Is there a CPU monitor like the one used in this video: http://goo.gl/aSZpq?

There is an app called tablet cpu usage app doing maybe the same.

It works but doesn't see the 5th core. Some of the app's UI displays properly only in landscape (some bits are squished in portrait).

Yes 5th core isn't seen by the system itself so not an issue of the app.

can you give the market link or the app's full name
U`ll never see the companion core.
It`s invisible to Android OS
management is on Nvidia level
the companion core only works wen the screen is off, It's used for background tasks which doesn't need the quad-core.
It's controlled by hardware so even Android can't see it
so what they using in the video? As that can see it?

Android OS never sees it, but I've been digging through nvidia's tegra kernel repo[1] and the kernel definitely knows about the extra core. But it doesn't get reported over any of the regular performance monitoring interfaces.
However arch/arm/mach-tegra/sysfs-cluster.c[1] defines a sysfs interface than can report if the low power core/cluster or the high performance cluster is in use, tweak a few parameters and even force it to switch between clusters.
Reading /sys/kernel/cluster/active will report the currently active cluster (LP or G). writing 'lp' or 'g' will force it into one of those modes.
You can also find various stats in /sys/kernel/debug/cpuidle/lp2 and /sys/kernel/debug/tegra_hotplug/stats.
I've only skimmed some of the code, and so far I'm not sure if the completely automatic switching from the low power core to the fist core that nvidia brag about actually exists. Some comments in arch/arm/mach-tegra/pm-t3.c suggest that the at least the first generation of Tegra 3 chips have bugs and don't quite switch the entire cpu state and implement some workarounds.[3]
Anyway back to the main topic, I'm guessing that someone could hack together a cpu monitor that polled /sys/kernel/cluster/active and assigned the activity of the first core to either the companion core or the first core depending on which cluster is active.
As a new user, I can't post links, but here are some urls you can copy/paste

Based off above posts saying that android itself is not aware of the extra CPU...
I have not rooted my HOX yet however i have installed SetCPU to monitor clock speed of the CPU.
To my supprise, it seems that the lowest clock you can set is 51Mhz...
Im not sure if this is a bug with setcpu/stock rom but to me if it is at 51mhz then that would be the +1 core.
The lowest i can monitor my phone go to when i am watching SetCPU is about 100mhz
U`r getting close......
The 4 cores have a min clock of 100
The 51Mhz is indeed the companion core cause the 4 cores never NEVER drop below 100Mhz

how did you manage to get it to install on your HOX ? I just bought it but the download don't start ! tryed through wifi & 3G, nothing changes.
It seems that google play store is blocking the download for non tablet user, although it say it's compatible with the HOX...

I was able to download it from market but uninstalled within my 15min window since it's not optimized for the one x screen + quicksystem Info & CPU spy app can do the same with more functionality

I finally managed to install it on my oneX but I'm disapointed to see that the companion core seems to be never used.
I was expecting to see the four cores down to 0% in numerous low usage case but it NEVER get down to 0% even when sitting on the desk and doing nothing
in the vid which have been posted in the first post, you can clearly see that the companion is activated at least 90% of the time.
I don't know what to think about that, is the companion core included in the four cores stat through Tablet CPU Usage Monitor, or is the companion being never used ???
Also, I have read around here that the GPU actualy doesn't render 2D things (even the desktop), so it might explain why the companion is never activated...

App Version:
CPU Sleeper
~Free to all XDA Memebers
~ Must Be Rooted to use App
What is it?
Its a fairly simple App that will put CPU 1/2/3 OFFLINE when the screen turns off. Once the screen comes back on, it will allow CPU 1/2/3 back ONLINE.
How does it work?
Since we have Dual & Quad core CPUs, we have a CPU 0 and a CPU 1/2/3, core 0/1/2/3, while the screen is off we really only need to have 1 core active "CPU0", this App will make sure CPU 1/2/3 shuts off while the screen is off, then resumes normal usage when the screen comes back on.
Compatibility?
Works with any Dual Core & Quad Core Devices!
~ICS
~Gingerbread
Battery Saving?
Battery savings all depends on Usage & idle times.
App Download: CPUSleep.apk
Version 1.3 Release Notes:
~ Fixed issue with Phone getting hot
~ Secondary Cores will now Disable while Talking on Phone if Needed
~ Secondary Cores Now Come back online
~ Fixed Superuser Notification being displayed every second
~ Fixed Cores Coming back online while screen is Off
~ Phone's while charge semi-faster while not being used
~ Fixed Lag issue when coming back online
~ Auto-Start on Reboot is still borked

Go into the super user app, and remove the allow/disallow option for it, then try it again.
The app requires SU, the script does too, but is run in the background, so SU never asks about it or cares that it runs.

Thanks, @pio_masaki, but how do I allow an app in Superuser? I run Superuser, but I don't see any way to allow/disallow apps.

Tested in sense, using tegrastats.
I noticed that when i run the camera app, any camera app, the cpu speed gets locked to 860mhz
All 4 cores are being used at some % but the speed gets locked to HALF of max. I just don't understand why they would do this.
And yes, the Cpu never goes above it even while recording. As soon as u exit the camera app, the cpu can go to its 1.5Ghz under load.
Could this be the reason the camera is always so choppy and such?

i was on Blade elite 1.3.1
Ill try a diff rom and find out.
Reckon it's a kernel thing. I'm using Alex-V's 1.7 sense kernel and the cpu happily clocks up to the max frequency set.
Camera turns the screen on 100% brightness it likely is coded to do that to limit heat while you are holding it.
Most of the image processing is done on the sense imaging chip and not the CPU.

I can confirm that Pro Capture doesn't get limited. I guess that backs up treebill's theory, since it seems to only happen in the native camera app.

yea i saw ur sig, so i even flashed android rev.
On blade rom, the camera was stock,
Both stock apps on both roms were getting the Cpu-limitation for me.
The other camera app (pro capture) was not limited. But funnily, there was no difference in terms of lag, Both the stock and second apps lagged equally, i mean its not a huge amount of lag, but quite noticeable.
Im really curious how you are on stock camera app and not getting cpu locked. Are you using tegrastats to check? or some other program? I mean it only happens while the camera is running, so :/

Well i'm not using a fully stock camera. I use Lypota's modpack which includes camera mods, as well as ivicask's camera drivers mod.
And yeah I installed Tegrastats to reproduce it but I don't use it any other time.
Incidentally, I also use Smartmax governor and ROW IO scheduling...possibly a factor.

i've already explored the governor/scheduler combos. Even on performance -- 1.5ghz locked, the camera app overrides it to 860 on stock apps.
I don't think i care enough to find a "fix", i've switched to rootbox and just waiting for sense 5 to appear for our HOX. Maybe that camera will perform better. *fingers crossed*

As I said the processing of images are not done on the CPU, no need for it to run at 1.5 just to take a picture.
Even if you got the app to run the CPU at 1.7 it wouldn't effect the quality of the image.

Hi there
I have my Note3 Neo for a month now and it runs superb, love this device. However.. there are few 3D Games that glitch during gameplay
Beach Buggy Blitz- Starts up fine but after a while I start to notice game Glitches, The checkpoint clock and the Boxed graphics on the sides don't act as they should be. There other parts of the game that acting the same way.
Dungeon Hunter 4- (Great Game) Starts Fine, After a while all the characters lose their characteristics.. face.. sword details.. armor details.. etc..
PlayStation® All-Stars Island- The Game itself runs fine, but on the main menu (the Island) it like the 3D is broken (pieces disappear and appear again).
Other 3D Games like Kritika: Chaos Unleashed, Dead Space, Dark Avenger, Dead Triger run smoothly.
Just want to know if there is anyone else out there having the Same Problems or its just me.
P.S i read about Modern "Combat 5 not working" If thats the case Big.Little Possessor is there a way to fix this?
Thanks
Although the reviews compare it with snapdragon 800 and they say the cpu is on par and gpu os on par with adreno 320...however I have noticed games were much smoother on my Nexus 4. At SOME point on note 3 neo games do stutter.

I installed the same app (System Tuner) i used in my SGY to manage all the root level settings. I installed it on my N3N and first went into the CPU section and it actually displayed 6 CPUs (from CORE0 to CORE5) and also the first 4 cores which are based on Cortex A7 were clocked at 1.3 Ghz and the last 2 cores ie. CORE4 and CORE5 were clocked at 1.7 Ghz. And guess what it had all the options like configuring the speed of the cores, forcing them on or off and also changing governors (but i say dont change governors it freezes the phone then u have to pull the battery  ) and it had couple of other option to use on a rooted phone like FS Trimmer, Build prop tweaks (it works on mine no bootup issues ) entropy fixer (like seeder i think) sd card cache size, oom fixing, and all the other things u want on a rooted phone  . However i was not able to find any option to control GPU freq.
In short it was the best app I found till now to control various aspects of your N3N including CPU. :victory:

FYI just tried the GPU_OC up to see if it will do any difference to the games.. But now i get an "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped" error on the long press of menu button (recent apps). P.S i own an N3N 7505.
just saying as heads up..
The error was caused by the secure settings the apps asks you to download..

Its not as fast as freakslim but hearthstone is going really nice only small lags on loadings. If only gltools work it would be awsome.
