Tommorow its the day! HTC ONE ITS Here :) - HTC One X

Tomorrow I will receive my White HTC One X so I hope I don't get the ****ty battery problem and the other gliches that I was reading a few days ago. But after all Im hoping that HTC will come with a few of updates to make the phone the smooth possible and solid day to day use. I think the support should be better now that they have narrowed the HTC phones in the market with the One family.
Hopefully if they give the enough support so we can stay with the S and X for almost a year before we are thinking of buying another phone. Lets hope everything got better with the time.
Also how long I should let him make the initial charge?
any other suggestions would be appreciate.
Cheers

Itl be fine just give it a check over. Dont hold it to your ear and shake violently looking for a rattle tho. As with charge just charge till fully charged as nowadays batterys are caliberated before you get it the whole full 24 hour thing is a waste of time
Mod or Die

don't calibrate your battery
I got my phone on 2nd April. It worked perfectly without any glitches. Until I tried to calibrate the battery by running the battery to 1 %. My battery starts to get hot easier than before. 3 hrs of 3g web surfing went down to 2 hrs. If I want to buy another high end phone this year, it will still be one x, but I highly suspect that the calibrating battery thing is not ideal at all.

Sorry guys no point in this.

My battery life

Hi, I am noticing that my battery life is very short. I have to charge my phone atleast twice a day. Last night I watched a program on my phone which was forty minutes long. After that my battery was already 60 percent about. However.now, in the morning, I woke up and checked one thing on the internet by 3g and now my battery is already 40 percent. Why is this .... I know that battery life on here is not good but mine seems worse.
Is anyone getting the same?
Thanks in advance.
Tell us your settings:
- Do you allow background data?
- Do you always synchronize?
- Do you enable data connection?
- Do you connected to the Wi-Fi all the time?
I swear my battery life is far far better since i put that Generic rom on, maybe the minor updates htc have released help battery life ?
Maybe the update will fix the battery life issue? We'll see when it rolls out on t-mobile handsets.
Other people have reported excellent battery life (mine only arrived today) and it seems to improve over time. How long have you had it?
I had mine 1 week today was originally on the T-Mobile rom and have had terrible battery life up to even yesterday, updated to the Generic Rom yesterday and it honestly seems to last longer now.

I was waiting for someone to report this before I did .. I too was originally on the T-mobile ROM and updated to the Generic ROM. I didn't notice any increase in battery life. In fact I didn't notice any changes apart from the minor T-mobile branding having gone.
Yesterday I did the OTA update and again didn't notice any changes. I did this morning though, in 10 hours the battery only dropped 4%. Of course the phone hadn't been used in that time and I have wi-fi and bluetooth switched off but I am sure this is a lot better than I was getting.
Maybe the OTA update has improved battery life. Let's hope so.
Hello again,
Is the generic Rom the Rom without the T-Mobile stuff?
How would you get that? And would that remove your warrenty / insurance?
How have some T-mobile people get the OTA update whereas some have not?
Have you realy found a difference with it?
THank you

Yes to without T-Mobile stuff.
You can download it in the Android Dev Desire section on here. There are extra steps to take.
It WILL void your warranty.
Anyone that got their phone direct from T-Mob will NOT have it unless they did it manually. And by that i mean manually flash generic rom then update.
I noticed my battery is better but it's only one day. And i never really had a problem with it. I charge once a day anyways.
Thank you for the help.
However I am unsure if I should get the generic ROM.
What are the other advantages?
Because there is not a lot of T-Mobile stuff on there.
If I got mobile insurance with T-Mobile and flashed the ROM would I be able to claim if my phone got damaged or lost?

Advantages. The phone is as it would come straight from the manufacturer. You will always receive updates for the device before Vodafone, O2,T-Mob etc would have them ready.
If the phone was lost then yes. If damaged...probably not but if it develops a fault you can always drop it in a drink and claim on he insurance...bit dodgy like!
My battery life story
So, I downloaded the brut Google nav mod the other day and haven't had a chance to use it until today. Took a journey which took about one hour, and made sure that my battery was fully charged before I went. I still hooked up the phone to the car charger though, to save power. One thing I noticed about charging the desire, however, is that if it identifies the battery as being already full when you connect a charger, the indicator light stays green, so doesn't top up even when you have been using it for a while. I noticed this about 20 minutes into my journey by which time the battery must have gone down quite a bit. Removing then replacing the charger sorted the problem and the Orange light indicated that it was charging again. By the time I got to my destination the battery was at about 50%.
On the return journey, I hooked up the phone again, turned on Google nav and set off. About 30 minutes into the journey I stopped off at a petrol station to grab some snacks, checked the battery and read 17%! Even though it was supposed to be charging the whole time!! I then got a message saying that the power from the car wasn't enough to charge the phone and I should attach AC power ASAP, which I obviously couldn't as I was in the car. I ignored it, got home safely enough, disconnected the charger and then watched the phone die .
Ok, so I was using gps and 3G which clearly uses up power and I guess Google nav is fairly processor hungry, but I would assume that having it connected to the car charger would be enough. Coming from a tocco ultra, I'm used to rubbish batteries, but at least that would charge up in a car.
Don't get me wrong, I still love the phone, but I just need to know if this is gonna be a regular issue, or something that can be sorted out with a Rom update.
Just for info, I've had my desire for nearly a week now on TMO using the old Rom. And, the car was Passat estate which is in very good nick, so I doubt that was the problem.

I would look if the charger really charges the phone or if it drains it also when not using GPS/Nav etc.
Reason I'm saying this is that I once bought a charger that actually drained the battery instead of charging it, while it worked fine on my older Nokia phone. I'm assuming the phone deactivates some power saving features because it thinks it's hooked up to a charger, but at the same time the charger is too weak to actually charge it.
I have not used branded rom before on this phone but the htc rom battery life is fine. Mine has been going for three days with usage fine

intresting my battery last a day
I just started charging 2nd time my battery and it lasted hmm since about 2pm till 15% at about 00.00 which is pretty much 10hours of heavy use. i did leave it on sleep for about 2 hours though and i left it at 25% and after that it had 25-24 % lol so if you turn all the updates off it will last quite a lot i guess
I rang up T-Mobile today (tech support) to ask about the lack of update considering the rom was behind the non carrier phones at the start and then an update too. They said they do work on them when they see a notable difference worth updating.
Anyway, I also said I was incredibly dissatisfied with the battery and how long it lasted and wondered if it could be to do with the ROM being well behind the stock HTC one. The tech support guy was excellent and very helpful. He said that with the type of battery in the Desire, you need to make sure you have it on a MAINS charger from quite low for a good couple of 14 hour sessions with the phone off. This builds up the charge for the battery and you should see a marked improvement. He said that most people don't bother to do that and as a result get poor performance.
He did say him and 4 members of his team have the same phone and while some of his team had battery issues he didn't. The main reason being that he had spent a few days not taking it to work and running it down in the evening then giving it three 14 hour chargers. He said that made a huge difference.
He also said if I was dissatified to a point of big frustration they would replace the phone or refund. Can't ask fairer than that

Battery life survey?

I haven't been able to find any threads that already cover this. There are several reviews, users' opinions etc on how long the battery in a particular smartphone lasts, but it's always struck me as odd that this information isn't easy to compare - it could lead to name-and-shame for particularly bad phones or encouraging results for those manufacturers who actually cared & made improvements.
I've found a few people who had the same idea, and one of them (being a much more web-capable person than me) actually made a website for this purpose. I really don't want this to sound like advertising, because the purpose isn't to make anyone any money, but simply to centralise this kind of information and have some (arguably) more meaningful stats driven by and for the benefit of everyone who wants to know.
If you think this could work & be a good idea, please take a look at the site - http://www.wewantbatterylife.com/ . If you think it's a rubbish idea and/or have objections, flame away.
the li-ion batteries normaly have longer life than the old phones...so it will last enough time..u'll probably replace your phone before the battery dies Probably u can ruin it with overclocking your device or something..but draining is something else
ps: im trollling again :O
Hehe, I meant battery life as in "how long does your battery last from a full charge until it runs out?", but yes, mini-troll It's all good..
Hi,
I have another question about batterie life. I don't know if it has been already treated somewhere else in the forum.
I will receive the 2000mha batterie today. What is the best way to calibrate it?
Fully discharge it then full charge or full charge before first use?
Thanks for you help!

my battery in nexus s long about 4 houres in full use , that is problem ?
what can i do ?
Nice site, and it will only grow more useful the more people input their info. Although looking at the results, some of those 30+ hour claims seem outlandish.
my stock galaxy note battery takes me 6 hours to lose 50%. hope it could last longer.
On my Galaxy S running ICS 4.0.4 Dark Knight 2.2, my battery lose about 25% by day. But with light use (1 or 2 calls, some SMS, GMail sync, ...)
really miss the days with my old nokia which i only needed to charge every two or three days haha.....

my phone keep charged almost 1 day
I don't know if it happen for someone else but i noticed a sort of "bug" with my HTC HD7. (Bought in December 2010)
If i reboot my phone when the charge is at X%, after the reboot, the charge level will be ~10% less than X ... and the phone will stay a very very long time at this percentage.
(For exemple, if after a reboot, i'm at 75%, the battery could stay at this level for all the day)
So as I imagine, it decalibrates the battery level and to make a new time the calibration i have to let my phone fully discharge and fully recharge to solve this bug.
Strange ...
(Sorry for my english guys, I hope i can be understand)
It seems that smartphones need more juice daily. However if you disconnect the mobile packet data whenever you are in range of WLAN you might get 2 days with one charge.
I am actually quite amazed how well my Samsung Galaxy S1 original battery has lasted almost 2 years. When I first started this smartphone journey with my S1 I thought that it will not last one year. I am glad that I was proven wrong.
Batteries
Definetely Smartphones need better batteries, especialy after we got used on some phones to last even 4 days like I had previously Nokia C7, and after that i bought Galaxy S2, and its battery lasts only 1 day, now thats really sad
my sgs+ with a custom rom (gigabread+) is alive up to 24 h.
My I9001 is at 30% at the end of the day (connected to wifi all the time)
battery life xperia s
my xperia s last 3 days with making some calls abou ta half an hour surfing on 3g a day and sometimes a game but when i use it a lot is lasts about one day and a half
HTC HD2 on nand android does ~4-6mah an hour on standbay, depending on torture i give it, it lasts a day to a day and half
My Samsung Note (stock 4.0.3), WiFi on all day, and average use (business mail, whats-app, games, some browsing)
after 15 hours the battery is still 40%~50%
i use SetCPU, it throttles up the CPU if its needed, at idle it runs at 200 MHz instead of 1.4 GHz
My SGS2 can last almost 2 days without using data. Its pretty good on battery

[Q] HTC One X - Battery Consumption (How long does it last?)

Hi there,
I am a proud owner of HTC One X ..
TO me, this smartphone is awesome, its fast and i love the design.
I'm ok with the heat, at times it is HOT, but due to its Quad Core processor, well, i can live with that...
BUT battery wise... How long can yours last ?
I'm pretty new at Android and this phone makes me busy because i am trying to keep up with the Android world... And boy... i'm glad to leave my IPHONE in my drawer... No more IOS !!
Is there any fix to the Battery issue?
If there is, have you guys tested how long more can it last ?
I can use for 2-3 hours and i'm left with 45% battery !!
Anyone ?
Please reply.. i would luv to hear from you guys...
I really luv this phone but the battery is killing me..
The problem with the one X:
leaving it unused (full connectivity 3g,wifi,sync) draws about 0.6% per hour.
But once you turn on your screen and start browsing the screen will deplete the battery really fast. (As will gaming)
Once you get used to your phone and you don't use it hours at a time anymore you can easily get 30+ hours of usage time which is way longer that any smartphone I had before this one (G1, legend, Omnia7). At this moment I have 23 hours of battery time with 36% remaining.
Yeah the screen is a massive power user.
I didn't really use my one x much the past few days and it lasted 51.5 hours! That's with wifi on, data on, cellular radio on etc. Only 1 and a half hours of screen time though.
I'm still very impressed, much better than my iPhone 4S could ever have done
Decided to plug it in now as it's down to 3%
Can't post links to the screen shots unfortunately
Tom.
Thee is a huge thread on battery life already here:

I don't think I would be half as annoyed with the One X if it just charged faster. Almost 3 hours to recharge a battery is kind of ridiculous.
Hopefully someone will make a custom kernel with a fast USB charge patch.

[Q] Best battery charging practices?

Hello all,
I hope I'm not beating a dead horse by asking this because I have searched this site as well as other places around the internet and there seems to be alot of information out there concerning how to charge your phone battery. But every time I read something, it seems to contradict the last thing I read. So I wanted to pose both viewpoints to the experts here in one place and hopefully get some clarification.
I recently got the Note 2 and am really happy with the phone. One of the biggest and most welcome surprises is the terrific battery life I have gotten so far. I am coming from a HTC Sensation and while I liked that phone, I always felt like the battery life pretty much sucked. When I first got the phone, it would barley get me through the waking hours of the day and that was only if I used it sparingly. Over the course of the nearly two years I had it, the battery life just got worse. I typically would leave my phone charging all night as well as in the car during the day if I had heavier use that day.
With the Note 2, I am seeing much better performance. I can easily make it through a whole day starting at 6am and by the time night comes still have over 50% charge remaining. I am not a heavy user but I have found myself using it more, trying to deplete the battery so I can charge it at night. My problem now is I can make it through one day with no problem but to make it through two full days may not work as well. I feel if I don't charge at night when its still around 50-45%, the next day I may need to charge right in the middle of the day when I need to use it or am not by a charger.
So my question is what is the best practice? Is it best to fully charge then fully discharge, and if so does it need to be a regular habit or just the first few cycles? Do I need to remove the phone from the charger once its fully charged or will an overnight charge be a safe option? If the phone is only at 40% or more is it ok to charge it? Are there any other battery management practices I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance for your help
dont read too much into battery charges...charge as you like...........at home, in car, connected to pc...........lol..........the battery will last for 2-3 yrs well...then if you feel it is dying, it has a removable battery.........you can always change the battery, buy a new one...they are cheap...
for ex:
you get ~1200 cycles if you charge from 40%-90%, but you will charge twice a day (2 charges a day will last ~400 days)
you get ~400 cycles if you charge from 10%-100%..charging 1 time a day will last ~400 days again
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
The above is the only proven effect on our batteries. The rest is handled by the battery itself.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Honestly ive always charged my phones however and whenever I liked. Overnight and at varying parcentages. Never noticed any battery degradation at all. My x10 battery seemed the same as the day I got it after 2 years.
I figure any detrimental effects will probably occur after 2 years of bad practice at which point most people would have a new phone anyway

Anyone replace their HTC 10 Battery after a year with the phone?

Now that the 10 has been out for almost 1.5 years, I know some of us have been using the phone since it first came out. With battery degradation in mind, I expect most of us have lost approximately 20% of our battery capacity.
Has anyone here successfully replaced their battery, and if so, have you noticed an actual increase in battery life?
I am curious if anyone has done this as well. My battery has degraded to the point where I can only manage 2 1/2 hours of SoT on latest LeeDroid. I am trying to hold on to the 10 till the Pixel 2 comes out, so if anyone had a battery replacement can chime in here and help us.
You serious? Take a look at what you would be getting into ......

Here is something my friend Aurelius posted you could try. I do this on my 10 every 5 to 6 months. My battery is in good shape and should easily last another year.

I really enjoy taking apart electronics and fixing them; so spending 1-2 hours taking apart the HTC 10 would not bother me at all
Because of the current state of my battery life, I occasionally have it discharged down to 0% battery just because it cannot do more than 2.5 Hrs SOT. It used to do about 3.5 and sometimes 4 by the end of the day. Would you say this recalibration technique has significantly helped your battery/SOT?

I am with you mate, I also average about 2.5 SOT at the end of day. I remember getting 3.5Hrs. I used to finish my day with about 30-40% battery life on an average day; Now I finish somewhere closer to 10-15%.
Same for me.
Don't know if Battery is dying or music apps are the pain.
Anyway I am interested in reports about replacing the battery by users here.
Some YouTube guys made it, but it looks a little bit complicated but not impossible.
Also I have a few questions about the replacement parts used.
I read many times, you should get a new display for replacing the battery, just in case.
But I would like not to do that until I really need it.
But...
After opening the phone, is the glue for fixing the display etc damaged? How can I close my phone properly again?
New display are coming with new glue for fixing it, but if I don't need a new one, I would prefer not tu use the new glue, no matter if I really purchased a new Display.
Hoping someone can give a little comment about replacing battery... Don't need to be a how to, but a commentary.
It's the battery.
Replaced it after 15 months of solid use. Don't know why. One reason (or so I've read) is because I so often kept it plugged it/charging while using it, but never letting it discharge entirely. But who knows?
