So the installed Tango app starts up and says "No Wifi? No Problem..." User your 3g 4g etc... blah blah network.
Then when you try to make a call it says HELL NO... This version only works with WiFi. This surprised even the AT&T people as I showed them the original No Wifi message and then that it didnt work when we picked up my wifes phone in store.
Im looking at the marketplace today and search Tango. I see a "Nokia" version and the one from "TangoMe Inc."
I install the TangoMe Inc version and go to my program list. I see the original one is there and the new one is installing. I removed the old one, ran the new one and did setup. Did the same on my wifes phone and voila! Vid Chat without WiFi.
Maybe everyone else knew that but I didnt. I was dissapointed in the WiFi requirement but as we are an LTE market and I have a grandfathered unlimitted data plan I couldnt see why I shouldnt be able to do it!
The one preinstalled on the Lumia 900 is an att version of the app that only lets you call over wifi, but the one in the marketplace is the regular version that lets you use your 3g/4g to call people.
It's like an echo in here

i think you accident a word but do you mean it worked on older phones?
things you can do:
1. The Amaze and SGS2 requires "new" sim cards for wifi calling (the sim that came with the phone) so use that sim instead
2. Go to a T-mobile store and ask for the new SIM. (free-$20 different stores different policies)
3. Call T-mobile to help you "activate and setup" your wifi calling in your ACCOUNT, not on the phone.
4. Call CS and ask them to issue you a new sim card (they either send you to a store or mail you one)
5. Use the search button because I remember reading about this a couple days ago.
If you go to an actual tmobile store and not a dealer and tell them that you called tmobile and you were told the sim would be FREE, they won't charge you for it. But make sure you test wifi calling at the store before leaving the store, so you don't have to drive back to the store like I had to.
I got the phone this morning in Dallas and wow the 4g LTE is insanely fast. I have had the Samsung Focus and unlocked it a few days after I got it release day.
Here are some pointers and tips after using it today.
The visual voicemail is a free plus to having the 4g LTE micro SIM card that is required (my focus SIM is obsolete). I had to call my voicemail and create a password as I have never had to enter a password in before as I was prompted when I noticed the 'voicemail' tab when looking at Phone 'History.' Once I set a voicemail password and waited 10-20 seconds my voicemail populated on my phone.
Another thing I have found today that Skype works like a charm. I had previously downloaded the beta from the press release link that sent you to the Marketplace to send it to your phone. I since redownloaded it to my Nokia 900 and it is amazing. It puts the iPhones to shame with picture quality and it works on the incredible 4g LTE here in Dallas.
On another note, the 4g LTE here in Dallas I have been averaging 22Mbps down and 15Mbps up and not had a single data problem as I've seen others express today.
Also, coming from a Samsung Focus, to get tethering was to start up diagnostics. This diagnostics code works on the L900 and brings up some neat tests but I have not been able to get further than this to unlock any tethering possibilities. My goal is by the end of the week to have the tethering unlocked to use as that was one of the main reasons I kept with the Focus for so long (over a year and several months)
Other than Skype, the Nokia maps and transit I have found to be amazing applications. I do have a disgruntle comment and that is to hooking up my L900 to my computer that previously housed my Focus data. I went to previous apps in the Marketplace that I had and tried to reinstall but was unable to. I have only had one type of Windows Phone, Focus, but I have had a couple of them and was always able to resend to reinstall on device, and this option was unavailable to me on the new phone.
Anyone have any tethering tips as I am not giving up my unlimited data with ATT to have WiFi tethering. This must be found soon.
To get your IMIE code the # is :
*#06#
Go
Enable Diagnostics Mode
For anyone who does not already know the code to enable the Diagnostics mode:
On the Phone keypad type
##634#
TaDa, Diagnostics mode is now an accessable app!
Skype
How are you getting Skype on you Lumia 900?
I have been searching everyday in Marketplace and I still don't see it. I don't know how this Tango connects to Skype. But It just doesn't make sense that MSFT buys off Skype and not put it in their WM phones.
wpcentral had a Skype review with a QR code at the bottom.
Find the review and scan the code to install.
w00t!!! Thanks sent!
Hey guys, so I'm looking into FreedomPop (http://www.freedompop.com/), which is a somewhat newer thing to my state. I set it up on his phone and not entirely sure about it. They give you 1gb of data, yet you have to download their messaging app. When you activate it activates your data, but calling and text cant be used besides through their app which uses data. Ie, your data is used for everything from what I can tell and cell signal is worthless.
The point of this is I'm wondering if it will work on the Sprint S3 SPH-L710 and if that is how freedompop is meant to work since I cannot find any info at all about it. Would prefer to use the stock messaging app but it just gives you a sprint text saying you cant text as if you're still on sprint and all the info in your phone says sprint, network says sprint, etc..
FreedomPop s3
I just in the last week got a s3 from FreedomPop it is running 4.4.2 and came with there dailer and messaging apps installed and the stock ones have been removed. as far as I can tell they are using sprint the phone even says sprint on the back. also when I set up my google voice number it asked me if I wanted to use that as the main number on the phone witch to my understanding is a sprint only thing? but I can confirm google voice connecting for texting and sipdroid will connect but because they removed the stock dialer I cant call out with sipdroid. I hope this helps you out. I am only just now trying to play with sipdroid so I might have more info later.

Apparently the mobile phone part of them is in beta stages. But from what I've noticed, you don't actually have service. Only data service. Everything uses data. If you were to disable data, nothing would work. As far as I can see on the S2 because everything you do it recorded as data under settings. Like phone calls and texts. Where as a normal network it would be over the cell towers and not the data towers. I know they are the same thing but if you're in an area without data, but have signal still, you'd be screwed in that situation.
Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out how to Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM as I just copied/pasted the title lol. My ROM is DN3 by electro-team.com & they already told me they didn't have it. I've found a wifi-preferred.apk on this xda but it was from a pretty old post & it crashes on launch.
Somewhere I read where it calls on code in the tmobile stock ROM's system partition or something like that. I live in a valley at the bottom & I get zero or 1 bar by my window but no service in most of my house. I didn't realize that T-Mobile was the only phone provider that offered true VOIP wifi-preferred calling....I have been with them for 8 years lol. I'd get calls through my internet router's connection even when I was out of cell tower 4G LTE range! Man if I would have known that I would never have flashed a non-Tmobile ROM. Plus to top it off I had a defective microSD card so even though my NANDROID backup said it saved, it was gone on reboot...ugh bad luck.
I just got this ROM set up the way I want it....I'd hate to hafta flash another. Let me know PLEASE if anyone of you smart ladies & gents knows how I can get Tmobiles "wifi-preferred" calling back on my phone.
Thanks guys!
Unless I'm mistaken (but I don't think I am), you can't have native WIFI Calling on non-Tmobile Roms. For that, you will have to flash a stock Rom.
I use this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564430
You can also use 3rd party apps to make VOIP calls. Google Voice is also a good alternative.
Sorry for the bad news and good luck.

wifi-preferred not wifi calling
I have a $60.00 a year skype plan & number that works well. But I want to use my "carrier" number. I have google voice & google hangouts but with hangouts dialer it still only calls phone numbers on LTE networks...doesn't work over wifi internet connection, unless ur calling someone by hangouts username. All phone number calls go out through LTE only on google hangouts/voice dialer thing.
I'm talking about "WIFI-Preferred calling" not wifi-calling....they have the terminology all confusing when you google it. There's got to be a way. I know non-stock ROMs that say they have it. I've found 2. I'll look up what they are called.
I can not get HD voice to work on Verizon with my Nexus 5X. I just want to be able to be on a call and still use data. This feature (HD Voice) is available for pre-paid customers now, but I can't seem to get it to work. I have "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" turned on, I went to my Verizon to turn it on and it says it was added and will be available to use within 15 minutes. I wait 20 minutes, reboot my phone and it doesn't work? I go back to my Verizon and it's like I never added it, so I go through the process again... Same results. I go to a live Chat and after 25+ minutes get referred to the 800 number. Now I've been on with Verizon fro 2+ hours and they are telling me it's because I have a non Verizon phone!?!? I explained to Verizon that if I put a Verizon sim card in my phone from someone who already has HD voice active on there account, that it works perfectly... Still on with them now any suggestions? Am I missing something?:eek Still on with Verizon. I have been transferred now. They now realize that Verizon's site is not adding the feature and that is why I have been transferred... Now I am on hold...
Does anyone have VoLTE on a 5X with Verizon?
Okay, so... Verizon explained to me that it's because the Nexus 5X is not compatible with VoLTE, but the Sim card from someone's phone that is compatible will make HD Voice work on my phone because the phone that I got the sim card from is compatible? WTF? Haha. So I asked her if I take my sim card put it in the phone that is compatible to activate it, it would then work? She said yes.... WTF kind of logic is this? Haha. IDK? I guess I will try that? and let you guys know?
I have VZW postpaid and I have a N5X. The HD Voice definitely works, but it is a bit unreliable. My wife is on VZW with a VZW-branded S7 and most of the time when we talk it works but sometimes it doesn't and I can't really figure out why -- or if there even is a reason.
Did you go to Settings --> Wireless & networks More --> Cellular networks and turn on Enhanced 4G LTE Mode? I believe that is a necessary step, as well as making sure HD voice is active on your account.
Also, keep in mind that HD voice only works if you are calling someone else with a compatible phone and with it active on their account.
I have all the settings correct and as I stated above, it does work if I use someone else's Verizon Sim that already has HD voice activated, but I can't get it active on my account. I know it doesn't always work... I just want it so I can use Data whilst on a call. Btw I still am unable to get this working on my 5X, or 6P. I have now even activated a Verizon branded phone that it is already working on to my account and it still will not work, even on the Verizon phone it works on a different account... Wtf? Thanks for your input though
