i think you accident a word but do you mean it worked on older phones?
things you can do:
1. The Amaze and SGS2 requires "new" sim cards for wifi calling (the sim that came with the phone) so use that sim instead
2. Go to a T-mobile store and ask for the new SIM. (free-$20 different stores different policies)
3. Call T-mobile to help you "activate and setup" your wifi calling in your ACCOUNT, not on the phone.
4. Call CS and ask them to issue you a new sim card (they either send you to a store or mail you one)
5. Use the search button because I remember reading about this a couple days ago.

If you go to an actual tmobile store and not a dealer and tell them that you called tmobile and you were told the sim would be FREE, they won't charge you for it. But make sure you test wifi calling at the store before leaving the store, so you don't have to drive back to the store like I had to.

Hey guys if i get the invalid sim card message does that mean I must get a new sim card? If so how much would this cost me?

The sim card that is required for our devices to be able to use wifi calling is labeled with a TM9177 (newer sim card) so if you have a TM9073 (older sim card) you need to update that at your local T-Mobile store. it didnt cost me anything. they replaced it with no problems at all.

I've been seeing a major bug lately with WiFi calling. Sometimes (seemingly at random, though always when I am trying to connect to a WiFi after being connected to cell network) the icon will turn RED and give me the dreaded SIM error. Generally this is fixable with a reboot. So if you have a TM9177 SIM and for some reason you are getting the SIM Error code then try a reboot first.
Of course if you have an older SIM then yes, you need to get a new SIM. Call TMO first and tell them to put a note on your account that you are able to receive a free SIM. Otherwise some of the more A-Holeish stores may try and charge you 20 dollars.
No problem so far with wifi calling on my phone.
just goto your local t-mobile store and tell them to change your old card for a new one. they know what to do. and it's free.

Curiosity....what ROM are you using? I wonder if the wifi calling bugs I'm seeing are a ROM issue...
Thank you guys, I will call them first in head of time and then go to the mall. Thank you all!

Verizon VoLTE not working on pre-paid

I can not get HD voice to work on Verizon with my Nexus 5X. I just want to be able to be on a call and still use data. This feature (HD Voice) is available for pre-paid customers now, but I can't seem to get it to work. I have "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" turned on, I went to my Verizon to turn it on and it says it was added and will be available to use within 15 minutes. I wait 20 minutes, reboot my phone and it doesn't work? I go back to my Verizon and it's like I never added it, so I go through the process again... Same results. I go to a live Chat and after 25+ minutes get referred to the 800 number. Now I've been on with Verizon fro 2+ hours and they are telling me it's because I have a non Verizon phone!?!? I explained to Verizon that if I put a Verizon sim card in my phone from someone who already has HD voice active on there account, that it works perfectly... Still on with them now any suggestions? Am I missing something?:eek Still on with Verizon. I have been transferred now. They now realize that Verizon's site is not adding the feature and that is why I have been transferred... Now I am on hold...
Does anyone have VoLTE on a 5X with Verizon?
Okay, so... Verizon explained to me that it's because the Nexus 5X is not compatible with VoLTE, but the Sim card from someone's phone that is compatible will make HD Voice work on my phone because the phone that I got the sim card from is compatible? WTF? Haha. So I asked her if I take my sim card put it in the phone that is compatible to activate it, it would then work? She said yes.... WTF kind of logic is this? Haha. IDK? I guess I will try that? and let you guys know?
I have VZW postpaid and I have a N5X. The HD Voice definitely works, but it is a bit unreliable. My wife is on VZW with a VZW-branded S7 and most of the time when we talk it works but sometimes it doesn't and I can't really figure out why -- or if there even is a reason.
Did you go to Settings --> Wireless & networks More --> Cellular networks and turn on Enhanced 4G LTE Mode? I believe that is a necessary step, as well as making sure HD voice is active on your account.
Also, keep in mind that HD voice only works if you are calling someone else with a compatible phone and with it active on their account.
I have all the settings correct and as I stated above, it does work if I use someone else's Verizon Sim that already has HD voice activated, but I can't get it active on my account. I know it doesn't always work... I just want it so I can use Data whilst on a call. Btw I still am unable to get this working on my 5X, or 6P. I have now even activated a Verizon branded phone that it is already working on to my account and it still will not work, even on the Verizon phone it works on a different account... Wtf? Thanks for your input though

Enabling Cricket Wifi calling on 960u1

Hi,
I am trying to get the wifi calling option to appear and work on my 960U1. Here is what I've done so far.
1. Utilized Odin 3.12.3 (not patched version that I've seen on some forum posts) to flash AIO firmware G960U1UEU1ARBG (which i'm pretty sure is the only cricket CSC from updato.com, Sammobile has nothing listed for AIO )
2. During flash I made sure to select the CSC (not HOME CSC)
3. The flash looks like it was successful and the phone was automatically factory reset.
3. I am still missing the wifi calling option (i checked both settings-> connection menus, and the Dialer. I also tried making a call in airplane mode with wifi and it said i needed to turn on cellular.
Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do? Only thing I can think of is I'm missing a firmware or I need to change how I'm flashing the phone.
Here is a link to the cricket website saying wifi calling is supported on the S9 https://www.cricketwireless.com/sup.../wifi-calling/customer/compatible-phones.html
Thank you
Update:
So I was realized what I was missing was the AIO (Cricket) User Data. Once I located that and flashed it along with the Firmware using Odin I know have the Wifi-Calling button added to my phone. Now when I attempt to turn it on wifi-calling I get the "Please try again later" message.
I contacted Cricket Wireless Chat support, told them I have a S9 with cricket Firmware and they asked me to provide the IMEI, when I provided the IMEI they stated that it was for an unbranded S9 and that I would be unable to get wifi-calling to work on their network because of that.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could get them to authorize my phone to get access?
It is not going to work no matter what. You have to be using an iPhone or their Cricket Branded Android phones.... -_-

Even if Crickett wanted to, their agreement with AT&T would probably prevent it. Even AT&T requires an iPhone or one of their branded phones for wifi calling. You can give up this fight.

If you had another Cricket branded Android that is wifi calling capable you could have them hard set that IMEI in the system, and that should get your S9 working.

Thank you,
I've considered this option, but now I'm weighing another consideration. It looks like mobile hotspot is disabled on the cricket firmware with user data. So unless I pay for the service maybe i should stay on a generic firmware so that it will give me mobile hotspot vs wifi calling...
\Again, FYI and maybee everyone already knows this.
The idea behind the "unlocked" handset and Android was that each carrier would have its own app to use for these handsets to enable these IMS features. As usual, the wireless US carriers have perverted the concept to tell then end user to f*ck off because you did not pay a premium for the carrier branded/bloated handset.
Man....MINT SIM is looking good.
Just FYI, Wi-Fi Calling will work fine on U1 flashed to Cricket's firmware. You just need to provision your SIM card for Wi-Fi Calling, to do that you need to insert your SIM into iPhone (SE or 6/7/8/x) and activate Wi-Fi Calling on that phone and test it out, once you see it active - remove SIM card and put it back to your S9. After you put the SIM back into your S9 - do a network settings reset, after that the Wi-Fi Calling should work. This is how I made my S9 work. If you don't have anyone to borrow iPhone from - go to your local Apple store, buy one then return it next day

Where did you find the User Data file? I've been looking high and low and just can't find any. Thanks
Also would like to know where you got the UserData.

I've been attempting to get this working on my ATT (carrier unlocked) S10+, but since Cricket only supports the S10 (not +) I'm unable to find an appropriate userdata. Do I have any options?
Wifi calling will work on non cricket device under one condition. You activate wifi calling on a cricket device. With your sim in it. Then put the sim in your phone. I also flash any multi csc firmware. And place cricket sim in the device so it auto personalizes. so then you have cricket firmware so to speak. I'm using a g950u xfinity right now on cricket with bit 7 even though cricket has only bit 6 out. And he calling and wifi calling work great

Wifi Calling, Verizon Pixel 2XL, using Straight Talk AT&T Sim no option

Hey all, I've been pouring over the forums here and other places trying to find a solution to my issue. I just got a Pixel 2XL the verizon version and I'm using it on Straight Talk with an AT&T sim card. So far so good except I cannot get wifi calling. I'm pure stock, android 9/Pie, no bootloader unlocks/rooting etc. The wifi calling option does not exist in the phone app nor in the settings anywhere. Even when you search for wifi calling, it simply takes you to the network and connections section of settings but wifi calling is no where to be found. I've tried the adb command (the one that apparently used to work on Oreo but not longer does on Pie) and that didn't work (though I didn't expect it to since many people said it no longer works on Pie). I have an Unlocked Note 9 as well and its wifi calling works perfectly fine so does anyone have a way to make this work? Reception at my home is somewhat lacking and I really need wifi calling.
Thanks!

Could you attach a screenshot with the WHOLE section of "Mobile Network", found inside of "Network & Internet" in the Settings -- make sure that you click on the drop down menu next to "Advanced Calling" -- this will help make sure that wifi calling is really missing as well as might point something out that may help with a solution. Moreso, personally, because I can't even imagine what the settings menu looks like missing this...

It might be a long shot but try checking the settings in the Google phone app. There should be a place that says configure IMS calling. I have this setting here and in the network settings. If you have it that's where you can enable wifi calling.

Been there done that. I have no options for setting up IMS calling. I only have SIP options. Also, I have tried the phone dialer trick (where you dial *#*#4636#*#*) and that shows the wifi calling option as a toggle but its greyed out and cannot be enabled. I even tried an adb trick that used to work on the 1st gen pixels, but to no avail.
What happens when you enter your information here?
I'll have to initiate a chat with Straight Talk. Like you I have a Pixel 2 XL with a Straight Talk AT&T SIM. The only difference is that mine is unlocked. I just ran my phone number and the IMEI of the SIM through the linked site and it tells me my device is not compatible. Since I have a BYOP SIM and the IMEI is of the SIM itself, chances are high that the SIM needs replacing with one that includes WiFi calling support.
EDIT: According to the representative I just spoke with, there's no guarantee that changing to a newer AT&T SIM will enable the feature. The only guaranteed method according to tech support is switching to a T-Mobile SIM.

Hey thanks for the help. I tried that link as well (before I posted here; sorry I should have mentioned it) and it said my device is also not compatible. I initiated a chat with them and they told me the same; switch to T-Mobile. I am tempted to do so but the one thing holding me back is my home is already a place I get poor signal and T-mobile's coverage while much improved still isn't as good at AT&T's. I realize that having wifi calling would fix any lingering signal issues but I do manage to get 1-2 bars of 3G at my house with AT&T, I figure I won't even get that with T-Mobile. So I am weary of the switch. I'll have to consider it though. I could also wait for the full rollout of the latest google voice (since it finally is bring VOIP without the need of hangouts) and just use that number instead.
So I contacted Straight Talk and ordered a T-Mobile sim card. It'll be here in a few days. I will post my findings after it arrives. Straight talk support says wifi calling works with all T-Mobile sim cards so we will see.
Hello all,
Okay, so I finally got switched over to a T-Mobile sim card (again still with straight talk). It took a while cause I had to buy a new one (the old one I had expired; who'd have thought?). Anyways, switching to T-Mobile solved all my problems and then some. Not only do I have Wifi calling, but also HD voice, VOLTE, Tethering, and 3-4 bars of LTE (previously on AT&T, I got 1-2 bars of 3G). I realize the signal issues is merely a coverage thing but I can say with certainty that switching to a T-Mobile sim card will give you all the advanced features. I hope this helps others who might experience this problem. I've been using AT&T (in one form or another) for the better part of a decade and can now honestly say, AT&T sucks.

LG G710ULM UNSUPPORTED VoLTE ?!? (Straight-Talk US - T-Mobile network)

*********UPDATE********** I bought a new sim from straight talk and VOLTE works now! (GSM compatible Straight Talk Sim card) My old sim was from 2014, so it wasn't VOLTE compatible.
I have an ebay zombie LG G710ULM flashed to latest Google Fi Android 9 software, I received an email from Straight Talk (Wal-Mart US cell phone service reseller) telling me that my LG G7 does not support VoLTE and my phone will be unable to receive calls in January 2021.
-Using a network info app, the app is telling me it is connected to T-Mobile towers (so I have a Straight Talk T-Mobile compatible SIM)
-I can't find any options to enable VoLTE in settings, and wifi calling is erroring out
I was wondering if there are ways to get VoLTE and Wifi Calling working (Straight Talk supports it, but not my current ROM/SIM).
I can switch to the following sims supported by Straight Talk.
-AT&T Compatible Sim
-Verizon Compatible Sim? If my phone supports CDMA bands
OTHERWISE MOST OF US WILL HAVE A PAPERWEIGHT IN 2021!!!!!!!!!
Same problem
I'm having the same problem. Any progress on this?
I'd like to know this too. Surprised there is no traffic here with all the knowledgeable people on this forum.
G710EAW here. BTW There was an Android 10 update just two hours ago from Android 9. Someone with an 'EM' phone in another thread said VOWifi is "working now" but how do others know if it's working when January 1st comes around?

If you guys have cross flashed roms, then volte will not work. It doesnt work for any of us who have crossflashed. Whichever model.
You need to be on original software. Looks like some licensing thing that volte requires. They need to provision volte for all the phones. Sounds like they are not interested to provision it for g7. Odd that even EAW model which has original firmware, they sent that mail too....
Sad/Odd to see your carriers are suddenly changing to only Volte.
Is there a way to put it back to original software? I actually don't need it crossflashed to anything because it's a Verizon originally and I would like to use it on that network. Or does it not work that way?

Main issue is that your carriers dont want to provision volte for your G7s. So no guarantee if cross flashing back to original will work.
There is crossflashing guide in guides section with which you can go back to stock firmware. Do this at your own risk.
In our country we have a volte carrier called Jio. They provide an app called jiocall. Using that app you could use their service even if your phone is not volte capable. You will have to see if there are such apps for your carrier. Thats the only non technical, simpler solution.
I have some information that might make all of you guys happy.
I was told by Safelink Wireless that VOTLE is a function of BOTH the phone *AND* the sim card.
Basically, if the phone itself is VOLTE compatible but the sim card is not, then the phone will be reported on their system as not compatible, and will ask you to upgrade your phone.
However if a VOLTE compatible SIM is inserted, if the phone does in fact support VOLTE, it will then work. That's because it's provisioned on the carrier via the sim card itself.
If you purchased a sim via the "Buy your own sim" package, e.g. online or from Best Buy, etc, awhile ago, then that sim is not compatible. You simply need to call Tracphone/Safelink and ask to buy a VOLTE compatible SIM (which costs 99 cents). Then when you get it, call their tech department to have them transfer the phone service and phone number to the new SIM.
You can dial the phone's service menu and go to the VOLTE/GPRI menu and if the options are there, then the phone supports it.
What's the correct service menu number for our phones?
