Dear experts!
I have an Xpera S. Recently I found that some kernels (specially stock kernels) limit input amperage while charging to 1000mAh (as I explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40172449&postcount=38 )
How can I bypass this limitation if I wanna use an specific kernel which has limited the amperage?
Thanks a lot in advance

it's not true with stock kernels. even most custom kernels dont have that amperage limit.
i have xperia s and ep850. i get the amperage input under 1000mA because the phone use some of em, and (maybe) bad electricity in my home. to get more than 1000mA (the max is about 1200mA with ep850), i usually turned off the data, and set it to 2G only. and if it still wont show more than 1000 mA (i use android tuner to check the amperage), i plug & re-plug the charger. but still, the kernel can accept more than 1000 mA.
The limitation is related to the temperature.
I don't remember the right value, but more is the temperature and less is the intensity "A" , "mA" .

Thanks for your attention.
You know my operator only support 2G network right now and I always turn data off!
You are right! XS stock kernel does not have this limitation! I use custom Kernel (Advanced custom Kernel v17). For me this one is better for some reasons...! But there is an amperage limitation while having this kernel installed on my phone! Besides, my friend have Xperia SL with stick kenel and he also suffers this limitation!
The question is " Is there any solution or sth to bypass this limitation in kernels that have it?"

if u encountered such kernels with limitations (from my experience, the (very) early version of Nova kernel (cm10 kernel) kinda has this limitation, but later versions dont have it), there's nothing you can do except changing your kernel. i've used advanced custom kernel (not the latest though, as i've re-locked my bootloader) and i dont think that it has this limitation, eg: charging went very fast (1200 mA with ep850). so i guess maybe change your kernel (though i doubt the newer version of that kernel has the limitation )
i think what Forzaferrarileo mean is you shouldnt charge your phone when the phone's temperature is hot, as it'll only accept lower current.
I have noticed since I had my HTC one way before rooted it always had a stupid charging problem.. Is there any patch, ROM anything that will allow any charger to charge phone at normal speeds? I hate looking for factory charger every time and also slow charge in my truck... Any options out there??

There's custom kernels that you can flash where you can force enable fast charge. This will always have your phone charge fast.

No, so far we have kernels for 4.2.2 ROMs and then one for the EclipticOne 4.4/Sense 5.5 ROM. If I'm missing any, hopefully someone else will chime in.
Here's the thread with the 4.2.2 kernels (4.3 kernel should be coming soon to use with 4.3 ROMs):

That's the one thing I miss most from my s4. I sold it to get the HTC one last week, but I miss the 2 hour charge time. Buuut I love 4.4 too much so no fast charge option for me. Worth it though.
Hi guys..I bought this phone a couple day ago..And everything was great..He was charging very fast, but this morning i woke up and he was on 15%..And he is charging about 1% in couple minutes..Why? :S
I use search but :S
SamsungĀ“s USB cable die very often. Try another original cable
Are you using the original charger? It's a big battery and needs a powerful charger, at least 2Ah(like the original).

Yeah this is old original cable..Can I use S3 charger? Or cable from some another phone?

Check with Galaxy Charging. Should be 1600-1800mA average. Lower than that the cable might be faulty.
Use 5-pin micro USB cable, 4-pin often causes problems.
I found 5-pin cable in the house so i will try it..And one more question,i don't wan't to open another thread..
I have 4.1.2 official..I bought this phone couple days ago..And i don't have upgrade to 4.3 :S I saw that there is official 4.4 for Note 2?
You can fix this, not too safe but I use it all the time and works.
You need your phone to be rooted of course,
If you are on TouchWiz ROM, install Nadia kernel (found in original android development section) or AGNi kernel If on aosp
Then download trickster mod for kernel options, go to charging control and enable "ignore unstable power detection" and apply .
This way you should charge at fastest possible.
And yes there is 4.4.2 official ..
if you don't want to root or do any of my things, you need to get better cable/charging place, etc.

I used 5 pin cable and everything works Thank you guys!
But,why I dont see update for 4.3? Cause i want 4.4...

So...Which Custom Roms support fast charge higher than 2amps?
I guess every custom rom does support fast charging

The stock charger tops out at 2A. Now it charges at 12V too on stock rom and m not sure if it does that on custom roms. But I'm good as I get the latest software via customs and if charging takes like 20 mins more, I can live with that as I only have to charge it once in two days

The capability to set to charge only till 80%. Have read in TG that this feature was dropped, due to the danger of getting the device bricked because of her. There's a post explaining why here in xda, made by arrow dev.
You can root your phone with Magisk and get the Magisk Module "Advanced Charging Controller".
Then, in a Terminal, you do "sudo acc 80" to make it stop charging @ 80%.

AMAZING Evolution-X 7.4,
Smart Charging works GREAT on this rom
Try miuivn. It has smart charging pre-enabled. it is based on miui 14 (chinese) and android 13 official. Im using it as a daily driver and havent seen any bugs yet.

Are you able to customise the maximum charge level as with Evolution-X,
I like to charge my F3 between 35% and 65%,
this lasts me around 8 hrs and only generates 0.03 cycles,
this will hopefully keep my battery in tip top condition.

There is no built-in option for that but there are automated tasks you can set for that I guess. I also never have used Accu Battery app.

Hi,
I`ve been looking for many years for a rom with the "Smart Charge" feature, i have only found two for the F3, Evo-x and crDROID,
i used to use ACCA until Evo-X came along, i am always on the look out for roms with this feature to see how it compares.
I brought my F3, New 14 months ago and it still has 95% of the battery capacity left according to ACCU.
I try to minimise the battery cycles and phone temperature,
hopefully by doing this it will keep my Battery in Tip Top condition.

No this rom is called miuivn.
There's already some roms with it. But most of the maintainers aren't including it, because it can bring issues.
Anyway, I when I'm not in a rom with Smart charge, I always use a app called "battery charge limit". Super lightweight that allows to smart charge.

Hi,
Yes i also read about Charging Issues regarding Smart Charging, before i switched to Evo-X, i used ACCA and this was good, but i think it`s better to have this feature built in.
There were post regarding dead phones ect using the smart charge function,
yet i used ACCA for 10 months without any issues before switching to EVO.
If possible could you link to "Battery Charge Limit" as I'm not aware of this app,
cheers.

Hello buddy. Yeah I think we already have discussed that on other post. Supposedly it could bring serious issues to pmic controller.
But I used it around 3 years on my previous device (oneplus 3), without any issue. And now I've been using on poco, without any problems too. But well, I'm aware that someday it could turn bad.
I can't find on internet, but it's available on TG - https://t.me/RohailsHub/794.
If you prefer I can upload the apk.

Here
Some custom ROMs that have smart charging feature built-in include:
AOSiP ROM
Evolution X ROM
Paranoid Android ROM
Please note that the availability and functionality of these features may vary depending on your device and the version of the ROM you are using. It's recommended to check the ROM's official XDA thread or the Github repository for more information.

Hi,
Just a small update regarding "Smart Charging", I had to revert back to ACCA, as i use a QI Wireless receiver/adaptor to charge my phone most of the time and found that when QI charging my battery temperature was getting worryingly high,
at one point it reached 40.5 degrees, yet when using a standard charger my battery was fine.
I tried the app that you uploaded (Many thanks) but it looked very similar to ACCA except it had less functionality, i also found an (almost) identical Program on the play store.
So for now i have disabled the "SMART CHARGING" function in the Evo-X rom and reverted back to ACCA, as i am able to set the charge temperature.
I have set it to stop charging at 35 degrees and resume at 30 degrees,
I have also ordered a replacement QI Receiver to see if it resolves my issue.
