I've been trying to install a new rom on my epic 4g touch and I'm currently running blazer rom 4.0 and trying to try out new roms like calks new 3.0 gb rom but it gets stuck on the boot screen and I tried a fresh Odin from stock and rooted and cwmd but it gets stuck on cwm and even in worst case, it's got rid of my cwm to where I had no choice but to Odin back to stock
Which recovery are you using to flash? If you are using hitman that is your problem. When I tried to flash Blazer 4.0 SAME thing happened to me. Try a different recovery. I have had excellent luck with gunslinger 1.41.
Which ever version rouge 5.0.2.7 is

Alright so you Odin'd back to stock now what I would do is reinstall CWM then flash the Gunslinger kernal then retry. Also when you flash the rom make sure you wipe Cache, delvic cache, wipe data factory reset. Then go to mounts and storage and wipe system. Then flash.

I usually just wipe cache and dalvik reboot and I am all good to go.

I had the same issue when trying to install blazer 4.1 coming from calks 3.0. The flash would go thru with no errors but wouldn't boot. Then I had to Odin to restore the phone. What worked for me was downloading the blazer from on my pc then sending it over to my phone. Flashed then no problems. Maybe it was a bad download?

Use sfhub's one-click to Oding to Stock EL29 (full reset!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101. Then use his AutoRoot [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728 ]and add CWM+Rogue.
After downloading (and before extracting the zip of course) check the MD5 and make sure you got the full downloads!
This will give a full stock AND a good CWM. Trying to do it any other way is silly in my opinion. Especially with all the bricks.
Then you can boot into recovery and flash away.

Second that! Blazer 4.0 had some new frame work baked in... So a full wipe is needed when switching to and from blazer 4.x
I've used calks format all and haven't had any problems

Last time I tried to flash ICS, I got a data partition error and hard bricked my phone. How can I safely get ICS on my phone? I want to try Blend ICS but first I need to flash ICS right? Should I Odin sfhub's stock rooted ICS? If someone could shed some light on how to change to ICS it would be appreciated. I'm currently running Blazer 4.1

I hope this helps.
I found this on the second post of the BLEND ICS in the dev forum. Good luck.
DETAILED FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR 1ST TIME USERS
You will want these items available on your sdcard...
-BLEND ICS v1.7
-BLEND ICS v1.7 Update Zip
-Rogue FB27 Kernel/Recovery
-FC05 Modem
-Mobile Odin from Market (Optional)
Now You Are Ready to Begin the Flash Process...
-Boot to your Current Recovery and do a Nandroid
-Wipe Cache
-Flash the rogue FB27 Kernel/Recovery.
-Wipe Cache
-Flash the FC05 Modem [Also included in the ROM, but doesn't always seem to stick after flashing]
-Wipe Cache
-Flash Calks Wipe all Zip 2 or 3 Times
-Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache 2 or 3 Times Each
-Flash BLEND ICS v1.7
-Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache
-Flash v1.7 Update Zip [Stock for Stock Gapps, Inverted for Inverted Gapps]
-Boot up and Enjoy
**A couple things to note, you will have FC05 Stock Kernel after flashing the Rom, If You want recovery, you need to wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache and Flash the Rogue FB27 Kernel/Recovery again after flashing everything else. Otherwise have the Tar and Odin available to get your recovery back. Some folks have been using the Stock Recovery, but I don't mess with it.
EDIT:
PS... Looks like he will have a new version up tonight. I would recommend waiting and trying the updated version tomorrow. Looks like it will have CWM on it so recovery would be much easier.
Starting from Caulkin's 2.9 ROM (my DD for now..),
-Make a nandroid
- I copy the nandroid to my PC, just in case. (dropbox for double safety)
-If the ICS rom you want to install is a tar, use Odin to flash that ROM.
-if Not, flash a Stock rooted ICS leak tar
-use auto root and install recovery
-flash the zip via recovery
-Use the autoroot tool to root + install recovery (if you didn't just do that)
To go back to GB,
-Flash a GB ROM via Odin (I just use the stock ROM)
-use autoroot to gain root and recovery
-recover your nandroid
-????
-profit!
This procedure has not failed me yet.
I don't know why but I just feel better using Odin to move between GB and ICS. ymmv
Thanks a lot! What happens if I mess up and need to Nandroid back? I believe my brick was caused last time from trying to recover GB from ICS. I had CWM Touch though which may have been why. Does it work if not using Touch?

I flashed the newest alpha build last night. I can connect to wifi with out a problem but as soon as I try to switch over to my Sprint connection all fails. The signal bars never turn blue to show connectivity.
I've tried to ODIN back to FC15, worked fine before I went to FC22. Tried updating PRL and data from settings, no dice. Not sure really what to be looking for when I access *#*#INFO#*#*.
Thanks for looking.

Mine works fine, I would re-download CM9 and try a fresh install.
Doing so now, if that fails do you think going back to a stock leak, getting a connection would be the way to go next?

You could, but in all honesty it just sounds like u either had a bad download or a bad install. Make sure you wipe everything. This is how I installed it...
1.Mobile Odin el26 stock cwm kernel
2.Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache
3.Flash Calks Format ALL
4.Flash CM9
5.Flash Gapps
6.Flash FC22 modem
7.Reboot

I installed that exact way too. I think I can rule out bad download because I used the same files on my other ET4G. No problems with it.
Only thing I did different was formatted the system before I wiped everything. Is there a problem with that?
When you use that file for Odin, it wipes your broadband which is your modem. So do what they said above and install Modem FC22

When I use what file in ODIN, the EL26 recovery? Do or do I not need to mount system before install?
Just tried another fresh install. Redownloaded CM9, GApps, and the FC22 modem. Did not mount system this time. Still no dice.
Im on an ICS ROM, can I do a directboot with mobile odin to the EG4-EL29-directbootCMW-v3.tar.md5 and Then do a complete wipe and flash the el26.cmw Then Flash the new ICS ROM and gapps? The correct gapps for that specific rom of course.
You can flash from within the direct boot CWM kernel, no need to flash the el26 cwm kernel.

Thanks man
Probably a stupid question, and sorry if it's repetitive, but I would rather be safe then sorry...
I too am on a ICS rom (AOKP), by flashing direct boot CWM in PC odin... I can get to another ICS Rom, but I still need to Wipe Factory/data, cache, and dalvik, before flashing another rom in CWM (i.e. PA 1.3 and hybrid apps), correct?
Or in this case, it's prefered I go to El26
Non emergency as I still can get into recovery. Don't really care about fixing the boot loop, thought I'd try out an ics rom. Quick question. I hear about odin'ing back to el26. Is this strictly for changing ics roms or do I need to do this from an el29 rom?
If not, I'm assuming, I can just straight up odin a current rooted stock, then recovery, then a fancy rom. This correct? Maybe throw in the wipe script for good measure?
Reinstall
wipe cache, and dalvik, and try rebooting.
if he doesnt work, wipe everything, do a fresh install.

If your flashing an ICS ROM, always Odin EL26. Next boot into recovery and flash your ICS ROM of choice.
Yeah, I've tried the wiping caches thing, and still nothing.
It was themed with dark fire, but I decided to go into rom tools and play around.
I started messing with the status bar icons, and poof, boot loop/won't boot.
I have a bit of a noob question here. I'm going to odin back to stock as well as factory reset, now if i wanted to use Darkside wipe (assuming its not overkill and unnecessary) would I do that before I odin? Ie launch CWM, run darkside wipe, then go into download and odin?
thanks in advance.

That is the best method to assure you have a clean install. Be aware though, titanium won't work. You will have to root your phone again.
