Hi fellows,
I bought HTC one X in the morning itself, and within 2 hours of purchase was greeted with first random reboot, I've had this phone for 10 hours now, and it has rebooted thrice, with last 2 reboots in 10 min successions when I even didn't touch the phone! Has it to do anything with the software version which is 1.26.720.0..
Has anyone else faced this issue?

See if your SIM card is good and the tray is good closed.
SIM card is good and the tray is properly closed. Called HTC support guy, he told to turn off the phone and turn it on after 2 min. Did that, didn't touch the screen till the phone booted properly. Let's see if reboot happens again.
btw, I was playing teeter which came preinstalled, and that game was lagging! I assume ts pretty light weight game, but still the lag!!
Have to keep to recharge the phone for 8 hours? i.e. the first recharge? Is your device extermely hot? Because sometime overheat tend to reboot the device. Let the device settle down then you can start playing games.
Two more reboots
@ShyamSasi
I did charge the phone for around 2 hours, till the battery came to 80%
The phone becomes warm (not hot) when I use the camera for a long time. I have played that teeter game for only 5-10 min, and it was lagging.
Turn off the device let it chagre for few hours (Offline charging) then see how it is. Nothing works try do a factory reset the device.

Try to do a factory reset, if the problem keep continues, go back to the store and exchange 1.
Hts reboots
I had the same problem and i fully charged a couple of times with the phone off and the battery completely empty and now i have had no restarts for 2-3 days. Hopefully it's gone. Are your phones still rebooting ?
I've had my phone reboot randomly once.
Was using my desktop, then suddenly heard a sound, I thought there was a notification but the phone just rebooted.
Never happened since I got the phone (only about 3 days).
Mine is white and made in Taiwan and running on 1.26xx
Just sharing,
Cheers

Same here - Sense restarts more frequently then phone restart, so it seems like a memory leak/resource issue. Phone has restarted by itself twice in 2 weeks, once it detected a 'crash' and requested I send log. Other time it didn't. It is definitely warm when it restarts so maybe temp ahas something to do with it.
Try disabling fast boot in settings, then restart your phone
Reboots are also caused by SetCPU, in case you use it.

Seems to have made a difference. Sense restart only once in the morning. Wil monitor for a few days. Thanks!
I have had several restarts, all of them while listening to music. Either through the music player or using SR Play (Swedish radio streaming app). With the music player I had the head phones connected. With SR Play I was streaming the audio to a bluetooth device.
Anyone else experienced this?
I had a restart too while listening to music through the ear phones with music controls that i got with my Desire s. That was 5 days ago and not happened since although playback does make a click/pop sound every now and then.

Hi all,
I recently bought a Xperia Arc, all new, as i started using it noticed it reboots itself often, for no reason apparently, its very annoying since it takes about 2 minutes to restart.
It doesn't matter if i'm taking photos, video, playing games, or even in a call, it can reboot anytime, the screen freezes for like 2 secs then shuts off and restarts.
I cant take it to SE cuz i bought it overseas, and since it's my first android i have no idea what's wrong with it.
It's a wonderful phone and don't wanna have to sell it because of that.
Any ideas on what could be happening? and how to fix it?
Thx in advance.

Install both (required for the drivers):
- PC Companion: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/pccompanion/xperiaarc?cc=gb&lc=en
- Update Service: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup.../detailed/updateservice/xperiaarc?cc=gb&lc=en
Use any of them to update/repair the phone back to stock.
Or use the FlashTool and flash it again.
If it continues rebooting after reflashing it, then you need to take it back and get an exchange.

Thanks BluechipJ and daveybaby, im currently at work, so i'll try reflashing it tonight.
I found if the device gets hot (Upper portion of the back, not the battery. I guess that's where the CPU and RAM are), it reboots. It happens more often when I play games while charging. while standing by on battery, mine never reboots by itself. If your problem persists, maybe you need to consider replacing it.
My Xperia Neo used to crash randomly too, usually once a day or once every to days. For some strange reason, it seems to have stopped since I've started using AppKiller and Go Launcher. Right now I'm in the 125th hour of uptime and counting...
yea mine restarts quite often when people call me...im going to take into docomo today and let them know...
been testing it for several days now, the reboots stopped after the flashing
Thanks again
I have flashtool,do I just re run it? will i lose my root/apps/data?
Mine freezes sometimes and then the screem goes of from left to right and reboots
Did you have the same?
Sometimes it runs for 100+ hours and today it happend after 39-46 hours uptime.
It mostly happens when I use it a lot and the RAM was quite low before. Maybe mine runs out of RAM?

Um... could be? Im using a task process killer now so maybe. Try autokilling unnecesary processes.

Mhm, everyone says they do more bad than good.
But I'll look at processes that eat up RAM when it runs for a while. Currently it's fast @ ~ 30 hours uptime.

I have a problem with my Galaxy Nexus turning OFF at night.
I goto bed at night and open the clock app and click the screen to dim it. When I wake up in the morning the phone is OFF. I have to pull the battery in order to boot. The battery is fully charged.
I returned the phone after this happened twice and received a brand new one. I have the same problem with this new device. I have changed the power socket and the charger yet still the problem persists.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?
I have Skype installed and running which maybe the cause. I will keep it OFF for the next few nights to see if this has a positive effect.
Try it without any off your apps installed. If the problem goes away you know it's an app causing the problem. Then start adding them back in batches until the problem re-occurs. Eventually you'll narrow the issue down to one app.

This is happening to me too.
At random times, the phone will refuse to wake from sleep.
Nothing but a battery pull will fix it.
I don't have skype installed.
Have a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360880&highlight=sleep+of+death
Mine started today. Really hope this does not keep happening or I need to return this right away. Missed a few phone calls today and didnt realize until I looked down any my phone was just simply black. Will not wake up or do anything at all. You have to pull the battery. Right before this happened my data was dropping non stop about every 5 minutes for an hour.
I'm trying to stay calm because I love this phone, but between the data drops and the phone turning off im loosing patience quick.
This is happening to me as well. With TWO different phones. The first one I returned to Verizon and now its happening on the second one.
Phone will power off while doing random tasks. The two I've noticed is browsing on the stock browser and texting on the stock texting app.
I'm having the same problem. It's happened twice in the 3 days I've had the phone. It hasn't happened while I'm using it, both times it was when the screen was already off -- it just wouldn't waku up. Nothing short of pulling the battery, letting it sit, then powering on would work.
Couldn't have come at a worse time either, my daughter is in the hospital and I get updates from the surgeons via phone. So now I have to check every 5 minutes and make sure the phone is still on.
Phone is bone stock, out-of-the-box.

it does it when i have skype running too. also i have other other audio apps open. (power amp, tunein, pandora) It's happened twice to me and each time it has been during a skype call while the other apps were running. (in widget form)
shock sensitive in the area right below the camera?
My device just "randomly" switches off (sometimes several times a day). After a long search for a reproducible cause, it seems safe to say that at least some devices seem to be extremely shock sensitive in the area right below the camera (on the back of the device). Even minuscule shocks to this area switch these devices off. Youtube-user 'jardinepatten' demonstrates this problem nicely in a video called "Galaxy Nexus Turning Off".
Lately my galaxy nexus has been shouting down or restarting. If it doesn't restart by itself I have to pull the battery to get it to turn on. It should be noted that each time this has happened Skype has been on in the background. (audio only)
Also there are other audio apps open in the background (power amp) that were occasionally playing during the call. I have headphones on also. I'm on Verizon and my nexus is 1 day old. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi there,
I noticed that you mentioned you used Poweramp and I think this could be your problem. I had the same issues: random reboots, and a few times, my phone would vibrate in my pocket and turned off itself. I returned the phone (luckily still under warranty) and received a brand new replacement.
I started to install the apps one-by-one, and within a couple hours of downloading poweramp (which i had also used in my previous device), my phone froze and shut down without turning on. I had to battery pull a few times, and thankfully, it turned on again.
I uninstalled poweramp, and there has been no issues since (it's been 3 days without poweramp).
Hope this helps.
Hello,
So I bought a G3 the day before yesterday and yesterday was my first day with it, and for that first day my phone had shutdown twice on its own. The first time was when my phone was lying on the bed and doing nothing, it had around 50% battery and was not hot or anything.
The second time was this night i don't know when, i have put my G3 on the charger and went to sleep i woke up and it had shutdown.
I didn't made factory reset when i got i from the box which i will when i come home from work and hopefully this will fix it, but does anyone have a problem like that? If is something serious i will be disappointed to return the phone.
p.s. My previous phone was galaxy s2 and had this king of problem only with custom roms and kernels, but i have not put anything on the G3 yet, except activating the developers options and had switched it to ART and the first time the phone had shutdown i thought that the art was the issue and switched it back to dalvik, the second time though was on dalvik.

I have the exact same problem. The past few days when I go to bed and wake up in the morning, the phone has shut itself off. I haven't rooted or installed any custom roms.
I would advise you both to take a factory reset, only install apps you need for a few days and see if the problem persists, if it doesn't install your apps back one by one as it may well be a particular app causing the reboots.
If you still get reboots after the reset and with no apps installed then you may have to take the phone back to swap it.

Yes as I said in the first post the factory format and hard reset will be the first thing that will be done as soon I am at home. About the apps i have pretty much basic apps (facebook, messenger, soundcloud, etc) all from the market except smashhit of which i have the apk and installed from the internal memory.
Except those apps I have 2 mp3s and some wallpapers and nothing else, becouse when i got my phone it was late on the evening and i had no time to do anything else. So the phone is pretty much out off the box and I was verry frustrated when the secound shutdown happened, becouse i tought the first was from the ART runtime.
Anyway today I will have more time to spend on the phone and we will see what will happend.
p.s. The phone does not reboots, just shuts off.

Is it definitely off or is the phone just stuck on a black screen? It is quite common on some devices when something is not quite right for the kernel to be unable to wake the phone up, the phone is still technically on but stuck in deep sleep.
does holding the power button for 2 seconds turn it on? or do you have to hold it for say 7-8 seconds?

It is definetly shut down around 2 seconds(the normal time to hold the power button to turn on) it turns on and work perfectly and does not show anything suspicious in its behavior, it's super fast, not laggy and etc, may be a little high on ram consumptions but with this havy skin i think it is normal or could not be normal idk, the ram consumptions go from about 1,2GB the lowest i have seen to up to 2,3 the highes i have seen.
Anyway about the shut off think yes defenetly 100% sure it is off, it happend again a while ago and i thoght the same thing may be it si deep asleep even i had chacked the weather 10 min ago and call myself from a friends phone and the operator said that the phone is off or i am somewhere without network covarage.

If you have to remove the battery to get it to restart then its not actually shut off, its just stuck in deep sleep! which is usually caused by a bad app.
Yes if you have to remove the battery the problem is different, i just have to push the power button and it boots right away after it have shuted off by its self........
i didnt have this issue with my 855. but i did a factory reset after i got the phone just for the hell of it
So it's reset time i finally have some time to the some staff on the phone so hopefully everything will be fine. I will post if this fix or not the problem to inform the other people in this thread.

did you have any luck with the problem? I have the same issue, performed a factory reset and restored, hopefully it will fix too..
Hi all!
I have and have had the same problem and think I've pinpointed the problem to Google Search but can't 100% confirm it yet. I didn't do a factory reset when I got the phone and it shutdown during the night. I did a factory reset, made sure it got enough time to update everything properly. Problem was gone and worked fine. HOWEVER, the phone kept asking me which home screen I prefer at random times when I hit the home button. With random I mean like 4+ times per day. I searched the net and found a threat saying that a guy with a G2 solved the problem by removing Google Search updates. So I decided to do just that and get the factory version back and the questions disappeared but guess what, the phone shut down the following night.
Any takers or might this just be random? Note that it was working fine for three days with the updated Google Search and shutdown the first night after the downgrade.
So I did hard reset and so far so good the phone had not shutted down itself, and I updated everything which need to be updated (mentioning this for the guy with the upper post). So far so good I will keep you in touch if something goes bad...

The problem will be resolved?
I suggest take it to your dealer and get it replaced asap. I've seen lots of returned phones(my job at XXXXXXX company ) with the same issue, and as long as the defect is reproducible the dealer will give you a new phone. If it's outa replacement period then they'll probably repair it.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand shut down again but this time it took quite a bit time longer to shut off by its self so i tought the problem was fixed, but it's not, so i am going to the store which i buy it from to replace the device.....
Does this also happen with the korean models?
I've had my G4 for a few months now, never had any problems until recently. The phone just freezes, sometimes just a 'normal' freeze, sometimes half of the screen turns to black/noise. Occassionaly it reboots on its own, but most of the time the power button doesn't respond and I have to take out the battery.
The freeze occurs at any given point, typing a text, being on FB, playing a game, ..
Last sunday I did a factory reset and everything worked perfectly fine until today..haven't installed any new apps or anything..
I hope someone can help me.
Cheers.

maybe its abou to get the infamous bootloop.. need to send it to LG to fix.
Mine did that and went into the bootloop a couple of hours later. It now is at a LG partner for repair. Better safe all data you need right now, just to be safe.
