CM9/MIUI Lovers, ... a great Dev is coming! - HTC One X

Perhaps I am not allowed to mention this, as this dev has been banned from Xda-Developers. (Mods please lock or delete if this is the case)
The dev is known as TripNRaver ... for those of you who do not know, TripNRaver was the first to port a fully functional MIUI 4 and CM9 to sensation in such a short time after the release of ICS. His MIUI build was even better than the official (and still is).
On his twitter, he mentions that he is going to buy an HTC One X .... which means awesome roms are coming ...
Just wanted to share the news ... I hope i don't get flamed for this.

Trip is banned from XDA so he wont be joining us in the One-X section.

XDA MODS

Hey folks,
I've become increasingly concerned with the mods of our forum.
Two kernel projects have been stickied while the americanandroid 35 kernel thread is not nor has tytungs kernel. One of the currently stickied is even essentially a branch of the 35 project that marc1706 (good buddy) began expanding.
As for another issue, the stickied list of roms / kernels thread etc has never included AmeriCanAndroid even weeks after it was brought to the OPs attention. We feel that ignoring our request to be included on the list has partially steered away potential users.
If a mod can rectify these issues it would be awesome.

A pm to forum mods and if required senior mod would have been more appropriate i guess, but since the thread is here now, i guess yeah, the sticky threads should be revised before being accepted as sticky ? or some form of public vote instead of sole admin/mod decision ?

Or perhaps a kernel subforum with no stickies? Only reason I didn't pm a mod is because I'm on my phone so I can't get to the mod list....that and because I'm pretty sure at some point a mod saw two posts by me asking for this fair treatment in a couple of these threads as did the OP of the roms /kernel list as I was responded to by that OP without rectifying the issue.

I remember when a person from your team totally raged at me because your rom wasn't added to my compilation thread.. I had clearly written that people could PM me if they wanted their roms in my list..
Now this ? If you want your kernel stickied, PM a moderator. We can't expect everything to just happen, we must participate ourselves.
+ remember, there are 40+ roms and many kernels out there, so a mod could have easily have missed seeing your kernel thread.
btw, this should be in Q&A
btw 2. tytungs kernel has been stickied.. and it is included in most of the roms.. so if people wants it, it shouldn't be so hard to find it.
Edit:
My compilation thread is stickied, so if people are looking for kernels, they can find yours in my thread

It was me yz, and I didn't rage I more like pointed it out and also made the point that the list seemed a bit redundant considering the nature of the forum thread lists already in existence.
I do appreciate the response.

Dear yz.hd, the mods are humans and can fail, but this is unfair, as was Warren starting development with the new kernel base wich is a success now, and tytungs kernel were always a big support of a huge quantity of roms, so would be good to see the work of this 2 fellas sticked too, I remember that this was already mentioned awhile back..
Its not a critic, we appreciate all the work that you guys do for us, its only a point out to improve our forums, and we now that they are huge, so is a big task, but kernel development is very important for hd2 development..

well, I would rather want none of the kernels to be stickied then.. A lot of good kernels out there. If people wants to install a kernel, they can search.. or check the compilation thread.
Would be unfair (as it is now) if a kernel gets stickied, an one doesn't.. (I understand you)
BUT warrenb haven't PM'ed a mod. We can't expect the mods to read all the post that are being posted. That would just be wrong.
I'm going to be controversial here and say that the mods are fully aware that certain kernels are being stickied. In fact, NRGZ has stickied the SBryan Kernel even though it was queried as to why that should be stickied as important and others such as Marc's/Warrens and Tytungs hasn't.
This is always bound to happen when you sticky certain things and not others. My personal view is that these should be in a wrap up thread like what yz.hd has created and not stickied, else you clog up the 1st page with sticky's.
This is not a slight on NRGZ as this guy is a legend in the HD2 world but this sort of argument is a consequence of poor management.
Mods please take note and give all the devs equal respect for their work.
I'll look into this. Closing the thread off. Any further issues on this should be done in PM.

[KERNEL] Calling out TINY AND CHAD

Tiny and Chad,
Let me first start off by saying I love you guys. Since your development of your kernels for the droid incred the DINC has never ever been a faster better device so thank you.
BUT!!!! You need to update the kernel to support HWA for ICS ROMS. I have been using AOKP ROMS (link: http://forum.aokp.co/page/news) for my DINC instead of preludedrews and moongoosehelixs because their ROMS do not allow me to use your kernel. But their ROMS come with a stock kernel that supports HWA which lets me use Chrome Beta and among other things such as youtube. Being that I have supported you guys for almost 2 years and even donated I am calling you out to fix this finally and once again become the top kernel provider for the DINC. If it takes a donation and donations from your followers (which I am sure there is many) then so be it.
Please please make this happen your kernel is uncanny and I would love to rube it in the faces of those that use that terrible kernel that does not support anything even fast charge..cough (tiamat)...not to mention terrible battery life and very very very veee rrr yyyy slow
With love Martin
EDIT: in no way am I bashing other kernel developers this post was meant to be fun and grab the attention of my favorite kernel developers chad/tiny...
Adding HWA to the Incredikernel series breaks GB compatibility, something very important given that 40-60% of Android devices run Gingerbread as of this posting.

Well they maintain a working sense/aosp kernel why not maintain a sense/aosp/ics kernel ya know? I mean I am no kernel developer so I do not understand the time/hard work that it takes ( I am sure it is long hours of coding) but this kernel is a GOD kernel to use DINC users I would just love to see it have working HWA and I miss chad....never here from the guy anymore...
Wow... So many things wrong with this post:
1) Wrong Section - if it's not some development to share, it doesn't belong in a thread here. Read the rules.
2) Never ask for ETAs - Cyanogenmod's #1 rule, but a good practice to follow with all devs.
3) Demanding a free service from developers who donate their time is wrong
4) Using donations as leverage is wrong. You donated because of their GB kernels, not for future work. They are under no obligation to continue dedicating their lives for any donation amount that would be given on XDA
5) The general rule of the dev community is: If it isn't there, try to learn for yourself and share it with everyone! If not, patiently wait or make kind suggestions in the thread. Do NOT created a new thread with very many demanding words.
I don't think chad or tiny would get offended by this thread, even though it's posted in the wrong section, would likely be better served in the actual thread for the kernel or maybe PMing tiny or chad (and tiny is way more active for the dINC).
But agreed I think it would be a good idea to just separate GB and ICS kernels to improve them both easier and without making sure they are both compatible with each other.
It's all up to the DEV's though, they're the ones doing all the hard work so they can do whatever they wanna do!
No need to ask. I've already given thought to this and pmed chad for assistance. But I don't much like the title or the op. It screamed demand to me. I get that internet sarcasm is sometimes hard to catch.

[DISCUSSION] PKMN rom discussion thread. Keep all your ETA's,Questions, chat here

Here you go guys. Nothing but pure non related questions/posts happening in the development thread and over the last week over 3 mods(at all levels) had to clear up posts.
So to avoid any issues and having members getting infractions and bans keep all your chit chat here.
I will let this thread update on it's own since we are a big community and enjoy J4n's rom so let us enjoy and discuss here about the goodies that J4n and team bring.
Oh and any flaming or posts that are deemed abusive or out of content will be reported and closure of this thread.
Enjoy
ffs - the official thread is stupid. pages upon pages of crap. And people commenting about crap. Nothing development related and a huge waste of time. Glad this thread has been created for nothing crappy posts like the one I am writing. Long may it continue.

not fair on J4n and team and not fair on mods either to have to clear up all the time..and plus i doubt if people want to get banned even if they think there posts are innocent
It's nice to a general discussion added sorry about my little rant on the thread, i was gonna open one but I'm a newbie to the forums.
It would be nice to see android 4.0.4 incorporated into pkmn Rom I've heard that it fixes a lot of bugs ppl have had with HTC one x

Although I have not tried the rom, I will now because of the hype created.
Let's see if the new release is worth the hype it generated.
There is no need anymore for this thread. Thanks to the OP for the good intention. The main thread has been closed due to a new release coming up. Please wait for the thread to be reopened or a new thread to be created. You will be able to ask and discuss everything there.
Have fun.

Petition to Administarator and Moderators - RATS RACE

Dear Moderators,
Please talk with all devs regarding last Mike's post in thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
Below You can find post:
" Just to be clear - my last post was not about users but about competition atmosphere, not sharing, hiding RUUs for even final, release-keys RUUs. If devs are hiding something that is tagged as "final" and "release-keys" and it will be published by htc any day, that means we are in a rats race. I'm against not sharing of "test-keys" software, but hiding "release-keys" one is way too much I can stand. No names here, no offence to anyone, no direct speech to anyone. xda rules allows that behavior so it's legal.
This game is not fair play."
I fully agree with him. Now it's lika RATS RACE
I agree that the hiding of release keys and final builds is unfair. They're from HTC and thus should be available to everyone, allowing the community to grow and for the modding community to prosper. The fact that such items of high importance are hidden from other developers (when they should be available to everyone) is deplorable.
[Off-topic: Still not sure why the thread needed to be closed. Does this mean ARHD is dead on the One X, or is it closed to simply cease discussion within the thread? If ARHD is dead, what's a worthy equivalent?]
Absolutely elmo, it's back to stock for me if Mike stops developing. In fact I've had enough of xda. On the whole it's a helpful community but there is way too much bickering going on, are we not adults here?

It's a shame, the community would be nothing without the sharing of files, ideas and knowledge.
But although unfair it is though, the individuals prerogative.
I just feel it would be a shame if everyone acted acting like this as nothing would ever be achieved or at the very least things would get slowed down for all. Who cares who's first? Ultimately we all choose which developers ROMs, MODS, etc etc we end up using anyhow.
Very little to being first in the long run but maybe a little Kudos.
Couldn't agree more with y'all.

Too bad Mike1986 just leaves all ARHD users behind like this!
He's not reliable to me anymore...This is not a fight to be fought by putting the users in the frontline.
The king is dead. Long live the king! Time to move on.
So, what's the next best thing available if it's a HOX Sense-rom?
I understand his frustration to be honest, although in this case I don't see who he is referring to, not seen the final JB WWE RUU anywhere yet.
The minute it appears on another ROM this thread will be full of demands for a release, with other ROM authors saying their ROM can't be modified for 4 days or so, which I pretty sure isn't enforced?
I do remember a discussion when Mike refused to share something, it was the Sensation time.

D.O.C said:
XDA-Developers is about development.
Rules are already laid down to protect the integrity of our forums, with the sole objective so that development persist, no matter of individual or collective choices.
If a user decides to share a RUU, fine, if not, fine again, and here is the reason why: fortunately development does not depend on RUUs, it depends on sources, and, obviously, developers to work with them. Sources are out there published under a licence that allows anyone to modify them and contribute to them in order to achieve a better product, reason why kernel sources have to be posted everytime you decide to share your custom kernel. Android is open source, reason why xda has boosted over the last few years.
HTC ROMs are not intended to be developed over them (ask their lawyers, heck, ask developers around what they find easier, to compile and modify android sources, or stock firmwares).
Now, development does not depend upon sharing. Sure, sharing is a great thing, it speeds up development and makes it greater, but, it does not depend on it. That is why sharing in our forums is a private choice.
XDA delopers started with a group of individuals that wanted to "tweak and modify" their stock roms (some developers I can see around here, and I am glad they are still around). It was a time of sharing and development, and there werent as many "issues" with this kind of environment back then. We all miss those times, but it is time we let go, we gotta move on and adapt to our current circumstances and stop trying to go backwards .....in short, develop a new mentality towards how we accept and deal with our current users. Afterall, we are in a development forum right?
RUUs are propietary to HTC, if they get "leaked" into our forums, well, thanks to the leaker, but under no cirmcunstance XDA will allow anyone to be "forced" to do something that they cannot/want to do. Not to HTC or any user for that matter. We do not ask anyone to share anything. If a user decides to share, we all win, if he doesnt decide to share, well, that is his choice, but we (by we I reffer to us as a community) do not depend upon anyone to continue what this forum is about, which is and will always be, development.
Hope the above does not cause any confusion that we (or I) support nonsharing but on the contrary, sharing stuff makes development greater and more fun, but we do know that development does not depend on it
Have fun!, but please try to stay within our forum rules, since the nature of this subject I can foresee someone getting angry XD

I did but I changed my mind some time ago already. People do mistakes, only cows don't change their minds.
Also nobody here have 3.14.401.20 RUU.
well im taking my ball and im going home,
if people don't want to share that's up to them, XDA is about sharing knowledge, sharing the ability to build your own roms and such. Too many people are expecting others to do the work for them and this is NOT what XDA is about.
since when was XDA about the final product?
i think some members need to learn a bit before they speak! don't expect others to build your perfect rom for you.
XDA has become a playground full of children who want things done for them, ive not only watched the quality of members go down hill since ive been here but some moderators as well sadly.
xda is no longer a source of information and like minded people it's now all about.. " I WANT I WANT I WANT"

Hey Devs

Hey devs and gals... I feel like i'm new with HTC again since I've been a Samsung user for the last few years. Yet I decided to get an M8 and Sprint gave me a good deal with HKE...
So me having experience with rom and theming development for GSM Samsung phones yet I feel like a totally noob here with HTC and specially with it being CDMA network...
I did a lot of roms porting back in the day for Samsung phones too.. Again I would like to ask devs if they won't mind add me to their team or individual dev to help me out on refreshing my mind about how things work for HTC and CDMA network so I/we can start rom development.
I know this is an international thread but from experience it is compatible but just need to know witch files I need to changed in order to port and build roms off of another carrier/model
Well the best advice i can give you is to "mingle" in some of the dev threads, see what they are doing and read some stickied info threads for the M8. I don't think there are many devs that will "just" add you to their team instantly.
Cheers.

When I used to do Samsung roms. We devs used to be like family. We would work together on everything.
Not like being on a team but we were all friendly and help each other out..
Here however on Sprint forum devs seems to be to each it's own. They don't seem to care to help other devs.

Hope you find a team where you fit in for future development.
