Stuck at Stock Froyo after unlock Bootloader by HTC Tool. Help! - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After using HTC tool to unlock bootloader, my device boots up and my bootloader is locked, Hboot at 1.02. I tried several times and it's now unlocked, but still S-ON. Then, I try to root it using dozens of methods. Finally, my rom is rooted now with super user inside app drawer. However, I can't flash cwm, or new Roms. My recovery shows system 3e, which always check signature of update.zip when flashing. It was 2e as I remembered.
Maybe I am the first one using the Espresso that face this, anyone has any idea about this. I've read through all the threads here, but no help...:-(

go to adb, then boot into fastboot and type "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.1-espresso.img" or whatever cwm u download. then flash any rom and you are good to go. Make sure you paste that cwm.img in the correct folder for your adb. Let me know if it works.

Gonna try it and report soon sir.

Like you I used the HTC tool to unlock bootloader and was able to get it unlocked, but still S-ON. I have tried like 10 different ways to get root, but no success so far. How did you get root?

It does not matter if the screen shows S-ON. I do not remember how it was after I unlocked my bootloader...

Cluster or issues..some quidence requested..

Here are the issues that I am having with a T-Mobile Wildfire S. I am repairing for a customer who cracked the screen..
Replaced the screen, the screen is not responsive (wasnt responsive before replacement). I have researched the issue and found this to be common on the WildFire. I have concluded from numerour post that a "wipe" is needed and to access the HTC Stock Recovery. When Trying to do that, I get the "red triangle"
I have researched the stock recovery issue and well and concluded that I need to flash a new(er) stock recovery in HBOOT. Now, since the screen is not responsive, I can not access the setting to enable "fastboot".
So, in short, I have an unresponsive touch screen. I do not (apparently) have a stock "working" recovery and can not access the setting to enable "fastboot" to flash a stock recovery.
Any Ideas here?
So far, I have read to root without S-OFF. tried to unlock bootloader via HTCDEV, needed to update HBOOT first. Found out that the RUU is not current. Headed to footballs list..downloading the latest TMOUS RUU. Going to attempt to flash it in HBOOT or push it using command prompts.
After that, head back to HTCDEV, unlock bootloader..then flash cwm and superuser and HOPEFULLY can just install a pre-rooted stock ROM.
Does any of that sound like I am on the right track for my issues? Or..am I doing too much? Easier process maybe?

Will try that as soon as I get a Rom on it. Lol, tried "formatting" via cwm...bad idea. Loading back stock Rom and giving that a shot.
I seriously SEARCHED all I could search and didn't find that. 3 days of internet explorer gave me nothing.
Thank you so much for the help!

[Q] Wiped phone through clockwork with s-on, cant restore

I made a mistake rooting a friends droid incredible and left s-on, I have clockwork but it cant flash anything, I presume its because of the s-on. I wiped the phone without a backup to install miui, so I now have a droid incredible that can only get into hboot, clockwork, and fastboot. It also will not install 31img.zips, Yes ive renamed them correctly I just call them 31's. Help please?
You need to flash an RUU in the form of PB31IMG.zip. It needs to be named PB31IMG.zip and on the root of a FAT32 formatted sdcard. If you use the froyo RUU on pvillecomp.com you can use unrevoked to root again though your friend will just want it working.
My HBOOT wont give me the option to flash, it finds it and checks it, but wont let me install. im downloading the froyo ruu right now in hopes that it will connect through fastboot and do it.
What is your hboot version?
Tiny you are more knowledgeable at this than I, but I was wondering
1) would using PB31IMG's fail if used on the 1.02 hboot?
2) If they were to use the unrevoked tool to flash s-off, could they install a rom without having to boot into the already wiped phone?
I am on hboot version 1.02. My nexus and optimus s were so simple.
(sorry for double post) RUU's will not work

Have you used the htc dev site to unkock the bootloader? If not you need to do that, then fastboot flash cwm recovery, then flash superuser thru cwm recovery.

I would try flashing unrevoked forever before doing anything else. Logically this would get you s-off and allow you to flash a ROM. I wouldn't run straight to unlocking your bootloader because it is a lot harder to reverse that than it is to reverse the effects of unrevoked forever. (in the long run, that is. right now there would be no reason to reverse either)

actually bootloader is easy to lock. I think it's fastboot oem lock. You can unlock it again using the same token you used to unlock before that you should save if you decide to do that. Unrevoked forever only works on certain radio versions. With an unlocked bootloader you should be able to flash any PB31IMG.zip as well as flash with fastboot. With S-OFF I know you can flash custom PB31IMG.zip and also older RUUs.

Yes, but doesn't it then say 're-locked bootloader' or something to that effect where verizon or whoever else could tell that it has been unlocked before and therefore void any warranty? Whereas the s-off tool can be reversed using the s-on tool and nobody has to know anything was ever there. I don't have any experience in that department, I'm just speculating based on things that I have read.

Maybe, but I think when you submit for an unlock token is when HTC knows you unlocked your bootloader.
I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed the stock recovery. where can I go from here? can anyone provide an update.zip? all the links seem to be down for the froyo one

That is probably true, I never thought of that. I guess they probably think that I have an unlocked bootloader now too since I made an account and downloaded the tool to help a friend with his phone.

additionally, why did you flash stock recovery vs. CWM? I don't have any experience with stock but CWM seems to be perfect for anything I've ever needed a recovery for. ie - flashing new ROMs or backing up/ restoring ROMs

Do steps 6 - 27 of this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506258 to install cwm recovery and get root. If you want true s-off continue to follow steps 28 - 43.

[Q] Recovery not working / How to root without recovery

First I tried to use the HTC super tool v3 to root my phone; that didn't work. I tried out the new "One Root for WFS" tool; all went well until I had to boot into recovery. I had already run into this problem once before when trying to flash CWM recovery. When I go to it, the screen just hangs at the HTC logo and I have to pull the battery to get out of it.
Why isn't this recovery working? Additionally, is there another way to obtain root without this recovery? (But I really just want a working recovery, to flash roms and make backups and whatnot.)

All I've done is unlock the bootloader through HTCdev. I assumed that was the same as s-off? The recovery seems to push through successfully, I've tried to flash it multiple times now.

Error : No Connection.?

Hey guys! So my cousin bought this used Desire HD. Its running 2.2 Froyo.
So here is the list of the problems:
1. When downloading from Google Play it does not download the app but it can browse. It gives a "Error : No Connection" in the status bar.
2. It should update to 2.3.3 but it says im already updated.
3. Tried factory resetting 2 times. Same thing.
4. Also one weird thing. I live here in Pakistan, so YouTube is blocked here. But the phone does browse YouTube? (it cant open the video though). Some kind of ROM problem i guess so.
What should i do to resurrect this problem? Thank you! Its the International version. "HTC Desire HD A9191".
Also the Serial number is SH11JRX08759
Sent from my Nexus 4.
You could try unlocking the bootloader, root, and install a 4.2.2 custom rom. This will void the warranty but it may be the only way to fix the problem.
Update : so i went into the bootloader. And its pretty strange. Its S-OFF but not rooted :/ that is a really strange issue. Also i have noted the signals to be a bit more weaker.. Can somebody guide me from here?
Here r the pics btw

Power off the phone. When it is off, hold down the volume down button and press the power button. This should get you into the HBoot screen. At the top of the screen, it will either say "UNLOCKED" or "LOCKED". If it is unlocked that's great. If it's not unlocked, look at the HBoot line to make sure the HBoot version on your phone can be unlocked. If it can, just follow the guide posted in this forum to install a 4ext custom recovery to flash custom roms.

root it with z4root, and use the one click eng s-off.I also had a phone brought in the other day, same thing. You must root it with z4root.

download that , run it, temporary root.Enable USB debugging, connect the cable

download that, extract the folder on your desktop or wherever possible, make sure you have ADB drivers installed, run desire hd easy s-off.exe,
and click s-off.It will flash the HBOOT and you're good to go.Make sure you disable fastboot afterwards.(settings>power)
Flash the latest radio found somewhere around here, it will help for GPS connection in newer ROMs.

You need the ENG S-OFF in order to use any actual commands/flash anything. Also rooting won't fix the play store problem, you must change ROM.If I may recommend, SVHD for a sense rom, or CM10.1 for that clean look.

Ok I am going to Temporary Root my DHD by Z4Root
Keep in touch kind sir I will update u the details
Unlock your bootloader first via htc dev. just follow the intructions in htcdev
Note: You need to update your bootloader first
- if the ruu in htcdev runs and update your bootloader, then your good to go
- if not or error appears, then create a goldcard (Instruction can be found somewhere here)
copy the updated hboot zip file to the root of your card and flash the zip file in recovery
then go back to unlocking your bootloader via htcdev
once unlock use the easyaceroottool to root your phone
-this will automatically flash the clockword recovery then you can flash any custom rom that you want.:fingers-crossed:

In the old thread that was here many people rebooted straight away with no problems, they had S-OFF.
Example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19911066&postcount=755
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17336292&postcount=721
just make sure you have a custom ROM ready to be flashed, do not boot the stock again once you reboot to bootloader.Flash 4EXT recovery, you can find the recovery .img here
just DL a ROM of your choice and flash it afterwards.

Obtaining unlock token

Hi all! I have a bit of time on my hands and seeing as my phone has been stupidly slow recently, I thought installing a custom rom would be a good idea.
I've read up on it a little (although probably still not enough) and have started by trying to root my Desire HD. I've been using the 'Easy Unlock Tool' to try and get it to s-off but every time I run it, I get stuck at "obtaining unlock token"
Where is it that I'm going wrong?
Easy Unlock Tool doesn't S-Off your phone or root your phone or flash a custom recovery. It merely unlocks your bootloader. Easy Ace Root Tool unlocks your bootloader, roots your phone, and flashes a custom recovery. But it also doesn't S-Off your phone.
Ah right, well it seems getting my device to be S-OFF isn't easy. Is it actually required to be able to install and run custom roms?
If so, what's the easiest way to do it? The only thing I've found is a guide for advanced users
Unlocking your bootloader also lets you flash custom ROMs.
Good news, I've managed to unlock my bootloader and root my device!
Now I'm just having trouble installing roms, every one I try seems to get stuck on the HTC screen on startup
You must flash the boot.img separately in fast boot, press power + vol down to get into hboot, and select Fastboot
