I'm going to take it to sprint..but thanks for ur reply

Okay so anyone that has this problem if your insured sprint will fix in the service center..but if not what happens is the mesh that is over the mic slides down so that the thicker part is covering the mic making it basically muffled..so what you do is slide that back up so that the thin part is back over the mic on the piece that you talk in to pit phone back together and there you go extremely low mic volume fixed...can I get this sticky for peoples other use..thanks

How difficult is this to do yourself? Any tips or guides? I have this issue but only with cm9, however I won't disregard hardware related till I've tried.

If something's not working (and you're not at fault, which you're obviously not here), that means it's time to call up T-Mobile customer support and exchange your G2.
Thanx

I am having the same problem all of a sudden
Mines functions properly now..all I did was give the speaker a few taps n it started back working
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I saw the Teardown photos of the G2 the other day.
After seeing those, it's clear why this happens. The speaker is basically one piece attached to the back plastic panel with simple contacts built into it. The mating contacts are soldered to the mainboard. When they assemble the phone the contacts just press together. So really it can be very susceptible to dust, drops, bumps, or even slight moisture.
I work in a semi dusty environment though, and I haven't had any issues with mine. But with winter here now I'm sure it will see a lot more moisture so I'm crossing my fingers.

I was luck and able to unload mine for $350 but i think the only reason i got that was because I had flashed it to Boost Mobile. If not for that I wouldn't have gotten that much.
I still have my evo 3d and just got the epic..I think im gonna switch back. Not that the epic is t nice but it really isnt all that much better than the e3d IMO ...the camera is much better. Also my epic isn't playing nice with my airave and constantly making beeping noises through the earpiece ..its driving me nuts ...and I miss sense honestly ..

Not saying the epic isnt good but it wasnt worth coming out of pocket all that $ and I honestly don't feel a speed difference..also the internet checker boards on me like crazy and I think that's strange ..my original evo didn't do that ..maybe I got a ****ty phone

It is normal for 3 beeps to sound when you connect to an airave.
took me two weeks to sell my 3d. people just do not want that thing. on top of that, i only got 275 for it.
Good luck on the trade, but I cant see anyone in their right mind that would trade a s2 for a 3d.

I know that I have had a airwave for years ..the noise I'm talking about is four low beeps from the earpiece when the phone is not being used or if I'm doing anything on the phone ..if I'm listening to music or watching a video it will make the noise and mute the media until its done beeping ...also it wont let me text while in range of the airrave.

Yea I wish that was the case for me..every text says it failed and now they want me to go to a corporate store 30 miles away. I don't wanna go through al that I just want it to work..ill prob just return it and wait for something else to come out ..not bashing the epic but to merits not that much of an improvement over my 3d and I'm sure in a couple months sometibg else will come out that I will really want

How much are u selling it for outright? My wife likes the phone.
The Evo3D Killer!!!
People over here act like the evo 3d is a terrible phone ..that's ridiculous ..I enjoyed it alot ..I will say that I think the epic speaker is louder., with headphones attached it is wayyy louder ..the camera is better ..but besides that with every day use I think they are both top of the line ..I wish I could put sense on this bad boy and it would be perfect ..I dont forsee a y software that either of these devices won't be able to handle for a while to come..and let me ask you guys something ..when. on the internet with the epic do you guys get checker boarding? Like even right now I scroll fast up or down it will give me black and white checker boards ..never happened on my other devices ..is this normal or am I having a issue

Call screen going black

Just a little heads up, I don't know if anyone has faced similar problems, but I just had to replace my phone on warranty, because as soon as i place a call, the screen would go black, and never wake up, leaving me unable to hang up or work automated systems
If I was helpful, give thanks

That would be my guess. The phone goes black so you don't press buttons with your face and is supposed to come back on when pulled away...for those that were not knowing what the issue was

HELP! Is Wifi permantly broken?

My friend has a tmobile galaxy s2 and his mom stabbed the phone right in what I believe is the Wifi reciever. There is corrosion appearing, and there is a terrible smell to it. The wifi radius is severely limited in zone, and wont read every network. There is a picture below, and is there anything I can do to revive the phone wifi receiver?

Physical damage can only be fixed by insurance claim. Will set your friend back 130 bucks. Now, the bigger issue is why would your friends mom stab a phone? Was he protecting himself with the phone from getting stabbed!?

XDA is great at fixing things, hacking and tweaking things.
but if you read all the threads here, you will soon realize 99.999999% of the things people do here are all software related.
You have physical damage done to the phone, there is really no way to figure it out..
Get a new or used phone!

+1 I honestly don't know if it can be fixed. Even so, it will be less trouble just to do a insurance claim, that is if you have it.

If u have the technical knowhow then it's possible to fix it.. You could search YouTube and see what pops up in ways of some kind of tutorial /guide.. But if you are not the kind of person who knows how to do it then it would be way easier just to get it professionally repaired..

Its the fact there is erosion that tells me you can't just replace a piece. How far has the erosion spread? Had it got to the motherboard?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
that component is eroding, and the back cover, the plastic one is close to having a hole into it.

Look up t989 teardown. It looks like that is not the WiFi module, but the signal lead. Seems like its part of the mother board I believe. None the less, if it's just a copper lead it should be repairable. Being exposed may be causing some shorting out leading to the damage and bad connection. Repairing may not make it perfect though.
I was trying to find a tear down video, but couldn't find one. What component would I have to change?

Haptic feedback/vibration completely stopped working

Ok so I dropped my phone off my desk (maybe like 2-3 ft high) onto my hardwood floor (yes, it has a case on it). It was a very minor drop and no nicks or scratches on the case or phone. However, now the haptic feedback / vibration does not work at all. I am currently running SlimBean 4.1.2. It's odd just to see that not working, I would have thought it is part of some other mechanism. Did anyone else experience this? Seems kind of weak (I dropped my OG Epic hundreds of times and it was rock solid and worked every time). Before I flash back to stock LJ7, I figured I'd ask.
P.S. Yes all haptic feedback settings are ON in the ROM (it was working just fine before I dropped it). And no I do not have TEP so replacing this is kind of out of the question; I wouldn't really want to replace this right now anyway because I just bought my GS3 a month ago and don't want a refurb in return. It's not totally a big deal for me, I usually leave haptic off, but vibration I will miss a lot as my phone is usually kept silent at work.
Hate to bump this but any ideas? I'm at a loss here ... I'm surprised no one else has experienced this.
My friend dropped his evo once and the vibrator thingy(for lack of a better word) fell out of place and broke. I unrooted it for him and he got a new one for free. Maybe this could apply to you as well!

Yea I guess it doesn't hurt to try, will give them a call on Monday. Vibration mechanism shouldn't have stopped working when I dropped the phone from 2-3 feet from my desk with it inside a UAG case. Either way, let's see what they come back with.
