Help GNex has no OS and won't connect to a PC!

Windows 8.1; but had same problem with Windows 7 computer.
USB device not recognized
The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned. And Windows does not recognize it.
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported
problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed
Tried using WUGS Toolkit to install drivers, not happening.
The phone charges via usb port with no problems
On top of that, daughter wiped phone, there are no ROMS, or usable backups.
I can get into TWRP Recovery, but it can recover what isn't there. Tried factory
reset, still nothing. No matter what I do, I get No OS Installed! Are you
sure you wish to reboot? If I do reboot, just get GOOGLE screen with lock
symbol.
Without being able to get a computer to see the phone, I can't get a ROM to
load.
Maybe change USB port with cable? But I don't want to do that if the problem
is software related.
Any ideas what I can do???

I just went through something similar like this last week, what a pain in the A$$.
Not entirely sure if this will fix your issue, but hopefully it'll help some how.
I ended up having to manually install galaxy nexus driver so I could sideload a ROM since I formatted my internal storage to test out this new F2FS BS... Anyways.
LOL
First you'll need to download and unzip "universal naked driver 0.72" Google it.
Now, without your GN connected open device manager and THEN when you plug in your GN to your PC you should see it pop up in the portable devices section.
AND also under other devices there should be "galaxy nexus" right click on it and click "update driver software"
Click "browse my computer for driver software" select the unzipped universal naked driver folder, click next and click "install this driver software anyway"
Now it should show "Google galaxy nexus ADB interface" in device manager under Samsung Android Phone.
Reboot GN into bootloader
OR
recovery (if you have a ADB supported recovery eg. TWRP 2.7.0.0, and enter ADB mode)
Now there are 2 ways to do flash an Android OS, some may find 1 easier then the other:
download/install "Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit aka NRT v1.8.3.sfx"
Google it.
Run NRT and it'll instruct and guide you through the steps required and whatever is needed to continue, eg. Select device, download TWRP 2.7.0.0...ETC.
Or
Download/install ADB setup 1.3
Google it.
I found this method a little more simpler.
Open the folder you have your ROM/gapps zip files saved on your PC, hold down shift key and right click on the folder, click "Open command window here"
Now in the command window type in "adb sideload XXXXX.zip"
XXXXX = COPY/PASTE the ROM file name. Eg. 20140615PA443RC2.zip
Press enter and now it'll flash the ROM onto your GN.
Repeat the same steps for gapps/kernel zip files.
Reboot your GN and enjoy.
BTW
I'm still loving running ParanoidAndroid Jellybean 4.1.2.

Its like pain in the A** to install phone/adb drivers in win8/8.1
I had a similar issue with my gNex a while ago but i had the drivers installed in my pc so it wasn't that difficult.
Why don't you try to install this toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../gnex-toolkit-v11-1-0-drivers-backup-t1392310
When you run the toolkit, it may ask you to select your device, build number etc and also about installing device drivers.
Install the drivers through it and then connect the device in recovery (twrp) mode.
it should detect it and then you can push files/roms to sdcard (internalMemory) using adb push or the built in options in the toolkit.
then flash the rom and you're done
and i recommend using win7 or xp or vista for doing this because the driver installation in win8/8.1 is a bit difficult compared with other previous windows versions but there is still a way to install drivers in win8/8.1 its just a lengthy process

OK, downloaded universal naked driver 0.72, connected gnex, but it only shows up under Universal Serial Bus controllers as Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed), not under Portable Devices, and will not allow install of of universal naked drivers, & yes I have toggled to allow win 8.1 to installed unsigned drivers. Since I cannot get phone to turn on to full android, it is not recognized. Any other suggestions?

You have to go to the device manager, double click on the "unknown usb..."
a dialog box may appear and then click on the 'driver' tab.
There u may find update/install driver button.
click on it and another window may open.
then select browse my computer for driver software and go to the respective folder where the drivers are.
then click next and it may install the drivers.
if you have installed the toolkit then you may find a folder in the toolkit's installation folder which has drivers in it.go through it if you want :good:

sm3 driver

hello guys, just bought that amazing watch today i have an issue. How can i connect it to my pc ? I plug in the usb, while sm3 is off. Win7 start to install and at the end it fails because of the drivers. So my pc doesn't recognise it. I can only see the "empty" E:/ Disk. Any suggestion ?

edit: unistalled the "watch" and then plugged in again and drivers get istalled. Now i have a "sony file-cd usb gadget" . help me pls

I have exactly the same problem.
i installed the Google USB Driver from theAndroid SDK Manager and also installed the Sony PC Companion. But the Smartwatch 3 still shows in the device manager under "other devices" without installed driver.
The only way i could connect to it is using ADB over Bluetooth which is really slow.
Anyone any idea?

after installation, i went to device manager, update drivers, search pc for drivers, choose from a list of...., and then i selscted adb testing interface version 3.12.0.0
i had to skip the warnin popup, but adb is working fine

i could not find any "adb testing interface" so i installed "Google Nexus 7 ADB Interface" from the list and so far it seems to work with that too.
Not sure why you have such a testing interface driver.

Drivers can be found in this folder : Program Files (x86)/Sony/Sony PC Companion/Drivers/

The Driver used in the bootloader is a different one. I have no issue there.
But it seems there is no actual ADB Driver used when the device is in normal operation mode for debugging apps or pushing apps directly over ADB on to the device.

[Q] Win7 drivers not recognizing phone

It's my first try ever to install a new ROM. I was trying to install CM on my Note 2 (ATT) following the Install_CM_for_t0lte tutorial on cyanogenmod.
Everything was going smoothly until I try to push the CM build with ADB and find that ADB doesn't recognize any devices. I head over the Samsung to get the SGH-I317 USB drivers but the first driver (1.5.45.0) doesn't fix the problem. There's a second driver there (1.5.14.0) and I try it with no luck as well.
I've been searching for an hour and I still don't know what to do. Pretty much everyone says get drivers from Samsung, but they aren't working for me.
The Win7 Device Manager has an entry in "Other devices > SAMSUNG-SGH-I317" that says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)".
Things I've tried:
- The drivers from Heimdall's zadig work for Heimdall, but apparently not ADB ("adb devices" is empty).
- I've tried both front and back USB ports with multiple cables.
- I've tried stopping and restarting the adb server
Without the drivers, ADB doesn't see my phone and I can't push a new build to my freshly wiped phone.
Please help!

How do I install Huawei Watch drivers for ADB? [solved]

Hi
ADK is working fine with my other devices, but my PC can't seem to install the drivers for Huawei Watch. The devices is in the device manager, but a little yellow triangle at the side, which means the device drivers are not installed.
I have tried Google, but the guides just say install the devices drivers but clicking update in Device manager with the xx file I downloaded, but windows can't see the file.

only pdanet drivers works for me for adb but in twrp i cannot connect to pc . how have you solved the issue i have same problem in device manager. tried more than 6 ways after googling pc

i've tried pdanet drivers 64bit on my win7 64bit version.
but the installation cannot continue.. did u success installing pdanet ? what version of your windows u have ?

why is this marked as solved because i dont see the solution. i just received my watch today and cant seem to get device manager to recognize any drivers.

Universal Naked driver 0.73 doesnt work even after modifying the android_winusb file
I even installed the Google USB driver from the SDK Manager, but i dont see anything on my machine.

i was trying all day on my work computer which runs windows 7 x64 with no luck, but the watch was detected immediately on my windows 10 machine at home. strange.

I fixed my issue! I had the same issue everyone here mostly had. I could unlock the bootloader, but I couldn't get the Fastboot recovery to work because the drivers were not detected by Windows 10, or my other Windows 7 machine. Both machines installed a standard version of Google Android device drivers and boot loader drivers, but they were not detected by ADB commands once in the bootloader.
First I went here to download all the drivers, but got stuck:

So what I did was ran the commands to reboot to bootloader, then flash commands for the recovery, left my device plugged in. Then I went into the Windows Device manager, and looked for the Android or Adb drivers loaded. I double clicked the driver, and clicked on uninstall driver, and told windows to delete the drivers. I then unplugged my device (still in bootloader mode), plugged it back and in windows instantly detected the ADB flash commands and boom, TWRP recovery completed.
Hope this helps some of you.

Weird as it may be, I managed to get Hwatch to connect to ADB via USB by installing the watch as a Motorola Android Sooner Composite ADB Interface - in device manager-update driver-select from PC-select from device list-android usb device-motorola

Is there anything what i can do when my classic watch is NOT recognized on both pc and notebook? I hear no sound, i can´t see anything in device manager...any help?

Can't get sdk to detect my device when is fastboot/bootloader.

Ever since the latest oxygen os update, my device got wiped from it's root and twrp. And for the past week when I have been trying to reroot it (w/ the bootloader unlocked) it won't even bother to detect the devices. I have tried reinstalling the drivers, using and different port, fasboot.exe, rebooting my pc, etc but nothing is working. Also, it detects it as an ADB device.
I really need this to be fixed asap as I will be sending my device for a screen repair and will loose all my data if I don't root my device and use titanium backup.

I have the same issue and am curious how this is fixed. I have Windows 10 and the oneplus three. ADB recognizes device and "adb reboot bootloader" reboots the phone into bootloader. Then "fastboot devices" just says searching for devices. I am tired of having to use my widows 7 laptop each time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My phone not recognised on pc. Not even on twrp. I reinstaled drivers, adb..., nothing. Then i tryied on pc at work. Booom! it works. When I arrived home i've reinstaled windows on my laptop. 100% works.

had the very same issue. the phone would detect properly on my work laptop running Win 7 but wouldn't recognise on my home PC running Win10. Tried every ADB tool and driver available out there. But nothing seemed to work.
Problem is with driver conflicts.
Then tried the age old method of factory reseting my PC, installed Minimal ADB tool and voila!!!
everything started like a charm.

First of all go into Windows drivrs and select hidden drivers and delete your entire driver history for that machine and reboot, then connect your phone whilst it's booted up so it can install.
Connect phone in fastboot and let it install. After this you need to manually update the driver for the phone unless it's already showing "android bootloader interface" in device manager. Finally check over android SDK so it's up to date and you'll be good to go.
