Button backlight working / not working?! - HTC One X

Hi
does anybody experienced the issue that the button backlight is not working everytime?
On my device button backlight often is not switched on when pressing the button. Switching the device off and on again helps sometimes.
Anybody else having this problem?
Frank

Works with lightsensor, dark--> on, light--> off.

That was my thought too. But even in darkest light conditions backlight is not switching on...

Try covering the detector located to the left of the HTC logo at the front to see if it works. Else you might want to DOA the device.

Welcome to the dark side
You are not alone with this issue, it has been mentioned a few times, you have to be in almost a blacked out room to get the buttons to light up. As before test by putting your thumb/finger over the right hand side of the speak at the front (location of light Sensor) if they come on then it works (just not very well)

Bug? Or Feature?

Seems that if I close the phone app, or slide the keyboard shut and then while the buttons are still lit I turn the phone off (standby), they'll stay lit indefinitely. If I turn the phone back on after the normal timeout period they'll go out immediately. But unless I do so they'll stay on.
Anyone else notice this on their phone? Is there a way to prevent it?
I'm on EnergyROM Leo build 21877 and I couldn't replicate this. I'd say it's definitely a bug, but unfortunately I don't know how you'd prevent this other than waiting for the buttons to turn off.
So if your front buttons are lit and you turn your phone off the button lights immediately go out?
Something else I found sort of odd is that the phone and end buttons are not colored green and red respectively. That's purely an aesthetics things, but uncommon at least in the phones I've owned.
The light thing is somewhat inconvenient. When taking a call I have to wait four or five seconds after hanging up before the lights go out and I can turn the phone off. If nothing else a registry edit that would allow the lights to extinguish quicker than that would be a handy workaround.

Can confirm my lights are OFF when charging via USB on PC. Win 7 x64 if you really care...
Edit: Assuming the screen is off. If screen on, lights are triggered by ambient light level. Try covering the earpiece to prove it.

Display issue with htc tilt 2 screen

My screen's backlight would not work after i press the sleep button. It would respond because as I randomly scroll through the screen I can feel the vibration of the touchflo and if i hold the phone up steady in a certain area with enough ligh such as the glare of the sun I can partially see the screen but its very hard. Only after i reset it the screen would come back in and the backlight would work until it goes into sleep mode after being inactive. I have tried installing a new Rom but it still didnt solve the problem. What do I do to repair this? I was assuming it was the flex but then I thought if it was the flex the screen would not work at all ? Can somebody help me

I'm assuming you aren't asking where the backlight controls are. It seems like you're saying that the backlight simply doesn't come back on after putting the device to sleep.
If you are flashing custom ROMs, preform a task29 (search) and then re-flash the device. If this doesn't fix the problem (make sure you test it before installing anything.), flash the latest stock ROM and see if it continues. If so, see about a warranty repair/exchange.
If this is on a stock ROM, re-flash the latest stock ROM and see if this behavior continues. Test it before installing anything. If it doesn't clear up, ask your carrier about a repair or exchange.

[Q] Proximity Sensor Issue

I've noticed that the proximity sensor seems not to work properly anymore. The screen will turn off when near the ear during calls and turned back on right away when I took it away from my face just a little. Now it seems that the screen stays turned off for a longer period of time when taking it away from my face, I have to hit the power button to turn the screen on and sometimes multiple times. I never dropped my phone once, and my phone was never rooted with a custom rom it was all stock. Is anyone else having these issues? I have even changed the Power ON OFF Cable flex Proximity Sensor. I did a diagnostic *#*#3424#*#* P-sensor but when I cover the sensor only the lights menu turns on the screen doesn’t get black.
Thanks for help

Screen turns on while on call - proximity?

S20 Ultra : Often when on phone call the screen turns on, resulting in ear/head pushing buttons on the screen.
Anyone else experiencing this annoying issue?
Thanks,

I had this on my Samsung Galaxy S10 plus.
It is a very nasty problem.
Unfortunately I didn't find how to fix it
These proximity sensors are really not very good. I had to teach myself to always press the power buttons while on a call just to have the screen protected from ear touches.
Well, the thing is that initially it DOES turn the screen off when calling / receiving a call, but i.e. a minute into the conversation in can turn on, creating problems. So turning the screen off with button would not help me here :-/ ....
No one else experiencing this??

Exactly the same as it was happening to me.
That is why I learnt to use the power button. Because once the screen lights up after sometime, it's already on lock screen and can't activate anything with your ear.
