Any looking to buy a soft bricked Epic 4G touch? I have already bought another Epic and I just don't feel like paying the jig or paying for a new one. ESN is good and phone worked well before.
So....buying another Epic was cheaper then a jig? Sounds like a hard brick to me.
Actually, I bought two at the same time one from Sprint and the other from someone who bought a Motorola Photon 4G. They both worked and one was justy rooted. I have no reason to lie. Plus I'll agree to a return

Can I second the question? I'm looking for a testing device myself.
Yeah, having a testing device would be nice.
I would like to sell the device for $300.00 but I know that a jig has to be done on the device, so I will like to ask for $250.00. I am willing to negotiate, if you private message me. I am willing to offer a return, if unhappy.
Completely willing to negotiate on price
What you mean by soft brick can you explain please

Sounds sketchy. You won't spend 5$ on a jig but you'll take 50$ off the price?
That logic is fundamentally flawed.
This should also be in the market place, right?

Wait, is your phone defective or are you just wanting root? If its defective (as in something is broken) it would depend on your warranty. From my experience, verizon only replaces a phone with the same one or of equal.
Where are you planning on getting the thunderbolt? If through Verizon or a certified reseller, then you have nothing to worry about. If you buy off cl or eBay, then it can go either way, but most likely they won't help.

Thank you so much for suggesting this! Immediately went to craigslist, and found this guy in my area:

Sending him an email now, and hoping to have S-OFF by the end of the weekend. If you're looking for a clip and haven't tried this, do it. This guy charges 20, which is what I would expect to throw in for use of a clip anyway.

So I'm guessing you don't have the warranty anymore?
Would the phone still be covered under manufacturer warranty? Like if the phone itself is defective, can I still get a CLNR?

What do you mean? It should have warranty.

I am 99% sure that if you trade you phone for another phone on craigslist, you will not have any warranty on the new craigslist phone. Warranty will only cover the original owner. I can't possibly see Verizon condoning people swapping their phones with one another on craigslist. The whole thing just seems real sketchy to me.
From Verizon's website:
"IX. OTHER CONDITIONS:
A. This Warranty or Service Contract is extended to the original subscriber buyer only and may not be assigned or transferred to subsequent subscriber buyers"
This would indicate to me, that if I traded or sold my phone to you, even though I have an extended warranty on it, the warranty eligibility would NOT be transferred to you. I would highly recommend NOT doing this.

My apologies I don't know whether to put this here or in Q&A.
I went to Sprint, RadioShack, Best Buy, and the spot on the XDA website and got several drastically different trade-in values for my phone. The range has been from $50 to $80 (over $115 on a best buy giftcard). I then see people here and on google+ selling it for $100 to $250 for thiers.
My original plan is to wait for someone to miss the physical keyboard enough to trade their Epic Touch for my Epic. But I doubt that so how much is this phone really worth? Sprint still sells it over $500 and I know I can't ask the $499 for it ($300 probably still be to high) so what is reasonable (and most profitable) asking price (or price range)? OR is there a way to get more for trade-in?

no one here is going to really get 200-250.
you can find very good condition epics on craigslist for 125 all day with all accesories. i just bought a "bricked" epic yesterday to play with for 51.80 on ebay. im sure ill get it running in a matter of minutes of getting it.
these people asking 225, but then claim we are all a freindly super happy community should sell them on here for a more appropriate price to thier geek buddies.
I see. Well I guess criagslist is my best bet. I'll have to wait until November when I'll have extra money.
Sent from my un-rooted Samsung Epic 4G with XDA Premium
I would think the retail price of the Epic will plummet soon after the release of the Touch so it may be harder to get anything over $100 selling a used one. I know there have been recent instances of people getting $200 for Epics (usually unlocked ones), but most sales are in the $125 range as austin420 said. I'm probably going to ditch mine once I upgrade next month, so we'll see what the market dictates then.
You're probably right. Also anyone know how much the Epic Touch is with the one year $75 upgrade (cause clearly $199 is more than just $150 off)?
Sent from my un-rooted Samsung Epic 4G with XDA Premium
I sold mine for $215 but it was new (backup phone). My current Epic is in near mint condition and I'd be thrilled if I got $150 for it once the replacement drops.

I would personally pay a little more for a phone from here than I would from craigslist. I just feel like I can trust you guys a little more and I think take the same care with your phones that I take with mines.
Nothing would be worse than the get a perfectly working phone on craigslist at the time and then have it stop working a week later due to water damage. Sure, I can happen anywhere. I'm just a little more trusting about you forum strangers.

Ok let's try this, how much would YOU be willing to pay for:
-Used, fully functioning Samsung Epic 4G runing Android 2.2 an has never been rooted.
-Orignal Box and Manual
-Original USB charger
-2GB AND 256MB MicroSD cards and adapters and small protective case for them
Or would you be willing to trade a Samsung Epic Touch (even if was just the phone with no charger or microSD) for the above? (Really wants this phone x.x) Though I don't expect any one to want to trade at least not for another couple of months.
Sent from my un-rooted Samsung Epic 4G with XDA Premium
You might get $120 for it but people are gonna be disappointed with no 16gb sd card since that's what it shipped with.
You might find someone willing to trade for the epic touch if you throw in $150+ with your phone.
I think your best bet is to order the epic touch when you find a deal, wirefly had it for $130 pre-order a couple weeks ago, then sell your epic4g to recover most of the cost.
Edit 2: I have seen some epics trade for nexus s 4g's so that might be something to look at as well.
The thing you have to think about when trading/selling phones: are you selling a phone and an upgrade credit, are you buying a phone and an upgrade credit? That's why newer phones sell for so much more because it cost someone their upgrade credit to get it.
Ok thanks

In perfect condition however and most users will fall under either poor or fair condition which results in like 15 to 20$ not worth it if you ask me if your going to keep it. If I were to get atleast 50 then yeah. But what's stupid is the evo gets more money yet its even older than the epic

The reason for that was simply the cost of the Epic $300 vs $200 (I did get a $100 rebate later), because I went to the store to buy an Evo, but the Epic had just arrived and when I saw the displays side by side, it was no contest. Epic was and stii is superior. That happens often though, the best gets beaten by lesser tech due to price (ala VHS vs Betamax)

Maybe true, but HTC has many loyal customers. I like HTC Sense a lot, and although the S3 certainly seems like a better phone software-wise, I am still more interested in the EVO LTE because I prefer Sense over TouchWiz. Also, the EVO LTE has a kickstand! I may be one of the few people who still actually use it.

That's why you don't use sprints buyback. Craigslist or ebay or swappa are the best route, if you don't sign up for best buys buyback. Best buy does sliding scale based on age of device and current retail. The evo4g was getting $325 when the s3 came out at best buys buyback and 275 when the note 2 dropped.

I like to break stuff!

If he (or she) is asking if it's worth buying, then the motivation for WHY the person's buying it is, indeed, reasonable to ask. Otherwise how can I give an informed answer?
Seriously, if the person merely started a thread and said, "I'm going to buy a second Epic 4G Touch," and I responded with my questions, the surprisingly rude responses to my question would be justified as it would, indeed, be none of my business. But when a person actually ASKS our advice on whether or not the purchase is worth it without a shred of supporting data, it's COMPLETELY acceptable to ask them why they want to buy it before I give my answer. Their motive WILL change the answer.
Just thought it would be good to have a spare.... lol.
Was possibly thinking of flashing it to boost or something.
If you don't buy it, I will.

I can't believe it's actually called skeet shooting, lol. The closest I've been to doing that is watching porn.
