Anybody able to recommend A decently priced pocket amp? Since voodoo sound isn't compatible with this device and volume plus sucks I need something to go with my new headphones

Haha, yeah it's fine. I was just letting you know there was a typo.
As for your question, you might want to look into some ROM, I believe some have it included (probably mostly Gingerbread ROMs).
If you don't want to flash any custom ROMs, I'm sure there's something but I'm just not aware, since I don't use any of that lol. Sorry.

well i came from the epic 4g and in order to use voodoo plus you had to have a compatable kernel, and there were many custom kernels that could be flashed to any custom rom. Right now im running codename android ics. from what i saw in the development forum there are no custom kernels, and no voodoo for ics. I will have to read around on some gb threads to check for voodoo

Yeah, I know there is some GB kernels that support it.
This should have it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341564.

Gunslinger kernel EL29 has louder app compatibility baked in. It's a paid app though. I don't know if the dev for the app has all the snafus ironed out yet.

Have you tried a boostaroo amp?

Yes but the louder app just makes it louder, no sound improvement, and no I have not,I haven't tried any pocket amp.I kinda want someone to give me a good recommendation of one before I buy one.

The ROM I'm using has DSPManager 1.0 included, it's not in the Play Store (Market) though.
You can Google it though, although I think it's just an equalizer or something? Not sure if that's of any help.

i actaully know about dspmanager from my time witht he epic 4g, on that device it couldnt really compare with the combination of volume+ and voodoo i had set up. but at this point im willing to try anything

for cars.. ( pre-amp into aux) you can build opa! amp.
fiio pocket amps are popular if you want buy and go option.
I was looking into voodoo sound also, but i think Epic touch uses diffrent sound chip than voodoo sound project.

I have no idea if you can find it but I have a Meier Corda Headsix Amp and it is a fantastic portable amp and a reasonable price 150ish new if i remember. I recommend it.

I looked up the amp you suggested it's not the type of amp that fits in my pocket (if I found the right one) the type of amp I'm looking for us like this one here http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004QVPGXK/ref=mp_s_a_9?qid=1334102729&sr=8-9
It gets good reviews on Amazon so I guess I'll take a chance n order it in a week or so. thanks anyway

New to the S2, Tell me what to do!

I got tired of the Sensation and got a t mobile store to match Best Buys price of $199.99 on the Gs2. So far im loving the phone. Rooted and flashed Juggernaut 4.1. I guess my only disappointment would be the dev support here. I made the mistake of assuming it would be similar to the i9100.
But anyways, any other suggestions of what i should do to my phone? opinions on what is the best rom/kernel? so far i have only tried juggernaut, its smooth as hell, but I always love trying new roms. Any stable miui roms?
well u did the essentials, its possible to run roms from the samsung skyrocket too (remember to read the instructions first)
only thing i can say is to use your phone.
that's awesome. will i find the instruction in the skyrocket forums or around here?
Yes the instructions are on this link. only thing u are doing different is after u flash the rom u flash a conversion file then whatever kernel u want. aosp roms dont work according to the thread only touchwiz based roms

heres the miui rom
camera, data, in call audio and a few other things dont work on it

IMO You have done the best you can do with this phone at this point.
Also I must say I made the same mistake thinking that this phone had the same support as the i9100.
Best bet is to stay where you are at and wait for CM9
That's what I plan on doing. The Sensation was rumored to be getting ICS within a month or two... any eta for the gs2?

True, but after how Samsung has been slapping TW over ICS, I am not looking forward to there ICS anytime soon. Hopefully CM9 will produce something for our phone soon.
I thought about switching to another gs2 varient but I like that this phone can use both att and tmobile 3g. Also didn't wanna spend a extra $100 for the g nexus.
It's kinda neat having lots of choices for roms but my only reason for flashing roms were to remove bloat and run a little bit better than stock. With this phone it runs better stock than most phones with their best kernels and roms flashed.

The general sound improvement on the SGS1 with voodoo-sound compared to stock was night and day. Seriously.
So good in fact that coming to the Galaxy Nexus was a bit of a bummer. It's not as good as the SGS1 with Voodoo sound.
The SGS1 went from beeing averagely OKish to ZOMG IS THIS IMPROVEMENT SOFTWARE ALONE? It completely revived my Shure earbuds and my entire MP3 library.
If Francis can do anything remotely close to that on my Galaxy Nexus, there is absolutely nothing on this phone I will be complaining about.

Lol. Atm, and the big picture is don't have time to look at the details. I wasn't looking for an answer like josteink gave. I am looking for a short precise answer like it it custom equalizer, supercurio enhanced, something like audio enhanced or does it correct some flaws in the chip or fill in the gaps. I see too many posts about how good it is rather than why it's good. That's all. Haven't been on xda much lately. Breaking in new equipment and getting more. Video and audio equipment actually. Miss plasma. And great stereo. I am seriously considering getting a turntable because even with vinyl's flaws there is a lot to be enjoyed with it and I miss that.

ICS Builds and Car Docks

Has anyone had any luck getting the SGSII Car dock to work with any of the ICS builds floating around?
Really want to switch to ICS but for me my car dock is a must.
Thanks!
yeah I love ICS but I need my car dock the only workaround that I have done was take the aux cable off and put it on the headphone jack of the phone but that defeats the purpose of having the official car dock.
Not car dock, but with the official Samsung desk dock...no go with ICS. Screen NEVER times out and sleeps! Fine with Gingerbread, however.
Well we need a fix for both because its just terrible having to crank up the speakers and have barely any sound
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA Premium App
I don't have a dock to test this with unfortunately.
Can somebody describe the issue to the fullest detail possible?
Normally I hook up the dock with the dock setting of volume through speakers. With ics the volume is really low even though both the phone and car speaker volume is set to max.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA Premium App
I experience the same thing as bykr_dude15 explains, with all ICS roms. I can turn my radio and phone volume up as high as they go and can just barely hear the audio coming out of the car speakers.
If anyone comes up with anything to test, put it in this thread and I'll be more than happy to give it a try on my phone.
Same here. Having the exact same issue. I can try and get logcats for you if that would help.
I wonder if its a kernel problem. But I too would be happy to test it because this is the only reason I don't want to use the ics roms
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA Premium App
So I broke down and just plugged a cable into the headphone jack for now because ICS is working so damn good on my phone I don't want to go back. but it is a real drag.
I am really thinking this is a kernal issue and can be fixed maybe with the use of something like this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.muteheadlight.dockredir&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm5ldC5tdXRlaGVhZGxpZ2h0LmRvY2tyZWRpciJd
People are having to use this with CM9 also. Just needs to be built into the kernal I guess??
Yeah bro, it's gotta be the colonel. Perhaps Colonel Sanders.
Actually, I'm just messing with you; I have no idea. I didn't even read the thread. I know this is totally off-topic, but, you gotta have at least a few off-topic posts, right?
But yeah, ICS is sweet. There were a lot of 'behind-the-scenes' changes that caused some awesome breakage, though.

I just tried the new ICS leak you mentioned and it didn't fix the issue for me.
Still a no go. Been trying everything that hits the Dev section but have to keep returning to Tuesday|Blu|Ray so I can use my docks.
same problem with me... luckily I found a thread to post on...
I got the AOKP ROM for my AT&T Galaxy S2 i777 ... There is simply no option for the audio to be re-routed through the desktop dock [Samsung Official Desktop Dock] ... I did however got audio after plugging the AUX cable into the headphone jack, of course...
But one thing though, I found this app, called the Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector... but it says the ROM isn't supported... maybe it could be modded in some way?
I asked task650, and he said that it's only possible if the AOKP team includes it...
But I kinda wanna get it right now... I'm willing to try any hacks/mods to do this...
Thanks

Possible fix for JB/CM10/AOKP low volume issue?

My co worked who used to have an ET4G and now has a Galaxy Nexus stumbled upon this MOD. Knowing how must of us running any jb ROM have low headphones/aux issues I thought I could post this to try and help.
There is a tiny problem though.... I flashed this last night. I successfully booted my phone but once everything loaded my phone froze up and just powered cycled. I tryied flashing it with different gapps combinations and different jb ROMs. So with that said... do any of you devs or anyone that want to try to modify this MOD for our phones?? Maybe it will bring a solution this this bug?

Glad to know I wasn't the only one with the audio problem but from my short testing in my car it seemed to only be music related, I'm using double twist. When I got a text message the ringtone was alot louder than the music itself and the volume setting on that was only around half as loud. Things use to be the other way around on ICS. Like someone else posted hopefully there can be a fix soon because I'm loving JB.

From what I can tell from my testing on the E4GT, your headphone and bluetooth volumes are tied to the speaker media volume originally. I haven't seen it in any other builds of CM10, but it seems fairly common in the E4gT's roms.

Low volume

Hello everybody
Some of you might noticed that the volume in some apps (youtube, navigon...) or even media (mp3) is quite low.
This issue is fixed in many roms like cm, xylon and so on.
I want to know if there is any possibility to increase the volume output on 4.2.1 stock, without having root.
thx
Yeah I would like to know too. My iPod touch is a whole lot louder! What gives Google?
Would love to know this too. In fact, the low volume makes me miss quite a few calls and messages during the day when I'm not in the same room as my phone. Also when I show someone a YouTube video the audio is sometimes near impossible to hear on the speaker. Would love to stick with the stock ROM so I hope there is an easy fix.
