[Q] Droid Incredible Boot Loop - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, it finally happened - my Droid Incredible is stuck in a boot loop. It was working one moment, in a boot loop the next... I can enter recovery so I'm not all that worried. However, before I try a complete re-flash, is there anything else I can do? I've heard wiping the cache might help but does that mean both the cache and dalvik cache, or just the cache? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can try wiping both the cache partition and dalvik-cache and see if that helps. If it dosent, wipe everything in the mounts and storage menu in recovery except emmc and sdcard, and then restore a good backup or reflash a fresh rom.

Wiped Dalvik Cache, Now stuck in boot

Can anyone help me?
I am running SkyRaider 3.1 with the Hydra SSUV kernel.
I ran ClockworkMod through Rom Manager, selected wipe cache, then wiped dalvik cache and the phone is now stuck in the boot sequence at the Droid eye screen. It's now been about 20 minutes, so I assume it has had enough time to rebuild itself.
Any ideas? I have a nandroid backup from a few days ago, but I would like to avoid doing that.

It should have completed by now, I hate to say pull the battery.... but if you are really stuck.
go back to recovery wipe Dalvik and Cache Partition, try booting again, it will take quite a bit of time to reboot this time.
If that does not work use your nandroid backup.
BTW always nandroid before making any changes to your phone that way you lose nothing, even if you think they are quick, easy or minor. Hardware has a way of keeping us humble.
Thanks for the recommendation. I had pulled the battery and figured I would try booting to recovery and wiping the cache again to see what happened. Did that and booted in a minute.
Currently doing a new Nandroid backup...

never mind i wiped that too. now it just goes back to clockworkmod.
You might need to restore from a backup, then you can try again. I'm not sure what this zip is that you're talking about.
You did make a backup before flashing, I hope?
yes, i backed up and restored every thing im just having trouble leaving the clockworkmod recovery now. ill try backing it up and restoring it again though

[Q] Flashing Supernova extreme

Hi
I am try to flash Supernova ROM but I can't seem to get past the HTC logo.
I have rooted my desire using unrevoked and I have partitioned my sd card using gparted. I have tried wipe cache's and the davilk cache but it just doesn't boot at all. I am using stock 2.2 and haven't changed any kernals or anything. Anybody got any ideas. I am new to flashing on the desire. I am able to get back to recovery and have restored my back up. I just cant get supernova to work.
Thanks

You tried wiping? Was it successful or not? Wipe all/wipe cache/ wipe dalvik cache (advanced...) should give you "dalvik cache wiped" e.g. if succesful....

Yes all the wipes were successful. I wiped them a couple of times
I had the same problem but just pulled out the battery, did a full wipe again, booted again and it worked. If that doesn't work post this question in the Supernova thread

Boot loop problem

Got a little problem with my phone, after flashing any ROM, it boot loops. It was running CM7.2, I tried to flash m1ndh4x8r's ROM, it bootlooped. I tried to flash Cyanogenmod 7.2 again, bootloop.
Cleared dalvik cache, etc... nothing's working. Any ideas?
Format system then try flashing again, but be very careful when formatting the system. Did you not make any backups before flashing mindhaxers rom?
Apologies, it's working again...
I'm still on bootloop. after turning it on. It stock at the nAa kernel image and doesn't proceed to bootanimation. it just stay the same after a half hour. please help.
done wipe/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
and format system.

[Q] desire stuck on splash screen

After droping my phone my led flash stopped working. so I went into 4ext recovery/wipe-format and did a
wipe cache
Wipe cache+dalvik
Wipe dalvic cache
Wipe battery stats then did a reboot hoping to fix it but after reboot in it is now stuck on the splash screen.
Any way I can fix this without doing a factory reset. I have tried to do a backup restore but I'm getting the md5 mismatch error
Any help appreciated
To restore a Nandroid, you need to wipe completely.
Wipe full and flash the ROM again to avoid bootloops and any other issues.
Sent from my HTC Desire
Was hoping to avoid a wipe but it has to be done. Just doing it now
Hate when you set everything up just the way you want it only to then get a problem like this
