Hi
I am try to flash Supernova ROM but I can't seem to get past the HTC logo.
I have rooted my desire using unrevoked and I have partitioned my sd card using gparted. I have tried wipe cache's and the davilk cache but it just doesn't boot at all. I am using stock 2.2 and haven't changed any kernals or anything. Anybody got any ideas. I am new to flashing on the desire. I am able to get back to recovery and have restored my back up. I just cant get supernova to work.
Thanks

You tried wiping? Was it successful or not? Wipe all/wipe cache/ wipe dalvik cache (advanced...) should give you "dalvik cache wiped" e.g. if succesful....

Yes all the wipes were successful. I wiped them a couple of times
I had the same problem but just pulled out the battery, did a full wipe again, booted again and it worked. If that doesn't work post this question in the Supernova thread

So i've tried flashing Wyrms nightlies (multiple versions) and now skyraider 4.0 and every time i flash the rom, and reboot it gets stuck in a bootloop. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, but i can get back to my backedup roms. Any suggestions?
Are you wiping before flashing the new ROM?
What clockwork recovery version are you using? I've never had an issue with roms causing bootloops, this is my process though it might be a little overkill. Clockwork 2.5.1.2, put rom on SD card, boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format boot, format system, format data, format cache, then flash the rom. I say its possibly overkill because I think most roms install scripts do some of those wipes for you but I've never run into bootloops after rom installation.

yes do all for the cleanest install, I only do this if switching ROMs, or a developer tells you too in his updated thread. Some do it after every update. Basically I just overwrite old ROM with new update, which doesn't erase your data(always wipe dalvik and cache prior to doing this). Wiping data erases everything you've done to the newly installed ROM. Sometimes not doing a clean install even from the same ROM update can cause issues with certain apps that are reading your data. I had this issue with one app last update to jellybomb jb ROM.
Assuming you mean factory reset when u say wipe data. If u actually choose the "wipe data" option it will wipe internal sd.
But yes all 3 should be wiped, however factory reset usually wipes cache and dalvik-cache too. So factory reset by itself should do just fine
Hi All,
So I've just unlocked my bootloader, flashed .79 firmware and flashed DooMKernel v14
My question is what do i need to do before installing the ROM from my SD card
Format the phone "Factory Reset"?
Wipe dalvik cache?
Wipe cache partition?
Also if I'm wanting to try another ROM do I need to do any of the above before installing a different one?
Thanks

Yes wipe data(factory reset), then wipe dalvik cache and cache. You need to do this when switching ROMs. If its an update of same ROM and OP say there is no need for wipes then dont, otherwise always wipe.

Re: Before installing ROM
Dalvik is contained in /data if I remember. I thought it was system, data, and cache that you had to wipe.

Yep I agree
I do the following:
(1) Wipe cache/data/advanced dalvik cache
(2) Mounts&Storage format cache/data/system
(3) Install rom.
Maybe you do not need to do all that but I do and don't get any bootloops
I'm using CM7.2 with Link2SD. Everything was working fine for a long time, until just now... I wiped Dalvik cache, and the phone got into bootloop after restart... How is this even possible? Then wiped cache partition, still nothing. I don't want to factory reset... Is there a simple way to bring it to life?

Need a few more details:
- What were your trying to do? Why did you wipe dalvik in the first place?
- How did you partition your sd card?
- Which hboot are you on?
I take it you can still get into recovery? Make a backup anyway, you can recover stuff afterwards in the event you have to full wipe.
I've personally never had any luck with Link2SD, with CM7 I recommend you are on cm7r2 hboot and use S2E or Darktremor for A2SD, use either to move apps and dalvik to sd-ext.
Hi all,
I have installed cm-11-20140726-NIGHTLY-marvel and CronMod-INT2EXT+ on HTC Wildfire S.
Everything works fine.
After trying to use the Cron's Dalvik-Cache Wipe Tool (zip install from Clockwork mod recovery) CM 11 gets stuck on boot animation after restart.
Only factory reset/wipe helps to make it work again.
As I undertood that Dalvik Cache should also be wiped by this tool due to INT2EXT+ and as the built-in Dalvik Cache wipe clears the different location, I am puzzled how to make this work after installing e.g. Google apps package - gapps.
Any ideas?
