Radio LOSS and LTE issuez - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
I recently flashed patient zero with the 4.04 system and radios.. ever since then I get signal loss and have to restart my phone as well as when I turn on LTE and there's no 4G signal it won't switch back to 4G.. I posted this question on Droidhive but haven't received a response. Wondering if anyone else is seeing this issue with 4.04. Thanks!

Have you just tried to return to stock? Or at least re-flashing the ROM?

Your on patient zero man... its way less stable than crossbreed . Hence why Droid theory said its for crack flashers who don't mind a few bugs because it has more features.
I'm also on Patient Zero; same thing happens to me. Its a deal with and wait till next build or swap roms
Did you flash the "get ready.zip"? It has the 4.04 radio and baseband . Once I did that I got way less drop outs.

Yeah I flashed the get ready package before flashing the rom..

Finally rooted my nexus

Now what? I used the toolbox which makes rooting and flashing way more useful then what I was used to with my fascinate.
I'm not sure what to do now. I'd like some feedback about which roms you guys are the best.
Like many of you I've been having issues with my radio, no data network, poor signal etc.
Is it worth flashing a new radio? Would it make much difference or is it not worth it? I'd hate to go so far that I can't get back to stock when updates become available.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

as long as you don't brick your phone, you can always go back to stock. There's no difference between going kinda far from stock and all the way from stock. Its just as easy to go back.
Definitely try the 4.0.4 radios.
And what the guy above said...
Returning to stock is always the same.
Flash a few images and relock = stock.
I'm currently using AOKP and I've found it to work for me. Radio-wise, I have no clue but everything works just as it should. I doubt I'll see a real world benefit in having a different radio.
Well, definitely do NOT flash CM9 first. Because once you've tried CM9 all the other roms will just be a disappointment. ;-)
But seriously, just try a few roms. There are some really good ones. I prefer CM9 (bugless, fast, and friendly for your battery), but AOKP is also very popular (feature-rich but some more bugs I believe). It's always easy to make a nandroid backup and restore it whenever you want.
Thanks all. After bricking my fascinate twice I became a little gun shy when it comes to mods. The tool box makes it so simple though, I couldn't resist. I'm trying cm9 as soon as I get home

I actually just rooted yesterday to combat my extremely poor signal here in Chicago on T-Mobile. My problem now is I have zero service on nearly every radio now. Tried them all waited 10 mins and rebooted and no signal bars. On 2 of them I can get bars but no service. I have upload arrows absolutely no download arrows. And I'm actually trying to load the market or xda and it just times out.
Edit: Sorry for the thread hijack buddy. Found my exact issue here.

Question about 4.04 IMM76K radios

I tried posting this in the radio thread but I don't have 10 posts yet flashed the 4.04 IMM76K radios and boot loader on my Verizon LTE nexus three days ago and since then my notifications have been all jacked up. I've been only receiving texts and whatsapp messages. No Gmail, fb messages, or gchat. Anyone else having this problem? Also I know the blue means you're synced to google , is it normal to not be synced regularly? Whenever I switch to 4G it takes a long time to sync and when it does it doesn't stick too long. Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a radios issue try other radios

Try doing a battery pull and SIM pull. That should update your PRL for the GNex 4G automatically.
Are you on stock or a ROM or Kernel? It could be a bug in an experimental ROM or Kernel.
Usually radios are for transitioning between Airplane Mode/2G/3G/4G from what I know. Its the PRL that's reception.
Also are those radios the new OTA ones that just got received a week or so ago?
I'm running AOKP milestone 4 along with the latest lean kernel and the OTA 4.0.4 radios and everything is running perfectly fine.

I will try the battery and sim pull. Yeah these are the OTA radios , along with those I'm running AOKP milestone 5 and Jame bond 3.0.19 I think it is. I'll let you know how that goes, thanks for the suggestion
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Yeah I heard there was issues with milestone 5 and the new radios. People complaining about reboots as well.
If the above doesnt work, do a Nandroid backup, as well as backup your apps with TB and flash milestone 4 with the new radios if you haven't.
Then compare the two. I'm having no issues with my setup whatsoever. Good luck and keep us updated.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
So I reset the battery and sim. It seems to have done the trick! Thanks for the help how do you like lean kernel? I'm thinking about switching over
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I like it a lot, I switched over to Franco milestone 3 yesterday and haven't had problems either lol. Can't seem to tell the difference.
Make sure you don't type in that random number they say to update your PRL. The only way to update the PRL for a 4G phone is to do a SIM pull, then once it goes back in and you turn the phone on, it updates it.
Also when you are talking about the blue sync...if you mean when the signal bars turn blue, then that means its connected to 3G or 4G. When its gray, its 1x/2G which means its able to make calls ans text but nothing data wise.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Did you just flash the kernel or did you change any of the settings? And yeah I heard that was very bad haha. Are you sure about the data thing? I thought blue meant its connected to the Google servers

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Thus far my favorite mod is my theme . And my favorite kernel is the samurai kernel. Although I have not ran it in a while. Waiting on The developer to finish his app and fix up his kernel a tad.

Heh doesn't sound like an easy fix. The signal anyways. Extracting the PRL is simple. And you need to use your PC not your phone. Though you can do it on your phone as well..
The PRL is the latest as well as the radios. But you could try flashing them again. I think sprints FD02 radios are messed up. I flashed the ones in our development section.
I also only get -100 and -93 which is between 1-2 bars in my house. But just about everywhere else i have 2-4 bars.

Well do you have another sprint phone to compare. It could just be that your area has sucky coverage. No radio or PRL will help you with that. The only thing I can think of is flashing a Verizon PRL. However that will be iffy because if roam too much sprint will cut you.

Should I flash...help

Here's the deal. I have one of the gnex's that had the bad 4g radio and couldn't stay connected to the network logger than 10 minutes. The jb update finally came and fixed. Scared to flash custom Rom in fear old problem might return. Has anyone had one the previously faulty phone and has since flashed a custom Rom with success?

You have nothing to lose but some time if you flash something and don't like it. If the update fixed your problem, almost all custom roms will be using an android version at least equal to what you are running now (most probably newer). You can make a nandroid to restore if you find you have problems with whatever rom you flash. If you don't want to do that, you can always use the factory images posted by google and restore your phone back to the version you are using now. Updated radios probably helped more than anything in a kernel or /system (which is all most custom roms contain - I don't think I've ever seen any that contain radios for the galaxy nexus).
Now running liquid smooth. 4g still strong thanks for the info.

worth switching?

Hi , I'm currently using Lg g2x
and it seems like this phone is a good option for me right now.
i have a few question for the phone.
1. How are the driver and development support for this phone? ( both from samsung and devs)
my g2x is a pain right now because LG did not release enough drivers and we have no fully working ICS/JB and developments are dying....
2. Are there screen burn in problems?? (This was the major reason why I tried to avoid AMOLED phones)
3. what is your general opinion?
Thank you
This phone and the dev support kicks ass. I had no qualms about keeping this through the S3 cycle, and every time I think I want to upgrade, I'm reminded that this phone does everything I want it to do.

Ex-G2X user here. By all means, go for it if you have a bargain! This is a sweet phone, so stable compare to the G2X.

Dev support is killer!! You'd be crazy to not switch to an S2 or S3.
Im an ex g2x user also and I'd totally make the switch if i were u also

Oh I was reading development thread and I saw that some ROMS need to flash radio? and I read about people flashing radio file. (ULV..etc)
What is it? is it necessary? are there ROMS requiring specific radios? Thanks!

I'm in Canada as well(however with Wind Mobile) and so far the stock koodo or Telus radio suits the best(most reliable, no data drops, etc). You may try different radios from the thread below to see if any of those works better for you with your provider. The stock koodo is there too if you wanna go back to that.
Radios in general affect the mobile signal, data connection and wifi signal. On a side note, the Telus Jellybean release is just around the corner for our device (April), we will see how is the bundled radio performs once it drops.

Flashing a custom rom(unless stated otherwise by the rom developer) won't touch your radio. So in theory your signal and other radio characteristics will remain the same. However based on the feedback in the radio thread some radio performs better for some user depending on their location(most of them are US based Tmobile customer). So it's about trial and error, try them and see if you have better results with different ones (signal, ping, download/upload, voice quality, battery life).
For Wind mobile here in my location (Ottawa) the koodo radio is the champ.
