Hmmmm? More people with the no landscape mode pain in the ass!
Can I ask what network you guys are with? I'm with 3 UK.
Could this be to do with the RUU from whatever carrier has got their filthy mits on our phones after HTC have produced them. Filling them with their branded bloat, and stripping some features perhaps?

I rooted an SG2 after I'm done the phone sticked to landscape Mode so what I did is went to display and calibrate screen it solved it so I still didn't get my one so donno if its an option there just a though wish I helped!
Nope, no option to recalibrate the screen. You can recalibrate the g sensors but that hasn't worked for me. I'm thinking it something wrong with my sense 4 as all my apps recognize landscape mode?

There is definitely a calibrate toich screen option, I saw it myself. I too can't rotate Sense to landscape, although all apps do landscape fine...

I hope you guys realise that there is an auto rotate setting in the menu and that it is off by default.

Yes, but not working with rosie.
Sense was never supposed to work in landscape (on the homescreens). Which is what makes my situation weird. It was stuck on landscape, until I put on auto rotate and now its back on portrait.

You are a lucky man. I think you should post your system image in XDA, so that we can all have the same feature.
I dont consider it lucky lmao. It was stuck, I couldnt put it in portrait at all. And all the apps opened in landscape also.
And i dont know how to even do that
Took some pics of it. Wow its weird. The phone app in landscape shows my entire phonebook on the left side.

If that's true (this is my first Sense device), then that's just another reason Sense needs to go. This has to be the least endearing overlay to an OS that I've ever seen; I've got a dozen or more annoyances with it already beyond it just wasting processor cycles and memory on pointless gloss, and I've yet to find a single worthwhile feature (except the camera app, but there's absolutely no reason that needs to be tied to Sense, and even it has a flaw in that there's no option to focus with press, then take the photo with release, making it difficult to prefocus one-handed).
HTC, you need to stick to hardware and leave the software to the pros.

If you use AdFree, you don't see them.

Well for one, performance reasons. I remember when I had the Android G1 switching between landscape and portrait lagged as I had to wait for the system to be responsive again after opening the keyboard on the homescreen.
Most windows phones are candybars. Only 2 generation 1 models have slide out keyboards
The OS is designed primarily around portrait use. If you were to make the homescreen landscape it would present some design inconsistencies.
It is not necessary. Using the homescreen in landscape mode provides no tangible benefit over portrait mode and could be annoying when lying in bed etc.
well see when i am using my phone in landscape mode, it gets annoying for the screen to go back to portrait so this is why i am wondering if this is possible. There are some phone that can go into portrat mode and dont have a qwerty(non windows phones)
The quick mock-up looks like Windows 8.
yah it looks good but i dont know if it will happen
Nice mockup!
I too am pining for lanscape start, hubs, index search
is there a registry edit maybe in order to add this functionality when I dock my Titan?
I have been using the dock for my Titan a lot lately and wish the start screen would rotate to landscape when I dock or the tiles themselves could simply stay in portrait just rotate accordingly when I dock because the screen is now a landscape position sure there will be a huge black bar off to the right but that's fine and for the hubs and index search too.
there has be some type of edit to change the system into rotating start screen?
Sorry but I think that is impossible, Windows Phone 7 is really closed about the homescreen and mofidications
maybe the app "htc dock mode" could be something for you
Maybe in windows phone it a landscape start screen could come alive

OK, i have the same problem.... Any updates? ive tried disabling/enabling.. etc
Same goes to me, have to switch back stock keyboard then select swype again to get back the keyboard back to resolution.
I also encounter the live wallpaper phase beam does not work at all, as well as HTC account unable to sign up.
WASSUP WITH THIS NEW PHONE?!
Have you guys tried the stock keyboard in swype mode?
This seems to be an app issue not a phone issue.
Is "live wallpaper phase beam" a stock live wallpaper? Again it could be an issue that the wallpaper doesn't support the screen resolution.
As for the "HTC account unable to sign up" this was a little stupid by HTC but they are renewing the htcsense.com website and at the moment new signups are closed. This will hopefully be launched in the near future.
ok managed to get the solutions -
option one - rotate the screen into landscape/portrait and then revert back - its sort of working.
option 2 - download another modded apk and use instead of the swype beta installer version...ive got the apk and can upload somewhere, but by xda rules are we allowed to post swype apk's?

Thanks for the info mate.
Hey guys, I got swype installed on my OneX and was using it for a couple of days. Don't remember what I did but my swype got scaled down to about the bottom 1/5th of the screen which I like, since I can see way much more than the current 1/2 screen.
I encountered the lazy drag ring to unlock bug and had to reset my OneX and then I encountered the same problem as rahularora1 where the swype keyboard got scaled down to the bottom left. I changed input method to HTC touch and back to swype to solve the problem but I wanna get the 1/5 sized keyboard back! anyone knows how to do that?
update:
I managed to somehow activate the small swype again (once again, totally unaware of what I did) did a screencap of how it looks like.
I noticed this problem and get around it by rotating the screen to landscape then back again. It stays correct from then on. (until you kill the process)
Swype author needs to fix
Think there might be a bigger problem with Swype - I think it's the culprit for killing auto-rotate function.
Happened to me twice and had to reset. Didn't reinstall 3rd time and no more problems so far

This is a very, very annoying problem for me.
Since I write in swiss german, which is a completely own language, I was relying on the app "Sms to swype" to import my sms into the dictionary of swype, because teaching it all the thousands of words in swiss german would be a giant PITA.
Problem 1)
Stock Swype (which came built-in with the H1X) won't let me download the german package, which I need for the german forums
Problem 2) Swype Beta (after deinstalling stock) is scaled much too small
I hope Problem 2) gets solved fast, as I can't return to Stock Swype without having to reflash the ARHD, because I somehow messed up the backup with Titanium
Hello guys , I have solution for u for the swype being small.
Download and install swype for Galaxy Note from this thread:

First time it will appear unscaled, do the "rotation trick" and than it will be awesome and with proper size ))
I did it, it works perfectly for me. (I use Cyanogenmod9 port for HOX)
Cheers
I do the rotate trick and it fixes the problem for me, although the keys size has shrunk quite a bit. I prefer the smaller looking keyboard though, as I can see more of the screen above it then.

This is bizarre because sense 4 doesn't natively allow for landscape except when you're using media link or MHL. BUT, I think there 2 possible solutions for you:
1. Calibrate your G Sensor ( from settings -> display).
2. Flash stock ROM and start over.
Hope things work out for you. Otherwise, I'd return my phone and get a new one. Don't unlock your phone if this is what u might do.

Simple free app that is able to give you the above without custom ROMs. Tested on a stock One X that has never been rooted.
Rotation Locker
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.rotationlocker&hl=en
Basically auto rotate does not allow your homescreen to be viewed in landscape. Apps do rotate but not the homescreen. This app allows you to lock your phone into landscape orientation forcing your homescreen to be rotated.
No performance issues. As buttery smooth as portrait mode.
Seen many people ask about landscape homescreens only to be told they need to have custom ROMs. You don't have to.
Hope this helps.
I use apex launcher which allows landscape
I don't know why sense just doesn't allow landscape without an app's help
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Yep. The idea of this post is you don't have to get a third party launcher just for this feature.
HTC's reason is probably "allow less = support less". Less complexity on their end maybe.

Glad I found this topic... Works brilliantly.
Thanks. This looks like it could be really useful with taster and car dock mode
I use Ultimate Rotation Control(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate). Not free but has tasker/locale/settings profile integration
This isn't working for me. I want my homescreen to rotate automatically when I turn it into a landscape orientation. The "Auto" option does not do that. It is either landscape or portrait which is completely pointless.
My HOX does this out of the box you dont need an app for rotating the homescreen. When i rotate my homescreen does it atuomatically.... using music lover skin. On stock FW.

Lock screen? What ROM are you on? ARHD 5.1.0 doesn't do a rotated lockscreen. Dialer is b.t.w.

But it does give a notification all the time.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Apex launcher for me...
How many threads will we get for this?
Sense doesn't allow landscape mode, not unless it's docked!
Only third party apps will alter the rosie.apk.
My stock HTC One X came with a widget called 'Auto rotate'. This is On by default. When turned Off, the standard home screen will be landscape. No need for any app when you just want a forced landscape homescreen in your car like me!
