Simple free app that is able to give you the above without custom ROMs. Tested on a stock One X that has never been rooted.
Rotation Locker
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.rotationlocker&hl=en
Basically auto rotate does not allow your homescreen to be viewed in landscape. Apps do rotate but not the homescreen. This app allows you to lock your phone into landscape orientation forcing your homescreen to be rotated.
No performance issues. As buttery smooth as portrait mode.
Seen many people ask about landscape homescreens only to be told they need to have custom ROMs. You don't have to.
Hope this helps.
I use apex launcher which allows landscape
I don't know why sense just doesn't allow landscape without an app's help
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Yep. The idea of this post is you don't have to get a third party launcher just for this feature.
HTC's reason is probably "allow less = support less". Less complexity on their end maybe.

Glad I found this topic... Works brilliantly.
Thanks. This looks like it could be really useful with taster and car dock mode
I use Ultimate Rotation Control(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate). Not free but has tasker/locale/settings profile integration
This isn't working for me. I want my homescreen to rotate automatically when I turn it into a landscape orientation. The "Auto" option does not do that. It is either landscape or portrait which is completely pointless.
My HOX does this out of the box you dont need an app for rotating the homescreen. When i rotate my homescreen does it atuomatically.... using music lover skin. On stock FW.

Just realised I had to go to "get more" and download this skin. Looks nice though so thanks for saying it existed. Mine isn't rotating though on the stock setup only if I use one of the apps in this thread.

Of the two posted this one does seem to work the best as it can use Force Auto Rotate which is brilliant for when on the homescreen as it will rotate automatically,
Thats weird, today its not doing it. Let me check the settings as it was yesterday. I remember because I hate it when it does that and I assumed it did not out of the box aswell.

How many threads will we get for this?
Sense doesn't allow landscape mode, not unless it's docked!
Only third party apps will alter the rosie.apk.
My stock HTC One X came with a widget called 'Auto rotate'. This is On by default. When turned Off, the standard home screen will be landscape. No need for any app when you just want a forced landscape homescreen in your car like me!

Actually landscape Rosie is possible, G1 ports allow landscape mode, this is because it forces Sense to rotate when u pull out the keyboard, there isnt any accelerometer rotation tho, Im looking into making the process automated, by default landscape mode in Rosie is disabled
Yessss, i'd like it
There will be an official one when HTC release a hardware keyboard device...same thing happened with touch flo.
If you have 2.1 Download an app from market called Helix Launcher, its really awesome and gives you a home screen which rotates and it looks like nexus one, the down side is you cant use Sense Widgets on it. Only the stock android and the widgets which are available in market

Hmmmm? More people with the no landscape mode pain in the ass!
Can I ask what network you guys are with? I'm with 3 UK.
Could this be to do with the RUU from whatever carrier has got their filthy mits on our phones after HTC have produced them. Filling them with their branded bloat, and stripping some features perhaps?

Nope, no option to recalibrate the screen. You can recalibrate the g sensors but that hasn't worked for me. I'm thinking it something wrong with my sense 4 as all my apps recognize landscape mode?

If that's true (this is my first Sense device), then that's just another reason Sense needs to go. This has to be the least endearing overlay to an OS that I've ever seen; I've got a dozen or more annoyances with it already beyond it just wasting processor cycles and memory on pointless gloss, and I've yet to find a single worthwhile feature (except the camera app, but there's absolutely no reason that needs to be tied to Sense, and even it has a flaw in that there's no option to focus with press, then take the photo with release, making it difficult to prefocus one-handed).
HTC, you need to stick to hardware and leave the software to the pros.
Due to overwhelming requests from many mates here, I've decided to release my specially designed theme for Nexus 7.

To being u need to have NOVA launcher, set to 7 rows, 7 columns.
Next u need to download this PSD which includes the wallpaper n the elements.
You can change the wallpaper, fonts and the colour of each section to ur like.
Then save it as JPEG - which is ur wallpaper
http://ge.tt/3Lyv9eL/v/0?c
Next u need an app called "image 2 wallpaper".

Check No resize, then scroll all the way down n set as wallpaper
The following visual will reveal all the widgets i've been using for this theme to success.
You can download from google play.
Once downloaded, u can place them onto home screen.
Pull and Push their size till they fit into each section.
After 10mins u got an Chameleon-liked theme
Hope you all like my theme. Thanks for all the feedbacks. Yes, this theme was inspired by Chameleon
Spent afew hours to design, trial and error so a little donation will be appreciated if u like this theme which is ur new theme now!

First off, awesome job...and I appreciate the time and effort you took to share this awesome set up with us. I do have a couple questions, maybe you can help.
For some reason, battstat pro does not want to display a widget, it just launches the settings for the widget and when I exit, there is no widget on the homescreen.
Also, bobclock and asus weather seem to be cut off, or not the same as yours. I applied the wallpaper with wallpaper wizardrii with only 1 home page and stretched to fit portrait. Maybe you have a better way to apply the wallpaper.
Also, how did you apply power control with a clear background. Below is a screenshot of my device.

This is such a great phone! I'm continued to be surprised by little features here and there.
Here are some of my favorite surprises that I've recently discovered.
(*) Pressing the home button three times, will reduce the size of the display. Similar to the reachability feature on iPhone.
(*) The calendar icon actually shows the current date. And, the clock icon actually shows the current time. Love how Samsung is paying attention to these little details.

Don't need to wait for Marshmallow, this phone already got "Do Not Disturb."
When taking selfie, touch heart rate sensor in the back can also snap picture.

The current date and clock doesn´t shows for me? I did on my Note 4 if I´m not mistaken......
You dont need to touch the camera sensor. Tap in the screen anywhere in selfie mode and it will snap a shot
Here's another one. .. in camera selfie mode just say "cheese" or "smile" ?

It only shows it the stock theme. If you theme the phone with a different theme from the theme store it doesn't show any more.
In selfie mode if you wave at the camera, it recognizes your hand then shows a 3 second countdown before taking the shot. (You need to enable this in the camera settings)

Thanks! I also noted that using Nova it doesn´t work. But it´s not a big deal
Seems like you can also get the floating apps like you can do on the Note series, simply launch an app like youtube, then swipe from the top corner to the middle, and there you have it, a floating app.
Great thread, stuff I wouldn't have found for years on my own!
Instead of the 3 home button tap for one handed mode you can reduce any app to be floating by dragging from the top very left or right of the screen down. Not from the top edge but the top of the screen if that makes sense.

I managed to get a Fold on Wednesday, so obviously I've been fiddling with it ever since.
The main thing that's bugging me is there lack of any third party launchers that support dual layouts for dual screen devices. Not surprising I know since there aren't exactly many around yet, but I'm hopeful that one of the popular launchers will start to support it soon.
Totally and looking forward specially Nova to support. Being my faithful launcher since it's inception.

Hi Sorry can't seems to load the image you have attached on the Folded mode, would you be able to attach it again. Thank you.
Update: The topic we are discussing is that the current launchers don't support the dual layouting for folded and unfolded. That's what we are after. Nova if not fully working. But I would like to Nova to have two different layout from each inside and outside. I hope that will come true one day.
