I ordered my G1 today...so far I've been relatively impressed (though i hate the graphics for the UI...too google like - duh!) I saw a bunch of hands on videos...looks impressive. I'm mad I have to wait until the 22nd of October though.
Also wish they went with a more...sexy Hardware design.
ordering today...rock that until the touch hd comes around on tmobile 3g or winmo 7 comes around in 2023.

2nd, the flow of the software and the usability of it seem great. Just too bad the whole thing looks looks like it was put together by a bunch of people who wouldn't know what design was if a design school fell down and hit them in the head.

Actually, i bought as my birthday gift to myself...hence the 10/22 in my name. Thats when i'm getting it as well.

recently my bud got his hands on a Surround, but it was a demo phone. He flashed it using the ROMs provided in the Surround forum section and everything is working great.
Now he's trying to sell it to get an HD2/7 or a focus, but he doesn't have the box and headphones... Posted on craigslist and he gets replies (posts it for $350) that meets everything and they're all up for the phone but when he mentions that there is no box, people just straight up say no thanks and back out.
what is the disadvantage of having a demo phone?
is there something I'm not understanding?
people would think that its stolen, and most demo phones dont work as they have no user interface or something like that.
bottom line is any phone that had or has demo mode on it and its not @ a store...its stolen...

I would rather buy a used Phone w/o boxes etc... than a Demo phone. regardless of price differences. I feel sorry for whoever bought it.

I had two phone stolen just last week, a Diamond 2, and a Nokia. I got the boxes and receipts, along with the IMEI of course. So whomever stole them is **** out of luck, and I'm glad. Now if he sells them to someone, that person is screwed. And serves him right for buying a stolen phone.

I think it has to do more with the fact it's a relatively new phone without a box. If the phone was a year or a year & a half old it would be less of a problem.
If it's a legit phone (i.e. not stolen and allowable for resale) then he could always try mobile recycle sites.
Not sure where you're (or your friend is) based but here in the UK we have sites like fonebank.com
Only problem with them is they'll give you highly knocked down prices compared to what the phone is actually worth.

in vancouver, people on craigslist are selling HD2s for about 300-500 for a used T8585
- guess i better tell my bud to wait it out... there's nothing wrong with the phone anyways, and might as well keep it since it's a pretty attractive phone.. Or advise him to post it on ebay
My wife and I were at the mall today and I went into a Rogers store (Canadian cell provider), and was comparing the Focus to my Quantum.
A sales monkey came over to see if I needed help and we started chatting. I asked him if the wp7's had been selling he kinda laughed nervously and said he hasn't seen a rep sell one yet. He mentioned that one concern is the lack of multi-tasking. I kinda find that hard to believe. That used to be the rallying cry of all anti-apple people, yet they sold like crazy. And I've yet to see one 'in the wild'. Anecdotal I know, but kinda disappointing. I think it's a fantastic OS, I thought more people would be into it.

The sales man is only a sales man. He only wants to sell you what ever he thinks he can make money off.
As it stands the multitasking functionality is about the same as the iphone, but with MANGO on its way, that will be fixed.
Don't worry, generally sales rep don't know what they are talking about, they just know the basic/general stuffs.
If I'm the sales officer,I would not reckon this device to any customer,until 2nd gen of devices or mango are released.

Not around here sadly. From the few stores around my place, if you don't have an Iphone, that makes you an idiot to them.
To be fair even after all the debacle i've been through with my Omnia 7 I would still reccomend WP7. The OS is just fantastic.
Samsung phones however... I will not reccomend!

Agree perfectly!!!!!! OS brilliant! Samsung has let me downnnnn hardware problems to often!
I love my sammy Focus. When I went to the ATT store to get my wife the same phone, the salesman said good things about the phone, asked me about my experience. I didn't get any anti-wp7 vibe from my att store, but ymmv. By the time I decide to make a purchase, I find that I generally know a lot more about the items than the saleperson. Not always, not generally so.

In Portugal when I went to buy my Omnia 7in January the salesguy had a Mozart and he loved it, almost forced me into WP7.. LOL
No regrets about the OS nor about Samsung... My Omnia is running 7392 always officially updated and no problems so far...
Yeah, I don't know why ppl complain about Samsung. I think they're a great hardware company and I'm very happy with my Omnia 7. Before I had a Samsung Wave with bada, and it was nice too !! No problems at all !!

Well, if he is a cell phone salesman he is either very young probably not very knowledgeable or if older probably made a lot of mistakes in life to end up at that point.... In either event I wouldn't worry about it. Just enjoy your phone and rock on.

Well, apparently while I was at work today some kids decided to break into my pool and were chased off by the lady who comes to clean once a week. I got home and under one of my law chairs are two phones, ones an iPhone 3gs and I couldn't care less but the other is an hd7s, this was the one US released wp7 device that will take a sim card that I didn't have and honestly what are they going to do? I trespassed and was drinking in your pool, can I have my phone back? I'm interested but for now, ill test it out... Hopefully the battery life isn't as horrid as the normal hd7
They can blacklist those phones (using IMEI numbers) and make them useless as phones if that's what are asking.
Don't be as bad as they were and rise above it... call and tell them they can have their phones back if they clean your pool the rest of the month

I don't know how it works in the US but here in the UK if you find lost property and report it to the police and the owner doesn't collect it after a certain period of time it becomes yours.
So, I'd drop it off - explain the situation. Do you think any kid is going to want to admit to trespassing?

You could see if they have someone saved as "Mom" or "Dad" on their phones (in case it isn't locked or not pin-protected) and call them and tell them about what they did.
Otherwise you could just wait and pretend you hadn't found the phones. They probably aren't gonna sue you and well if they call police you could pretend you had just found the phone earlier that day. It's not your responsibility to search your ground for stuff other people might have lost their while breaking in.

The circumstances don't really give you the right to destroy them or anything, that'd be no different than what they did. I'd go with the call the parents option if its possible, otherwise charge them a fee to not get the police involved.

It's not stealing if they were left on your property. Now it's still not moral to just keep them IMO. I'd say, do your best to try to return the phones. If the kids come back looking for them, return them or ask for the parents to come get the phones. I highly doubt the kids will tell their parents the truth about how they lost their phones, btw. If you can't return the phones in a reasonable amount of effort, than at least you tried to do the right thing.

Not trying to give it back, it is stealing, IMO. Even if you dont move a finger to try it, someone should call, just answer and say that the owner lost the phone. That isn't hard.
But, yes, I agree with the one that said that he should make them clean the pool for one mounth hahahahah
You can't live by that mindset. I mean, this isn't a life forum, so I don't want to get into this, but to say it is stealing to keep something that is on YOUR property, which appeared there without you personally inviting any guests over is ridiculous. It would be different if he invited friends over, and somebody left it... But that wasn't the case, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I wouldn't make an effort to return it, they didn't make an effort to respect his property.

You're sick of waiting. Your Vision is starting to suck. Get the best phone right now, rather than waiting. Waiting is generally silly when it comes to tech. Sorry to not be talking you out of the S3, but it's going to blow your G2/Vision away, even without the QWERTY..
I'm thinking of doing the same, because it seems that we won't get a decent, customizable phone with a hardware keyboard in the foreseeable future..
For what it's worth, if Google goes with Samsung the next Nexus will prob be a slightly tweaked GSIII.
Don't keep looking toward the horizon, find a phone you like now (or the near future) and get it. Something better is ALWAYS coming.
I agree with Nospin pretty much. Keep your G2 for now. There aren't many phones right now that are very much comparable IMO. I've got ICS running on mine and its lightening fast. Every time I go to check out the new phones I can't help but think mine is slightly better of just as good. So why spend the money on something new when you don't need it? Just keep flashing away until you find something that fits you, but again IMO, be like me and go with Adromadus Audacity...its a great ROM.

well I was talking about the looking toward the horizon part. Better to just stick with the G2 for now as there are all of these "better phones" out now. Wait it out until something REALLY good catches your eye, for now the G2 does what all of the new phones do if not more.
