Simple one here guys, have any of you had a case of the green charge light staying on when you disconnect the power cord, or a case of the amber light not coming on when you connect it? I've had one of each and the makeshift solution I've found, is to reconnect/disconnect the cable.
hi,
found NotifierPro caused similar problems.

Search has stopped working completely for me!
I use phonealarm to perform profile changes on my uni
One is when I put in to car holder/charger it rotates the screen for tt6 turns of wifi turns on Bluetooth ect
But my device will not light the screen up when external power is detected unless it can see Active sync I have tried all combinations of settings with no success

turn back light to on
hello
has no body any thoughts on this
when u say the device won't light up when you plug in your in-car charger means you screen lights up only for a few minutes and off or when immediately you plug-in the charger, the screen light off..??
and your intention is to light up the screen all the way when you're using it in your car...?
back light is off
hello
if the phone is in standby ,and back light off and i plug in the mains charger the back light comes on , if i plug in the usb sync cable the light comes on if i plug in home made charger ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285768&page=2 post 20 ) the light comes on
but if i plug in any 12volt car charger ( and i have tryed lots from 99p one from the local phone shop to brodit moulded one they will not light the screen
all supply 5v +-.1
i just want it power up the screen when the car is started
so i did wonder if its to do with the extra pin in the mini usb cable maybe its earthed
thankx

There was a discussion about this a long time ago. NOT ALL CAR CHARGERS GIVE OUT THE NECESSARY OUTPUT capable of powering and charging the Universal at the same time. That was the conlusion drawn at the end of the thread. That is also the reason why your Universal does not have the backlight ON even though it is plugged in the car charger. You can modify the lenght of time the backlight is ON if you prefer through the registry, but I doubt that it will charge the Universal to FULL capacity. Just search at the Universal Accessories section about car chargers for research. I think that is where I read it some time ago.
since the first post i now have a o2 orbit and its the same on this phone !!!
My Desire has already connected to the AC but it had done nothing after an overnight charged. Any solution for this? The LED is on when it connected to the AC.
Same here since a few days
anyone with a solution?
If it is refusing to charge, maybe a dead battery or something like that? If so talk to HTC about it. Could be something else but very much unlikely.
Usb and car charger seem to work fortunately. Probably a broken ac adaptor . Strange because the orange charging led is lit while plugged in however it's not charging. Whrn I plugged in an old cigarette to usb charger in my car which resulted in amessage from the phonr cmplaining that there is not enough current. Not the case with the ac adaptor. Charging led is on but using battery instead of charging
Hi,
I've dropped my phone while charging and after that I could not charge it. What happened was that the two hooks on the mini-USB port were ripped off and the contact was imperfect. I replaced the USB-miniUSB cable and it worked, I've had no problems since. I hope that your problem is as easy as this.
Pretty much what I'm getting, I plug my charger in and the notification LED just blinks once then turns off
Doesn't even start charging, do I need a new charger/data cable?
EDIT: It was my charging cable, now using an AC Adapter to charge my phone x)
Sounds like my charger.. Mine wont charge unless the cable is actually straight.. >.< And proper level, not curved.
Before you do anything else, try use another charger, ie a BlackBerry charger to see if its not your battery/port's broken.
Hi Everyone,
My HTC Desire HD is no longer charging. Whenever I plug a micro USB cable into the phone, and attempt to charger either from the dedicated charger, or from a computer my phone's orange LED simply blinks (regularly it will stay on - solid - whilst charging). The micro USB port on the phone looks a little warn, however I figure that there would be no LED activity at all if the port was broken.
If anybody has an suggestions here; whether they be regarding the nature of the issue and / or how to fix the issue they will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Davo

Hi, does the orange led blink all the time, when plugged in, or does it turn off after a few seconds? Either you battery is completely dead, and you have to let it charge(the orange led should stop blinking eventually), or you USB is broken. I had a similar problem - every time the led was blinking for a few seconds, then it stopped; and my computer didnt recognize to phone when plugged in, and it was a broken usb, I got it repaired.
Hi Fluorescent222,
Thanks for your feedback. I managed to get the phone charged by using a WD My Passport micro USB cable, for some reason these cables are just a fraction larger than standard micro USB cables. After about 15 minutes the LED went from flashing Orange to Orange, and then eventually to Green.
The micro USB port on the phone is definitely damaged, as whilst it now charges I cannot connect to PC (for data transfer, etc).
It sounds like you had the same issue with your phone. If so where did you get it fixed, and what was the cost?
Kind Regards,
Davo

I got it fixed at authorized HTC center, because I still have warranty on that phone. Even though the bootloader was unlocked, they repaired it for free.

Hello, for about 4 months I'm charging the phone with and magnetic Usb cable, today I've bought another one for my other phone and I tested the cable on the Z1 compact and the screen got blank the phone won't power on when pressed the button, I tought I ve bricked the phone, or the battery. Anyway I've pressed volume up and power for about 5-10 seconds and the phone turned on. It seems it works with no problems it charges, BUT the charging led doesnt work anymore. If I recieve a notification it works, all the colors (tested whatsapp, sms, calls), only when I plugged it to charge the led is off.
L. E : I've measured the pins and the new bought cable has the positive switched with the negative. ?
Any suggestions?

Don't use cheap crap.
It started working again . It was my mistake that I didn't checked the polarity of the cable. I will reverse the polarity of the cable.
