Hello, for about 4 months I'm charging the phone with and magnetic Usb cable, today I've bought another one for my other phone and I tested the cable on the Z1 compact and the screen got blank the phone won't power on when pressed the button, I tought I ve bricked the phone, or the battery. Anyway I've pressed volume up and power for about 5-10 seconds and the phone turned on. It seems it works with no problems it charges, BUT the charging led doesnt work anymore. If I recieve a notification it works, all the colors (tested whatsapp, sms, calls), only when I plugged it to charge the led is off.
L. E : I've measured the pins and the new bought cable has the positive switched with the negative. ?
Any suggestions?

Don't use cheap crap.
It started working again . It was my mistake that I didn't checked the polarity of the cable. I will reverse the polarity of the cable.

Hello and thanks in advance
I have looked but cant fine, forum seem so slow over the last few days or is it me?
Search has stopped working completely for me!
I use phonealarm to perform profile changes on my uni
One is when I put in to car holder/charger it rotates the screen for tt6 turns of wifi turns on Bluetooth ect
But my device will not light the screen up when external power is detected unless it can see Active sync I have tried all combinations of settings with no success
So I thought I could use P/A to run a file or program to turn on the back light I just need to know what file. Any ideas appreciated
Thanks again
John
turn back light to on
hello
has no body any thoughts on this
when u say the device won't light up when you plug in your in-car charger means you screen lights up only for a few minutes and off or when immediately you plug-in the charger, the screen light off..??
and your intention is to light up the screen all the way when you're using it in your car...?
back light is off
hello
if the phone is in standby ,and back light off and i plug in the mains charger the back light comes on , if i plug in the usb sync cable the light comes on if i plug in home made charger ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285768&page=2 post 20 ) the light comes on
but if i plug in any 12volt car charger ( and i have tryed lots from 99p one from the local phone shop to brodit moulded one they will not light the screen
all supply 5v +-.1
i just want it power up the screen when the car is started
so i did wonder if its to do with the extra pin in the mini usb cable maybe its earthed
thankx

There was a discussion about this a long time ago. NOT ALL CAR CHARGERS GIVE OUT THE NECESSARY OUTPUT capable of powering and charging the Universal at the same time. That was the conlusion drawn at the end of the thread. That is also the reason why your Universal does not have the backlight ON even though it is plugged in the car charger. You can modify the lenght of time the backlight is ON if you prefer through the registry, but I doubt that it will charge the Universal to FULL capacity. Just search at the Universal Accessories section about car chargers for research. I think that is where I read it some time ago.
since the first post i now have a o2 orbit and its the same on this phone !!!
Hi Everyone,
This happens every now and then - wondering if anyone is seeing the same thing.
The scenario is this:
My phone will be on my desk, charging. Notification light is blinking showing it is charging.
Phone suddenly wakes up, showing the lockscreen. Charging stops, as if the power usb isn't connected.
I have to then plug/unplug the power to get it to start charging again.
This is happening with a 1 amp charger I always used to charge my Note 1 - it's the one I use at work.

You have to use the charger provided with the note 2.

I don't see why this would be true. I was wondering if you need a minimum amperage to charge the phone.
But most of the time, it charges up just fine, outside of the occasional interrupt.
It also charges up in my car charger.

Good luck.

same happens with my s3. actually started when it got the official JB update.
thing is; I always use its original charger...
fullwipe didn't help.
It seems the beast Is lowering the amount lt pulls to the available ampera ge and one step under that. This could explain the situation I guess.

There have been numerous cases reported here where the usb cable was loose in the socket due to the way the bezel protrudes, preventing full seating of the plug in the socket. Try jiggling the cable while charging and see if it interrupts.
If so, you may have to shave off some plastic from the usb plug to allow it to completely seat.

Wow..same thing happen to me. I thought im the only one with this problem. Im using my old htc charger 1A + original note 2 cable charger. So what did i do, i try to change the cable with others htc brand micro usb cable which i buy later. Problem solve!!
Not sure what is the real problem..is it the 1A current not enough for battery 3100mA charging, or the original cable charger which suppose for 2A flow is not suitable for 1A flow??

after switching to 2A chargers, this problem has never reoccurrred.

Hello everyone. My two weeks old GNEX'USB today has stopped working. If I plug in the AC recharger nothing happens. If i plug it to my pc windows says unrecognized device. I tried swapping batteries with a collegue of mine, and my battery on his phone recharges just fine. If I plug it to the AC while turned OFF, the white battery recharging icon / animation shows up...
What can I do?
Thanks,
TD

did you try your friend battary on yours phone !? maybe the charging port is broken on your phone
~~wrong answer.....
Have you reset your battery state?
First try different usb cables, and then try cleaning out the usbport, canned air or a toothbrush will work great. also if you ahve a magnifying lens look inside and see if any of your pins are out of alignment.
my phone stopped charging after 23% cant do any thing.....help me plz.

try vol up+power till you got 3 vibrations then turn on again, or try power button while you plug charge...
more information...?
I had this problem too. Powering off device with small button near to SIM card worked for me. You will need sth small, that would fit into tiny hole, some kind of neddle, wire.

I think that used to reset the phone
Hello, I have the same problem. My phone has stopped charging. No charge even in the off state. When you connect the USB cable being off or on the computer has failed USB devices. I've already trying with other cables and other chargers. I do not think it's a problem because the connector is in good condition.
Hi everyone,
Something really strange happened to me last week (or at least I started noticing it last week)
First, when my HTC10 was turned on, it didn't recognize the charger at all, I tried different chargers and cables and the result was the same. If I turned off the phone it worked perfectly. I wiped the cache and tried again with the same result. I booted in safe mode and got the same result.
I hard reset my phone and loaded all my apps again and now the USB C just works when I plug it in a certain way when turned on(one of the two possible ways, impossible for me to know which of them). When turned off it works perfectly.
Does anyone has experienced this? I think maybe it's related with one app, since when turned off it works with no problem.
UPDATE:
I just hard reset my phone again and loaded NO apps but still the same behavior: when turned off USB C can charge the phone no matter which way I plug it, but when turned on it doesn't.

Power phone up with it plugged in. Does it charge then? I get that problem often. I've narrowed my problem down to when I start my car with phone connected on charge (using car charger). Won't charge after that till I restart phone. I'm assuming it gets over or under voltage and safety circuit kicks in until restart. In your case it might be a charger or cable problem (or combination of both).

I think the problem was the cable I was using, after a while it started doing some crazy stuff like saying that I was not using a powerful enough charger. After I changed it everything is working like a charm
I'm experiencing similar problems, but this happened to me after my phone totally discharged, i repost my experience:
Hi guys! i'm occuring in a big problem, i was wondering if anyone of you had this experience with this or others phones, two days ago my htc 10 was totally without battery and died, so i put it on charge, but nothing happens, no led on, if i try to power on, no signs of life, unable to make it boot, even after hours of charge, i noticed that the phone anche the charger were cold, instead of hot like it should.... but after hours, even without led indicator on, i trying to recover it, with surprise, it was hot, i tryed to power on, no signs, i tryed combination of power button and volume buttons and it booted into dowload mode, and after a millisecond it re-died, and booted normally with 65% battery. BTW from that point the phone is unable to charge if i plug the cable into it, nothing happens, but if i put the cable, when is off, it charges even after boot, i tryed to recalibrate battery but nothing happens....
today, one day later, it seems the things are getting better, i'am able to charge it without having to put the phone off, but i always got the message that the charge is slow.
Clean the connector on the phone, make sure it's nice and shiny.
Give the cables a buff up, reboot your phone.
Allow it to boot, connect the official HTC charger in the wall.
Connect the official htc USB c cable into the charger and unlock your phone.
Connect the cable to your phone.
If that doesn't work, try a different wall socket.
Are you on stock? Have you altered any voltages? Any quick charge mods?

If you can reverse the modifications you've done to it I'd be tempted to say take it back to htc and get it sorted. Shouldn't be like that. Personally that's what I'd do.
