Just got my HTC One X and have gone through the initial set-up process... I assumed it would auto-restore all the apps I've ever downloaded from the Android/Play store (as it did on my Transformer Prime) but that doesn't seem to have happened with the One X?
Anyone got any ideas?
It did it for me, but only after I first loaded up the Play store and accepted the user agreement.
that's really weird, anyone got any ideas how i can get mine to trigger? i've got over 100 apps and it'll be a nightmare downloading them individually...
I could never figure it out. Some ROMs I would put on my sensation would auto restore apps, some wouldn't. I couldn't figure what affected it. Funnily enough, on my sensation I didn't want the apps to auto download, as I had titanium backup pro.

I assumed it was because of HTC's Sense custom setup wizard but if Solaris81 didn't have any problems then I guess not... wouldn't be because my phone's carrier-locked would it?
It could be as mine is unlocked.

Have you at least tried a factory reset and reinstalling your phone?
mine downloaded about 15 apps - i prob have about 50 - but every custom or even stock rom i have put on either my desire, desire HD, sensation has always been hit and miss on how many it actually downloads. --- Titanium backup all the way

I tried that and it just downloaded the apps I had before factory resetting
@nickhuk they were probably just updates?
Anyone else had this issue/anyone else's previous apps restored successfully, if so at which point during setup did this happen?
Just FYI, I'm coming from an Xperia Play and I also own a Transformer Prime, this is my first HTC device
Is there not any way to force the re-downloading of all previously purchased/downloaded apps as opposed to trying this really fiddly way?
Camera
Why is it that even after factory resetting and re-installing CM10 on my SK17i the camera still doesn't work? I thought CM10 was finished? And for some reason it works on my girlfriends phone (exactly the same phone).
Don't want to sound ungrateful ofcourse, these ROMs are fantastic .

Hmm how long has it been since setting it all up. It might just be all of the google stuff syncing... I had the same thing happen to me! Leave it for 20 minutes or something and see if it works any better
same issue here.. I HATE IT
I doubt it is because of root or rom. I had this issue as wel up until yesterday. It was suddenly fixed. I think because I usually install apps using Astro (or any file explorer), because of hard resetting etc. I thought maybe if i install an app directly from the market, it would fix it. I installed 'msn talk', did a reboot and it's fast now.. I don't know if this was what made it work, but it's working great now.
edit: before that I tried to uninstall a market update and reinstall again. But it was still slow after uninstall, reinstall and cleared caches.
I am on a non rooted device btw.
I`ve rooted 4 devices today and all same to have this issue .. ?
Just out of interest were any of you also missing the "top paid" tab as well. It was missing from my market after rooting as well as the slowdown, then it just appeared about a half hour in. Also did any of you have a similarly slow market when you first got the device. I am on T-mobile and for the first couple of days it was lagging in much the same way as it is now. Maybe it is to do with something new devices do, like the Google sync suggested.
I found that it is best to install all apps manually. Backup programs somehow slow everything down for me! Plus I dont know if the updates are pushed to you because the g market doesnt think you have installed them
My market is so slow but I didnt rooted my device

is that new issue or something to do with android market??? recent update or something? or it is just the desire? Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
It's the same with mine (not rooted) since about 4 days. Have to keep rebooting even to try and install/uninstall anything.

Hmm..
No problems here at all.
Fast market, top paid apps showing.
Rooted with r3 linux cd method.
did not install a2sd.
so far no hiccups at all.
I'm getting this. Rooted, Apps2SD.
Been on a few different ROM's, now back to the original rooted one.
Not all of my restored apps (using Titanium Backup) were showing when I went to Downloads. What I have just done is got Settings - Applications - Manager Apps and cleared the market cache and all the apps seems to have returned. Still very slow though... but maybe getting quicker. Is it a syncing thing?
Anyone that did have the slow down, is it getting quicker now?
I can confirm, clearing the market cache seems to fix this.

Hello,
Yes before i rooted the Market was a dogs arse, Very slow, then after a day or to, it was as fast as i would expect it to be, then i rooted my device, again it was slow for a few days, but is now back to normal.
I think it just needs time to sort its self out, like a alcholic the morning after!!.
The only thing i have used diffrently since i rooted was the cache cleaner app in the market.
I can confirm, clearing the market cache seems to fix this.

It's not instant, but I had to do it again yesterday. I cleared cache and installed about 30 apps. By that time the market was back up to speed.
what if you have no cache to clear and the problem still persists
try logging into google talk, that works for me
Long story short, she loved the DINC 2, we bought her one (I have a DINC) and I rooted and all that crap to ditch the bloatware. That being said the other day she was in the menus and turning things off and I think she may have jacked with the Google framework. I can't sync her contacts, add a Google account, or access the market. I tried reflashing the ROM but without a wipe it looks hopeless. Is there an APK or something I can install in order to restore the functionality?
Thanks in advance.

Flash Google apps "gapps"
sent...ah whatever its on there now..
That is actually a bug with the stock firmware. Happened to me several times. Go into manage applications and see that many things are greyed out. You need to factory reset. This is caused be deleted apps from the manage applications menu. Just happens randomly when doing that.

I noticed this happened on my friend's rhyme. If they factory reset will the issue still occur?

More than likely... I had to do a factory reset three different times on my Inc2 when it kept losing google related apps, rooting it solved those issues though
Flash a different ROM other than stock. Something's wrong with it. I lost my alarm.

Hi all,
I got my Nexus Prime today. I'm quite impressed, but it has a problem that's driving me mad.
When I first turned on my handset and entered my Google username it tried to download all the old apps from my previous Android handsets - I didn't ask it to nor did I want it to! Anyway, this failed part way through and none of the apps actually installed.
Since owning this device a few hours ago I cannot install anything through the Android market at all. I keep getting told that the download failed due to an error, but nothing further.
I've tried rebooting the handset but nothing appears to be able to be downloaded.
I can download from other sources, for example I downloaded the Swype installer and that installed fine, from the Swype website (Swype states it's not compatible with this handset!)
I'm not sure if this is a general bug or if there's something wrong with my individual handset but it would be interesting to see if anyone else has this problem?
Hi I had this problem too, unfortunately clearing cache and data from Market doesn't do anything (at least for me), I had to do a factory reset, worked for me and my friend who also had the same problem.
Damn, after an evening of customising my handset I was hoping not to have to do that.
So it appears we've discovered an issue with this handset.
Yep, that fixed it.
Annoying though..............

The way to avoid that is by skipping the initial guide and then att your account in settings instead. I agree that they should just ask you instead but the above way has worked ever since that feature was intruduced in 2.2.
Sorry for the bump but I'm having the exact same issue.
Just rooted the phone and after all apps were restored I tried downloading apps and keep getting that error.
I already did a factory reset several times and nothing. Just tried skipping the setup and adding my google accounts later but I'm still getting the same error :X
Anyone has any idea how to fix this problem? Do I have to return my phone?
It's been driving me crazy..

I seem to have managed to fix this now. I popped my sim into my old android phone, I noticed that the apn settings being used on old phone are different to those GN has setup by default for my network provider. I just copied those through to the new phone and market works again . Hope this helps someone.
Having the same issue also. I'm on Telus in Canada and the APN settings are the same on my old phone. I have done a factory reset and am still having this issue. Please help!
Are you guys rooted? If you are it could be the ROM your using?

Or just let it restore, and wait. It can take hours, let it do its thing. By tomorrow will be working again.

You are right. It's the weirdest problem I've seen but somehow it just fixed itself.. Apps install fine now (too bad I didn't know that before doing a million factory resets and deleting my settings)
Figured it out. I had to clear the proxy address in my apn settings
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
seems my Service Provider's settings where blocking downloads esp the Proxy... hmmmm
I've had this problem since yesterday, Market wont download over wifi or data network, messages 'Error while processing payment' or '... could not be downloaded due to error'
I'm running a stock GSM nexus and have tried clearing the market data and rebooting but no luck, I'd rather not have to do a factory reset if I can avoid it.
Any ideas anyone?
Bought this for my wife for christmas last year and recently shes been moaning about it for a bit becoming really slow and also that the facebook friendstream app keeps hanging. I'm guessing the friendstream thing is a bug? Its a sim free handset and totally stock. The only way to get it to work is to remove the FB account and re enter details, it'll then work for a few days and then just stop updating and the only way is to remove it again....
Any ideas on that part? Also there is only about 3 or 4 apps and its got 20mb free and the handset keeps complaing about low space, so I'm guessing the only way around that is to root and unlock the handset to install a custom rom that allows data2sd etc?
Not that fussed about the rom but she likes sense widgets so a sense rom is preferable but something that doesnt feel like its going to grind to a halt every minute
Thats providing I can of course unlock the bootloader, something ive not yet tried.
1. Download SOS Backup, backup everything.
2. Factory Reset.
(That will fix the low memory problem, because it will clear all the unnecessary data that apps leave behind after deletion. As well as deleting everything in the internal memory. Don't worry about your music/photos/videos though, they're safe unless you tell it to clear the SD card as well. Which would be a stupid move on your part! )
I can only help with the slowness problem if her phone is rooted. So, is it?
thanks, no its not rooted its 100% stock

Well that may be fixed with a factory reset too.. But in case it isn't, just remove the friend stream and Facebook widget etc.. They're notorious for slow performance. Sorry i can't be of better help than that.. :\
if you root your phone you can install a custom ROM and you can get rid of all these problems but you'll lose your warranty so i think its your choice.
Try this

What i have done so far is: cleared cache, uninstalled updates and then let it update on its own and then trying to update/resume downloads, factory reset. It is happening on my One and LG G pad. Anybody run across a fix or have any tips other than what I've already tried? I contacted Google and like an idiot when he asked about me being rooted i said yes. He blamed my problems on being rooted. I dont believe that is the problem since i went all the way back to stock with the same problems. Beyond frustrated.

The only one i havent tried is creating a new account. That kinda defeats the purpose and then I'll lose all my paid apps. Thanks though.

Yeah that ones kind of pointless. I think what some people say is create a new account just to update all your apps and then switch back. Maybe uninstall paid apps prior as well. And then re install once you update core apps.
To me it sounds like a google problem with your account. Does this happen when downloading new apps, when updating an already installed app, or both? Is it just paid apps or free apps too? Try to create a new google account just to see if you can successfully download a new app, or update your current apps. If it works with the new account, then the problem is google and not your phone.
Well, your not gonna believe what fixed it....I changed my password. Maybe something or someone got a hold of my password somehow and blocked the play store..thanks for all the suggestions!

Well..turns out that must have been temporary. After changing it, worked for a little while then, I had to change my password after purchasing apps twice, error out after each purchase...Google tech help is worthless.
