[Q] GPU rendering for the UI? - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Is it possible to force GPU UI rendering in some way? I've noticed the A100 seems to lag a bit, and it sometimes makes navigating a pain the ass when I miss a swipe or a touch input.

You can also just copy over the build.prop from the development section to achieve this.

does this affect in any way? performance, battery life?

Scrolling and transitions should be smoother. It shouldn't affect battery life (at least noticeable). Also, you could just use crossix's build.prop since it has many more tweaks.

Isn't that for honeycomb though?

Yes, that build.prop is for HC. The one for ICS is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24364134&postcount=11 (It had more downloads, but I made a small modification to it and uploaded a new one).

browser.apk from Nexus S????

Hi guys!
Is it possible to use the browser from gingerbread/nexus s on our galaxy s phones? I remember we used the one from galaxy tab with great success
In videos the Nexus S browser looks far superior
If anybody has or know where i can get the "browser.apk" from the Nexus S I would be happy to test it
Provide and I will serve!
You can have it, but it's not deodexed.

Is it possible to deodex it? I'm running Docs rom right now
If its possible to get it it running, it would be a huge + for the browsing experience.
But then again, there could be some major compatibility issues sinces its from gingerbread.. or maybe not!

The nexus s browser isn't gpu accelerated, the jpx one is just so you know, its much faster.
JPX/JPU browser
Does anyone finds the browser experience just awfull in both firmwares?
The best browser I have tested was probably the one that came with the 1st or 2nd froyo firmware (dont remember)
It was fast, smooth just perfect, this one does strange things like on zooming in or out the page disapears and is replaced with squares and scroling the page gets distorced...
Any ideias how to solve this or is it just me?

Yeah, its bug with 3D acceleration.
Maybe a little bit offtopic.
Is scrolling in this page, http://powerampapp.com/features/ , completely smooth? On my device (JPX Doc) I get enormous lags. The browser hangs at the images.
Am I the only one?

Also, I can send messages to contacts. I just tested.

Boy is my face red. Battery % mod is the one mod I always do and I'm so use to it I forgot I even used it.
Only thing I seem to notice is that when I unlock it very quickly gets to my homescreen. Not that it was laggy before, but it may have been a bit slower.
Wow you guys are seeing performance improvements from 4.1 to 4.1.1. I went straight from 4.0.4 and the difference is incredible. And ICS wasn't that slow to begin with!

Eliminate Lag-delay(and butter smooth settings)[more tweaks]

Hello people,i found some interesting build prop tweaks that will make ics ui less laggy....ecpecially have you ever noticed the lag of settings app?it kills me when i open settings menu
anyway more action less words
#requires:
-Hands,fingers,brain
-Xperia s ,acro s and ion
-root
-root explorer or anything similar explorer that can edit system files
#step 1
open root explorer,go to /system ,mount it r/w and then longpress on build.prop and press *open in text editor*
#step 2
add those lines at the end of the file-text(please backup first):
persist.sys.ui.hw=1
ro.vold.umsdirtyratio=20
ro.wmt.blcr.enable=0
added tweaks(thanks should go on mrsatan[3rd tweak and 4th tweak number] and and on one random guy at google):
ro.max.fling_velocity=12000
ro.min.fling_velocity=8000
view.scroll_friction=10
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=280
ro.min_pointer_dur=8
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=0
ring.delay=0
press menu button and then press save and exit
mount r/o
#step 3
reboot your phone (if someone asks me what is reboot i will shoot his head)
#step 4
post a comment and tell if it is working or not and thank me if you consider that i helped you
#step 5

thanks for the input!
Nothing new, these were shared long ago.
Reply to all... Yes u can apply it and on sl......
I know those tweaks are not new but ive collected those that made my device faster and without lags in one place so it will be easy for users to find
So are those tweaks working?
Works very well here in my XS with stock.45 rom! Even the browser get smoother.
Good job!
No change felt.
Can you throw some light on what it does exactly.

the new tweaks made scrolling faster (the first 5)
and the other 2 made the call delay minimum....
the scrolling is especially faster in settings where i felt much lag..

Normally.. I did the same of the post, with solid explorer i opened the build.prop and paste these lines at the end and saved. Then I rebooted and now the ui is very smoother. And there's other fix that I loved, the mod eliminated boring delay to keypad to calls.
Make sure to save the file before reboot
Good luck

You know guys how to remove the lag in the settings and some other apps as well? Go to settings, scroll through the bottom, choose "Developer options", and check "Force GPU Rendering". I know it's not a new thing, but not everybody knows this

It shouldn't matter. The individual app should be able to be changed without needing to change overall density.
