hi
i had spare parts plus installed on my hd2 with a cooked android rom: does it still make sense on a rooted gnex?
thanks
Yes, I use it and set the transitions to fast.

You can do that in developer options already though

I used to do the same on GB. But with ICS you can go to Settings - Developer Options and set the Transition and Window Animation speeds to 0.5x

Is it possible to force GPU UI rendering in some way? I've noticed the A100 seems to lag a bit, and it sometimes makes navigating a pain the ass when I miss a swipe or a touch input.

You can also just copy over the build.prop from the development section to achieve this.

does this affect in any way? performance, battery life?

Scrolling and transitions should be smoother. It shouldn't affect battery life (at least noticeable). Also, you could just use crossix's build.prop since it has many more tweaks.
Isn't that for honeycomb though?

Yes, that build.prop is for HC. The one for ICS is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24364134&postcount=11 (It had more downloads, but I made a small modification to it and uploaded a new one).
Is it just me or the animation a lot quicker and more odd looking?
Sent from my Nexus Prime
It's definitely faster
Yep noticed that too. Takes about a half second to trigger the crt animation after you pressed power button and the animation itself is much quicker
Too fast to enjoy?

and u cant turn it off via dev options
paste this line at the end of your build.prop "debug.sf.electron_frames=1" to disable crt animation
the default value is 24

I just want it back to how it used to be! Its not enjoyable now! It just looks awkward...
Sent from my Nexus Prime
Maybe this is to fix how it looks on LCDs.. It always looked a bit awkward on my Xperia Play, you could see the screen turn off after the animation, made it look unnatural.

Most likely, being that the latest nexus is no longer amoled
I can confirm this on my i9250. It did this same thing on my G2x on all the CM-based custom ROMs I used as well.
Its always been fast, im still on 4.1.2 and the screen of animation is very fast, how faster can it get?

On 4.2, it has gone from fast to "too fast to enjoy".
It actually seems really choppy/delayed for me.

Its delayed a little, but the animation is faster. xd
Main point, how do we totally remove this annoying thing now without Dev options

What do you mean w/o dev options?
About Phone, fast tap 7 times on the Build number --> you are developer now!
Would it be possible to (or does some rom already have it that I don't know about) make it so that lockscreen widgets in 4.2 can be fully expanded by default and then unlocked just by swiping the unlock up? So basically the widget could be shrunk back and the phone unlocked all in one motion?
This would basically unlock in a similar way to HTC Sense. I'm just not a huge fan of having to first shrink the widget and then unlock as it feels like a totally unnecessary step.
I think Xylon has quick press and hold to unlock, but I found Xylon to be pretty unstable on my VZW nexus. Could that functionality be ported to any rom? If it matters I'm running Liquid Smooth Beta.
Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
Team sourcery rom has auto maximize widgets and long press lock key to unlock phone. Works very well for what you are looking for

right, I've done that but it still takes two swipes to unlock. One up and one to the right. Not a huge deal but I'd like a quicker unlock option.

I don't think that option is available in CM10. I think it's just like that by default.
Running DeviantXone and the ROM just got PA settings implemented into it. I was just wondering how I can make my gallery look like "3D'ish" and Youtube as well. I've seen pics of that but I have NO idea what-so-ever how to do it myself lol. Thanks to anyone that can help.
Anyone?!

It shouldn't matter. The individual app should be able to be changed without needing to change overall density.

Go to the pa settings and select apps, then scroll down to the one you want and select the density there.

Yup, that's hat I've been doing and the max is 320 for dpi.
There is no transition from Always On Display to Lockscreen like I've seen on other Samsung phones.
any ideas how to fix it?

I think this type of transition it's not a one ui spec. Just for custom roms and pure Android.
