It seems we are having mixed results with battery. 4.0.4 was supposed to fix the Android OS bug. Some are reporting excellent battery life while others extremely poor. Let's try and narrow this down as for me battery life is most important. Post your setup, screenshots, logs, whatever.
What have you done that showed improvement?
ROM cm9 alpha 2 clean install
Kernel fd02
Modem fd02
4g on
Wifi off
auto brightness off
Overclocked to 1.5 undervolted
Followed recommended battery saving options in faq
Android OS is still high but I saw improvements once I turned off auto brightness. The run before I got less than 5 hours total charge with less than hour screen time

4G ends about 4 blocks from my house, so I very, very rarely use it. Didn't use it at all today.
wifi on ...3g still on?
Using Cm9 alpha 2 fc 24 modem. Running very nice. However I noticed significant battery drain at work (no 3g signal) which happened with any rom I've used IF I don't turn on wifi. But this rom seems to keep searching for 3g signal (which kills battery) even if wifi is on. So now I have to turn on wifi and turn off 3g in order to prevent this (no big deal). Anyone else experience this?

Touch sounds: on
LED notification/low battery light: off
Sync: on
GPS: off
Wifi: on
4G: off
Edit: I can't see the pictures I posted so I'm going to write what I got.

Android OS: 12%

Although i am not on ICS, i did notice a difference in my battery life when i went from FC15 modem to FC18, 22 and 24. For me battery life went down a bit.
Running Stock Rooted EL29 ROM/Kernel. Im now on FD02 and about to test out FD05.
So far FC15 has been the best, FD02 is working well.
FC18/22 were the worst for me as far as battery life and data speeds.
For those of you running ICS and having battery issues try the FC15 modem for a few days and see what happens.
With wifi on I can get almost 5hrs screen on time
3.4 on 3g
But on unnamed 2.0.1

This could be a problem with battery calibration.
Sometimes this phone thinks that the minimal (0% battery) voltage is 3.7V, while in reality, it's closer to 3.5V.

This looks normal for epic touch on wifi:
battery percentage ~= 100 - (screen on in minutes/4) - (phone on in hours - screen on in hours)
Guys I have calibrated two different batteries, I still drain 1% a minute even on gingerbread, I think I need a new phone, I have insurance but I don't know if they will give be a new one..
---------- Post added at 06:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:57 AM ----------
I highly suspect this is the infamous Samsung charging port issue which has caused many other owners to experience intense battery drain. This was an almost overnight experience out of the blue, so I know it isn't battery calibration.I just need to convince Sprint.

If you want actual numbers for a decent battery usage, look at my own reports by searching for my posts.
I found the following:
wifi on, screen brightness auto or lowest
1% battery - 4 minutes screen on time
1% battery - 1 hour in standby.

Not true at all. I have in the past have ran @ 1.2GHz w/Some UV and have the same battery life as 1.0GHz w/No UV. And No Lagg either. Just gotta tweak here and there plus depends on kernel I never had issues with the old Samurais

The main reason I'm not using an ICS rom is that the battery life is significantly worse than stock GB. I've read that some people have gotten decent battery life on ICS after lots of tweaks, underclocking, and moded kernels. I haven't had the time to mess around with it so I can;t confirm it, other than to say that neither CM9 or AOKP give me anywhere near the battery life that GB gives me.

Have to agree, although I still prefer AOKP over any TW rom despite the worse battery life. While it is not great on ICS it is acceptable and I have extra OEM batteries along with 1800. I run the stock Alias kernel, don't UV or OC, conservative governor, no tweaks of any kind
My battery life on Cm9 is just fine imo.

The only thing you can affect and make better is when the phone is off.

Ok i will get rid of it. its worked for me in the past, but that was on the HTC hero, evo, evo shift. i never had this issue on SII.
About JuiceDefender... it really depends on how you use your phone. I love JD since I go long periods of time without using my phone. By using JD I don't have to bother with turning data and wifi on and off manually, and obviously you save a lot of battery when they're off. I also kind of like the night tint that comes with their brightness control.
Obviously, the usefulness of JD is completely dependent on how you use your phone, but I wouldn't just rule it out. I personally have never gotten the kinds of screen time people around here seem to get... I get tops 3 hrs with 10% left with or w/o JD, but I still get over 24 hours easy using JD so I'm happy.

Yep freegs3 and trinity kernel. But I was getting close to the same results from stock kernel.

Also not really understanding "kick in period" for battery life, it should be immediately after you flash a rom. These batteries and roms have no set in period or special charge and discharge cycle.
That was way back when nickel batteries where used.

rogue apps, bad service area are 2 big battery eaters. But it really depends on what you do on your phone. If you use your phone like super computer it'll suck, where as if you read a book on your phone with a black background battery with last forever with a crap ton of screen on time.
Or it could be a bad battery or charger or bad micro usb cable.

I've had TERRIBLE battery life ever since upgrading to 4.1.2 a couple weeks ago. I unplug at 7am, and by 3pm, it would be dead with minimal usage (max 30min. of screen on time) I've tried factory reset, and deleting all mp3 files to see if it's a bad mp3, but to no avail.
Attached is screenshots of battery usage and badass battery monitor.

Any suggestions?
BTW: Running stock ROM and kernels. I've only unlocked the bootloader to flash from yakjuux to yakju.
Install betterbattery stats. I've got a feeling wlan is causing a lot of wakelocks. What encryption algorithm does your wifi use?

I agree with this thread, having the same problem. Any answers? I have Wi-Fi turned off but are you talking about cell tower searching? Is there a way to control that? Possibly if the phone is constantly searching for LTE and 3G speeds at the same time?

Since 4.1.1 i can't reach 3 hours of screen usage before battery has expired. Can someone confirm that?

How do you hijack and thread?

Very funny. You said you have wifi off, op has wifi on. So, your issue is probably not related with the one op is having. So, dont hijack threads and open a new one.

I'm still talking about battery life after update so I'm guessing your just a idiot and have the reading comprehension of a 5th grader like most people.
Also I have noticed testing with my phone by forcing it on 3G only the battery life is much better so I'm pretty sure its the switching back and forth of the networks. That was for people who actually have a brain.

People who "actually have a brain" don't need to be told that 3G-only is better for battery life than 4G/3G.

Turning off Location Services seems to help.

Same here for me. I wiped everything, reflashed the stock 4.1.2 image and still have the battery drain, even with no accounts set up, location services deactivated, flight mode on and no extra apps installed. Drain is pretty consistently 5% / hour and my battery stats show no active states when the screen is off. I thought about it being related to a defective SIM card, but the same drain is observed with 2 different cards or even no sim card inserted. I have no clue what else to do...
I got my Gnex after JB was released. How was the battery life on ICS? How long could you have the screen on?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
When I didn't use my phone a lot, I went home with 70-80% battery after a workday (sync fully enabled, working WiFi all through the day). Screen time was ~3h.
So, is it worth going back to ICS? JB is superb, but i hate not being able to keep the screen on for a long time. I read a lot on my phone.

Depends on what screen time you're getting now. My major concern is standby drain which is so high I couldn't get a decent amount of screen time if I wanted to. Oh, and and I use the European GSM Nexus, btw.
