1) power off your phone
2) turn it on normally by pressing the power button
3) as the samsung boot logo appears, when the samsung logo starts to blink keep pressed the options button which is to the left of home screen till you feel a large vibration
4)after the vibration allow the phone to start...it will boot into the safe mode......worked for me on STOCK DDLC2

safe mode works
I can reproduce it here !
it works ! I accidentally was in it before some time.
works on LC1 as well.
"as the samsung boot logo appears, when the samsung logo starts to blink "
what you mean is, at the moment the first still logo changes into the animated boot graphics (after approx. 20 sec).
i.e. the word "YOUNG" is no longer visible
but no earlier, dudes !

Safe mode is for force close loops. In safe mode, the Android system only loads necessary applications. Third party apps like widgets are not loaded on boot up. You only need Safe Mode when your phone goes haywire and does a force close spree.

u mean it interrupts boot loops
I guess what ure saying is, when u feel unsafe due to terrorism , there is no point in bootin ya fone in safe mode

What's the use of this safe mode ?

Worked first time for me. I pressed the Menu button as soon as the 'Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360 Young' bootscreen disappeared and held it pressed until you feel the first small vibration. After that small vibrate I got the big vabration you mentioned. No apps at all can be loaded, even if you try to load them from the Play Store. Only apps installed to the system load...

[q] phone does not boot

Hi, ivwould like to ask about the problem regarding the phone, arc s or the lt18i model.
1. The phone was updated to the latest ics firmware probably the official and has a lot of problems like the phone keeps restarting or crash and not responding
2. A while ago the phone were fine until i turned it off for quite a while maybe about 30 minutes or so then the phone unable to boot up but there were slight vibration when i pressed the power button and the screen stays black.
The phone is a friend of mine so i only trying to help him fixing the problem.
Any solution would be great. Thanks in advance

i am not sure. The phone wont boot. I am having trouble downloading the flashtool because of its massive filesize around 100mb and my internet access currently is very limited. How do i know if the bootloader is locked?
Edit: i think the phone does boot up, there was the initial vibration when i pressed the power button and the secondary haptic vibration, a brief vibration. My laptop detected thw phone but no folder available. It seems like the phone is up but only the processor and memories without other hardware running especially the screen that shows nothing but pitch black

I managed to download the flashtool and sus but not the rom from xperiadev.wordpress.com because the uploaded.net server keep wasting my time by disconntcting me and had to download over and over again from the start. I didnt use the repair feature inside the sus because i want to prioritise the rom. One thing i want ask is on the picture below

Is it okay to have these attributes? I am assuming that the phone is unrooted or something that made the phone behave like this.
And one more thing, anyone know where can i download the oldest rom version besides xperiadev.wordpress.com that uses uploaded.net server?
Splitted file of 50-100mb for the rom?
Thanks in advance

Maybe it looks like a silly question,but is the phone charged enough? I've had this problem with my phone when i made an upgrade,and i've stayed with it turned off 3 days,just to see that it wasn't charged enough to boot.

I dont think the battery is the main problem here because the phone boots with the initial boot vibration. The main problem here is the screen stays black all the time. Only with some luck then the screen will show something. It does vibrate randomly earlier but screen stays black

For me,also was booting with the initial vibration,but then,it was shutting down again...Maybe it's a problem with the screen so he should go to a Sony service center to see what's the problem.

Yes, but this is a "software" power button, he didn't mean the hardware one...
Another great app...Thanks!!
This will save on the wear of the hardware power button greatly. Just think about how many times a day you use the power button to lock/unlock the screen, this will cut the use in half. My old HD7 didn't even "click" anymore when I pressed the power button and I forgot that it even did until I got my new replacement HD7.

2- It does not affect the battery.
first: sorry for reviving this old thread.
never thought I'd ever go back to Windows Phone 7 apps. My daughter dropped her WP7 device into water. Even after several cleaning and drying attempts the power button does not work anymore. All other buttons do work.
This app was a god send! thank you. Now she doesn't have to wait for the 30s screen time out
wonder if it's possible to create an app that does a combination of Vol down and Windows button to accomplish the same.
thanks again.

yeah thanks but I was probably not clear enough and I have this already on her phone.
what I meant is an app that changes the physical button behavior of Vol down and Windows button, when pressed together, to turn screen off. The screen off tile is OK for now. The problem is that once the screen is off the only way to turn the screen off is to open the keyboard (slide phone).
The other issue is that once the phone is off you can't turn it back on because the power button is dead. So you have to plug it into a usb port and it turns on.....
cheers

Try a factory reset.
Or try changing to some other rom.
Make sure its not from holding the power button, like in your pocket when you sit down or something like a case pressing the button.
This used to happen to me anyway, it's a feature!
Yeah, it happened to me few times. Power button sucks.
My oneX until today 2 error msg and my phone restart.. when this happen,my bottom button (back,home,recent apps) blinking and my phone restart..anyone can help. Me?
If you're on stock Rom and factory reset doesnt helps, it is a hardware issue. Send it to service center

Same, the home+back+recent app buttons start blinking but it most of the time doesn't go off, just in a deep sleep mode.
You should not keep the home button pressed, but press it a few times [3,4 times]
I believe this will be fixed in 1.3.3 , but I am not sure.
I have talked to HTC about my HOX restarting and they suggested that before a factory reset I should try using the phone in safe mode. It's been turned on in safe mode for quite some time now... and guess what?! No other resets so far...
In conclusion: it's a stinking play store app / app update / app bg service.
Will use it like so for a couple a days and get back with feedback, or until JB rolls out globally in a few days.

Hello again,
1st of all... to get into safe mode just hold the power button pressed until your phone restarts... after it powers on wait it passes the first image on the boot screen, once it reaches the animated HTC logo (the one with the sound) press and hold the volume down until the phone completely starts. In the bottom left corner you will see SAFE MODE.
In my case it was the Viber app that screwed my phone. After complete uninstall my HOX runs just fine... and a bit faster...
Even got better scores in benchmarks...

have you checked for 3rd part apps running? check activity on your hox, to me happened with a funny "free" game, it hold in memory and waste all resource till reboot due insufficient resources (with an error before)
i have to send my phone to repair, it keeps shutting down and when i turn it on sometimes i see a '!' on the battery indicator, and the battery stats graph looks like this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18387650/2012-10-03_21-46-06.png
it stopped doing this after a while, but today, after 1 or 2 months it started doing like that again. it started after i removed the tpu case to clean it, probably there something improperly connected, and when i apply i little pressure to clean it , it give some problem. it shutted down 4 or 5 times and now looks ok again... i just hope it won't take too long for repair.

[APP] Tabletizer Alpha 4 (2013.03.02)

! WARNING !
This is Alpha version meaning app is in active development! It may contains lots of bugs and may damage your device! Use on your own risk! Always backup before using!
I'm proud to present you Tabletizer - one-click solution (someday in the future, more clicks today) to turn your phablet Nexus 7 in to a real tablet. It should work on any AOSP 4.2 based ROMs and original ROMs from Google. Your ROM should be deodexed and you should have TWRP/CWM installed. Root is not required
Installation:
Have your N7 charged to at least 30% - the process eats a lot of battery;
Reboot to recovery;
BACKUP!
Reboot to OS;
Install APK;
Run Tabletizer and tap "Run Tabletizer" button (WARNING! Do not rotate device until process is finished!);
Wait until !FINISH! message is shown or any error message appear;
If you see error - send me a screenshot;
If everything is OK - reboot to recovery;
Install update.zip generated in /sdcard/data/tabletizer/temp;
Reboot;
...
PROFIT!
Uninstall:
Reboot to recovery;
Restore backup;
Reboot to OS.
WIP.

AW: [APP] Tabletizer Alpha 4 (2013.03.02)
Works without problems on cm 10.1 latest nightly.
Just thought I should mention. Running the apk in landscape mode with full battery charge (not plugged into wall) caused the screen to timeout and the text of the process didn't scroll down. So now I can't see when the !FINISH text pops up. Figured I'd give it at least 20 minutes to be on the safe side.
How long does tabletizer usually take to finish the process?
Thanks for your work!
You are the man aux can't believe you got it working!! Gonna try it on aokp
My n7 took about 7-10 minutes to complete. I made sure to not let mine go to sleep (had the time out issue on his alpha3 version so knew better). Might want to add to the directions just to disable rotation and lengthen screen timeout.
Only oddity is it still goes back to default wallpaper (funky green grass) but that really affect nothing as you can then set the wallpaper as you desire after boot.
Excellent work, you da man!
On a side note, many status bar and notification drawer options in cm10.1 don't work, and tabletUI uses a different quick settings model so those don't work either. Please note, this is NOT a criticism of this mod or thought of as a bug. It is just an effect of enabling tabUI. To me I happily accept this trade off.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
It worked and I got a tablet UI (I'm running cm10.1 nightly). When I open notifications and press the button for "clear all", it clears them all. If I press that spot again after the notifications are clear, I get "Unfortunately System UI as stopped".
Worked great for me. No fc's yet. Looks nice, especially with apex launcher in tablet mode.
Edit: It seems to shave a bit off the sides of app icons in both home screen and app drawer.

"Safe Mode"

Okay, so I have a strange dilemma. I am currently using GB08 Stock Rooted of the ROM. Last week I was using my phone when suddenly my phone rebooted by itself, at first I thought it was an app crashing or something normal which happens to all of us so I restarted it. Strangely, on the bottom left hand corner displayed a text box saying "SAFE MODE", to my knowledge I had this on my original Epic 4G and the solution for me was to restart the device, but it didn't go away. In addition all my apps were gone and the volume down button seemed to malfunction when turning the music down. As a solution I tried to ODIN GB08 (strangely the volume down button works when trying to get to Download Mode), but the volume up button doesn't work even though it does work when I boot it into "Safe Mode". I tried to use Mobile Odin but it the device won't allow me to use apps other than those that were pre-installed into the device. I tried taking out the battery and waiting up to 10 minutes and restarted it but no luck, so I want to know if any of you guys know how to fix this?
:crying:
I had this issue happen about a month ago. The volume down key is sticking.
You need to take the phone apart and clean it up. Repeatedly press the volume rockers until you feel that it is back to normal. Then put the phone back together and put the battery back in.

Well the volume rockers seem to fix itself, but went back to safe mode, I guess it is broken. I guess I'll have to get a new phone, I'll wait for the GS4 to come out since my contract is over in mid April. But thank you for helping me!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
A work-around for phones stuck in safe mode due to water damage etc but that seem to work fine otherwise is to convert the (trusted) apps you need from data apps to system apps (move the .apk from /data/app to /system/app after installing via the Play Store). You may need to use Mounts2Sd or something similar with an sd-ext partition if you don't have enough space in your internal /system partition for all the apps you need. (With Mounts2Sd, placing the apps in /data/app-system on the sd-ext partition will fool the phone into thinking the apps are in /system/app and you can then use them in safe mode). If anybody is aware of a simpler script that does the same thing, please lmk.
If this helps you, please hit the Thanks button.
