Why are you posting this in our thread? This is not the Nexus S 4G section, nor is it the Samsung Galaxy Prevail. This is the Epic 4G section.

Yes ik that.
But the thing you don't know is that I'm trying to flash my ns4g to boost. It is flashed the exact same way as the epic.

Wait...
You are trying to read from a Samsung Galaxy Prevail, which is not this forum.
To write to a EpicTouch, which is not this forum.
But it is ok, in your mind, because it is sorta like doing it to the Epic?
This is why we should have an "YOU ARE AN IDIOT!" button.

Hi there. It sounds like you're trying to read your HA/AAA keys, and you haven't gotten much help yet.
You're right that the programming procedures on the D720 and D700 are similar.
If you're trying to read the keys from your D720, you don't need to. NV item 1192 is not readable through QPST, but you can write to it. And that's what really matters, right?
I remember pre-2.3 D700 firmwares allowed me to read all the NV items. You could try flashing earlier firmwares to your device to see if that allows you to read restricted NV items. (This might be a problem on the D720 because it shipped with 2.3, but maybe NV items weren't locked down on early 2.3 versions? Try it out.)
Assuming you're trying to read keys from a non-D720 device, have you tried DFS?
[edit]
Sorry, I see you're trying to read from a Galaxy Prevail. I can't help you there. As others have already said, you need to seek help in the correct forum.

Okay so a lot of people have been flashing ROMS that are not for the Sprint galaxy s2 epic touch 4g( for example the European Galaxy s2 version of ICS) and end up getting a bricked phone that cant be read by the pc or odin. First of all READ B4 Flashing!!. secondly read the forum rules. Search before posting a new thread that someone already asked and lastly I am currently trying to find a way to fix this problem since my friend did the same thing and i have his phone at the moment. i will post an update if i find a solution unless someone beats me to it. Here is an example of what not to flash.
(do not flash u will have a fail EPIC)

Compatibility
This rom and the guide below is compatible only and only with Galaxy S2, model number i9100. It’s not compatible with any other device. Check your device’s model number in: Settings » About phone.

OMG! I was about to say WTF! lol
I'm attempting to sell my Epic 4G. Sprint says the ESN is clean, and was able to activate the phone on buyers account.
Voice works, 3G icon comes in, but data not working. HFA didn't work. They manually configured Phone#/MSID, etc. No data.
We thought it was the ROM (FC09-based, IIRC), so I flashed back to fully stock EL30. Same result.
Sprint store rolled it back to EB13, tried provisiong again. No change. I ended up giving buyer their money back after 2 hours at the Sprint store.
Back at home, I did a ##786# reset and a ##72786# reset.
Digging in with QPST, I noticed that even after all the resets my Sprint username (myaccountXX@sprintpcs.com) is still showing under PPP Config / Um / User ID. Would that be the problem? Should I blank it out?
This phone's HA / AAA passwords were changed in the past... do those get reset when provisioning?
What else should I be looking at?
Thanks!

Not familiar with EFS Clear, but searching it out is giving scary results. ("...Verizon tech...sent me a new phone", etc)
Safe to run? I don't want to brick the phone.
It clears out everything to make the phone ready to activate. It may try to do hands-free activation but since it is not active it will fail. If your buyer can't activate it and Sprint can't then what do you have to lose?

Odin'd to EL30, with "EFS Clear" checked, User ID is now "[email protected]".
HA/AAA values (most importantly, the HDR auth pass) are written to NVRAM. I don't think a factory reset will clear those values. I think you should be getting at least 1xRTT data, but no EVDO data unless you write those NV items back to stock. Once you change them, I believe they are lost forever (until an EFS clear at the very least).
There exist threads where people write about how to backup HA and AAA keys. If a ##RST# restored these NV items, these guides wouldn't be necessary.
tl;dr
You may be SOL using 3G data with your original MEID. Good luck.

This phone was sold to me as having a bad ESN, so I didn't bother backing up the NV info when playing with it. Now that I'm selling it, the ESN turns out to be clean!
Is there a higher level of Sprint tech that could restore/recreate/repair the incorrect HA/AAA info?
It seems a waste to force a good-ESN phone to Cricket/Virgin/Boost.

I wouldn't think so. The critical info is the profile 0 HA key. Everything else is easy to obtain.
I've read that the M.IP_0 HA key is somehow calculated based off the MEID and burned in by the manufacturer. If true, it would be some value calculated and verified by the network when associating with your phone.
This sounds plausible because all the other keys have valid alphanumeric plaintext values (e.g., on Sprint, AA is always "secret", and profile 1 HA is a random jumble of 6 alphanumeric characters), but M.IP_0 HA is nonsense (non-alphanumeric) when converted from hex to ASCII. Anyways, because the network may calculate this independently based on an internal hash, I doubt any tech can tell you the key (it's unique for each handset, not readable in plaintext, and, as far as I know, the hash used to calculate it is publicly unknown (if it was known, we wouldn't need to NV read our old phones' profile 0 entries)).
This is as much as I bothered to read/comprehend. Someone more knowledgable than I is welcome to correct me.

First you need to setup a boost account and get the donor phone active so that you can port the sprint number over to boost before you cancel with sprint. Once the donor is good to go and your number has been ported then you can start with the xfer of info from the donor to your ET.
Remember boost does not "roam" if you can live with that or dont really need roaming by all means switch.
Or you can wait till the ET is on boost, sell yours and buy the boost version which will be the same as the sprint version.

You will need to read more than just the tut on how to flash the et4g of you don't understand the jargon. You will need to read up on what everything means as well and how to use the software required for the flashing process. You can't just flash a zip and switch carriers, it's not as simple as unlocking a GSM phone, and can seriously damage or brick the device. If you pull or push the wrong NV items your device won't boot up or connect to cdma workshop or qxpt or whatever its called and can be a real ***** to repair once the NV is borked so you need to do some studying before you jump into this.

Theoretically the settings will stick between flashes, they do when flashing roms from recovery, except occasionally mms apn settings will need to be reset. However depending on what you flash thru Odin they may not stick if the tar includes NV items it will screw it up, I've never flashed a phone to another carrier but I know alot of ppl who have and have no issues flashing the basics, rom, kernel, modem/radio, mods, themes, etc. But if you do a full tar restore in Odin there's a chance it could include files that will overwrite the donor settings but I'm not 100% sure on that

Oh, that's fine then.
I mean that if I use Odin to flash a kernel and recovery that it won't ruin anything.
I ask because on my EVO 3d almost every other Time I flash a Rom it resets my meid and esn back to sprint; that's why I'm going to the et4g. Hopefully it won't happen over here.

tried that too.. still no dice..i also read somewhere changing the spc to 000000 might help, but no dice with doing that either. I also read somewhere that when updating to jb 4.1.2 it killed the 16 digit code, but reverting back to 4.1.1 or 4.0.1 brought it back. So im going to try that next.. ill update, thanks garwynn
Just to update.. Yes flashing back to ICS fixed the problem i was able to use default samsung pw. Weird how this doesn't work on JB 4.1.2
