First try GPS status. Get it from the market. Once you open, hit menu, tools, manage a-GPS, reset. Then go back to manage a-gps, and hit download. wait for a gps sat lock

If you decide on trying the gps fix you will need to do it through the temp bml cwm5.

Just tried this on build 29. Got 0/2 fix/sats. Haven't had to use GPS for anything in a while, but yeah, its not working very well. I tried navigation also, and it just sits on searching for GPS.

Got 11 out of 11 satellites and fix to 3 ft! The CIA can find me easily now! I installed the gps fix on CleanGB before CM9 or AOKP and it seems to have stuck. If you can't get it working you may have to go the Odin route, make sure it works, leave it on, root and flash AOKP.

You need to do it on mtd and.mount system first. CM9/AOKP already use these gps drivers so there is no point.

First and formost my phone is on stock eb13 with genocide kernel, rfs, and rooted with oneclickroot v2.5.5 and am still really new to all of this so please help me out.
First I was wondering if I can flash bonsai right away or if I need the new clockwork 3.x with ext4?
Second I was wondering if anyone on this rom is having any of the same battery charging problems as those caused by the new syndicaterom with twilight kernel on ext4?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Pretty sure Bonsai scans your phone and formats it for EXT4 if it isn't already. It backs up your data and restores it, too. Just do a complete backup then flash it. If it is a no go, just restore.

Mine charges fine while off.
Anyone using Sprint Navigator? Please check how many satellites it finds under Share & More/Diagnostics. I have 2 epics, 1 on Bonsai and 1 with just stock and Genocide, and both report 1 satellite and 10% GPS. GPSTest reports 9 Satellites and Google Nav works fine (hate the voice and graphics).
Thanks.
Can't install extras...
I tried installing the removed apps, and when running from "Install from SD Card" it says it is aborted and not installed. Any secret I am missing out on?

Live Wallpaper
I installed the missing live wallpaper files to the system/app folder on the phone but I cant get them to show up. I read something about changing the permission of the files, but have no idea how to do it.
Help!
Love the Rom so far!

Finally found it. Used Ghost Commander to change the permissions. Live Wallpaper is back but some seem to be missing from the stock selection that came with the phone. No worries.
Okay I finally pulled everything off and now have bonsai4all on my phone but for some reason I can't connect to wifi any more? It does come up, and I did save the ip address, but now, for some odd reason, it won't connect to it... help?

First of all I'm on AOKP 715 m6. My gps was nonexistent even though it was good on earlier versions. I was running a modded vle radio which i don't remember the source. Anyways, i flashed tdj's modded vle radio in one of his threads and gps initial locked on in less than 5 mins. It then locks on in less than a min after that.
At first i thought it was the kernel, so i flashed different ones, but no changes. however the radio definitely fixed it for me on AOKP.
So to those with gps problems try flashing tdj's modded radios. Sorry for being lazy on my phone and not linking them.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
This was discussed months ago. Its the basic reason modded radios were made. Apparently the RILS break GPS. So yes GPS won't work unless you flash one of the modded radios, as you found out by accident lol.

I am not using a modded radio I am using the one that came with the ics official update uvle1. And I am running AOKP M6 7-15. My GPS is the best it has ever been I get instant locks even indoors. And It is accurate too. I have also used other roms and had the same results.

yeah i remembered that discussion, and I flashed a modded radio and it worked for most ROMs. I was then really bothered that my uber great locking GPS was no more... I seriously thought I flashed TDJ's radio because I had a file with the same name in my sd card. So I was bummed and decided to test kernels because thats like testing 2 things at once lol. But yeah I ended up checking the md5 of the modded radio i had on my sd card and it turns out it wasn't the same. Must have gotten it from a different thread even though the file name was the same.
But yeah it's just a little reminder to those who have GPS problems, that even though you may think you have a perfectly working radio... you should just flash TDJ's radio mods just in case.
Just flashed TDJ's modded UCLE1 radio...still no luck with GPS

What do you guys mean when you say "breaks GPS"? I am trying to determine if my problem is similar to yours.
My problem is not really an issue with the GPS but an issue with Google Maps. When I use navigation from point A to point B, say Schaumburg to Chicago, it'll always speak directions as if it's going from point B to point A, although all the on-screen directions are correct.
I uninstalled the app and reinstalled, but have not yet tested to see if that fixed it.

Yes this is what I have to do every time I flash a ROM and GPS breaks. I made a thread about it and there are also 2 more threads. Its a zip file you flash through cwm. Also people don't forget that if you're on cyanogenmod that you have to go into location services, GPS source and tick "use internal GPS". Or else GPS will barely work.

didn't know he had a ucle1 radio, he has a uvle1 radio though maybe try that one.
If it is the first time you're trying to lock on, it might take a while, you should turn off wifi and data while leaving your GPS on. Stand outside with it on for 5-10 mins or so, it should get a lock on. After that your GPS locks quicker the more frequent you use it.
I think a lot of people would expect GPS to lock on right away, this only happens if your phone has recent locks to the GPS. I find it best with wifi and data off and to just leave the gps on and google maps on.
btw i've tried the AGPS patch before, but if you have a crappy radio it still won't connect lol.
Here's the screenshot without data or wifi. This is inside my house. Notice the gps signal has a constant dot in the middle, i know for aokp this means i have locked on.probably the same for cm, not sure about tw, haven't been on that for a month.
Anyways it has went as low as 4m, so pretty good. This is without apply the patch.

I get no GPS lock with cm10, what ROM should I use to get a GPS lock before flashing cm10? I tried using a caulkin ROM I had on my sdcard but it sent my phone into bootloops, was hoping to avoid that this time around.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Use the el 29 temp boot that is somewhere buried in the dev pages or found on the cm9 blogspot. You might also be able to use the FF18 tempboot. I can't remember if that works with CM10 right now, but the el29 tempboot will for sure work. There is a qbking77 video showing how to use each one though.

This is a very common issue that comes up a lot. I personally flash an ICS Rom from Mijjah74 (blend) turn on GPS and start navigating through maps to any address. Leaving navigation running, Boot into recovery, flash format2x.zip, and flash the jb Rom, then GApps.

Doesn't sound like a hardware issue. First thing I would try is wiping data, cache and system in recovery and re flashing your rom. If that doesn't work, I would definitely try Odin.

Going from ICS to JB can do funny things when doing it through recovery. Not all partitions are overwritten using recovery, so you still have some ICS stuff there. It's always best to use Odin when going back and forth between different bases, if possible.

Can you provide a bit more? Is the GPS not turning on? Incorrect location?
Make sure when you're testing you have a clear view of a good chunk of the sky. Turn off "Allow Mock Locations" (in developer options) to make sure something isn't providing bad information overriding the GPS antenna. Also make sure the app you're using has permission to use Fine Location
