[Q] htc supertool not working?

i have unlocked my bootloader with htcdev.but when i tried to use htcsupertool my phone isnt rooted by it.so what should i do now?

Search for doomlord's rooting kit on xda.................it works perfectly

not working..any other solution or manually any trick to root phone?

Try this or this.
If that doesn't work, flash ClockWorkMod recovery through the bootloader, then install a root.zip.

I can't seem to get it working at all all it does is set at the screen. Should I re-lock it and try again?

[Q] Help rooting android 2.3.3 Xperia Play r800at

Hello, I am new to these forums but have looked through (to the best of my ability) and have not found the solution to my problem. That problem is that I want to root my AT&T Sony Ericsson Xperia Play r800at (android v. 2.3.3).
I had it previously rooted using the Zergrush method (was still on 2.3.3) and it worked just fine, then about a month ago (perhaps half a month) my phone automatically updated itself via the software update function. Now I cannot get root back using the Zergrush method. I also tried the SuperOneclick method to which it hangs on step #7 and I am at a loss.
What information do you need about my phone to help in figuring out any possible solution?
Thank you for your assistance and I look forward to any replies.

Have you tried with DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit?
PD: If the phone updated after November 2011 it seems you can't use zergRush, try with Flashtool

Indeed I have, that was the Zergrush method I mentioned previously. Thanks for asking.

I'm new with this but I think that your only solution is unlocking the bootloader and flashing a custom kernel & rom

If I were to use Flashtool, what kernel would I need and do I absolutely need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash said kernel? Also, is there way to relock the bootloader (with original files intact) just in case I need to return the phone to AT&T repairs/maintenance or anything?

Ok, I've searched a bit more, seems thath you DON'T need to unlock your bootloader, just need to flash a firmware build that can be exploited by zergRush method.
I've searched and I found this (I haven't tried it)
1. Download flashtools
2. Download the .270 build Xperia_Play_3.0.1.B.0.270_ATT.rar
3. Flash the older build
4. Use flashtools to root
And you should get root acces

Yep that will work. Once rooted you can update to the latest AT&T build which is .285 but you must do it OTA. If you update through your computer it will remove the root.

He was talking about the carrier branded rom from AT&T which is his cellular provider. OTA means over the air. Basically doing the whole update process through the phone.

Since you were talking about OTA updating and such: If I were to root and then update to the latest build OTA is it still possible to unroot using the flashtool or whatever was used to gain root? The reason I ask this is should AT&T ever need to look at my phone...

I think that the answer is yes, just update the phone with pc companion, also you can flash again .270 firmware and the phone should get unrooted

Awesome, and is there anything else I should be aware of? After all I am flashing things *wink wink*

As far i know, if you want to try any room, make sure that is compatible for locked bootloaders (you phone have a locked bootloader) and for you mobile phone type , follow the instructions carefuly and if you don't understand something, ask Oh, and don't try to flash a custom kernel (like DoomKernel) with a locked bootloader beacause you will brick your phone.
That's all I can tell you

if you downgrade will you lose your files?

i got the arc s 2.3.4 v and tried to root with superone click and other Gb methods. also have installed adb on windows, but after process ends and phone reboots , phone still unrooted?
have u encountered this kinda problem?is there a solution?

If you got baseband .62or .69 you will not be able to
root using doomLord's zergrush method.
The only options are:
1. using flashtools downgrade to .42 then
root using zergrush
2. unlock bootloader then install a
custom kernel that is pre rooted.
if you search on the stickies all answers
are there. Both in general and dev

I have been looking for instructions how to downgrade to .42 but all i saw was saying "using flashtoo"
i got flashtool installed but may some1 can link me to an "how to"
also thought of open bootloader but i have read that it wipes everything, does thT means he wipes only data but rom remains the same?

Root. A word so simple, yet so complexed.
Every android user on XDA should know what it is, but people only know what they can do with it, not how and why.
There are already a ton of threads describing what root is, but here's something most of those threads forget:
To obtain root access, you need a 'su' binary inside /system/bin .
Also, you need an app to control apps that gain root privileges. The two you're most likely to hear about are SuperUser (SU) and SuperSuperUser (SuperSU).
So, if you have a recovery, you can flash a zip file that puts a su binary inside /system/bin , and installs the controller app (SuperUser and SuperSU). -- That way you don't need a PC to root your phone. Also, you don't lose any data and there's no risk of bricking your phone.
But, as I can see, people here aren't aware that they don't need PCs for rooting.
They flash kernels from all sorts of stock FW releases, use a billion programs, and finally, they get root after a good amount of time and flashing, usually with a lot of risk of bricks.
So, a quick step-by-step guide on how to do root like a pro:
1. You need a phone with a recovery and internet (be it WiFi or mobile data).
2. Go here: http://downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip and save the file to your phone. Remember where you saved it!
3. Boot into recovery and flash the zip.
4. Reboot back into Android

I think u need an unlocked bootloader. U can root using bin4ry method without unlocking bootloader but it works upto 6.1.a.2.50 only.

i have Xperia S 2.55, and bin4ry method doest work. To apply this method, i repeat my question how can i get recovery, if for get it, i need first a rooted phone?

How do you suppose we get a custom recovery without using different tools or unlocking bootloader?

Yes great guide, but only for UB ... for LB you need root BEFORE you install CWM...
al with .55 FW i recomend - flash any older rootable FW, root it, install CWM ... via CWM flash stockbased rom ( KA, XTX ) and thats all... or you an flash prerooted .55 FW ....

Okay, fine, schratch that!
Use goo.im manager from the play store and install the TWRP recovery!
Problem solved, but the main point is that people don't need PCs for root!!

[Q] Best way to root

In the ever changing market of roots and exploits I believe it would be nice to have a device specific rooting "poll". the other reason I'm starting this thread is because I can't seem to root my phone tried towelroot but it says my device is not supported. Im running stock 4.2.2 and I want to root mainly so I can back everything up before I custom install stock 4.4.2

Towelroot works for 4.4
Being on 4.2.2 you could try the Safe-Root method depending on your actual Firmware. Otherwise you have to stick to rooting through CWM.
All methods have their threads here. Please read them.

You could also backup your data with adb without root and after update restore this adb backup to your device. So there's no need to root before installing custom 4.4.2

CWM all day! so fast and easy to do plus it's easy to unroot.

http://www.s4miniarchive.com/search/label/Root Find your model version and read the instructions, you won't regret it.

4.2.2 can be rooted using Kingo. Doesn't trip knox.
