Hi
Hboot = Stock
Version = Beta_0.5.1 and 0.4.5
Full wipe before? = Cache and dalvik wiped
A2SD-script = Stock A2SD
I was running Leedrioid with a ext4 partition of 1gb as I only rooted and flashed my phone a few days ago. Flashed to Sandvold ICS ROM and no matter which version I try of the above it just stays on the boot up X animation. Only once did it reach the next screen (0.4.5), but kept saying no sim when there was one.
I installed as default, and only once chose to install the Apex launcher and still get the same problem I have read the thread for Sandvold ICS and could not find any similar problem.
Any ideas?
Also not sure if I want to do a full wipe as not sure what that entails. I assume it would wipe my backups?
You have to perform a full wipe. Delete everything !
Do a nandroid backup first. Wipe everything except the sd card. Otherwise it will never run.
After the nandroid backup you can also copy all the content to your pc to be absolute save

When you say nandroid backup, does that mean hboot - recovery - backup/restore?
Wipe everything hboot - recovery - wipe cache partition, then wipe dalvik cache, then wipe data/factory reset?
As you stated don't wipe the SD card, and obviously I don't want to so assume the above won't wipe the SD card
Cheers
Yes backup/restore - choose backup, then copy ALL content from Sd to pc to be save. Then wipe data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, boot, system, sd ext, data. To be sure everything is wiped correctly. Then install the Rom.
If you don't like it you can format again and copy everything back to your sd and then perform a restore from the backup/restore menu !
And to be safe ... copy your phone numbers to sim. I made that mistake one time !
And the wipe data/factory reset will NOT wipe the sd card !

This just started recently nandroid isn't working for me .
I'm on amonra 2.3 and when I back up my rom then try and re flash it , it stays stuck on the white htc evo screen .
Can someone help me plz

When you create a nandroid backup, I suggest doing the following, if you aren't:
1. Wipe Cache & Dalvik
2. Create the nandroid using the default settings as well as android.secure
3. Reboot to your homescreen, but know that the initial boot will take some time.
When restoring the backup, I suggest doing the following. NO, it is NOT necessary to wipe before restoring, but I do anyway.
1. Wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card.
2. Restore the backup
3. Reboot to your homescreen.
If you've renamed the FOLDER that the nandroid backups are stored in, you will NOT be able to restore until you revert to the Original Name.
If you've renamed the backups themselves, make sure you DO NOT use special characters in the name or your restore will fail.
I've been using nandroid back up for a while now but I just started having this issue .
It won't even boot tho it stays on the white htc evo screen
I have even tried flashing the rom on top of the back up but it doesn't work .
The only way I can flash a rom is by starting fresh

Seems like they may be corrupted, or incomplete.
Did you recently partition your sd card for some of the new ROMs? Not backing "sdext" up and not wiping that before restores could be causing your problems

When you make your backups, it usually has data, boot, and system checked by default... to backup your partitions, also checkmark the box next to 'sdext" ... and to wipe your sdext, from the wipe menu, scroll down to sdext and wipe it. Just be sure you don't chose sdcard
You'll notice your backups with the sdext also backed up will have a slightly different name... old ones started with BDS... which is "B"oot, "D"ata, and "S"ystem... backups with the sdext added in will start with BDES, can you guess what the "E" is?

So recently I've been trying to flash the CM9 nightlies and all attempts have led to boot-loops. I was wondering if it was just a bad download so I tried to install AOKP and got the same results...so then I tried the new Paranoid Android rom and still got boot-loops. So is my phone like rejecting 4.0? somebody please help me out with this!

I've had this problem before. What I had to do to fix it was flash another recovery. You can also try fixing permissions in CWM.

Thanks pure! I'm trying the method of fixing permissions first and if that's unsuccessful I'll try another recovery.
I'm still having issues. I've tried the permission fix and different recovery and still nothing.

You tried a new recovery as in you went from:
-CWM to Amon Ra?
OR
-CWM 5.0.0.x to CWM 3.0.0.8?
If you only did option 1, have you tried reflashing CWM in hboot?
If you only did option 2, try option 1 then. If that fails, try going into a saved nandroid, open Rom Manager, and select a different version of CWM. Make sure that you go onto settings and check "Erase Recovery."
I went from CWM to Amon.

So I've still had no luck getting anything to run but my current. I've done all three things mentioned and still absolutely nothing. I cleaned out my SD yesterday and pretty much got rid of a lot of useless stuff, could that have effected anything?

You probably are but i gotta ask, are you wiping everything before flashing? Meaning formating everything in the mounts and storrage menu in cwm except emmc and sd.
Yes I was, this pretty much goes with the whole reason I wanted s-on. I had this theory that if I returned to complete stock and re-rooted my phone that I could flash properly again, and I was correct.

Here's a trick to ENSURE installation.
Make sure u back up ur apps on titanium.
1. Wipe user data 2x
2. Wipe cache partition 2x
3. Wipe Dalvick Cache 3x
4. Format boot 2x
5. Format system 2x
6. Format datadata 2x
7. Format data 2x
8. Format cache 2x
9. Flash the Rom.
10. Boot up and enjoy ICS.
This is what I do to make sure it is done. I dont trust manual installation.
Do this every time.

Wipe everything !
Go to 'WIPE' and select 'FACTORY RESET' then wipe 'CACHE' and 'DALVIK CACHE' then reboot and start your ROM from scratch.

I flashed ParanoidAndroid recently on my d2att and everything worked perfectly, except for the fact that it wouldn't recognize my SIM card. Fortunately, I was able to go back to CyanogenMod from the NANDROID backup I had made. I later found out the reason my SIM wasn't recognized was because my IMEI was wiped in the process... is there any easy way to backup/restore it or prevent this from happening next time?

Did you ever end up recovering your imei?
Also when you switched from cyanogenmod to paranoid android, did you clean wipe? (wipe data, cache, dalvik cache AND wipe system?)

No idea. It was in the instructions for clean flashing in some ROM thread and I've always formatted system ever since just to be on the safe side.
Also I've found these two links. Hopefully they're of help to you.
