stuck in landscape mode - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ok another newbie question..
i took my phone from the infuse car dock.. not sure if i hit some sort of button combo..
but now my buttons that are normally across the bottom.. are now up the right side...
now when my slide screen is there... it is fine.. so i get the pin unlock..that is fine..
now im unlocked.. my picture is fine..
my application/messaging/contacts/phone buttons.. that usually are on the bottom are now going down the right side... and they are not upside down or anything...
when i flick my finger to go between screens everything is normal... but im getting 3x4 tiles...
where my apps are 4x4.. so icant get to anything on the right side...
any ideas???

Should be in q&a....but have u gone into settings/display and checked if screen rotation is checked? A reboot? Are you on a custom ROM or stock?

Disable adwlauncher auto rotate?

Anyway to disable autorotate for homescreens only and not everything else?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I think Cyan's Rom allows that. Not sure otherwise. Do you use Spare Parts? It might have that option too.
Sent from my EVO using xda App
hmmm wierd i dont see anything that only turns off homescreen auto rotate either, either you can turn if off completely or you can't kinda sucks, gets kinda annoying to wait for it to go back to portrait everytime you take it out of the pocket.

Screen reversing itself, reboot only way to fix

MY phone has done this twice now. The screen with flip itself and look like I'm looking at the phone in a mirror. The buttons, words, icons are all mirrored but I still have to tap in the normal spot to get them to work.
I have to pull the battery to get it fixed. Anyone else have this happen?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
I've had it happen once as well, don't know what caused it.
Some rom devs have identified the issue is with the screen orientation transition effects.

This worked for me. No one has provided any feedback as to whether it working for them or not.

It is the ICS rotation animation causing it. Sometimes you can reproduce it if you lock the screen in landscape mode I believe

I've had this happen to me a couple of times.
I never had to pull the battery to fix it though... All I had to do was turn the phone to a different orientation, and then turn it back.
Whenever I had that issue I just tilted my phone sideways and it fixed it. Did you try putting it in landscape mode after the issue?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I tried everything, it would even rotate mirrored. If it happens again, I'll try stuff

When it happens to mine I just unlock it and turn it to the side then back up, goes back to normal after.
Originally I was only able to get out of it by pulling the battery. If you use a lock pattern it doesn't respond correctly to touch inputs.
I went to take a screen shot of the screen while it was upside down/mirrored, and when it shot it the screen went back to normal. I was able to unlock the phone. Seems like an easy enough workaround till the problem is resolved.

Tmobile gs 3 how to make a screen shot?

My friend told me use palm to cover the whole screen then it can make screen shot but I try it not working
You have to slide the SIDE of your hand across the screen either left or right
Covering the screen with your hand mutes sound like music ect.

I can't get that slide your hand trick to work. You can press the home button + power button to take a screenshot too.
It's very simple.. This should help http://www.blogyourearth.com/en/sma...-samsung-galaxy-s3-palm-swipe-to-capture/3986
Make sure yu have the setting on.. Settings /motion / palm swipe to capture also the side of your palm has to be TOUCHING the screen as your swiping.. I've seen others with this problem they were waving their hands across instead of actually touching the screen...

Thank you
Why not just check youtube

That's one way. The easiest way, IMO, is the hold Power + Home button combo.

I still can't get this to work. If I touch my palm to the screen, the notification bar comes down or the screen swipes to the next page or something. Maybe I am just stupid. I will just just the button method forget this gesture crap.

Don't use your palm face down to do it.. You have to turn your hand right and use the SIDE of your palm then swipe across like in the picture in the link I posted.. Good luck hope you get it!

[Q] Swipe for screen shot

i have looked but could not find what i was looking for.i have an sgs3 from sprint, stock.the swipe for screen shot worked then stopped working.i dont know if an app or setting caused this.i have the feature checked in options, but still no luck.can anyone help.if this has been discussed, please direct me to where.thank you
Idk but as an alternative, you can just hold home+power and it'll take a screenshot. Did you debloat your rom? Maybe you removed the motion apk?

Try this, go to Settings, then Motion, then scroll to the bottom. There should be a section title "Hand Motions". Make sure "Palm swipe to capture" is checked.

yeah i have done so a few diffrent times and still nothing.i have been reading diffrent forums and trying to get as much info as possible.will just resort to the home button/power button to use the screen shot feature.thanks for the help
You know you have to actually place your hands on the phone right?

yeah.i have tried a bunch of ways, but i am obviously doing something wrong.crazy how im making something thats supposed to be so simple so complicated..lol
Funny thing is I was watching a review on the SG3 the other day and the guy in the video couldn't get it to work either
The hold home+power button didn't work?

I gave up on using the Palm swipe method. Works sometimes and when it does I'm usually dragging a screen with it and taking a picture mid-animation. Home+ power works much better.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
It always works for me, but it can be clumsy and change the screen when you touch it. It is a neat idea, imo, so I wouldn't give up. Did you try doing a reset after wiping cache?

Make sure your using the side of your hand. (Like karate chop) place it firmly on the screen then pause for a sec then Swype. works for me every time.

Lock ups

I've been having an issue lately where my phone locks up.Sometimes It will happen after a reboot.. the screen will show half of the lock screen and half of the boot screen (and it will lock up in landscape). Strange thing is, I can here notifications while the screen is frozen. So it seems like it's booting up but the screen is frozen.
The other day I hung up on a call and put the phone in my pocket.. I went to get it and it was locked up with the dialer on the screen in landscape. But the power button and home button was able to make the phone goto sleep and wake up up.
It seems it always locks up in landscape.
This happens with multiple roms so I know it's not a rom issue. I always fully wipe when switching roms also. I've also tried wiping my internal storage and cleaning up my sdcard as well.
The other day I flashed back to stock and it didn't freeze. Although I didn't run it long enough I think.. I'm probably going to try stock again but dam it kills me to run stock lol
Just wondering if anyone had some input on my issue. if any other info will help determine the problem please ask.
Thanks in advance.

I've seen this with another user recently and it might be due to a kernel have you tried flashing a different kernel? And also many new ROMs are including landscape rotation in the lock screen and also an aosp lock screen which is very buggy have you tried disabling lock screen rotation or just disabling the whole system rotation?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the reply.. I've disabled auto rotate for a few days and its been ok.. going to try that for a few more then turn it back I and see.

Are you using a ROM with AOSP lock screen enabled?

hmm.. yes I was using asop lock but I could have sworn I've used it with no issues before.. might be just me though as I was flashing so many roms..lol..
Currently I'm using goodness 802 with tw lock, auto rotate disabled and its been fine. I'm going to enable auto rotate and leave tw lock enabled to see if that was it.

I found this out the hard way also: if you use AOSP lock screen you have to make sure all the TW lock screen options are off. If they're not then you get the stuck in landscape issue.
