You just need the touch screen digitizer to replace the glass with the scratches.
You can find the Defy touch screen here - Motorola Defy Touch Screen
great
is there a pdf guide how to deassembling, repair and replace parts?
Didn't find one, but there are some nice youtube videos on the subject that I used when drying out my wet Defy. Sorry, can't post the URL's as youtube is forbiden by our Admin at my workplace. Just search for "Defy disassembly" or "Replace Defy broken digitalazier"

Find a downloadable version of the Defy guide here to allow you to easily print and use this as a step-by-step guide.

Hi folks.
I've busted the screen on my Orbit whilst carrying it in my pocket at work. The glass digitiser beneath the clear plastic cover is cracked and there is a very faint "puddle" of grey ink behind.
I've found a new digitiser on eBay here so I've tried to dismantle the phone. Not having much luck so far apart from removing the 4 case screws at the rear I cannot disassemble the case, Any tips here?
Is the ink puddle in the digitiser part or do I need a new LCD as well? The LCD seems to be working perfectly and the ink mark is barely visible with the backlight on.
Cheers for any advice.
Pete.
Right I've dismantled the phone successfully - just need to be a little braver pulling it apart. The digitiser seems to be bonded to the LCD so I guess I'll have to buy the whole assembly.
Well for anyone who'se interested I managed to remove the digitiser off the LCD with a stanley blade, reassembled the phone and the grey mark on the screen has disappeared, so I'll be buying the digitiser off ebay and fitting that.

Hi, once the four screws are off how did you seperate the items - when I tried the four screws it did not loosen the device at all - I have a pen/wand stuck in my orbit and need to get it out.

True, but apply the force where? I have a habit of breaking these things,,,,,
Hi Jezd.
I started on the bottom corner opposite the stylus holder and once I lifted it a bit jammed my thumbnail in there and just ran it around the joint towards the top. Once it got so hard that I thought I might break something I did the other side. It popped open with a bit of effort.
hey, to go off-topic ever so slightly, the piece with the orange cable coming out of it is the part you actually touch?
i got a scratch on my screen and would like to replace it if its just this piece:
http://cnn.cn/shop/8525tytn-touch-p-87.html
ayuda me, por favor!
That touch screen does not fit the Orbit (and nor does the one I bought). I received my touchpad today and it's different to the one I have removed from my xda, despite the ad saying it was for the orbit.
Does anyone have a photo of an Artemis touch-pad so I can compare?
Here's a pic of the digitizer connections I have. I bought the digitizer from the eBay link above, but it has a different connector to the Orbit screen I have. I think that either they have incorrectly listed the digitizer, or that it actually does fit the Artemis but that the the orbit is shipping with the later screen that comes in the Trinity/P3600. I found a pic somewhere that shows the Trinity digitizer with a similar connector to mine. According to this website the screens are inter-changable so I gather it's quite feasible. Here's how the parts I have are different:

check out e-bay, you can get them cheaply
As above but watch out - there are two types of digitiser for the orbit. One has a ribbon about 8mm wide the other about 4mm wide. Check which one you have before ordering.
Here's the difference, the one I bought was a later-type screen as fitted I think in the Trinity (in fact if your digitiser is this type then you can have this one for free as I have no use for it) :
Cant find!
i can't find nothing for p3300 on ebay!
can you give me a link please?

Broken XDA Orbit screen
Hi,
I've replaced the screen on my Orbit, and I've posted the instructions on another forum.
http://www.modaco.com/Disassemble-XDA-Orbit-t260167.html
Hope this helps, and I used this item off ebay.

Matt
Hi all,
I also broke the screen of my XDA Orbit accidentally and I got this one to replace it:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=260309424816
Then I followed the instructions of this website to mount it:
http://www.formymobile.co.uk/orbitdisassembly.php
The operation went fine and the new display looks good, but now it seems that the phone is getting hot when talking and it runs out of battery very quick! A full charge lasts just for 3-4 hours, which is pretty annoying. I think it might be overheating or something...
Anyone had this problem before? How can I fix this?? Thanks!
Nobody????
Since I saw A request of a teardown (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443139) I decided to do one at my work and since i own the TMO SGS2, I wanted to share.
And i must say this phone is all housing, compared to the Skyrocket and way different than the Skyrocket on the inside. (People had been saying they are similar or the same)
PLEASE THIS IS NOT A GUIDE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS FOR DISSASEMBLY OR ANY WAY TO FIX YOUR DEVICE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE IF YOU ATTEMPTED IT.
I work doing this and I've been almost a year and a half working in repairing and Programming androids. (and Blackberry)

How many screws, and types of screws, did you have to remove?
How difficult is it to replace the screen assembly? Does the entire phone have to be disassembled to get to it? Can you provide a few pictures?

Just the six you see on the back. Once you pop the back the board feels almost loose. I had to be careful cause when poping the back the board almost went with it. the screen alone with the frame felt rather flimsy I guess taking that screen of can be compare between the hassle with the Evo 4g and the Inspire (which I find the Inspire to be one of the stressing phones out for screen replacement.) Due to the fact you can damage the frame in the process. You have to dig the screen out. Unlike the i9100 which came out fast with a little heat.

But still its a risk I mean replacing it its not cheap at all! Almost $230 for the screen assembly. I am still trying to handle these screens (at least i was able to separate the i9100 screen from the frame with out causing further damage than it had, so I guess thats a start.)
If i get a phone for screen replacement Ill surely take pics.

While the technology is capable of being applied to flexible media the amoled displays in our phones are applied to hard glass media and in fact are more likely to break than the gorilla glass leaving the amoled display shattered behind the gorilla glass. This is why you see so many "broken screen" phones for sale on ebay that don't turn on, the phone doesn't appear to fully boot when the amoled display is broken...

Thanks a ton.
Would it be possible to get less fuzzy pictures? The motherboard pretty much looks like a jumble of blobs on my end.
OK, thanks. Now we'd only need a cheap source to buy replacements.
Amazing thanx for the great info and step by step instructions with the pictures. I do not know if I would ever do this as My Big fingers have trouble with such little parts. Very courageous of you and I am glad you were able to fix your Glide.
No problem, glad you found the guide useful.
Please excuse the late reply, figured this would be the best place to ask.
I'm currently repairing my Glide, the slider is damaged and my home keys don't work. I think I've got the slider figured out. My issue is that I'm not sure what to replace to repair the home keys. I believe it's the ribbon that is connected between the screen and the digitizer. I've circled it (and arrowed it) in the image below.
imgur.com/NFCjD (No links yet, sorry.)
I think it's think because there's a slight tear in it. My biggest problem is, I don't know where the hell to find that ribbon or what it's called. Any idea? Thanks.

Maybe you can find the part that you need: cellphonerepairshop.com. I bought an antenna from there and they shipped the item very fast.
I have a bricked camera and am now convinced that it is a hardware problem and a camera module is only $15 online, do you have better pics of the back with the housing off so I can see the cam module before attempting this or maybe you can answer this, can the cam be replaced after the back housing is off without more disassembly ? I'm 99.9% sure i can fix it but this is my only phone for now and i'm just trying to be educated before i start, Thanx
Dido on the Camera repair
Thx for the walkthrough, my Glide got water damaged but the screen and camera have no visible damage and if I can get a used one for cheap on eBay that just has a scratched screen I will definitely try this out but would also be interested in how to interchange the Camera just in case the Camera lens is scratched as well. My phone wasn't soaked but it was in my pocket when I had to walk home in the rain and I'm pretty sure it just got wet around the battery and probably shorted the board.
I am a noob and yes i used the search and this is where it led me.
It's curious.
You have to use the dryer or something like that with the outside edges of the device in order to soften the held adhesive.
Does this mean that adhesive it's the only thing that fixes the screen to the phone body? I ask this cause I bought what seems to be a refurbished one that I'm returning right know. It looks completely new, but the screen started to come off the phone structure one week after I started to use it.
Is this due to an screen replacement, and that adhesive as the only thing to hold the screen in the device? LOL
It is possible to replace just the LCD screen for this model?

Hi exists any way of remove, replace the len of the camera and put other? because my len is scratched and i dont know what to do!!
Ty
firstly: what device are you using?
i know you are using xperia ion because you stated that in another question
possible but my question to you:
are you good enough of a user to actually replace the lens itself?
there is a very detailed unveiling of the xperia internals that was created near the beginning of this device
but will you risk buying the separate lens and replacing it? or will you send it to the sony and if they mess up you get a new phone ?
(not doubting your skills or anything, simply asking you to rethink your process)

the thread i was talking about in case you do wish to do it yourself but you need to find the exact lens yourself ( too lazy too find it for you xD)

I had this problem myself and i fixed it using a lens from another phone(I wasn't using my N95 so i took it from that one), the best solution is to buy the MIDDLE plate(it can be seen on the link 424aca posted, picture 4) The middle plate has the lens, they don't sell them separately(I looked, couldn't find it). The process itself is very easy, you can follow the ion dissasembly video somebody posted(look it up). All you need is torx t5(or t6 cant remember exactly) and phillips screwdrivers, plus a prying tool(I used an old credit card) to remove the top and bottom covers and remove the back plate. The middle plate has several screws you need to take out before removing.

Yes i thought it but im thinking now that the lens is not scratched, in the pic 5, i suppose the back cover has a film or plastic and it is scratched, what do you think ?

The back cover doesn't have the plastic lens, the middle plate does, and that is what got scratched. you can test it yourself, remove the back and middle plates and take a picture, if you get a clear image then the plastic lens on the middle plate is the one that's scratched.
