Saw this and cussed a little. Central VA ignored again. Knew WiMax wan'tt happening but figured with several Universities and Government installations around maybe LTE would make it here.
Thanks Sprint.
but you'll get roaming lte. better than nothing i suppose.
Niiiice. All of Maryland is covered.
Now I just need that blasted Galaxy Nexus...
why the gnex... give sprint like 2 months and get the one x seriously the gnex is so far behind even compaired to our phones.
sweet my area is in there....looks like my contract will be up next year so plenty of time to get an lte phone

Clearwire was never dropped. You might be mistaken with Lightsquare.. Sprint always planed on building its own LTE network. Clearwire and Lightsquare are just extra support.

They should.
I'm really surprised that it isn't a much larger area considering that Network Vision was supposed to bring LTE to every tower on Sprint's network and their network coverage was supposed to expand pretty significantly with the Network Vision project.
We'll see.
Am I missing something? Do they consolidate areas in some weird arrangement? The state lines are really f'd up can somebody explain this to me?
Based on this though I'm good since I live in Kansas, specifically Overland Park

Sprint has roaming agreements with the major carriers VZW etc but they don't allow roaming 3g but on certain prl ....so that is why people hack PRls to allow 3g like the 11115 corporate prl allows 3g in certain areas .... But most roaming on VZW is 1x

Depends, check s4gru for your rollout schedule then check sprints network upgrade site and see if your schedule is up yet. S4gru has my area scheduled for phase 2 this year and sprint has my zip in the next 6month upgrade list. I've already had connection issues occasionally and when I've called sprint about it they've said they are upgrading the towers for network vision in my area and I should expect intermittent connection loss as they work on the towers, I've already seen a pretty decent jump in 3g speeds. I used to get 800kbps -1.2mbps regularly now peak I'm getting 1.2-2mbps and off peak 1.5-2.8mbps, and I never had 4g wimax here just decent 3g mostly because my house is in a sparsely populated area so my tower is well below load
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Well I am on 2 now almost for sure going to be 3-4 before Reno sees any 4G. and now with the switch to LTE it is going to be even longer.
I would expect Sprint to roll out LTE much quicker than Wimax. The problem with Wimax is it was beta and LTE is VHS. Sprint stopped rolling it out when they realized they would have to transition to LTE in order to be competitive.

I forget the sprint site off top of my head but sprint.com has a tower upgrade site that lets you put in your address or zip and tells you all upgrades done in the prior 6 months or scheduled in the upcoming 6 months, there's a link to it around here somewhere I usually get to it from my account page on sprint.com

So they are doing network vision updates in my area.
The area's that are done are pretty nice. No boost in signal which is fine, but the data speeds are fantastic! Unfortunately that's downtown only. The rest of the city on the other hand though had it's tower's taken offline for the upgrade and the towers serving us is now just the ones downtown. At home i went from 4ish bars to roaming missing calls, texts and such. Wouldn't care but I missed a few phone interviews today and pretty livid about that.
Hopefully I'll be reaping those benefits soon, and hopefully they are deploying lte not just upgrading the cdma.

99% sure upload is throttled to 1.5 Mbps. Being the total capacity of each tower is not being hammered for upload you usually see the 1.4* Mbps like I do. Download on the other hand is getting hammered.
Before anyone compains omg throttled. That is how it is supposed to be done, when you have a limited resource you qos throttle it.

I just realized that I most likely will NEVER get LTE where I live, I don't even have 4G. So, what is the point of waiting to buy an LTE capable phone if it's never coming to me anyway? They can still use 3G right? It's kind of frustrating knowing that I won't be getting it in my area, and if I do, it will be years from now, I think that's kind of bull****!!!

Switch carriers bro. No sense paying good money for high-end service that isn't available.
For market penetration, as previously mentioned VZW or possibly AT&T would be your best bet.
There plans, and phones suck though! I'm used to unlimited data I don't think I could handle that. Do you think if I said something to sprint there might be some small chance they do something?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Hmm.. I just checked some maps and it seems Lebanon doesn't have any actual Sprint towers. Your city is right next to some towers that are getting NV upgrades though but none in the actual city.
It might be a Shentel area, but I'm not certain. Shentel is a subsidiary / partner of sprint and is also doing "NV" roll-out in coordination with sprint.
Actually I do think you're in a shentel market as Lebanon is not far from Harrisburg which IS a shentel market. In that case, considering there's no Sprint towers in that entire region of Harrisburg and extending to Lebanon... you will probably get LTE and NV upgrades from Shentel.

You do have something there. Your area is part of Shentel as I've stated. Shentel is a subsidiary/partner of sprint and is also part of the network vision roll out. Your area is serviced by Alcatel-Lucent and is making steady progress in Harrisburg which also is literally next door to Lebanon, PA. You WILL get LTE 800mhz/1900mhz and likely CW 2.5ghz and NV upgraded 3g. All sprint and affiliates will be upgraded to that standard. It takes time but last check, Shentel is making good progress.
Here is more info on your area..

These are areas which USCC has NO 4g lte coverage because they lack the spectrum to do so or it's just not profitable. Not to mention these are also markets where sprint severely needs additional spectrum... the perfect storm i suppose.

Can I use another 4G LTE provider on the Galaxy Note II from Sprint?
I have Boost Mobile and I had a Galaxy S2 with Clear.com 4G WiMax. I now can only get 3G, and as you ALL know the 3G speed has lowered quite a bit. (200~400k vs 700~900k 3 years ago)
Another alternative I guess would be to get a Hotspot, but who wants to carry around a phone AND a hotspot when you can have them both on the phone?
I believe you can use this device on any network that is actually using Sprint towers, like MetroPCS (?) or Boost?
There are threads somewhere for instructions on flashing this.
(i'm also talking out my ass, because I have only noticed these threads in passing, never actually researched this. But I bet if you Searched a bit, you'd find the info.)

Thanks for the info but that's not what I meant. I mean the 4G service, not the voice, talk, text and 3G. I have that already. (that's what the thread under this one does, help you program the Note 2 on Boost, I already did that part. I meant the 4G LTE, i.e. connecting it on Verizon's LTE or T-Mobile's (MetroPCS is now part of T-Mobile I believe?) Heck, even a Sprint LTE account if they allowed it by itself with no talk/text service would be nice.

Impossible to do first off you need to understand how technology and radios work Tmobile is GSM. Sprint and verizon are CDMA and you can only "roam" on 3g verizon with a prl that can get you kicked off, if you abuse it.

Are u a retard? Hmm my guess im right on spot with that one. Sprint can suck it. GSM is better and if you don't agree? Take a ticket and take a seat next to the idiots that are waiting for me to give a Fuk.

I give facts and argument you insult sprint... well of course you are right. who has ever heard of the "can suck it" argument ever loosing. that's how we explained to Hitler and the Japanese emperor that he had to surrender in WW2 "Mr Hitler can suck it" -pres trueman, "since I can suck it I have ordered my forces to surrender and suggested to the Japanese to do the same"-hitler (translated to English)
if you can't give facts to support your claim you can go head and get an iPhone on a gsm network since you are using the same arguments apple uses to ensnare its sheep -i mean- customers
either that or you are an at&t rep or fanboy trying to weakarm customers away from sprint. why you aren't targeting your biggest competitor Verizon is beyond me but take that stuff to T-Mobile customers they'll eat that up like they eat their "unlimited" throttled data
one bad experience in one city with one small period of data speed downturn does not a bad carrier make
oh and mods don't blame chuko (or me) for starting arguments. arguments are healthy and help shape perception

In all fairness, Sprint in Denver does suck... 3g speeds right now. 200 kbps and no lte. There are a few lte towers popping up. but not in the metro area. Person in the cube next to me has AT&T and hspa+ is 15mbps and lte 40mbps. Faster than the cable provider here!

are you high? all game providers in the us suck. only tower owners are att and T-Mobile and T-Mobile doesn't have any real 4g neither Winmax nor lte and att has as much lte as sprint (and sprint is going to overtake att with network vision )

Tmobile has 4G LTE in almost all of New York with some decent coverage in Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia and they're just starting.. So they actually do have real 4G lol
