Is it true?
HTC Sensation and Sensation XE are being updated today to Android 4.0.3
And my G Nexus is 4.0.2
I thought Nexus would be first with updates?
> # doesn't mean greatness.
enjoy what you have..don't act like a kid
the day that the sensation will not receive android Jelly Bean and Key Lime Pie, the sensation's users will cry more than you
Maybe not for you, bur for me it does!
I bought my Nexus because everywhere I read about it was said that Nexus-phones get updates first from Vanilla Android.
And now HTC even ported their Sense over it?
Im starting to regret that I bought my Nexus. My SE Arc maybe wasnt that fast, but was more thinner and took much better pictures!
I dont mean to act like a kid.
Just dissapointed of all bull*¤&% about Nexus.

Several tablets, like the Transformer Prime, have been on 4.0.3 for weeks. You were guaranteed timely updates for the useful life of your phone, which is about 18 months. Not first.

Good play on version #
As more phone makers start to roll out ICS you'll see more and more version #'s, not necessarily equating to any tangible improvements.
This is a silly thread with a silly concern. Go root your phone.

Then sell your Nexus and go back. Nobody is making you keep it. you can root your phone and put 4.0.3 or even a 4.0.4 rom on it. If you dont want to root you phone you can unlock it, temporarily boot CWM and flash the stock 4.0.4 OTA.

well, you are acting like a kid. grow up.
I'm sorry you don't like your Nexus, but no one is forcing you to use it. Feel free to sell it and buy any HTC phone if you'd like. Truth is that the Nexus will still be the first to be updated to vanilla Android, because no other phone in existence will have it. You go buy the HTC phone it will have 4.0.3 and that's amazing! But it has Sense, and when it comes to the next update, you'll be *****ing again that its not coming and you'll want your Nexus back.
The fact that you'd consider leaving the Nexus on 4.0.2 for an HTC phone on 4.0.3 because its x.x.1 higher leads me to believe that you don't understand how great having a Nexus is.
I dont understand this impatience. The nexus will get the 4.0.4 update, likely very soon. Google is just finishing everything. They are not sitting around doing nothing. And they are not purposely holding back. They WANT us to have the update. Its just taking time.

As far as complaining you don't have 4.0.3, what improvements in .3 are you waiting for over .2 exactly?

Speaking of the "now generation" when are we getting a new BAMF? Jk man.
LOL.
Last I heard was next week, which will (hopefully) mark the first launch of the Maguro version.
Fine, Ill go rooting then.
But you guys really help me out if I dont succeed!
AFAIK theres a better radio (which is really useless today) in 4.0.4 or 4.0.3
If you really dont want your nexus i'll take it... Mine is in the shop getting wifi fixed. Had to RMA and i'm really missing it. I'm stuck using this brick of a Dell Streak, not having my nexus is really bad. But on the bright side I still have my Gtab running 4.0.3!
Within 12 hours of the official ICS rom release. This bodes well for us that once OTA comes source won't be far behind.
Man, I don't quite get it, we've been getting leaks like crazy. How does a non standard Galaxy s2 version (the one without exynos) become the first to officially get ICS in America? Wtf Sprint and AT&T...

You answered it. There are other phones out there with the same chip in it that have ICS already, so it was easy for Sammy to use those references and drivers. On our phone Sammy had to go back to the drawing board because the Combo CDMA/Wimax is a difficult beast to get straight. Tweaks in kernel, rom and radio all need to work nicely and on our phone it is a bit of a pain. It'll come soon enough and in pretty good shape as well.
Also we are getting 4.0.4 and T-mobile only has 4.0.3 so our 4.0.3 could have been released awhile ago, but they pushed on. But the chipset and 4.0.3 helped out a bunch.
We want quality not quantity. So patience will be virtue

I personally like and actually value the fact that we have NOT got the official ICS update yet. With all of the leaks being distributed its a very clear indicator that sprint/samsung still have on going development. And are really trying to refine and polish our this update before just handing it over to us. Also keep in mind that our epic touch is not the new kid on the block anymore and could quite possibly becoming to EOL soon. I mean they did get rid of the EVO 3d pretty quick and tghe epic came out shortly after that. This could very well be our last update we will ever see for our phone. So lets make it count! Lets embrace the leaks we are getting to show us what is yet to come. And lets keep a focus on a main point here and that there is active development by the manufacterer/sprint for our device and its currently on going....
What?!? ONLY 43%?!?
I hope I get to peek at this before going home, for certain that I won't after.

^^ what he (she?) said. For the t-mobile version they just had to tweak the international version a bit in terms of chipset and some other minor changes. The epic touch is really a distant cousin of the gs2 family due to the gsm/wimax/notification light etc... Also sprint want's it's apps to work with it as well so that could be part of the issue.

Actually, when comparing the family tree to the international version, AT&T's version comes closest, ours is next, and T-Mobile is the furthest away due to having a different cpu/gpu as well as a different modem (the 42mps HSPDA+ modem versus 21mbs on the international). Yet amazingly T-mobile's got there's out first lol.
While it's true that CDMA/Wimax typically creates the biggest delays, from the roms leaked since months ago, all of the bugs that still exists seems completely unrelated to the modem (sound bug, exchange server, etc). Since there still are bugs, I'm glad they're being worked on, but I am curious if these bugs are present in the other Galaxy S2 phones and if not, what could be causing it.
Since this hasn't posted yet. Epic Fail Sprint. At least there doing something to fix our sucky service. Here's link

agreed. I don't think this is an epic fail at all. It seems like there is a 26 day turn around time from testing to roll-out. If anything remains consistent, I'm hoping we see jelly bean sometime mid august.

I can see why people are ungrateful.
First "fix" is developer speak for, "we are tweaking the visuals on your signal bars without actually doing anything helpful."
Second one is to support a Sprint app that I am sure is pay-for.
Last one is a simple toggle preference which I believe is nothing more than a build.prop edit.
Lets not forget what they aren't telling you: That local search will be gimped.
Yeah, I would be pissed and ungrateful too.

Is it really an update? RSSI indicator mod? That is not fixing any type of signal for your phone. It just sounds like a graphic fix to make you feel better.
Wi-fi and LTE defaulted on. I guess this is for the people who do not know they needed to turn it on. Now it will turn automatically once updated. Thing is, unless you are one of the 6 people to be in an LTE market will this really effect you? Bottom line is they need to gimp search and they are probably pressured to do it in a timely fashion. If not for that, you would not be seeing an update.
This is on update that Sprint can have first over Verizon. I will keep my search for now, thank you!
Its a epic fail because of the Be they feed you to update so they can fix some things with out you knowing. How are they not able to just say were going to take search off and give you some pretty lights for signal bars. How does it effect me. I'm with everyone else who thought they were buying pure Google phone. I keep lte off because I don't live in a lte area.
So like he said ^^^ how would this update have anything to do with me.

I thought coming fro. T-Mobile Sprint was going to be the **** unlimited data (o yea!) Cheaper and I get a dope ass phone. ( phone is ****ing sexy). But cmon sprint IDC for 4.1 now I just wanna go outside and search the web with my unlimited data at speeds faster then it takes a snail to cross the finish line. And I understand there setting up lte. How long do you think theyll keep it unlimited once the get lte up and running.
Back to topic for those that want to update do you just flash back your bak up off stock and update or do u need to something else.

IMO, It really doesn't matter! I have used JB and ICS on my phone, and other than Google Now, I don't see the need to update to JB.
I look at it like this... the standard consumer is not rooted. The OEM and carrier have to smooth out bugs, and make the transition from ICS -> JB a seemless integration. This makes for a better customer experience.
Thats the business man... why release a sub par product and have thousands of support tickets for small minor issues.
From your sig, you're running JB already.
Pretty depressing if you ask me. God if the new nexus phone wasn't being made by LG I'd probably be all over that thing at this point.

Telus' S3 will get JB before the end of November, so I'm thinking we should be very close by.
Full application of project butter in an official release of jb will be worth it. Only reason my nexus is still stock is that the only rom on the s3 that comes close to matching its fluidity, for me at least, is tasks aokp. It's night, and day. Slow rollouts of software are just one of those burdens of this era in development. Fortunately, the software is beginning to be more, and more worth it. Someday you'll lecture your grandkids on how we didn't have all this fancy "cognitive request firmware updates, and 5tb/second data speeds" lol

I know what you're saying tho... I always look at devs like the CM team who have already put out updates way before the OEM and think... how come a billion dollar company is so slow?

By the time we even get Android 4.1, Android 4.2 will already be out in the market.
First, 4.2 will not be key lime pie.
Second, its not Samsungs fault, its the carriers.
And being the carriers fault - you have to wonder. Do they each only have like 2 people working on the Updates...or wtf. lol

Because when there is a bug in CM, they can go *shrug*, we'll add it to the known issues list, like the bluetooth audio not working right. When there is a bug in a carrier supplied ROM, think of all the people that are going to want to call AT&T and be like 'Hey this isn't working, FIX IT!'. That costs money to pay the customer service people and it costs money from a PR point of view.
The carriers strive to make things as bug free as possible (which, is laughable considering some of the updates some carriers have pushed out, or even the state of a phone at release *cough*G2x*cough*). If they don't do super extensive testing on everything BEFORE the release, they're going to have to do the same testing AFTER the release, but after it costs them money in customer service and PR image.
It sucks that another manufacturer/carrier is delaying the update. Do we buy a phone on the promise/hope we will see the next update? I don't. "Why am I not getting update XX" seems to be a common complaint. I came from the Atrix 2. Motorola promissed ICS and an unlockable bootloader. The phone is now borderline if not already end of life with At&t and is just getting the ICS update and still a locked bootloader. I bought my GSIII with the thought "cool I will get JB" but didn't care when. With all of the leaks available, if you want JB, you can get it. Seeing some of the bugs in the leaks, do you really want that to be your update? If you got the update and had these bugs, thered posts of "how could they release this buggy version?" Don't get me wrong, I would like to see manufactures and carriers stand by their word, but I realize there are more important things to worry about than why my update is delayed or not getting it. If you want a phone that guarantees you'll see an update, get a ,cough cough, Iphone. Not all features may work but hey, you'll get your update. My one and a half cents and a THANKS to the hard working devs that bring us these leaks and roms (FOR FREE) to satisfy our need to update. YOU GUYS ROCK!
This phone is awesome straight out of the box. I'm just a flash junkie and I love new shiny stuff. I wonder if there's a support group for flash addicts?

Well and doing carrier certification. I think that's more of what ends up taking a long time than updating any carrier add-on software.
Sprint is receiving their OTA to JB starting today. So I'm sure we're not too far behind.

this sucks but never a problem with custom roms and Samsung is the easiest to update.
I'm new to Android, so maybe that makes me naive. But, I'd like to bring up a few points:
1) How do you know JB for the AT&T GS3 is delayed until 2013? No one has given a release date. Heck, it might be 2014 or 2015. It's misleading to post a title like that.
2) "Coming months:" this ambiguity goes both ways. Sprint released their GS3 JB OTA update today.
3) AT&T is taking long to update their bloatware?! There are three stupid apps: AT&T Hotspots, AT&T Messages, and AT&T Navigator. AND AT&T's already released the Note 2, which comes with Jelly Bean. Thus, these apps have already been updated to work with Jelly Bean!
The holdup on AT&T's part is something else...

It'll happen just like it did last time. First it goes to the HSPA version, then CDMA gets a port.
Oh hai! You must be new here.
There could very well be a GSM port available at the end of today, depending on how devs feel today. This is what happened with 4.1 for the Verizon Gnex, the GSM version came out, and maybe 12 hours later, a dev ported it to the Verizon Gnex. :good:
Thank you for the feedback.. yes I am new I know I'm like a year late but I recently picked up a Verizon galaxy nexus, and with all this stuff releasing today
