Terminal Emulator kernel flashing? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I've been looking everywhere for a way to flash a kernel using the Terminal Emulator. Problem is, I can't find anything about it.
Either Im blind or its impossible:S
Anyone know if it is possible?
Edit: Just found this : http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/477917-flashing-recovery-terminal-emulator.html
Its on the Motorola Triumph forum but Im curious as to whether this would work

[Q]What to do next?

Hey all sorry for the stupid question but I have a r800at and its unlocked, rooted, and I've got dooms kernel loaded no problem (this phone OCs to 1.9 stable it's nuts lol). When I try to flash zeros ROM but every time I flash it in recovery when it reboots I have no launcher to cell signal and the buttons don't work. I've tried 4 times with no luck. I get the idea that I can boot directly from dooms kernel into recovery but I'm not sure how, I still plug it in to the computer. Anyone have done insight in what the deal is? Thanks for any info anyone has.

It might be that zerojay's rom is not compatable with your device. If i remember correctly he has a R800i and there might be some slight differences between *i* and *at* models in the framework that makes it not work on *at* play's?

You might want to ask in zerojay's thread if you haven't already

Ok cool I was just looking at that actually. When you did flash tool did you get to pick the play as the device because all I get is x10 or the mini. Also another stupid question, how do you get into flash mode on the play? Is it still back button and plug it in? Thanks!

Yeah turn off phone and then back button and usb.
If you're using flashtool 0.2.9.1 (beta) there should only be one flashtool.exe to choose (x10FlashTool.exe). If you plug it in while on you'll get multiple choises of phones to pick from while in flashtool window.
If you need more info on how to use flashtool here's a link to a small tut i wrote:

Rooted R800x 2.3.3 looking for working metamorph themes

Looking for working 2.3.3 metamorph themes or an easier way to change thing such as the yellow load bars and stuff. Not really wanting to install a custom rom. Before I get flamed, I have searched, but searching over 100 pages is a little much and the quick search pulled up nothing either new to root, don't have pc access.
That's why I rooted my phone so I world be able to modify files without a computer.

Go to UOT Kitchen to customize a theme (you MUST upload your framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk and you MUST have access to a PC and CWM to flash the.zip file AFAIK) and install it. AFAIK there is no current way to change the color of the selected menu items (orange on stock) when navigating with the dpad without editing the apk manually and doing crap I have no idea how to do, just so you know.
I read somewhere on one of the topics here that cwm doesn't work on the r800x, it isn't supported or something

but what if i have issues with fastboot ? i get kicked out of fastboot USB all the time... drivers aren't working for me .. im on w8 64 bit ( Licensed ! )
so i cant use fastboot commands ... :/
could have mentioned that...
anyway there are loads of threads explaining how to get fastboot and adb working on windows 8, or you can also dual boot linux or run a vm
but if you dont like all that you can still do it i think, within hboot and also using a terminal emulator just follow the same stuff.
just need to downgrade radio (just guessing what radio you have as you never posted it) by putting the radio.img in a pc10img.zip and flashing via hboot or possibly just use one of the stock roms he has there may be easiest
then follow the adb commands form nipqers thread only in a terminal emulator

[Q] What is the easiest way to back up imei for a custom rom?

I am a super newbie please show me how to back up my imei for a custom rom =[ Thanks!
Use andromizer from the play store.. Since when is being a noob an excuse to not use search?

In a nicer way, instead putting yourself out there for a lashing... Just read up next time. You're not the first person to ever wonder how to backup your IMEI, after the phone being out for close to a year.
Thanks! Has anyone successfully restored their imei using the andromizer app? i tried searching, but i cant find a post about anyone using it successfully..
I've read the comments in the play store and some have confirmed, I trust it. If it fails you can restore using the method in the Dev thread. Or just use that thread. NV restore Thread or something.
Why don't people use this method anymore?
su
reboot nvbackup

They have no clue what Terminal Emulator is or ADB lol. I used to use both constantly with my older phones, but now it is almost never spoken of because of what's available. The same reason most of the world will eat out instead of cooking for them selves, just how it is. Not that I support any of that.

Is rooting using phone terminal possible?

Is it possible to root the sprint gnex using a android terminal? I can't seem to get the universal root method to work using ubuntu. I am still a Linux newb so that is more likely the cause.
no.
rooting every nexus device is essentially the same thing
unlock bootloader
flash or boot custom recovery
install superSU.zip or use TWRP with built in rooting capability...
you cant use android terminal for it, you need to use a computer....its not difficult
To root using the phone terminal you would need... root access. It's like saying "Can I get to the key behidn this door by using the key behind the door?"
Maybe from another phone as the host, haha.

I installed shiny Rom which isn't pre rooted. The superuser app on the market has a link to a flashable zip file on their website. That's what worked for me when I didn't have access to my pc to do it via abd.
