[Q] Kindle Fire Really bricked

Please, please, really, help me out. My kindle fire is bricked, I tried Unbrick tool and a lot of other things, like installing again the drivers, the sdk, but nothing works at all!!
Here is the thing: When I was rooting my Kindle, my building got a blackout during the root process, and when the light goes on, my kindle was stucked on "Kindle Fire" logo. When I use adb devices, nothing shows. When I connect to Windows, it shows as a Unknown device, and when I try to install adb composite, it give a message saying that the driver android_winusb is not compatible with the hardware connected to USB. So, I can now really use this brand new Kindle Fire as a brick? I bought it on june 06 2012 !!!!!! Please, help me with this.. please..

I was in the same place yesterday
Uninstall the unknown usb driver
Unplug kindle from usb
Reboot pc
Install drivers from kindle fire utility using the install_drivers bat
Plug kindle in, should recognize as adb device (if it shows up as a kindle uninstall those and reboot)
You may need to use kfu to get into normal bootmode if stuck in fastbook onc the drivers are set

Stuck in Kindle Fire logo mostly means your your KF is in fast boot mode. Try unplug your KF, get the latest KFU and reinstall drivers, reboot pc and reconnect KF.
Open KFU and select normal boot mode.

Thank you for the answers, but it is still not working. I did everything you told me, but its not working. My Windows 7 set the device as unknown. When I set it to normal boot mode, the program starts to wait for the device that is already pluged in.

What else can I do? I have tried on Mac, on Linux and Windows, but its not working in any of these systems.

First figure out where it's getting stuck in the boot process. If the bootlogo appears on the display and stays that way without ever blacking out, then it's in fastboot mode.

If it does go black before showing the bootlogo again, then it's no longer in fastboot mode and its trying to boot into something. In this case, you'll have to hope that it's getting far enough into the boot process that it can accept adb commands from your computer.
Either way, you'll have to make sure the drivers are working properly.

The second one covers drivers, but the first 3 posts in general should be helpful to you. If it's not in fastboot mode and you can't get it to execute adb commands, you can either get a factory cable or open up the back cover on the device and use Firekit.

[Q] Problems with FFF & KFU. Device not recognized

Hello-
Quick background. I have a Kindle Fire with the CM9-Reloaded ROM installed. All was going well for a few weeks until my Kindle stopped connecting to the internet. I figured it was just a bug and wanted to reinstall the ROM or choose a different one.
I have FFF v1.4 (with the blue logo) installed. When I get to the screen that allows me to choose "Normal Boot", "Recovery", or "Reset Boot Mode" I choose the "Recovery" to go into TWRP; however, this doesn't happen. It puts me back into a loop to the same screen to choose again. I can do this over and over again and I'm still not able to get into recovery to get to TWRP.
I decided to see if I could use the Kindle Fire Utility to get to TWPR that way. Before everyone asks, my drivers are all updated and functioning properly. I uninstalled and reinstalled just to double check. When the Kindle is plugged in, I can go to the device manager and see my Kindle there. The problem is that KFU says I'm offline and I can get to any of the menus. When I plug in my Kindle I do get the little "bong" that tells me my computer recognized it.
Also, went to my laptop and downloaded the KFU and installed everything. Same result as with my desktop.
What else can I try? I have a factory cable, but I really don't know much about how to use it. I simply followed step by step instructions to root this when I originally got it. Any suggestions? I'd really just like to put this Kindle back to stock, re-root, and try it all over again to eliminate any potential issues in the future. Thanks in advance for your help.

Does "adb reboot recovery" not work from within the ROM either? You can try to reflash TWRP from fastboot, if you're feeling brave enough. Double check the hash first, though.

i am in need of dire help working on sister's inlaw kindle fire
i got the KFU newest one and verified the kindle was the newest version software
i started the KFU i must of missed a step and the kindle fire is locked on loadscreen (kindle fire) a soft brick i got the program that u say try and the system will not be found by it
i have removed and reinstalled the Adb rebooted my system and hard reboot kindle........the computer sees the kindle but not as kindle..........in device manger it shows up under the ADB section not the portable..........i only see the ADB there is no kindle hardware tab in windows explorer it is not listed
but it is listed in devices and printers under unspecified with the name kindle in there........... i can not access any info in the tab it list the name as kindle the rest are blank
please help i have no idea what to do on this one.........it is locked on the screen and i can not get the system to fully talk with each other to correct it using the methods u have posted
**note i went to a 2nd computer that has never had kindle or any ADB or any other program dealing with this the system is giving the same results as stated above the system sees it but does not know what it is ...thought it might be a overlapping driver issue on my computer
side note i am kind of poor and really do not have 200 bucks to buy a new one for her i have a week to fix with out getting caught help please

No, adb reboot recovery doesn't work. How would I reflash TWRP from fastboot? I'm definitely a rookie at cmd work.

By it not working, do you mean that it reboots normally?
"fastboot getvar product" to get the KF to stick with fastboot mode when it's loading the bootloader.
"fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" very important to double check the file hash to make sure it's not corrupt.
"fastboot reboot" only in case it doesn't automatically reboot on its own.
EDIT: Keep in mind fastboot mode uses a different set of drivers, so you may have to install those as well (included in KFU, along the ADB ones).

[Q] Non-rooted Kindle HD 8.9 not found in device manager

Hello, I have a stock Kindle HD 8.9 from best buy that seems to have seized up. It's not rooted, I was hoping I might be able to root it to bring it back to life.
When I turn on the kindle it stops at the kindle fire logo and looks like the logo is being lit up by a light streak that scrolls across the logo. This repeats until the battery dies.
When I plug the kindle the computer via USB, the computer makes a single noise that sounds like it is trying to find the device and then Windows attempts to find drivers. Windows then errors out and says the device driver cannot be found.
If I look in the device manager I do not see any Kindle devices. If I show hidden devices I can see JEM-PVT-Prod-04 in a faint gray color with a grey question mark next to it. Through downloading and installing USB drivers found on this site I was able at one time to get this to change to Android USB device. It never changed from the faint gray color. I uninstalled the drivers and restarted since updating the drivers did not seem to address the issue. I have seen mentions in many threads about yellow triangles but I have never seen that.
I believe read on the FAQ that if there is some indication of power or booting, then the device might be able to be recovered. I'm just not seeming to have any luck with getting it to respond to the PC.
The computer is Windows 7 64bit.
I read on amazon's developer site that ADB must be enabled on the kindle before rooting. Since the kindle will not boot, I can not confirm whether it is enabled or not. I presume this is a crucial step, but I felt I should double check with others who are more knowledgeable.

Ah good you are able to install the drivers, that's good, leave those installed, in your case you are not wanting adb access you are wanting fastboot access to fix it, that adb interface that briefly appears is actually fastboot, so with the drivers installed you will need a copy of a utility that comes with fastboot, i recommend kindle fire first aid, open a command prompt and cd to the directory where the fastboot program is, and with is and with the device off and unpluggedt run

once the command prompt says "waiting for device", plug the kindle in, it should now go into fastboot mode and say fastboot on the screen. Now use kindle fire first aid to restore the kindle.

Stunts, thank you for the help. I had thought in my reading that the fastboot command above was only used after the android device was visible in the device driver. It appears that the fastboot command "forces" the device to become visible, if I understand correctly. The device was listed in the device manger in full color rather than the faint gray that it was before.
I found the Kindle Fire First Aid and ran that, there was a helpful link in the FAQ. When I ran the First Aid, I choose the Kindle 8.9 and the first version as I do not know what version number was on the device to begin with. The First Aid ran through its procedures and the Kindle rebooted. I seem to have a working device now.
I can't remember where, but I thought I saw something In one thread about a patch that should be applied after rebuilding the Kindle but before connecting to the Internet with it.

Am I ok to continue with the device or should I be doing some cleanup/final fixing before using it normally?

it should be fine to use now, that's just stock rooted, you might wanna consider disabling ota's or flashing another rom onto it but its fine how it is.

Help! Possibly bricked Kindle Fire HD 8.9

I think I've just bricked brand new Kindle Fire HD 8.9 :/
So, I'm new in rooting and I tried to install custom rom Cyanogen Mod 10.1 following the instructions from there: http://rootkindlefire.com/kindle-fi...-kindle-fire-hd-8-9-into-pure-android-tablet/ .
After rooting Kindle, installing 2nd bootloader and TWRP my Kindle rebooted. It showed up Kindle Fire logo, first yellow then blue one. But after that nothing happened, it stucked at booting. So I entered to recovery mode by holding down volume up button and because of my stupidity I thought backing up system and restoring it will get me able to enter to original Amazon's system. After restoring system and rebooting worse thing happened. Logo while booting didn't turn from yellow to blue, it just stucked in yellow logo like it freezed. Now I can't enter anywhere in my Kindle, even in recovery mode and after plugging Kindle to PC through USB cable PC doesn't see Kindle. I think maybe using fastboot cable will help but I'm not sure about that, so I'm asking You: Is there anything I can do to restore my Kindle? And the fastboot cable will work with this software: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011126?

OK good news, you don't need a fastboot cable, in fact they don't even work on 8.9" models. The only problem is if you never have put the device in fastboot before while plugged into windows you are going to have a fun time trying to install the drivers... More or less plug the device is while it is off and have the device manager open already, you should see a jem device with a yellow triangle pop up for a moment, this is what you have to do, download the drivers in my signature and extract them somewhere. Now when that device pops up briefly, right click it, hit update drivers, and point it to where you extracted my drivers. If you can successfully complete this step the rest is easy, you just need to download a utility, like the one you asked if it would fix it(the answer is yes BTW). Extract the utility from its' zip file, hold shift and right click the folder that was extracted and hit "open command window here". Now with the device turned off and unplugged type this

hey i cannot kind a download for this tool anywere i screwedup my bootloader and recovery img.. now i need help my device only recognized for 3 seconds.
then loop loop and stock recovery mode which dont work.
plz help pm me a link or anything. ugh i bricked this uggh

Download kindle fire first aid or system restore tool, they come with fastboot and adb.

Here is a tutorial that will show you how to install a 2nd bootloader and TWRP recovery.
2nd bootloader/TWRP install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128175
Then choose a ROM made for the 8.9 Kindle Fire HD only and flash it.
If you wish to go stock then flashing the appropriate images in fastboot will be your plan. This requires setting up some SDK tools in your environment.

KFFA is another option as well.

Kindle Fire HD 8.9 Bricked
Can someone please provide me with some information. I tried to update the recovery for my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 running on cm10.2 using flashify which I found out now was a very lazy and dumb thing to do. Now my device is bricked its stuck at the white and orange kindle logo, my computer only recognize it for a split second and I can't boot into recovery.
My question to the experience members is if my device is done for or can the factory cable restore it? I tried creating one but it didn't get my device into fastboot mode and I also heard that it isn't compatible with the 8.9 series, I would like to know how true this is.

You don't use a fastboot cable with a 8.9. It should when plugged in while off show up for a brief moment as a jem device. In this brief moment you must have the device manager open and right click the jem device hit update drivers and point it to where you would have downloaded and extracted the drivers in my signature. Once you manage to get the drivers installed shut off the kindle and open a command prompt that's CD'd into the directory of the fastboot command and run

it should say waiting for device, at this point plug the kindle in with a normal cable and it should go into fastboot. I recommend a ubuntu live CD for this procedure because you don't have to deal with the driver issue, instead you just have to install the fastboot binary from the repo but it is fairly easy.

It flashes the words "kindle fire" for 14 seconds then goes dark and won't to anything else. I tried holding in the power button for 20; 30;40;60 seconds and that whole thing. I tested the charge in the battery. I'm past the easy fixes.
I'm at the point Kemoid was at above, ready to throw my Kindle Fire away and buy a new one.

Your in a bootloop. Just use the factory restore tool for the 8.9 and your USB cord.

I'm thinkin your kernel is messed up, probably just needs reflashing, I agree with LinearEquation, you just need to use the system restore tool or kffa and it should reflash that, if you can get into fastboot though you might need to wipe your boot partition. Try the SRT first though.

Before, i rooted and install TWRP . But, I install stock rom form amazon ( 8.5.1) and after, I update superuser and restart it. red screen appear. And now, I try anything to unbrick but nothing change.

KFU failed, kindle bricked, help please!

I never rooted a device before and I have been wanting to access google play on my kindle. Earlier today I discovered KFU. The first thing I did with it was the root option. After a few reboots, KFU said "waiting for device" and nothing else happened. Also my computer no longer recognizes my kindle fire. What should I do?

Yes, I have a first gen kindle fire.
I kept on getting a corrupted KFU zip when I downloaded it. I thought I fixed it when a use a zip fixer tool.
I got the KFU from the guild from this forum.
All the version I download had the same problem when unzipping, corruption.
I am a noob at this since I never done this before, I wan to make this clear, so don't assume much when responding please.
I have eclipse and I have downloaded all the necessary files from the SDK manager and more since I use eclipse for college.
My computer uses windows 8.
I have a windows 7 vm.
I used the KFU on windows 8, I now realized I should have done it on the vm.
Before I tried to root it, I made a backuped all the files located within it.
Almost forgot to mention that it no longer goes past the kindle fire logo when I restart it.
I don't know if this is enough information, so feel free to ask anything.

what do you use to backup your files?
did you try to restore your device using your backup files?

I backed them in in my documents, and since I can't access my kindle due to it not being able to start up all the way, I can't restore them.

open device manager (start menu>control panel>hardware>device manager) with kindle powered on and connected to pc, look for kindle< douple click on it, select drivers tab, click on uninstall< check uninstall driver, ok

when downloading android files, you should verify md5 checksum see my https://sites.google.com/site/sdshadowscollection/home/hash-checksums
Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.9.zip = MD5 Sum: a20011995d115c3b2d66dcc92303031e
or use the Mega link mega will verify the file for you.

that makes it more difficult, probably because you repaired the KFU zip
try fixing drivers, then try
redownload KFU from the Mega link
connect Kindle
run KFU's run.bat
select install twrp
if nothing happens, may need to power down kindle, and power back on
may need to restart KFU a few times
if that does not work
may need to use fastboot manually see my Fastboot.exe with Windows Command Prompt

did you try to open your kindle by pressing your power button for about 15 - 20 sec.?
for your Kindle Fire Utility problem i think you need to ask that to their thread

You didn't listen to me. My kindle won't connect to the computer any more since it can't finish booting. Meaning I can't install anything on it. The kindle drivers are fine. The kindle is half rooted due to the rooting fail.

It's just the normal start up logo. Kindle is in white, and fire is in orange.

I know what I need to do now. I need to get a factory fastboot cable. That will allow me to access my kindle and fix the problems I have. Thank you for trying to help though.

i think its soft bricked your problem MAYBE is bootloop one of the common problem when rooting..
