Sprint replacement? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ok sprint sent me a replacement because I was having speaker problems I wanted to know if could keep the battery from my old device?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

If Sprint sent you the replacement, I believe you need to send your old phone back to Sprint. If you do not send the battery, they will charge you the missing part. If you are lucky, it would not happen but Battery is a big noticeable part if it's not there.
Good Luck!
(Buying extra battery would be much cheaper from the market if Sprint charge you the cost of battery)

DO NOT send your battery in. It says or use to say on the return packaging not to. I have never sent mine in.

Yes if you get a refurb, you only get the phone even if its from sprint. I even got a new device from insurance and only sent phone, no battery or charger.

If they do not send the battery, the deal is over!
thanks!

I replaced mine for a refurb at the store and I just kept my old battery so I'm assuming if they send it to you that it's the same for refurbs, new phones include everything. For the people who want more batteries, I simply called sprint and said my battery was getting horrible life and they sent me a new one at no cost and didn't even want the old one back. Now I have two

My phone needs repair?

My touchscreen is horribly acting up...I have bestbuy's $10 monthly insurance. Anyways, when I type, it registers multiple touches and makes my swype type words that I don't want. If this a hardware or software issue? The touchscreen is also not as accurate either.
I was on ec05 and running ext4, midnight rom v5.2, bonsai 4.0.4 kernel (I think). I also flashed blue mattel theme, incase that matters. Its also not just swype, when I hold my finger down on threads, the screen shakes as if I am constantly moving my finger, but im not.
I flashed reRFS stock and it semmed to help, but only to an extent.

Did you try ODIN? If ODIN doesn't fix it then it confirms that it is indeed a hardware issue.

My wifes epic got messed up and she too has the bestbuy $10 insurance.... trust me, they don't care what ROM you have but your in for a treat:
* Rapid exchange only quilifies for the iphone and blackberry.
* They will have to ship your phone out** and wait till they can "repair" it.
** the first time we shipped it, it took 1 month to come back. When we tested the phone in store, nothing we told them to fix was fixed and their response to that is "we have to ship it out again..." its been 15 days now (almost 2 months in total) and even as they said that they would "expedite" no news....

Best Buy insurance will replace it with a new phone no charge. Sprint TEP will replace it with a refurb for $100. If you have no insurance they may be able to replace the screen for $35. Cracked screens are considered user damaged not a warranty type item.

Maybe Best Buy will get there one day...they just started the Rapid Exchange program. But they do at least get you a new phone not refurb and so far average time is a day or two. BUT they do not cover lost or stolen phones like TEP. I think I am going back to TEP on my next phone since I doubt they will let me switch back.

Probably not, just sounds bricked...what happened before this?
Plugging it into the charger if it doesn't turn on likely wouldn't do any good, as the phone technically needs to be "on" to charge the battery correctly. Even when off, the phone is still in a pseudo-on mode when plugged in.

Unfortunately, though, our M&P regarding rooted and ROMed phones has changed recently, and we do now have to cover hard bricks (provided they're not caused by liquid, physical damage, etc.). Doesn't make sense...but it is what it is.

If you have the blue light of death and can't get into Download Mode or Recovery, then you can just go to a Sprint store and pay $35 to get a replacement, even if you don't have TEP. This is what I did when I was hit with the emmc superbrick bug back in February. They will probably give you a refurb though. Sometimes the techs can be uptight though so it may help to act dumb and claim you were accepting the FF18 OTA update when something happened to your phone.

lol wow okay most people learn from their mistakes. Doesn't matter what the tep covers you still pay hard earned money for it.. i'm a tech as well and yeah very rarely i reject exchange requests when I know the phone was bricked because of flashing. If it's at the end of the month i'll maybe reject it because of my AE rate but beginning of the month i'll help happily And you educate urself more after these silly mistakes. Sprint makes way more than enough money from new acts, so considering the cost for insurance, shouldnt be a problem. Deductibles and insurance cost is going up anyways for these new phones with a higher retail price of $550 and thats BS.

Did you have to pay the $100 or whatever the cost of the deductible is?
Ever since I flashed agats 0.6.2 kernel my battery icon blinks. An even after unplugging the phone it still says its charging. Even if I take the battery out for hours today and put it back in it says charging on the lock screen and if I try to turn on adb it says please unplug usb cord. If it's the same problem, I think it has to do with the charging circuits. My battery charged fine on an external charger. In fact at the Sprint store the were going to give me the old battery in my new refurb. Told them I didn't want it if there was a possibility the voltage protection was going bad, might have shortened its life.

T-mobile GS3 Warranty Replacements on Backorder

So Sunday my GS3 died out the blue. It was fine, then suddenly it turned itself off and then wouldn't go pass the boot screen. I call T-mobile and they say the phone is on backorder so I'll have to wait to get another one. Today I get a text message saying "The replacement device for your warranty exchange order is out of stock. A complete kit with a similar device or better value is being sent in its place. Your delivery may be delayed up to 48 hours".
Does that mean they are sending me a brand new gs3 or a completely different phone? I doubt they'd upgrade me to a gs4 right? I'm only worried because the last time I had issues with a warranty replacement from T-mobile, their idea of a equal value was to replace my Blackberry with a Nokia, which I refused.

Well originally they were on back order so I got a message saying they were sending me a brand new in box phone. It came with all the accessories and everything that a new phone has. But it acted like a refurb. Didn't charge correctly. First thought it was the battery but they sent me a new one and that didnt help so they sent me another phone. This one came like the refurbs do..with just the phone, no battery or back.
I just had to use my extended warranty from t-mobile (Asurion is the company I made the claim with) last week. I received a brand new T-999L to replace my T999. I'm loving the speed of the LTE and did root using odin to the stock rom. I'm not too keen on going further though after reading how all the roms on here don't fully support the t99L, reading how they might work or require patching but may not work at LTE speeds is reason enough to just keep the phone as is for now.

Bluetooth problems

I have problems with my bluetooth headphones. It will connect and I can hear music for about 1 minute then it stops, my phone becomes unresponsive then it will usually reboot but get stuck. I usually have to pull the battery to restart.
I'm curious if there is something that I have flashed in the past to cause this.
The headphones work fine on my wifes 4g touch and my galaxy tablet as well.
I've even unrooted and went back to stock but still no luck.

Make sure all the screws in the back of the phone are very tight. If one is loose you may have a bad antenna connection.
I checked all the screws, they are all tight.

I'm wondering if I were to switch the motherboard out with a phone that has a bad ESN will that affect this phone?

The ESN follows the board unless you were to do that which we do not talk about on this board...
Hint
Hint.
Interesting, I didnt have that in mind, but may be worth a try. I saw some cheap S2's on ebay with bad ESN's. I'm just interested in getting my bluetooth working. I removed my motherboard last night just to see if I could see anything work visually. I already sent my phone to Samsung but they said it was OOW for having a cracked screen. The wanted to charge $160 to fix it.

You can get used E4GTs all day long for under $100 in good condition on Craigslist where I am. I usually see them running $50-$75, but I paid $30 for the last one I bought.
I would suggest buying a new one, and selling the defective one on eBay for parts. If the shell is in fair condition someone will buy it.
The other option, if you are not under contract, is to consider an upgrade to the s4. I have seen some $0-$50 prices so far this holiday season.
