Needs way to quickly access my posts and threads. - About xda-developers.com

There is no easy way to access my posts in different threads and my own threads. I have to go control panel and then look for my posts there.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a quick link to my posts and threads under 'QUICK LINKS'

That would be nice, but in the meantime just bookmark the page.

Or use tapatalk and use the 'participated' tab

Click your user name on the upper right. Then click the "Statistics" tab. There are quick links to posts you made and to threads you started. Also there is a link to posts where you were thanked.

Thank you for ur reply. Ya, I knew about thaose links but isn't it quite hidden (as for regular use)?
It can be made more accessible than at present. I find those links quite useful. Easy to keep track of threads I post in (if at all).

[Q] Subscribe to posts by thread OP only?

Hi there,
Most kernels or ROMs have a high-traffic thread with lots of people sharing their experience etc.
Every once in a while, the OP chimes in with an updated version of the ROM, or a bugfix etc.
I would like to keep up to date only with posts by the OP, to keep updates down to a manageable volume. I don't want an RSS feed of all new posts in the thread, but only those by the OP.
Is there a way to get such a feed? Or another way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?
Thank you in advance.
Bump
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
There's no way to do it.
The only way that's close to seeing the OPs updates is to view the Most Thanked widget whilst on the desktop.
It highlights the posts which have received the most thanks, which is to make it easier to find the main information and updates.
I really like the idea! Would be extremely useful for a couple threads of mine.

Has been recently suggested and the_scotsman is passing on this idea to mod committee.

Isnt it possible by doing advanced search and providing op's username in posts made by "text box"?
As we have search this thread option in xda2013 theme version.. i dont know about other versions..
hit thanks button! If above post helps you..

I've been working on creating RSS feeds of XDA threads. Your request seems like a excellent improvement on what I have at the moment.
The current implementation will generate a RSS feed of the last three pages of any XDA thread. You can see the RSS of this thread here:
http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_id=a41f01f197a7b89b1fcf6b72b3964a9a&_render=rss&t=1200001
If you're only interested in posts by the user "ezuk" you can filter the messages. To see only messages by "ezuk" or messages that quote "ezuk", add "&match=ezuk" to the URL.
http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.r...6b72b3964a9a&_render=rss&t=1200001&match=ezuk
Interested? You can read more about the implementation here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975124
Wow, that's pretty cool! Any way to match only messages by "ezuk" (without ones that quote "ezuk")?

In the RSS feed, posts have the name of the author as title. So it will be no problem to distinguish posts by "ezuk" from posts from other members. Give it a try, and I think you'll see that the simple solution is probably good enough for you.
If you want to filter even more, you could use:
http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_id=a41f01f197a7b89b1fcf6b72b3964a9a&_render=rss&t=1200001&match=posterName[^>]*>ezuk<
but that's not very intuitive.
Thank you, that helps!

Tidying-up/over-hauling the stickies etc

Over the next few days, I'm going to do a bit of tidying up in the various Defy sections.
The first part of that involves a new sticky in each section clearly stating what that section is for, what threads are or are not appropriate (ie no questions in the Dev section).
Hopefully this'll help cut down on the number of threads that need moving.
The proposed second part I would like some feedback on...
The act of stickying certain threads/guides/etc I've always found a little hit-and-miss and can inadvertently lead to unintended favouritism, not to mention you can eventually end up with a ridiculous number of threads stickied.
So the idea I had was that in the General and Dev sections (the two that currently have stickied threads), those threads would be un-stickied and replaced with a roll-up thread - kinda like this except there would be no other threads stickied along with it (other than the one mentioned in the first part that would explain the purpose of the section).
It's just a way of trying to keep the section as tidy as possible, though it's not the messiest, which is why I'm not 100% set on going ahead and would prefer to hear what people think.
A little clean up is a good idea.
I'm for a main roll-up thread in every section, that way the useful guides/infos will be easier to find/edit.

Best thing for now is to report the thread for maintance/moving that's what i have been doing with the dev section
Thanks again Step666 for cleaning up the ones i reported...... +1 on the rollup thread thread it makes things a lot easier for new users as they can find everything in one thread.
support the idea fully (both), but have to ask for something: to always keep that one stickied thread up-to-date, otherwise it has no sense. and the thread you linked didnt mention the 'all-in-one defy beginners guide' which i find very useful for everybody, so i think that should be involved too. and thanks for looking after the defy section, it did get quite messy over the last few weeks, months.

Is it possible to have two xda members governing one same thread? It would be best to keep a thread up to date if two people where allowed to edit the OP. Could it be possible?

It would list all the current guides that are to be found in our Defy forums at the moment
Voted for the roll-up thread. What suggestions could we have about it? Like, which threads should be included?
I hate it when someone quotes the OP's post after 20-30 pages only to ask a question whose answer was in the previously 20-30 unread pages. Also, when someone quotes a really LONG post only to add a short answer/joke/offtopic question or a smiley and an encouragement.

Similar to the one I linked-to, with a series of links to useful guides etc - except I'd probably go a step further and include a short description of what each thread contained.
There'd be one in this section and one in the Dev section.

I agree.
And that's where I'd need your help - whilst I own a Defy my primary handset now is my Galaxy Nexus, so I'm just not as clued up on things here as the rest of you.
So whilst I'd do my best to keep it updated, if there was a thread you felt was missing from the roll-up, then you'd be best to PM me and I could add it.

Unfortunately, there's no way to force people to pay attention/follow the rules/behave like vaguely-competent individuals.
So all we can do is react to people who have posted in the wrong section.

No, unfortunately the forum software doesn't allow for that.
I guess an alternative would be to have the 'roll-up' lists in the Defy Wiki where anyone can edit them and I would just have a link to them from the one sticky in each section.

Receive notification when OP is edited.

Is there such thing as receiving a notification when the first post of the thread I am subscribed to has been edited? It would be especially helpful on the developers' subforum.
It would be nice but no there is no way to get a notification when the op is edited.

No need to worry though, because usually OPs post a reply in the thread that the first post has been edited. Like "updated to 2.1 version, please check the first post".

Unfortunately, that is caused by people posting stuff in the Dev threads that shouldn't be there. If people could actually understand what the Dev threads are for and not post cr4p in there like "Thanks" or "Why doesn't this work - I haven't bothered searching".

Looking for my posts

I feel that this is a stupid question but I registered yesterday and now I looking for the threads I posted in. Well there is only one actually as I remembered where was the one thread I opened. I thought I would be automatically subscribed to the threads I open/post in.
Is there a way to see where I posted ?
Thanks
Yeah just look in ur profile and look at posts. That should do it. That was while using app. Go up to ur control panel and click on subscribed threads. Youll see ur posts on different threads .

Please keep the good work up. You all do an amazing job on explanations.

I also struggled with this, and had to find this thread to figure it out. I would have expected to find that stuff in the settings(gear) area, would never have thought to click my own username after failing to find it in the settings area Thanks for your help!

Hello @snifing
In regards to your comment above to the Xda Moderator. You can't delete any post, but you can remove the content of that post. And from what I can see is exactly what you did here. Next time your going to make a thread with a big list of apks, please put them all in the first post for everyone to find them. Not make 17 post for all 17 apks. Makes no sense and just creates way way to much clutter! Look below at how it would look in one post...

And so...
And please have a look at the rule below.
5. Create a thread or post a message only once.
As a large forum, we don't need unnecessary clutter. You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer, revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time so it might take a while before you receive an answer.
