So I just recent received a new EVO after my last one's USB port broke, but a couple days after I got it, the screen would move around on it's own and become unresponsive. Sometimes I can't even unlock it. It stopped doing that after a while but recently the issue has come back up. Has anyone experienced this with their phone, and is there any way to fix it? Or is it another visit to Sprint for me? Thanks for the help.
water drops on my screen has caused this, also water under the edge of my case.....

Try a factory reset, it'll wipe everything from the phone and take it back to square A.
If you're rooted, try wiping everything (data, dalvik, cache) and flashing the rom over or flash a new rom.
If you're not rooted and the factory reset doesn't work, it's back to Sprint for you dude, sorry.
**edit**
water damage = you're boned. Keep it away from the water next time.
So, my super-fun Sprint day started with me calling tech support earlier, to try and fix the error 67 codes that were constantly popping up on my Evo in the last couple weeks. I never got that fixed, and was going to try updating my phone later.
Now, to the big problem: I was using one of my camera apps(either the stock camera or vignette...can't remember), when my screen went blank. Now, I've had the camera do that, then reboot the phone before, but not like this. The buttons on the bottom are lighted, but the screen itself is black. I've tried pulling the battery, and have done multiple reboots that way, to no avail. It seems to work otherwise...I was able to call it, and answer the call. If I press and hold on the screen over an icon(I have to guess where they are, of course), it makes the vibration that tells you you can move the icon. I even managed to get an app to open once(again, guessing where the icon was). If it helps, I'm running Fresh Evo 3.5.
My first question is, is there any way to fix this? And if not, is there any way to un-root the phone so I can send it in to Sprint for a replacement? I really need to get this fixed ASAP, since my doctors call me at that number. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is the screen black in recovery?
If you can see your recovery you can try to wipe if that doesn't work try a recovery
I'll try again, but so far I haven't been able to get in there. It's even black when I restart it, i.e. during the HTC and Fresh Rom loading screens.
Earlier in the day, when I was working on the error 67 problem, I updated my vision profile and PRL, then the Sprint tech first refreshed my data from that end, then tried reprovisioning the phone. I don't know if any of that would make a difference, but the phone was turned off and on a lot of times. Also, I had previously had trouble with the camera app, where after taking a picture, it would freeze on a blank screen, then restart the phone.
Thankfully, I still have my Hero, so I'm going to call Sprint and do an ESN swap so I can use that one for now. If worse comes to worst, I'll just buy a new phone, since I have an upgrade on my account, but I'm really hoping I can get the Evo fixed.
If you can get an evo and hold off on the upgrade. The evo 3d should be out by summer

yeah definitly wait for the evo 3d
Sounds like your lcd is dead, if so, theres no way the guys at sprint will be able to see that your rooted. They'll have to ship it off. And you'll get a replacement. Although the fresh boot animation has a noise doesnt it? Anyway to turn that off so the Sprint reps cant hear it if you boot up?
Yeah, the Fresh Roms says "Fresh!" when it's loading. I turned the volume down, so you can't hear that, but if one of the Sprint reps just tried turning the volume up and restarting it, then they would hear it. I don't know how much they look in to these kinds of problems before shipping it off, so maybe I'm just being paranoid. Not to mention all of my data is still on there.
And as much as I was hoping for another answer, I agree - the LCD probably died. I can't even get a replacement right now either - when I was doing the ESN swap, the rep told me they're completely out of the Evo. I'll look in to the Evo 3D, but my boyfriend and I are also just thinking about buying another Evo or the Epic for now, and getting a new LCD later and fixing it ourselves. I get an upgrade every year, so I wouldn't have to wait too terribly long if I decided I wanted the Evo 3D.
And I'm wondering if the error 67 issues are a problem with the tower, because I'm also getting them on my Hero. And, we've had problems with that tower in the past. I'll have to call Sprint tech support back later and see if I can get them to look into it.
Hmmm. Well if LCD is dead I cant help. But if it's not an LCD problem you might want to run an RUU to restore your phone. Also try letting the phone die and rebooting.
How can I run the RUU without being able to see my screen? Might be a dumb question, but I'm still pretty new to rooting.
Ok Im not new to rooting or anything ive been doing this for years now and also I worked at a cell phone repair store so this really is a problem I cannot figure out and no posts seem to hit my problem. Im on myn RL5 and never had a problem . First sign of problems was that it wouldnt charge so I got it into recovery which took great patience bcuz my phone was sooo laggy. after that I took the phone apart and made sure everything was kosher. after reassembling the phone it worked great. today my digi isnt working like it did in the beggining. I dont know if it software or hardware at this point and im about to just go get a 3d lol. anyone heard of this or know how to fix this. Thanks guys.
PS-Ive dropped my phone once.
Ho guys I recently got this phone and was working fine till today. Its not new but used. The Phone actually was working until I flashed a ROM and since then the left side of the keyboard does not work. I rebooted and went to stock sprint evo rom and still cant even start phonen with email cause the whole left side of screen letters dont work and the home button aint working like it did either. I was trying a 3.5 rom and even restored to multiple roms saved prior to all this but no luck. i think the roms was called Energy Runnymede and FEAR ME. any suggestions how to get this back. Tried multiple keyboards cant even calibrate it aint reading that side. Bummed out any suggestions guys thanks..
Sounds like a hardware problem to me

so depressed now
If the entire left side of the screen is not working then it's definitely a hardware issue. Good news is that you can fix it yourself for a fairly low price. I've never done it so I don't know much about it, but I've seen plenty of threads about replacing the screen/digitizer. Do some searching around, it shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Im going to have to agree with him it sounds like a hardware problem. And as far as fixing it yourself it is fairly easy. My suggestion though is open the phone first because HTC had this brilliant idea to make a phone that used two different flex cables. So with that being said open it and see if your phone has the small one or the big one, you dont want to order the screen and then try and fix it and the cable be the wrong size. (if you choose this path your looking for the Evo LCD and Digitizer Assembly or Evo TSP/LCD Assembly, both the same part just named differently based on where you get it from just CHECK THE FLEX CABLE size and save yourself some trouble) Or the much simplier and cheaper fix take it to s Sprint Repair center and let them look at it. As long as its not physically damaged or liquid damaged you'll be fine and they will look at it and either repair it or replace it as long as you have TEP if not should just be a $35 fee again as long as its not physical or liquid damage.
So it would seem my touch screen is dead for good. I wanted to try the latest aokp build but after it booted I couldn't select which launcher to use. I flashed back 2.3.3 with flashtool this morning but I still can only use the hardware buttons. If it weren't for the gamepad I wouldn't have been able to activate it, but it doesn't matter now.
I'm wondering if other people have had this problem if I could buy a new digitizer and fix it?
Does buying new digitizer fix it for good?
Is it easy to screw up my phone more when I open it?
Anyone try to replace parts on their xplay and notice werid bugs after closing it up?
I've had this happen be4 but flashing back to 2.3.3 fixed it, the only things I've done is unlocked the bootloader via testpoint with Aljerismo's help (sry I can't spell his name). An flash a couple roms, kinda sad and mad at the same time to have such giant hardware failure after 8-9 months of having my first android .
i have changed a digitizer about 4 times on 3 different xperia plays and noticed the proximity sensor never worked after replacing, like if i put the phone to my ear when in call the screen goes black and when i remove it from my ear its still black.

I actually find that to be annoying so I don't mind if I lose that. If I get a another phone, a new xplay to replace my broken one. Is it un-rootable or only if I don't unlock the bootloader? I'm not sure if I'm covered for a fully replacement but I should be.....
btw around 1 EST I pulled the battery to reboot again see if did any thing and it fixed it! After trying it at home this morning I got it back at school only to loose it now when I rooted it by flashing SU.
