I've been trying a bunch of different cases for my GSM Galaxy Nexus, but most of the cases seem designed for the larger CDMA Galaxy Nexus. My phone doesn't fit well in these, there's often a large gap where pocket lint and dust and whatnot tends to accumulate. The cases don't really seem to fit very securely, either.
Does anyone else here have a GSM GNex and know what cases work best for the phone? I'm looking at lowest-possible-profile cases without a lip. I just want something to make the phone easier to hold onto--it's like a bar of soap at the worst of times.
I'm using case-mate tough series for Verizon (I have a GSM GN). the volume button fits perfectly, except for the power button, But I figured out a way to work around that. Which requires absolutely no modification to the case. Besides, I'm not bothered much to the lints issue
Yeah I bought an Incipio Feather, which I loved on my old Nexus S... but the GN one is clearly designed for the fatter VZW Nexus... and doesn't fit on very securely. It's too easy to fall off.
I called the case-mate customer service, they said their Barely There case fits perfectly with GSM model. Or you can try the Otterbox case (Commuter!??) I've read a lot of reviews about 'em

Thanks for your help. I've come to discover that the Rearth Ringke Slim case also fits the GSM Nexus very securely, so I'll order some cases and see which ones I like best.
Seriously? I'm pretty sure the vast majority of cases are made for the GSM version. Afaik the only case made for the cdma version is the new renke one.

I was specifically looking for a case with no lip. I know there are many silicone and TPU cases that fit the i9250 perfectly, but I didn't want something with a lip because it fouls up by ability to use the edge of the touchscreen.
Of the cases with no lip, the only one that fits the GSM Nexus perfectly is the Qubits case I just bought off Amazon (and at only $7 it was a steal). The case is almost functionally identical to an Incipio Feather, but it's not branded and the soft-touch material is a bit softer than the Feather.
Other lipless cases were clearly too large for my phone at the top near the camera pod, obviously intended to be used with the CDMA/LTE Nexus. I tried several before I found the Qubits case.
I'm using this "Golla" case. Don't know if you can get them online though..
Sgp ultra hybrid best case in my opinion. I got the yellow and purple and I only paid £16 with free postage

ive tried the commuter, incipio silicrylic, and diztronic but i settled on the tpu bumper case from ebay. its feels like its part of the phone, only adds about 1mm with the rubber lip. you never have to take the case off too since you can open the battery door with it on. you dont need any proctection on the back anyways if the phone is dropped.
i currently have the incipio ngp, the case fits great, however, the buttons are covered and it makes them difficult to press. i find myself adjusting the volume when i'm trying to hit the power button. it's also a pocket lint magnet. i have cut the buttons out, and it makes it worlds better, but, i ordered cruzer-lites anyways.
I got mine from dealextreme dot com (not allowed to post links yet)
It fits prefectly for Nexux I9250 and the price is great
I recommend one of these case i have one and i love it!!

Before getting the OEM extended battery I was using the Qubits snap-on case and I LOVED it. Minimal bulk added and the matte finish made it a lot easier to hold on to.
Here's a link, although it does appears to be out of stock on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-RUBBE...9UWU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1324590852&sr=8-4
I like to keep the profile very slim and sleek on my phones as well.
I've used Incipio feather on an older phone and ran naked on my last phone.
The feather for the gnex looks kind of ugly since the cutouts are so big.
The ringke looks nicer, but apparently has issues scratching the top/wearing away the top of the phone if you remove the case often.
I also ended up going with the sgp ultra hybrid even tho it has a lip. Its supposed to be very minimal. An issue I'm reading though is the case makes for a sensitive power button that is triggered too easily ie. when moving around in your pocket. There was a mixup in my order and I received the neo hybrid instead, so I put it on for fun and the lip on this is also very thin. It covers the phone shell lip around the screen exactly. The ultra hybrid is supposed to be even thinner. More on this when my correct order arrives. Quality of the SGP stuff is on par with Incipio.
Cygnett Frost for GSM Nexus
I am in Singapore and picked up the Cygnett Frost for 30 USD. Everything here has the Singapore premium attached so I probably paid more than I should have but this case fits the GSM version like a glove. It's rubberized, fits perfect and very lightweight. Exactly what I wanted.
I also tried the Incipio Feather at the store and there was just a little bit of a gap between the case and phone back. The Incipio is definitely made for the CDMA Nexus.
Does any of these comes with a cutout for volume control and power buttons?

Yes, most cases do. The Cygnett Frost I talked about in my above post has cutouts for all I/O. They aren't overly large either.

I have the diztronic case. It doesn't seem to fit perfectly on my phone. Like a couple of reviews on youtube, the volume buttons don't line up correctly making it a bit difficult to press. I decided to cut out a hole in the case to access the buttons. I might not be using it for too long once my skinomi skin comes in.

I have both the case-mate Tough Case and just got the Incipio Slicrilic today.
An Otterbox Commuter is in the mail.
So far I own 3 basic TPU, the Cruserlite Androidified, the Diztronic, the Rock barely there and the above two.
I must say that overall so far I like the Incipio the most, for protection and button action.
The Tough Case has a really sticky powerbutton, so that takes points off from it.
The volume buttons are a bit off on the Diztronic, though overall case design is excellent, and the power button is exposed for easy feedback.
All other TPUs have buttons fully covered, (basic TPU x3 and the Cruzerlite) and they are last on the list. Free for the shipping cost to anyone who wants them
The ebay Rock 'barely there' is second in my list, for small size, protection and full access to ports.
My unit is the GSM version; we'll see how the Otterbox Commuter tips the scales next week

that's what i thought, i just wanted to be sure and it wasn't just my case. i agree I feel as though this fit is perfect. i don't see to have much an issue with the volume rocker placement as others. In fact, mine works fine...
my one concern would be if i dropped the phone, not sure if it would offer much protection for the screen, but then again the same can be said about most cases offered
I'm getting the extended battery today and the TPU Ditztronic case on Tuesday ("two day shipping"). I'll post some pics as the hardware comes in.

Which Otterbox do you have? I always use the Commuter and it doesn't add much bulk.
On my last phone (HTC Inc) I had an Otterbox Commuter. The case added a significant amount of bulk, so I knew I wanted something that added less bulk than that, but I still wanted something that was both plastic and silicon/rubber because I knew that was best for protection of the phone in case of a drop.
After a lot of hunting, the only case I could find was the Incipio Silicrylic which Verizon sells as the Incipio Double Cover. Aside from the rubbery portion being a lint magnet, which doesn't bother me personally, I'm happy with it. Since the case has rubber coming up the sides instead of plastic like my previous Otterbox on my Inc, it's more comfortable to hold and it is more form fitting to the shape of the device width-ways. It still comes up over the corners, which many consider to be the most vulnerable spot for a phone to hit the ground at. The plastic cover portion does not have the hard, shiny finish like my previous Otterbox - it has more of a soft, suede feel to it.

the Cruser lite Androidified has a cutout for the power buttion
I know its not for everyone, but with a 17 month old boy the otterbox is good for me and my LTE version phone.
The images below are with the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus with stock battery. Both are made specifically for the phone so you have a perfect custom fit.
The UltraSlim is the more slimmer and less bulky option. It takes a week or so of usage to fully break in the leather so that it isn't so tight fitting that the inside seams press the volume and power buttons.
The Crumena is a bit bigger but a bit more easy to use with the pull tab. The seams are on the outside and the leather is a bit thicker. It is meant to be used with the top of the phone inserted first. If you do bottom first the phone will stick out at the top a bit.
I like to carry my phone in either back pocket or my coat pocket, and being a minimalist, I hate bulky cases. Using one of these pouches provides protection against scratches, but you still get to use the phone in all it's natural glory... Otterbox *shudder*...
My preference is that when I'm more casual or on the weekends I like the Sena UltraSlim because I can slip it into my back jeans pocket or coat pocket. The Crumena is a tad too big for the back pocket. I can see myself using the Crumena more during weekday at work.
Anyways, those are my quick thoughts... Here are some pics.

There are actually two versions.
The first version had seams on both sides. But this caused the seams to press down on the power-button and volume-buttons. The first version was also very tight.
I got a new case from Sena when I complained. They acknowledged the problem and sent me the second version when they had it in stock. The second version only has a seam on one side and fits much better. Now I am totally satisfied with the Ultraslim case, and VERY impressed of Sena's customer service!
Thanks alot for this thread. Because of this i went and ordered a ultraslim today!! Thanks
Thanks! Good to hear that the Ultraslim will eventually break in. Mine just arrived and it squeezes the volume buttons all the time (thanks god the unlock button is okay). I'm waiting for it to break in so i can use the volume rockers to wake device

Enjoy I've had mine for about two weeks now and it's literally perfect!
I finally got my pouch today. It's extremely good looking, and feels tight, but not the bad kind of tight. The really good kind. *cough* yeah. Anyway.
I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a nice quality pouch for your phone. I couldn't tell you to get this over any other pouch because this is the second pouch I have bought in my entire life for a mobile phone. I really wasn't a pouch or case kind of guy, but this one is so good looking, and of such great quality that I actually will be using it to protect my gadget of choice.
Today I've received my SGP leather pouch. This is my first pouch and it feel great.
it's a perfect fit for gsm with extended battery. The leather feel nice. So far I'm loving it

I had the Sena pouch - and was not happy at how often the volume would get changed/or the phone would be woken up because of the internal seams.
Got a Cruzer Lite Androidified case and the SGP Crumena in today. Anyone have success stretching their Crumena enough to fit the phone while so cased?
This is the GSM version.

Just leaving my feedback on the Sena Ultraslim pouch. While the pouch is really slim and the texture is the best i've ever felt on any case, it is really tight even after using for a month and it always hits the buttons when slipping in the phone head first. Overall, it's still great if you can get used to slipping it in butt first all the time (which will be a problem if you are using headphones)
If only they would release a more textured version of the Crumena.... (i really don't like the smooth shiny type )
Yea mine is snug as well when I put it in head first. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

My 2 cents...
TPU:
All of the TPU cases are essentially identical, and provide the best protection VS all others -- except an Otterbox -- should you drop it, and the 2nd-best grip (VS silicone). They range from the official Samsung TPU cases ("overpriced"), down to the $2 EBay S-Line / X-Line's. I went for some middle-of-the-road Cruzerlite cases ($10 each or $20 for 3 on Amazon), and they're great, though not as grippy on the sides as I would've liked.

Hard Polycarb:
The hard polycarbonate plastic cases are also very nice and slightly thinner than TPU, but provide little drop protection. Some provide more top/bottom coverage than others, and some, like this Rock Quicksand case I bought, are actually much grippier than you might expect (it's grippier than my Cruzerlite!):
There are still many other types of cases to consider (listed in order of their level of drop protection):
Full body armor -- bulky; otterbox
TPU
Silicone / Gel / Jelly -- these are the grippiest cases you can get, but that also means they attract lint like the plague, are harder to take out of your pocket, and so flexible that they have a tendency to slip off the phone. I still have one of these $0.99 cases on my Captivate, and it's OK, but not ideal.
Bumpers -- protection around the edges of the phone only; often paired with body skins for scratch protection.
Polycarb
Leather pouches -- for "executive" style; slow to access
Flip -- usually seen on tablets; a little awkward to hold when the flaps around back; a big plus is that it replaces the original back cover of the phone, so the original will never get scratched; very little drop protection
Gelaskin / fullbody skins -- scratch protection, but zero drop protection; they're basically just stickers.
Metal battery cover replacements -- these are known to interfere with NFC, and GPS; steer clear
Other...
Soft TPU / hard polycarb are still the most common.
(my ideal case would fuse TPU or polycarb with grippy silicone on the edges, but AFAIK nobody makes this)
I have a flip on order. IMHO the display is the weakest link and the photos posted from EU with totally busted screens annoys me. I'm hoping that the flip's cover will help protect the display somewhat.
The problem is the design, there's hardly any bevel to keep the glass from hitting something and while it's stiffened glass it's not unbreakable. I'm going to gamble on insurance for a couple months even though the replacement cost with insurance is $200 plus processing ($50?).
I'm going with the otterbox defender.

In terms of protection that a great choice, however, it usually removes any styling from the phone. Since Samsung is making the flip case it won't box up the style or feel of the phone (and I have a desk charger on order too which it will still work with). There was a video on some UK retailer site...

People complain that the stand on most kickstand-cases is often flimsy or slippy, so I wouldn't cheap out here if you really intend to use the kickstand a lot vs a dock or desk stand.
If I hadn't ordered a universal ThoughtOut stand I'd have opted either for the official samsung vent case (where you put a coin in the back to act as the stand):
Or, this "SD smart stand" case, which is also getting high praise (the stand flips in and out like a wristband), though is a bit harder to find:

The case is ultra slim, giving you the feeling that it's not even there - aside from the texturized grip it provides, keeping the phone from sliding off surfaces or falling out of your pocket. Allows unimpeded access to ports and buttons, assuring your Galaxy S III is fully functional."

Does anyone have one of these? What are your thoughts? Exactly how thin are these things?
There's three main reasons that I never use a case:
There's only so much room in my pocket as it is
Decreases sexiness
I use mounts that are designed specifically for my phone. A case would get in the way of that.
If I am to believe their marketing... "The case is ultra slim, giving you the feeling that it's not even there"... then it would seem like at least #1 and #2 on my list would not be as much of a concern. #3 would probably still be an issue, but who knows. I plan on getting a ProClip holder for my SGSIII, and I've never had one before so I don't know exactly how snug it will be. If this cover really is as thin as they make it sound, maybe it'll even fit in that too.
Thoughts?
P.S. Show of hands... who saw "ultra slim, giving you the feeling that it's not even there" and immediately wanted to make a sexual joke?
I've also been looking for the slimmest case possible and been eyeing these. Any input would be appreciated!

+1 also interested in these but have no idea how they translate as noone has reviewed them or has them that I've seen.
I'm not as worried about scratches as I am about the thing sliding out of my pocket or very short falls.
Although I'm sure this thing would probably increase friction enough to lower my concerns about pocket escape I'm not sure that it looks like it provides any additional padding vs my kitchen floor.
My main doubt with these is whether the case is so thin it breaks or becomes stretched..
Will have to check best buy to see if they are going to carry this like the flip cover.
And I will be the first to admit that I thought of a sexual joke too.
Well I went to buy them and they are on back order... guess they are more popular then we thought.

Doesn't look like that item really offers anything in terms of protection, aesthetics, or ease-of-holding. The Samsung ones probably don't offer much protection either, but the texture will at least help to grip the phone. Looks a little nicer too.

Just ordered that few days ago. lol
0.3mm thin! think about it! Though it doesnt offer much protection, im only planning on using it around the house and my friends houses.
I typically get a tough case like a Silicryllic or Otterbox, and a lighter/thinner hard case to protect from scratches when being put down, keep cameras protected, and a slight drop.
For my thin case I bought the Rock Quicksand in grey for my Pebble Blue GS3, and am VERY happy with it. It adds a lip around the screen so it can be set face down, controls are easy to get to, and it's different from everything out there. It's great to just have around the house, and set on a desk or counter and not worry about scratching the back.

Also considering the Diztronic blue TPU when it's released, and then either the Silicryllic or an otterbox maybe.

+1 on the rock case. It's really nice.

Slim Cases
I'm (DBA Cases) am going to release one in 2-3 weeks.
That one for a few bucks is going to be garbage. When you are talking thin cases you have to use the right materials - no way they are.
Mine have a special blend of polycarbonate to take falls and scratches, a great grip and better design.
Of course they will be more than a few bucks but I'll have them on EBAY probably.
Let me know I'd love to test and write a full review for ya I'll cover shipping

Saw a review for it on youtube. Looks really sleek but the deal breaker for me was that it doesn't have a lip in front that lets you leave it face down without scratching it up.
Here's the link though:

I went with the Incipio NGP in translucent gray and it looks really slick on my blue s3
hey this one is also a genuine samsung case and it has the lip:

does anyone have a pic of the genuine samsung clear one on the pebble blue phone? i can't find one online anywhere

I've got the Rearth Alpine White Ringke earlier in the week. It's super thin. I've got a Speck Candy shell arriving today for comparison...
I owned one of the 0.3mm cases from ebay for my s2 and I'll give you my opinion:
1. They protect the phone pretty well. Even through some minor falls the case still held on and didn't crack
2. The case scratches pretty easy. If you get the clear one its not as noticeable, but it was very noticeable when I owned the black one.
3. I kept a screen protector on the phone as the lip on the screen side is minimal and I was still scared of setting it down on the screen side otherwise.
4. Used the case for ~6mos(2 mos black version, 4 mos clear version) with no major issues. It is still on the phone as we speak.
5. Super cheap(~$3) and did exactly what it was supposed to do(prevent scratches on the phone and case
I already have one on order for my S3

I really like the case mate http://www.case-mate.com/Samsung-Ga...te-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-Pop-with-Stand-Cases.asp but can of the owners give me its reviews?
AND
Any other ones?
The issue is, I am yet to receive 2 of these and afraid that it might not fit

Amazon Aduro Case
Aduro Shell Holster Combo Case, found on amazon.
I have had this case for a week now. I really like the styling and it feels good; however, it is a snap on case and i'm not sure how the top and bottom edges on the phone will hold up in a fall.
Kickstand Case
I'm also looking for a good case with a kickstand for the Samsung Galaxy S3. Wasn't sure if I should start a new topic, so decided to post here first.
I don't use a phone dock, so the size of the case doesn't concern me. Would like full protection. (top and bottom edges covered) Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you. (Can't post outside links, sorry)
Here are three that I've found. Does anyone know of others?
Case-Mate Pop Case W/ Stand
Concerns: Some of Case-Mates cases bulge out around the edges after a short while. I also wonder about the durability of the kickstand on this case.
Seidio Active with Metal Kickstand
Concerns: Kickstand does not support device in portrait orientation. (Not a deal breaker though). I've never owned a Seidio case, so I personally don't know how quality they are.
TALKonline ProGel SOLID Super Hydro Gel Case W/ Stand
Concerns: Same as the Seidio, I've never owned a case from this company, so I don't know about the quality.

I have a Case-Mate Pop.
Pros:
1. Fits great.
2. Rubber side grips are great.
3. Push buttons work with zero problems.
4. The case totally surrounds the phone (except for the ports).
5. Rubber extends above the glass, so you can place the phone face down.
Cons:
1. The kickstand only works with the phone in a horizontal position. It does not work when the phone is vertical.
2. When placed on a table face up, the plastic part of the cover rests on the table. So, the plastic gets scratched over time.
3. Not a huge deal, but I wish it had covers for the power and earphone ports to keep them clean.
I got a TPU/plastic one off ebay for $7.50 and am liking it. I posted it about it at the other thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28547621&postcount=17
I've been using the dry-application screen protector that came with it and so far so good. It doesnt cover the whole front, since the screen edges are slightly curved, but it works. I also was in a hurry so just put the screen protector plastic that came with the phone on the back before stuffing it into the case just to protect from wear marks, etc. It has a side-effect benefit of covering the camera lens w/o seeming to affect image quality.

Seidio makes some of the best cases on the market. No doubt about it. I don't know about their kickstands but their cases are top notch.
Thanks for the feedback. I found a few other kickstand cases, but I still haven't made a decision. Dont really like any of them.
I have the case mate so far it's good, but I only been using it for two days. Ill keep posted.

I have a Case-Mate Pop and a Seidio Active. The Active's kickstand is heavier duty and the CM's kickstand is flimsy, but it is functional. However, I would not necessarily say that the Active is a better cover than the Case-Mate. I like the Case-Mate more than the Active, but I use the Active because I need to hang my phone on my belt. I preordered a Trident Kraken.
Has one tried this case http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Hard-...140748?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19d524cb4c before?

I bought this case and I kept it on for about 30 seconds. It really made the phone feel cheap.
Currently not being productive on my S3.
If youre just looking for the kickstand feature, I'd recommend getting FlyGrip, a tad bit pricey though.

I recently purchased Aduro Shell Holster Combo with Kick-Stand from amazon because my husband thought it'd be nice to have a holster... but anyway... im a bit disappointed in general. First of all, the packaging... maybe cuz im picky but i didnt like that it came in a plastic baggie. The kickstand seems cheap and easily breakable. One thing I like is it's pretty grippy cuz of the material. Don't think it'll provide much protection from drops though. We read some good reviews on amazon, which is why we purchased but... it's mediocre at best imo. But my husband likes the back, me not so much. Here are some pictures:

I just received the same case although it was branded as a "JKase" and was 5 bucks cheaper than the Aduro branded one. It's actually pretty good and the holster also seems okay. I'm not sure of the sturdiness or longevity of this case and holster but so far so good.
