Battery life help. 3% in half an hour - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hey everyone. I was wondering if I can get some tips or advice. I been losing about 3% every half hour. Running on jugs 5.0, faux u kernal. Brightness set to about 20%, and autosync off.
I just installed eugenes stock aosp launcher, and trying to keep everything minimal for battery life.

Is this a newly flashed ROM? Almost all ROMs battery lives are atrocious upon flashing..give it a couple days and it should improve alot

Well the best kernel for battery and flawless performance for me is Eugene's streamline.Give it a try.
FROM A GALAXY BETTER THAN YOURS.

3% in half an hr is nothing. all usage is subjective and based on each individual users habits with their device.

Not a new rom. Been faithful with juggs ever since it came out. But have been trying a few kernals on the way and alway went back to fauxs. My usage has been moderate to light with little screen on time, and just a little web browsing and emails. Although I did just add a few widgets to my home screens. I've just noticed this sudden increase in power consumption after eugenes stock gb launcher.
Please don't make me go back to tw
Edit: 39% left with 1 hr, 40 mins of screen on time. Total of 4 hrs, 43 mins so far

You might have an app that is draining your battery. Check your battery usage and see if there is an app causing it.

Google and download betterbatterystats to see if a rogue app is making your phone not sleep. If there are none, then you are not having any battery issues.

My battery life drops 30% every half hour....

You guys need to try the new UCLA port. I'm at 1 day 10 hours with 27% battery left.. Screen on time is at 3 hours so far. Auto sync, 4g data, and everything else has been constantly running the entire time. I don't turn anything off. I use my phone for the same things every day, and have never got over 15 hours. This ROM is insane.

This. Download better battery stats from the market and see if you have any wakelocks or services thatvare draining your battery. Im running darksides with eugenes streamline kernel underclocked at 1.35 and undervolted globally by 50 mv and im at this on ~50% brughtness:

My battery readings are really off. There are times when the battery increases in percentage without being on the charger. Is this normal?
I calibrated the battery (oem) but this continues.
Mines been doing that... really more interestingly I found something about using the wrong charger throws your cycle off? What charger do you use? I use my old BB charger since it has a wayyyy longer cord

I've only used the OEM charger the last few days but it still happens. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has this issue.
Mine has been pretty bad as well. I think you're actually doing a bit better than me, considering your high screen on time.
Some ROM, kernel, and modem info may be helpful to see if there's a common factor contributing to the big drop in battery

The picture was with Calk 2.0.0, one of the EK02 kernels and the EG31 modem. I'm on EK02 today and my battery looks like it's headed the same way. Dropped to 68% from about six hours of sleeping.

I've noticed mine always seems to drop quite a bit while I'm asleep if I don't charge it overnight. Which is strange because during the day I keep it connected to either WiFi or 4G pretty much all day and I can get at least 15 hours out of it there but 7 hours of sleep at night and my phone decides to give up on battery life.

I had to do battery calibration 4 times after changing to EK02 modem but my signal strength is much better. My battery was dropping to 96% as soon as I unplugged it. Have you tried the Battery Calibration app by Ne'ma?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I'm on Calk's 2.0 with EK02 kernel and EG30 modem and am having great battery life...odd. Doubt that the modem would make that much of a difference.
Currently at 26 1/2 hours w/ no plug-ins, 29% battery left, with moderate use (awake and screen on times comparable to the screenshot you posted).
All that app does is remove the battery stat file, which is proven to do less than nothing on the E4GT. I'll try some normal calibrations, though; I'm also going to try the Zedomax kernel and see if that makes a difference.

I have heard that the app does nothing as well. I only suggested it because after I changed modems when my phone charged to full and I unplugged it, it dropped to 96% immediately until I used that a couple of times. Now, everything is great like it was previously. Maybe I was just getting inaccurate reading

i've experienced sudden drops in battery level after a reboot, going from 50% to 20%. the phone is unrooted, just got it last week. when there are no sudden drops, the battery life has been good, 12 hours with moderate/heavy use (wifi with streaming internet radio, email, web browsing, gaming), much higher with some down time.
is there a fix for this?

I charged it up during the day yesterday, but then hammered it syncing my emails, sms messages and other things.
So, last night was my first real charge. I took it off the charger at 6am this morning, and right now, at just a few minutes less than 5 hours, I'm at 83% with 70% use being cell standby.
I'm sticking with HSPA+ today, because I know that will drain the battery more than WiFi (at least that was the case on my Atrix) and I'm trying to get a feel for the battery life when away from WiFi.
Now, full disclosure, my phone has 6 email accounts setup for push. An Exchange account, two Gmail accounts and three Imap idle accounts using k9 mail. Still, I would say it's burning battery at a little higher rate than my Atrix with those same six push email accounts.
5 hours and down to 40%.
:-(
I'm seeing a significant increase in battery life whith the s3 over the s2

I'm a bit of a light user, but a little heavier than average given new phone.
7.5 hrs @ 57%.
I'll post screens when I can.
5 Hours, 45%, screen on 2 hr, 12 min.
Interesting thing: I have a Pandora Widget on my screen, have not used it at all, and 13% of my power, and show son for 22 min.
9.5 hrs @ 29%.
I am using the default juicedefender profile.
Cell standby hogs the battery more than other phones like US One X with same SoC. I think kernel devs can work on this since this is not normal.
To get a good idea on battery life, everyone needs to show their screen on time as it should be the biggest drain.

^^ I had power saving off for the first 3 hours of the day, and screen was set to 1/4 brightness. I changed screen to auto brightness, disabled wifi network scanning/notification, turned on power saving mode (all options), and it's been like that since about 3 hours into the day. I've done some driving with Slacker Radio streaming via bluetooth to my Jeep.
Seems like cellular standby eats juice. I am in an LTE area.
is the a way to turn off LTE?
This is mine so far, don't really run any battery saving appsetc. Cell standby is a bit too much.

My screen has only been on 2 hour 20 mins that is like 1/4 of 8 hours of screen time...? Or do you mean the phone itself being online then it would be 10hours.
Your battery life is normal with the signal readings that are shown in the screenshot. You are showing almost no signal for most of the 10 hours, that will drastically drain your battery. You could probably get another hour of screen time out of that 14%. That would give you almost 12 hours on a full charge with a weak signal. I have also found the stock ROMs to have longer battery life so far than the cm/aokp ROMs, at least on this phone so far. Once they get the cm/aokp ROMs 100%, they will probably yield better battery life.

8 hours of screen on time?!?!?!?!? If I get 3 hours it's a miracle. I've never heard of anyone getting a solid 8 hours of actual screen on time. I don't think I'd get that even if the phone was on airplane mode.
try logging out of lattitude
It depends entirely on the ROM and kernel. With stock TouchWiz I can get close to 8 hours. With the latest CM10 I'm also getting close to 8 hours screen time. With KT747 and CM9 and an over clock to 1890 MHz, I got around 5 hours screen time a couple weeks ago.

try flashing different kernels and see which one suits u the best.every phone is different.u may also wanna underclock and undervolt. also change the rom may b if changing kernel doesnot work.ine suggestion.XenonHD rom with its stock kernel.
The stock battery is a joke at 1800 and the extended is 2100...I had both and both sucked although the 2100 was a lil better. I have the 3800 Seiko battery now and that will last me all day. Makes the phone thicker but its better then charging all day and worrying about what's killing your battery.

Turn off features when not being used like data NFC GPS.
Also avoid auto task killers
How much does it drain in one hour? Battery drain depends on many factors. The mains ones would be what kernel and ROM you are running as well as what "features" you have turned on. For example I am running CM10.1 with the stock CM kernel and I usually get around 16-18 hours of battery life with 1.5-2 hours of screen time.. that is with all of the features (gps, NFC, etc.) turned OFF.

How on earth can you drain a 3800mAh battery in one day? Nonstop internet radio AND 3d gaming on full display brightness?
I am currently using PA rom with franco kernel. Normal day = roughly 13-15 hours ish.
By normal day I mean around 30 minutes of talk time, about 1 hour ish web browsing and like what, 30 minutes ish of youtube? Of course, sometimes I am free and end up playing games on it for couple hours lol, but the stock battery seems to be plenty enough to me.
My battery makes it about 15-17 hours, with about 1 hour gaming,1 hour browsing and talk time around 1,5 hours...Xylon + Purity Kernel!
It is what it is. This is Wi-Fi only on this charge:

Turn data off when not using it. You can download a widget for that.
Keep screen brightness down low.
If rooted use setcpu and choose a screen off profile of 350mhz maximum - I find this a real benefit.

Battery drains fast for the first 20-25% on Jelly Bean

Hey All,
I hope someone here can help me out. I am on stock rooted JB and the batter drains extremely fast for the first 20%. In about an hour I am down to about 75-80% left. Then it slows down. Also when I unplug the charger the battery immediately looses 5%. I might have to go back to Ginger Bread because this update is so buggy.
I m having the same issue.
Was having 2-days battery life with ICS.
Update to JB with new TMobile radio. Battery lift drop so fast. Only for 1-day. Same usage. Now back to ICS. Still cant get 2-days battery life. Any one has the same problem?
Sent from my SGH-T989D using xda app-developers app
I switched back to Ginger bread. JB has nice features but its too buggy and everything crashed even after a factory reset and debloat.
It will take a couple of days (a week maybe) until the phone settles down into its own. Until that time you will see very random battery stats. It has happened to me on every new OS I have ever flashed. Several reboots followed by a ten minute "no touch" helps me. Meaning boot the phone, let it sit for ten minutes, reboot the phone, let it sit for another ten minutes, etc. After about four reboots like this my battery becomes more stable and predictable.
Same problem. My battery drop so much. I used deep sleep battery saver but seem cant help more.

You used the phone quite heavily? You barely have any screen on time. That is not heavy at all.
What the stats don't show is that my screen was on for at least 2 hours that morning while I was trying to restore GB from backups. It took at least 5 attempts to get it to work properly.
