Post a Screenshot of your battery drain in the settings and give details about your setup. And what is fast in your opinion? 1% /hour?
Maybe you should buy the extended battery kit?

try flashing different kernels and see which one suits u the best.every phone is different.u may also wanna underclock and undervolt. also change the rom may b if changing kernel doesnot work.ine suggestion.XenonHD rom with its stock kernel.

The stock battery is a joke at 1800 and the extended is 2100...I had both and both sucked although the 2100 was a lil better. I have the 3800 Seiko battery now and that will last me all day. Makes the phone thicker but its better then charging all day and worrying about what's killing your battery.

Turn off features when not being used like data NFC GPS.
Also avoid auto task killers

How much does it drain in one hour? Battery drain depends on many factors. The mains ones would be what kernel and ROM you are running as well as what "features" you have turned on. For example I am running CM10.1 with the stock CM kernel and I usually get around 16-18 hours of battery life with 1.5-2 hours of screen time.. that is with all of the features (gps, NFC, etc.) turned OFF.

How on earth can you drain a 3800mAh battery in one day? Nonstop internet radio AND 3d gaming on full display brightness?

I am currently using PA rom with franco kernel. Normal day = roughly 13-15 hours ish.
By normal day I mean around 30 minutes of talk time, about 1 hour ish web browsing and like what, 30 minutes ish of youtube? Of course, sometimes I am free and end up playing games on it for couple hours lol, but the stock battery seems to be plenty enough to me.

My battery makes it about 15-17 hours, with about 1 hour gaming,1 hour browsing and talk time around 1,5 hours...Xylon + Purity Kernel!

It is what it is. This is Wi-Fi only on this charge:

Turn data off when not using it. You can download a widget for that.
Keep screen brightness down low.
If rooted use setcpu and choose a screen off profile of 350mhz maximum - I find this a real benefit.

6 hours screen on?

Sure sure it's with light use, but just the fact that it can hit 6+ hours screen time after more than a day and a half... sits pretty well with me.
No games, 30% screen brightness, 74 mins of calls, quite a bit of texting & whatsapp, 30 odd mins browsing, wifi 100%, sync on, only 1 widget.
aokp, lean kernel, undervolted, K6, extended battery.
Loving this phone!!!

Not bad at all! Especially considering 74min of phone calls.
NICE!!! Can't wait till my extended battery comes in.
Nice. I've had my extended battery for 2 days now and I am seriously impresses ed with it. It on my drive home I'm at 65% instead of 30%. I really think the extended battery should of come stock.
I got a similar 6 hour in airplane mode. I was watching a movie while roaming on vacation.
Verizon stock rom. stock battery.
Even stock SGN makes wonders with battery on Wi-Fi But still your stats are truly amazing
OP did charge the phone for a bit....like 3 times don't know for how long....but nonetheless amazing stats...

No, he didn't? Look closer on first screenshot. There is no sign of charging on those lines below the graph. Those places where graph line goes up are pretty normal and that doesn't mean device war charging.

Nah I didn't charge it at all, as the other guys pointed out. I remember my battery dropping to 4%, I then put down my phone and when I came back later on, it was reading 5%. I thought I was going crazy, but looking at the graph now I see it really did happen. It raised from 4% to 5% and stayed there for a bit before dropping to 4% again.
Anyway, I hope this wasn't a one off... it's not doing as well today with the same usage. We'll see...

Actually, the phone calls don't do much damage... You should be able to talk 11hours on this phone apparently...
I am very jealous. I am lucky to get 3-3.5 of web surfing.
With standard battery, you can get almost 11 hours screen on time (by doing nothing):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366878&highlight=max+battery
So, that's the limit
My experience with extended battery, 2000 mAH, GSM, I could get 4 and a half screen on time with 61 hours stand by time. For sure, it can go down to 6 hours or more screen on time if I down the standby time. All with stock ROM, stok kernel, un-locked
It is not difficult to achieve that knowing the limit, all depends on how you set it up and how do you use your phone.

Any chance of better battery life? Info inside.

I currently get at least 4 hours of screen time on my GN before it needs charging. I'd use my phone mostly for Netflix, Spotify, Poweramp, ICS+ Browsing. In this run I probably used Netflix for about an hour of the 4 hours of display time (3 episodes of US office on commute to college).
I am using a GN GSM with 2000 mah battery, AOKP Milestone 3, latest leankernel and my display is usually at about 40%.

you know if stock kernel would improve it?
I've gotten 4 hours of screen time with ezekeel's glados gsm kernel on the stock battery. This is with auto brightness, sync on, mostly connected to wifi, not doing anything special to conservative battery. Browsing, youtube, shadowgun, modern combat 3, wordfeud, tapatalk, gtalk.
With the 2000 mah extended battery, I would think you could squeeze out another hour of screen time.

Turn down the display all the way. Disable all mobile networks in the settings. And make sure you keep the battery cool so you dont damage it.

Well 14% onto your 4 hours would only be half of the extra hour needed for 5 hours.
Doesn't pulling data off WiFi consume less battery than 3G?

Wifi uses less battery, but it also depends on your 3g signal. If you have a weak signal then that will use more power than if you have a strong signal.
Why don't u just carry your stock battery in your wallet? Whenever I'm going to be away from a power source for an extended period of time, I'll just carry a spare battery in my wallet and I usually don't worry about battery life. The battery is so small, it easily fits in my wallet.
I'm on aokp milestone 3 with the trinity kernel undervolted and my phone just won't die. As you can see I used it a fair bit with the screen on for about 3.5 hours. So I am very happy with this. O am also on normal battery, nothing extra.

New galaxy nexus user

I got new GN and it is very good but one thing is ruin it and it is battery life example an hour ago I took phone from charger and it was 95 and kept it in my pocket for half an hour and just loses 3 % and then played scramble with friend 4 games and now battery is 77%.
Even my old galaxy s would use less than that
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
i dont know if this will work, but test this and then let me know if it makes a difference (you'll need to spend a whole day testing this) not just an hour
go to settings -> developer options -> in the apps section at the bottom put a checkmark on "don't keep activities"
then do a comparison
one day with it with normal phone use, and one day without it with normal phone use
I will try it tomorrow
Can you take a look at this and compare it with yours cuz screen is consuming so much
Screen is on manual and lowest brightness and wireless is off and GPS off

Pictures aren't showing up for me but the battery life is horrid on this thing. The screen is gigantic and beautiful its the trade off we all took
Edit they loaded. Looks like my usage more or less.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
why don't you go a few days and post your usage with normal full-day stats? You can't look at a couple of hours of usage and say it sucks. Also, why are you on EDGE? You're gonna burn more screen sitting waiting for things to load on EDGE than just using HSPA+.
But battery life is a well known "issue". The screen eats battery. Turn off live wallpapers and turn down brightness. Do all of your general battery saving things (turn off WiFi, BT, etc. when not in use) and you'll see battery life improve.
The most you can expect with "normal" (which is suggestive) usage is probably 18 hours total with 3.5hrs screen on. More than likely something like 13-15 hours.

Roms aren't going to affect battery life as much as kernel will. As far as kernels I love Franco kernel. I used to use faux with a good experience.

The battery? Yeah... They're sold from plenty of Korean eBay sellers. Official branded Samsung batteries.
And since you're on GSM, its 2000mAh (instead of stock 1750mAh). The Verizon one is 2100mAh (instead of stock 1850mAh). They are NOT compatible.

A single screen shot shows us absolutely NOTHING about battery life.
Your battery is also almost full...
Use the phone a full day 100% to 5%, then screenshot your overview, graph, screen on, awake, and signal times. THEN we'll be able to tell.

battery life is definitely improved on 4.0.4 , i'm getting between 45min-1hr more screen ON time (mostly surfing and reading xda) than on 4.0.2
i use live wallpaper and autobrightness, wifi always ON, everything stock with no tweaks, stock 1750mAh battery
Can you also post the battery voltage when you almost depleted your battery?
It can let us to see if the battery is correctly calibrated to show the proper percentage value. I encountered up to 1 hour different in screen on time with a non calibrated GN.
To know your voltage, dial *#*#4636#*#* (*#*#info#*#*) (no need press call).
Go to battery info and see the battery voltage value.
The galaxy nexus will always get awful battery. I have never gotten over 2.5h screen time and.I have tried every rom, literally. I can't really get over 14h stanbdy either.
I can verify I seem to have better battery life after the 4.04 update.

Post your battery times

I bought an extended 4800 mAh battery and cover on Ebay and I love it I currently have over 15hrs on the battery and it still has 31% left awesome, considering I am running overclocked at 1809 Mhz.
34% screen
29% cell standby
8% maps
8% internet
8% GPS tuner
5% Android OS
4% Android System
3% Device idle
2% Media server
I keep it in a steel locker at work I think that is the reason for the high cell standby #
My problem is I destroy everything delicate or expensive, and this phone is both. I have been looking for a silicone case but havent had any luck anyone see one?
This phone is going to go shotting out of my hand like a wet watermelon seed any minute now I know it :cyclops:
i get 15hrs on the stock battery?

Cell standby attributing to high battery usage is due to a glitch. It reports incorrect usage because of a miscalculation. You can find the fix for that here
What's your screen on time? 15hrs isn't outstanding, especially for a battery twice the OEM size.

Just search ebay for a silicon case. There are literally hundreds. I personally would go with tpu as it is more durable and less flimsy. Also less likely to be a lint magnet.

I am definitely getting better battery life with the stock battery, with 3-4 hours of screen time. I'm not using power saver feature either. Stock, non-rooted. Wifi on at home, VZ LTE elsewhere.
Heh, i was just interested what other were getting.
My GF has yet to have to charge her SGS3 except for when she puts it on the charger for the night, and has yet to run out of battery.
I've been quite impressed with the battery performance so far.

Thanks for the link missed that somehow.
Flashed the file and my screen went to 56% and the cell standby droped to 5% ? Is the miscalculation just in how it calculates the percentages? Will have to do some more reading on the subject.
Screen time was 7 hrs 54min
Only 3hrs commando........lite weight.
Lol just yanking your chain
I took these screen caps recently, but this isn't out of the normal for me. Running a version of kyanROM that I modified with kt kernel.

Remove it and replace it with the original before you take it to the Verizon store. It all depends on the store and or the clerk, better safe than sorry:fingers-crossed:
