Swype problem - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does anyone else have a problem with Swype? I have a constant problem with it. I uninstall and reinstall fresh and then it just stops working whenever I receive a message. I'm on aokp b28 and have tried a few rooms and this keeps on happening does anyone have an idea? Nothing comes up at all when I try and swype either no blue box bouncing around the keyboard or anything. Its like the screen is dead lol. Then I switch to the android keyboard and it works fine please help

Check your PM

Sounds to me like the one you are using has run out of time. Grab the newest one grab the website. Beta.Swype.com I think.

Tried the APk and still stops working after a few messages.

I'm using the first beta of the ICS compatible version on stock non-rooted yakjuux 4.0.1 and do not have any Swype issues.

I use go keyboard and it has eagle integrated. Give that a shot it's free on the market.

No Swype issues here on the latest beta with stock 4.0.2.

I've never even heard of it, I thought you meant Skype!

how did you guys get the official swype beta with higher resolution? i downloaded the installer from swype email and it installed but the resolution is the same making the keyboard tiny. the installer downloaded version 3.26.92.38303.

Using latest Swype without problems.
Could your problem be because your custom ROM reports different resolution?

im using aopk but have it set to the default 320dpi

its set to default dpi. I'm going to try another rom to see if it helps

i think i figured out why the swype keyboard is small for me, it was the navigation bar or lack of it. when i set the nav bar back swype installed fine and looked normal but when got rid of it again swype keyboard went back to the smaller size. anyone have the official swype working without the nav bar?

I run it without nav bar, in tablet mode at 192dpi. I did have to install at 320 though.

My Swype has always worked just fine for me except that it lags big time. If I send a text and hit the home button the messaging app will close immediately but the Swype keyboard will lag and stay up on the home screen for a second. It drives me absolutely crazy because this phone is usually very smooth for me except for Swype. Does this happen to everyone else or am I just missing a setting that could fix this?

I flashed the latest CM9 nightly to give it a try and I have to say that all the lag issues I was having with swype are completely gone. I dont know if it is from the 4.04 update or AOKP just lags with swype but it runs so much smoother in CM9.

Anybody else experiencing this bug?

Randomly when I go to send a text message, the letters I type don't show up. I have to close the messaging app fully and relaunch it and everything is fine.
I was rooted, with franco kernel and a bunch of mods/themes/apps installed. Right now I restored to stock ICS. Re-rooted, flashed aokp milestone 4 and haven't downloaded any apps and I just experienced the issue again.
Also, I am using stock keyboard.
Any ideas?

I believe this is a general issue with ICS, I have the same exact problem sometimes (1/~30 times) no matter what kernel/rom combo I'm using.
Definitely have never seen this before and i text like mad. But i also use handcent from day 1 so it might be the stock text app.
This happened to me once in a market app but hasn't occurred in the messaging app

It had the same thing happen to me quite often back on my HTC Legend on CM7 with Handcent, but never so far on my new Gnex. I liked the stock messaging app and even gave up on Handcent.

I can also confirm this happening very rarely. aokp/franco

Have definitely seen this more than a few times. I put it down to Swiftkey X compatibly issues though...

I think it also happens in the Market for me too. I dont really remember though. I do see it rarely in my messaging app. Although its very rare it does get annoying.

Thats the thing, I had swype installed and thought it was that. Like I said just did a reset and fresh install of everything. Cant be any third party apps.
Not me personally, but a friend who's on complete stock ICS has complained of this happening every so often. I've never seen it on mine.

So it's still happening with the Stock Keyboard? Interesting...Well, all we can wait for is a fix from the big G. I would have no idea where to start looking for problems with this sort of thing!
Yep have had this problem every morning for about the past week. I need to restart the phone to fix it.
I am rooted on stock 4.0.2 and normally use Swype however it happens on other keyboards too

Keypad dialer laggy on ICS??

I put a custom ICS ROM on my phone and the keypad started lagging, once the official OTA came out I flashed back to GB and then flashed the OTA (Stock rooted) to ICS and my keypad is still laggy... so I know its not a fault of the custom ROM.
Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a fix? Its very annoying.
Thanks.
Try flashing Goodness, awesome rom. I have no issues with the keyboard. I think I noticed some lag on other Roms. I can't remember which from though.

I definitely notice it sometimes on my galaxy s3. Usually in the messaging app
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I should have been more specific, I am talking about the keypad dialer. I don't text but when testing the keyboard I didn't notice any lag.
I use to notice some lag on stock ICS but none on Blazer Roms ever.

Issues with Swype after recent Sprint update

Has anyone noticed any issues with Swype since the Jelly Bean update? I've noticed that if I'm in a text or IM, Swype will completely delay and not allow me to type at all. Suddenly the keyboard will restart, popping up show a small bubble for "English", and then allowing me to use it again.
I haven't had any issues using rooted stock. Have you tried clearing the data?

Mine just started doing the same thing after a reboot, but I'm using Swype beta. After the initial lag in opening it for the first msg after a reboot it works fine.

No, I haven't tried to clear the data, but just did. I'll let you know if I experience any further issues.

[Q] Auto correct no longer works after jb update

I'm just curious as to how many people are having auto correct issues since the jb release? It doesn't work at all. It shows suggestions to my words but hitting space bar no longer automatically inputs the word.

Had to resort to SwiftKey for a keyboard with a working auto correct. Garbage that I may have to spend some money for a working keyboard because of a bug but we'll see when the trial is over
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
Having the same problem. Think I'll either revert back to ICS or start looking into custom ROM's.
Disappointing.
Surprisingly SwiftKey keyboard has an amazing auto correct, comparable if not better than the stock keyboard. Not sure how long the trial period is but I will end up buying it if I have to. Give it a try before spending time flashing or reverting to ics.

You are going to leave JB or flash custom roms because the sammy autocorrect doesn't work? Try out a few keyboard and you may like those rather than using the terrible sammy keyboard. AOSP 4.2 is pretty nice. free in the play store or you can get the actual APK and also have the swype gestures.

[Q] Swiftkey as default keyboard

Few days ago I bought the Swiftkey keyboard and even after selecting it as default keyboard, it keeps reverting to stock keyboard after sometime without even booting. Is there a solution for this?
You might want to try removing the stock keyboard using TiBu/RootExplorer/etc. and leave SwiftKey as the only keyboard present.

Similar to this, you could also go into the Apps in the settings, and find and disable the stock keyboard. I've been using SwiftKey for around 4 years, I've faced this issue multiple times.
Just started doing this for me a month or so ago. I went in to titanium and froze Android keyboard, just like what the other guy did and it worked fine. Not a fan of removing completely so freezing is the way to go imo.

Yes, I tried all the other possible ways. Freezing is the only option it seems. And now finally I'm on Swiftkey! :good:
Great! Enjoy it, it's a fantastic keyboard, be warned though, it gets better and worse as they release updates.
