BrickeD?!?!?!?!? ): - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was installing the Cyanogenmod hboot so i can install my Cool3D sense on my HTC DESIRE CDMA, and now once i restarted the phone once it successfully installed the hboot, my phone wont do ANYTHING. Fastboot works, but nothing else. I can't seem to get the official USCC RUU to download, either. I have tried USCC RUU's from other people, but all of them keep saying that there is a file error or something like that... like it says a file may be damaged on the RUU....? but yeah. I hope my phone isn't bricked, because I am about to go on a big trip and i need my phone, and ofcourse don't have money to get another one... can someone please help me, like fast?!?! I repeat, NOTHING ON MY PHONE WORKS, BESIDES FASTBOOT.

What hboot did you flash?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA Premium App

it was on alpharev.nl . the Bravo CM7 one. nothing at all works. no screen, no nothing. just the charging light when its off, and fastboot when i press the correct buttons.

And you have GSM?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA Premium App

Run RUU and pray, as you have CDMA(BravoC) those are for GSM only aka BRAVO...

I've already tried running RUU's. They say theres a file thats broken and that i should download a different RUU. But they all say the same thing.

From shipped-roms.com?

Do you have any backup from recovery on sdcard?

heres the link for desire
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Desire
which rom do you think i should download? i've already tried the verizon one, but it says theres a model ID mismatch and that i cant use it.... i have Bluegrass Cellular (Unbranded USCC basically) and i cant find that in the rom list on there. But USCC has a RUU on their website but for some reason their download is down.

no i don't. /:

downloading it as we speak

Hold on for a bit, you need to tell me what is the name of hboot you flashed

[Q] I have S-off with CID 11111111

hello peeps my question is what is the best way to flash roms to my device ? do i need to root my device to flash roms and do i need to flash alpharev's h-boot ? my device had CID 11111111 and S-off . thanks in advance
As you s-off just flash recovery and you are ready to go...
One question how did you get super cid?
About alpharev hboot... It depends on rom requirements but there are only for Desire Gsm aka Bravo (code name)

Very easy to do with ur sensation i just found this guide
Navigate to fastbootby pressing volume downand pressing power button to select (power off > vol down + power on) It will take you to the fastbootbootloader screen on your phone Connect your phone via USB Your Screen should now read fastbootUSB
8. enter the command "fastboot oemwritecid 11111111" 9. enter the command "fastboot reboot-bootloader (Wait for it to reboot the bootloader) 10. enter the command "fastboot getvarcid" [it should confirm your CID is 11111111] 11. enter the command "fastboot reboot" 12. You can now flash any ROM you like.

If your desire is s-off it has superCID, the hboots are patched. You will never need a goldcard for flashing a ruu.

Wrong.... supercid lets u flash any ruu whether ur phone is branded or not, s-off doesnt. Thats what the goldcard is for
Sent from my HTC Desire
Yeah I know, what I meant to say is that the hboots from alpharev are superCID patched and if you have superCID you don't need a goldcard. You actually need a goldcard if you're branded and want to install another ruu.
But not if you have superCID
Supercid DOESN'T exist on desire, alpharev hboot are patched ONLY for overwriting hboot by RUU to keep s-off (except downgrader) CID is telling branding/region which phone was dedicated to....to flash different region/branding RUU you need a goldcard which will skip cid check. Without OP hboot screen this chat is useless

You can't flash an older RUU.
Please explain what you want to achieve.
On htcruu.com you'll find RUUs, you probably want 2.17.707.x or newer.

Ok the whole story is i have unlock bootloader, install CWM and root my HOX, then when i know there is an update, i relock it and update the RUU and wanted to update to JB......
I have flash stock recovery and the firmware (13MB) then after flashing the firmware and restart my phone, it is struck in the white screen
Now my HBoot is 1.36.0000
Radio is 5.125.162.29
So did you flash an RUU?
Not sure why you updated hboot, but now you CM10 won't work, so you will need stock ROM and stock boot.img, which the RUU should have given you.

Desire stuck at HTC logo..

Hello everyone.. My friend's desire stuck at HTC logo, nd it doesn't go any further.. It's un rooted, and s - on..can u please guide me how to solve it. Or any useful links are welcome... Thanks in advance..

Try flashing the 2.3 ruu in my sig. All your data will be lost, but at least the phone will be working.
Put the zip on the root of your sd-card, boot in bootloader (vol down+power button) then select yes when prompted.
Silly question may be.. So no need to connect to computer or need to be rooted? I'll try it today.. Thanks

No need.
I did as u said, but it shows radio_v2 failed=PU, AND nd lastly update failed..others like splash etc shows ok.. My hboot changed from 0.93 to 1.02.0001and still problem persist.. Now radio is 5.11.05.27, what happened? Now it's boot looping with HTC logo and 5vibrations every time.. Plz tell me how to solve it..
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
Ok...now we know why it was bootlooping in the first place. You have a radio brick. A radio brick is a kind a brick that we can't do anything about. Somehow, your radio got corrupted.
You will need to send it to a service.
But it's not boot looping before flashing that ruu.. I can't send it to service as it's bought in USA, he is using it in India.. Is there any alternative?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
The only thing you could do is trying to flash the ruu a lot of times, hoping that it will eventually work.
Same ruu or anything else?? Does that ruu work for any radio or is it selective for my radio??
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
You could try other ruu's, but you'll need a goldcard if your phone is branded. Check out bortaks guide for other ruu's.
The 2.3 ruu is the only one that doesn't need a goldcard, cause it's not branded.
I saw a ruu with same radio number as mine.. And it's in wwe format.. Can I download it and get its ruu? I'll try ur ruu some more times..

Without adb to tell what is stopping the device from fully booting we cannot fully tell if its the radio or not. Besides running a ruu will reflash the radio in the process and it will check it to make sure its OK before sending it to the bootloader. Flashing radios is a dangerous game, one bad download is all it takes to kill a phone. And as you said all the user would need to do afterwards is reflash the recovery and their preferred rom I'm not looking to start a flame war here, I'm just saying that a ruu will be easier for inexperienced users. And they will not lose s-off as revolutionary patches the bootloader to ignore all updates.

Hmmm :-\ if I was you I would run ruu, and go completely to stock. Then try letting the phone boot. If that fails boot into bootloader and select factory reset. If that fails then it may well be a hardware issue pal :-\
Tapped out from my sexy nexus 7
How did you flash the radio?
It can be a bit sticky using cwm to flash it, fastboot is the most reliable way, it does sound like a radio problem to me.... Does it boot up without a sim card in, or can you quickly try to turn it to airplane mode before it switches off again? If it stays on then it is most likely a broken radio.
As stated above though an ruu should solve the problem regardless.....

[Q] Help!!!!! Bricked my wildfire s while unrooting

Hi,
I was trying to unroot my wildfire s after being rooted for more than a year... i used the below link to lock back my bootloader and unroot ..
androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/526575-guide-unrooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-a.html
On the bootloader screen, it says locked (oow)... i then used PG76IMG.zip file which i actually got by renaming the file : RUU_Marvel_S_hTC_Asia_India_2.13.720.1_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225848_signed.zip .
After that, when i tried to reboot my phone, it never goes past the htc logo screen.. Please help.. What am i missing or doing incorrectly.
Thanks.
