Will boot animation from one Rom work on another?

I have a .zip boot animation from one Rom that looks really good. Can I just flash it on another Rom?

yep you can use them as long as they are from roms meant for phones of the same resolution...

You can install any boot animation with a 800*480 resolution with any ROM.
You just have to know that not every ROMs saves the bootanimation.zip in the same folder. So just check the one used by the ROM you want to install it onto.
Actually you can flash boot animations with different resolutions, or at least, higher resolutions.
They'll just look horrific due to down-sampling.

I've been wondering the same thing as the OP, i want to get the boot animation from Virtuous G-lite onto G2 Slim but i'm not quite sure what to do. Could anyone help me out?
Get the rom.zip's, open them up.
bootanimation.zip is normally found in /system/media/ (for aosp, can't quite remember for sense)
swap it.

Change bootanimation

I'm running Freeza's 1.7 and I'm loving it, but I'm not a fan of the boot animation (the galaxy nexus boot animation). I am wondering how I can go about changing it to the international GS3 animation. I've tried searching and haven't found anything. Thanks for any help.
anyone.?
Rom toolbox products has boot animations... Why not try them? Does the rom allow custom boot animation?

I am also interested in this as well... I've been trying to find a bootanimation.zip of the SAMSUNG logo and it's animation...
Not a fan of seeing the "android" animation and haven't quite found a good alternate animation that catches my eye. xD

I just want the animation not a theme....
I tryed to install the Galaxy S2 one but nothing...
If i put the file can someone try to port it for Play???
I ever try to modify that, but I can't...
It's very hard to port ICS animation to GB...
The framework is very different, and I ask some developer, they say it's impossible, so the way to taste ics animation is using ics rom.

That explain why not has been ported yet.... Anyway, thanks so much! Stopping hunting those animations.

Can someone port this for the s3? Nice find!
It works on the s3 if you have custom Rom just go under system then media and replace boot animation zip

Tip
If you place this in /data/local, you can use it without losing original boot animation. System looks in /data/local first for boot animation files.
Cool. Thanks for the tip. I just renamed the original

[Q] Different Screen Off Animations?

I was playing with a LG Optimus G at Best Buy (Sprint Version) and it had this awesome screen off animation (quick video of what I saw here)
The Optimus G I got was on latest JB and it doesn't have that animation. I rooted n unlocked and am working on a PA 3.0 ROM for us but while the rest of the source downloads I was wondering if anyone knows how to mod the phone to get that animation bk? I'm looking in framework.jar and framework-res and see a few things but if anyone knows a quicker way could you help me out? Thanks! Glad to have this phone for a few weeks!
It looks like they removed it on the jelly bean update.

i know on aokp in rom control/general ui you can change the crt animation from..
portrait horizontal
portrait vertical
orientation dependent
so i would imagine most of your aosp based roms should have it in one form or another
