Hi all,
Anybody happen to know a reg-edit to solve the following :
-I receive a call with my TP2 in a pouch
-I remove it from the pouch and the TP2 will see the magnet in the pouch
-the TP2 understands the keyboard is opened and changes to landscape view
-when I try to answer the call, the screen is "busy" with switching from landscape back to portrait, eventually the g-sensor also is helping with this
This effect is annoying for two reasons :
-the ignore button is in landscape where the slider to answer is in portrait, I can accidentially refuse the call because I press at the wrong moment
-waiting for the screen to refresh can take too long and the caller already hang-up before I answered
I know it is possible to answer by hardware-key but this does not always work (probably depending on the ROM I use)
My searches (and finds) did not solve this until now.
I would be very happy if somebody know a reg-entry.
My current sig. is not up to date, I flashed the NRG CHT from 03.Jul.2010
I was wondering if there were any modified AOSP Gingerbread phone.apk's floating out there that displayed in landscape mode. I usually put my DInc sideways when mounting for GPS and it would be really great if when I received a call the icons/text were oriented so that I could read it. Thanks.
Would love to see this too.

In your contacts, go into settings and enable landscape mode.
I think it'll make the dialer and everything go landscape.
I don't see "Enable landscape mode", though I do see "Enable sensor rotation". I have that enabled already, which allows a number of the UI's to switch to landscape mode, but not the phone UI that pops up when someone calls or when I am making an outgoing call. That is the UI I'd really like to figure out how to switch.

That's what I was talking about. I assumed it would affect the dialer, too.
Guess not. Sorry. :/
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's experienced this, especially because there was a post about this 2 months ago ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827657 ), but has anyone figured this out? Seems like sometimes I get a lockscreen formatted in a landscape mode, but normally I get itas the portrait mode.
No idea how to recreate the event, it seems to happen SOMETIMES when the screen locks as I'm using it in landscape mode, but then it quickly reverts back to portrait before I can do anything about it.
Any one have thoughts how to enable this every time?
Thanks!
I too have experienced this. I think it cause the lockscreen is actually created when you turn off your screen. Sent you are in landscape when you turn off the lock screen is created in landscape. When you turn on your phone it realize that the lockscreen should be in portrait. And recreates it.
Its configured that way from the lockscreen Java code. Its set to sense an orientation that isn't set by the rotation sensor. I'm not sure why it is set like that except for they only want landscape with a keyboard.

I would love to see this implemented in CM7
I keep my Note 2 docked in my car in landscape mode. When someone calls me, it doesn't display the incoming call screen in landscape mode.
Can this be configured? If not, are there any dialer replacements I can look at as a work around? This is part of touchwiz so I'm not sure if I can even replace it.

go dialer is just that, a dialer. it will not effect the incoming call screen, incall screen, or the outgoing call screen. this is unfortunate but true. however, i feel very confident enabling landscape for the dialer/incall screen is a simple value change in some random xml file in some random place on the phones file system lol. now its just a matter of finding someone who knows which xml and what value.
Whatever, I have go Dialer and I can answer calls in landscape. Na na na boo boo, stick your head in doo doo

I've been searching for a solution to this problem for a while. Unfortunately, this is not the solution. The dialer / contacts screen are in landscape, but the actual in-call screen always reverts to profile view. This is just the same as stock. Go Dialer does not fix this problem.
LittleRedDot, if this works for you, can you please post a screenshot and let us know some other information about how you made this happen? Are you stock? If not, what rom are you using? Do you have any other rotation control apps you're using?
The only app I've seen that attempts to fix this is Ultimate Rotation Control. It DOES rotate the in-call screen to landscape, but forces the call buttons to cover 90% of the screen so you can't see caller ID or use the dial pad in-call.
- It really is frustrating...

I have to say - this one thing makes me furious with Samsung and their attention to detail. If y do any amount of driving and have every used CarHome by google you would understand how frustrating this is. Anyone find a way to make sure the in-call screen remains in landscape mode during the call?
Second question - anyone get CarHome to work correctly on the S3?
Maybe try Ultimate Scree Rotation and set the one-handed operation "Keypad & in-call buttons" setting on. Not sure if it would work, but worth a shot.
Please check out my thread below on this issue, as we found a solution a while back. My buddy Samurai was able to resolve this with some SecPhone.apk (your phone app) editing with a decompiler, and now it works beautifully. Photo shows up on the left with all your call buttons on the right. It's a bit of a pain to do if you're not familiar with decompiling/recompiling your phone's apk files, but this mod works perfectly.

Rotation Locker
I found a solution that will switch to landscape mode for incoming and outgoing call.
Incoming call and outgoing call's Portrait or Landscape setting is referred by using Home Screen's Portrait or Landscape value, so it will go into "Landscape mode" for incoming and outgoing call if you can rotate the Home Screen into "Landscape mode"!
So, "Rotation Locker" App can do it!, please download it via below link:

I'm really annoyed that I can't open my phone from half way out of my pocket because it has the "don't cover the top of the screen" message. The option to turn that off is missing from settings now.
I can't use my own wallpaper because even if I change it, it still forces magazine unlock.
Receiving and taking calls makes you go to the phone app to answer calls.
Standard power saving is missing from my top menu.
I don't understand what is the deal with this update. Phone is stable, but I'm missing fairly standard features and I'm getting forced to use certain things I don't want.
You can change the lockscreen wallpaper by changing the lockscreen style to another theme. After that, you can change the wallpaper (tested using pixel launcher and setting wallpaper for lockscreen).
I just tested unlocking my phone from my pocket and works fine. Covering ambient sensor with my hand also allows to unlock via FP.
You should have a heads up notification for incoming calls.
What build number are you on and what variant 7x? in the US here with 8.0.0.330 build.
