I'm probably overlooking something monumentaly stupid, but in every single app, when in portrait mode I have these annoying zoom icons that don't actually do anything. I can't say when it started, or if they've always been there. Maybe I'm going crazy. I'm on blazer 3.7, gunslinger kernel.
Attached is an image from my Gmail on landscape. Any idea what this is or how to turn it off?

Did you try to delete cache and data for gmail?
If the same thing happens, then it would be some configuration issue. If it only happens on gmail, then remove and reinstall the gmail.
If still happens the same thing, then it could be related to rom and gmail version.
Be sure that which version of gmail is supported on your rom.
Thanks for responding.
The issue happens in literally every application.

the next thing we may check would be the launcher. Which one are you using? Is it happens on different launcher also?
Stock touch wiz, at least what's included on blazer. Now it went away in gmail but does it in the browser and a number of other apps. I'll probably just wipe everything and try blazer 4.0.

So every time I flash I wipe data/cache/Dalvik/Battstats. I was using CWM2 for a while and when every ROM continued to slow down and lock up I tried upgrading to CWM3, narrowing my ROM choices but not solving the problem. Whenever I flash, my phone will return to it's snappy self for a varying amount of time before crapping out again. I've tried Sense, AOSP, Evo, and Z ROMs and all behave the same for no apparent reason. What am I doing wrong? My phone used to be lightning quick, I sampled many ROMs and kernels without incident, only experimented with OC briefly, and all of a sudden it's gotten painfully slow no matter what i do. Please help me make my Incredible, "incredible" again
Is it still slow on the Stock ROM? If you haven't tried that already, I would try that. It's possible something else may be wrong with the phone if you've tried many different ROMS and all do the same thing. Do you have all the same apps installed as well, or are they different for the most part?
try fixing permissions
Try wiping your SD card and when you sign in your gmail account don't let it restore all of your apps. Setcpu is also a good investment if you have not already purchased it

will i need to re-flash my ROM after doing this?
Nope, doesn't delete anything.

This seems to have fixed the problem, thank you so much.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Actually, on closer inspection, the permission fix only temporarily stopped the issue. I even switched to the nearly stock Nothing Special Peanut ROM and I still got a FC from Sense. Is my phone a dud?

How are you restoring apps? I would wipe everything and flash a fresh ROM. does it freeze up now? If not, my $$ is on a rogue app that doesn't like playing with your phone.

Hmm I just flashed OMFGB w/o restoring my apps. The only things I've installed are the Google Apps, Google Voice (which is my primary method of communication), XDA, and SetCPU. The fcs seem random, not tied to any particular action. They even happen when I'm not doing anything on the phone. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help everyone.

update: I think the problem stemmed from using the SetCPU widget with the refresh rate set to 5 seconds. Not sure if changing the setting makes a difference, but removing the widget from my home screen has solved all the issues insofar. We'll see if it takes this time.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
setcpu is always a "use with caution" kind of app. you can get great results, but it's mostly educated trial and error with your rom/kernel combination.
Im having 2 issues with my E4GT. 1. The Screen turns blank or black when i run internet or the internet app is invoked.
2. After rebooting my phone some icon disappear from the screen.

i had the same problem and it just went away with my last flash and restore. running blazer rom's last update (before 1/5/12).
think it had something to do with ADW launcher *or some part of blazer* theming if i had to guess which two apps may have caused, tho i couldn't pinpoint.
fear of a the bug recurring scare me, i like stock browser best. yet i actually tried opera/dophin/uc browser...
are you running adw or blazer? just curious.

short of a factory reset i am not knowledgable enough to come up with anything else... a temp solution would be to use a diff browser on the market.

just a theory here that this is a bug in stock browser;
i initially had the problem in blazer 3.4 but fixed in a reflash.
you had problem in stock but fixed with a new flash to blazer.
anyway it's cool we fixed it one way or another... wonder what if there is a broader general issue?

I wonder why you and I were the only people who had this problem, however, there could be more. Maybe a ref lashing of the rom does the trick. Thanks Bro!
The problem returned.

Problem has resurfaced. Running blazer 3.7. I have been using since launch (1/22?) So a few days with no snags... 3am bedtime and I'm browsing in bed, problem randomly comes back. So effing annoying: I feel like I'm being violated ugghhh I hate this glitch! Cleared cache and data... will try yo reflash in the AM and report back.

a reflash of blazer (and the modified kernel) still haven't fixed the issue. i'm using dolphin browser as a temp workaround, really don't feel like going thru a factory reset for this bull****. any other suggestions? this seriously drives me insane!!!
Randomly when I go to send a text message, the letters I type don't show up. I have to close the messaging app fully and relaunch it and everything is fine.
I was rooted, with franco kernel and a bunch of mods/themes/apps installed. Right now I restored to stock ICS. Re-rooted, flashed aokp milestone 4 and haven't downloaded any apps and I just experienced the issue again.
Also, I am using stock keyboard.
Any ideas?

I believe this is a general issue with ICS, I have the same exact problem sometimes (1/~30 times) no matter what kernel/rom combo I'm using.
Definitely have never seen this before and i text like mad. But i also use handcent from day 1 so it might be the stock text app.
This happened to me once in a market app but hasn't occurred in the messaging app

It had the same thing happen to me quite often back on my HTC Legend on CM7 with Handcent, but never so far on my new Gnex. I liked the stock messaging app and even gave up on Handcent.

I can also confirm this happening very rarely. aokp/franco

Have definitely seen this more than a few times. I put it down to Swiftkey X compatibly issues though...

Thats the thing, I had swype installed and thought it was that. Like I said just did a reset and fresh install of everything. Cant be any third party apps.
Not me personally, but a friend who's on complete stock ICS has complained of this happening every so often. I've never seen it on mine.

So it's still happening with the Stock Keyboard? Interesting...Well, all we can wait for is a fix from the big G. I would have no idea where to start looking for problems with this sort of thing!
Yep have had this problem every morning for about the past week. I need to restart the phone to fix it.
I am rooted on stock 4.0.2 and normally use Swype however it happens on other keyboards too

Updated to ICS through Kies, running stock rooted and using default sms (I know, that's my first problem ).
My problem is I'm having to tap the field three or four times to pull up the Swype keyboard..
Didn't see any info on this posted previously so i wanted to see if i was alone on this. Aside from this issue, I'm running pretty smoothly, no lag, no force closures, no random reboots, just finicky Swype..

Hmmm looks like its not exclusive to Swype, messaging app lags pulling up any keyboard.
I'd gladly switch to handcent, I've just gotten accustomed to being able to pull up my messages from the lockscreen.

It happens to me too, I'm using exajoule rom, i just remove the widget then add it again, even my wife is having the same thing on stock rom. Don't know any other way to fix it. Inc tried to uninstall also but it happens again.
