follow up question...
I just went back to fix the gps issue. Worked like a charm, however.... I keep getting a "sorry, maps has stopped working" message. It still works though. Any idea what may cause this?
Im on mijjz ics blend fc14 v2.3
EL29 modem
FC07 kernel with recovery
Also, If i flash the FC14 Modem, would it undo the gps fix?
edit: ok i did lose maps and gps lock.... any ideas?
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

hi all, been following the Epic forums for sometime, finally decided to start getting involved
Im experiencing an issue with EB13. when it first came out I Odined EB13, everything worked great. Since then I have ran into the same issue every time I switch ROMS. I will flash the new rom, about half the time it works great. The other half I get no connectivity at all, and the UI is sluggish. Going into about phone, I see that my baseband is unknown, and my hardware version is unknown.
I can usually get it to connect after re-flashing and re-flashing the rom a few times.
Also, noticed that once I get it to actually connect and I get "bars", I will of course then do a fresh Nandroid, after a full nand backup the issue reappears.
Anyone know what this could be? weird thing is just that its so random. I can get it to work most of the time, just have trouble when switching roms.
Set up:
CWM3.0.0.6/EXT4
Just flashed SyndicateROM today.
EB13 (sometimes)
FIXED
FIXED. all the computers in my home are Macs so odining the modem again is not a quick fix option.
Booted into CWM3 and Fixed Permissions.
Booted up and connected.
Interesting stuff
I've been experiencing the exact same problem as the OP, but for me, running fix permissions in CWM (2.5.1.0) doesn't (always) solve the issue.
It seems to happen anytime I flash a zip from CWM, and goes away randomly (usually after sever flash attempts and modem restores with Odin).
Really hoping someone has an idea what's causing this issue, because it makes flashing things very tedious knowing half the time I'm gonna be stuck with a useless phone until I can get the modem working again.
I'm wondering if it's somehow a hardware issue, since it doesn't seem to affect everybody.
If it helps, I have the stock deodexed EB13 ROM with the Genocide 0.3a kernel.
I'm definately thinking its a cwm issue.. ill even just do a nandroid backup for kicks, reboot and it will do it sometimes.. eventually I might odin back to eb13 and reflash cwm and custom rom and see if I can get it to go away

Let me know if that works for you, because it happens to me all the time, and it's really annoying.
There also doesn't seem to be a simple way of fixing it.
Seems to just randomly go away as suddenly as it comes on.
Okay, so I just odined back to stock EB13 and I still have modem issues.
Currently going all the way back to DI18 to see if that fixes things, but is it safe to assume it's a hardware issue if even Odin doesn't fix it?
Okay, so the unknown baseband issue is back for me, and I seem to have made some headway on what causes it.
I had just tried to initiate a ROM backup in ROM Manager, but it hung while rebooting into CWM (on the Samsung Boot Logo).
I think I might have been doing something with ROM Manager last time it happened as well.
Can anyone who knows more about this stuff than I do think of a reason it'd happen when using ROM Manager?
I'd very much like to nip this issue for good, because it's making it hard to justify using CWM/root if I'm gonna keep losing the phone part of my phone.
Can I bump this? My battery died, and when I turned it back on, I have the unknown baseband, unknown hardware problem. I've been googling all night, and haven't found a solution.
I have been running ERA Legendary v3 on the EI22 Modem for a few weeks with ACS Recovery that I've had installed since it came out.
Any help would be awesome.

And I've tried flashing modems/roms and odining modems/roms. Even Heimdalling modems/roms. No luck. I've mainly tried ec05 and up. I will try older ones right now, if I can find them.
Hey All,
Long time listener, first time caller. I tried searching the forms for my exact issue but came up dry. My GPS still isn't grabbing a lock on Google Maps or Navigating after flashing the GPS fix; if I have to reflash the whole shabang again, so be it, but i'm trying to avoid taking that route.
Does anyone have any convoluted steps on helping my phone grab a GPS signal? after the flash i obviously rebooted and got nothing, so rebooted again and still got nothing. I've tried using GPS Fix in the app store but to no avail.
Phone: Epic 4G
ROM/Kernel: Swiss Cheese Samsprint EE03
Flashed: EC05 Modem and GPS Fix.
Please feel free to hammer down on me if I didn't write this post to spec, i'm just trying to get this figured out while i'm out golfing.
This site has saved me numerous times, so thank you in advance.
This was an issue with the old DK28 release. If the other fixes didn't work and you show no satellites with GPStest from the market, then you probably should try Odin the EC05 tar, get a lock there and leave it locked, then boot into your CWM and flash the EE03 stuff. But remember it is a beta release and all phones are not created equal.
That didn't do the trick, but thanks for giving it a shot anyway.
Good rule of thumb when upgrading a modem is to get a GPS lock on your known good ROM or on the stock ROM first before you flash your new ROM. This is the best advice I can give on the topic.
Running Swiss Cheese using the EE03 modem. First time I upgraded to Swiss Cheese the EE03 modem would not lock. Restarted from stock EC05 ODIN, upgraded modem to EE03, booted up and got a GPS lock. Flashed Swiss Cheese and all is well.

So you Odin'd back to EC05 and still no lock while on EC05?
I haven't had gps since before dk28. Lost it sometime during 2.1. Rooted and tried everything available at the time. Still nothing went to dk28 and stll nothing nd left it there for a while. When I first odined to ec05 I followed all direction except for the gps lock and when I went to ee03 istill had no gps. I reflashed eco5 and the ee03 modem and got the lock, flashed ee03 and gps still works. I'm about to flash to something solid tho my battery life is crap. Dunno if its the theme I fashed or the rom, I really think its the theme but idk definitively. Ayways I digress.. try and redownlod and get a gps lock every step of the way. Btw I couldn't see any sats either.

Hello!
Already few times I've tried to upgrade. From EG31 to EK02 and EL13. With EG31 everything works just fine but after upgrading I'm starting to get random reboots and device is hitting.
I've tried everything and only stocks Rom.
Can somebody give me some advice how can I figure out what causing reboots and hitting?
Maybe somebody can give some other advice? Because I'm trying to upgrade for a long time and can't.
Please, help me, guys? Is it only me not so lucky?
Please?
Use the EL13 ODIN tar in my signature. Use the one that resets your user data. (backup your data first)
If it is still happening, post back here.
I currently have CM9 alpha 6 with the ff18 modem installed.
When I make calls, both ends sound very garbled. I tried to trouble shoot by enabling/disabling 'enhanced voice privacy' as well as messing with the settings in DSP manager. I also tried disabling Google Voice, thinking that could be the source of the problem. Nothing worked.
After all that, I figured I would try reflashing the modem to el29, ff31, or fg20. When I tried in both the included CWM and also el29-directbootCWM-v3, I would get an error "e:error in (status 6)" and the flash would fail. I also tried to flash the tar.md5 versions of the modems through Mobile Odin, everything would appear to flash properly, but when I rebooted and checked the baseband version it still said "S.D710.10 S.FF18".
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I use this phone for work calls I'm not new to rooting / flashing but this is a new issue for me. Thanks!
[Edit] The modem flashing issue is resolved, but I still have the call audio problem.
Any suggestions or ideas?

Are you able to update profile and PRL on CM9? i don't think so though, but I've never flashed CM9 yet...

I was able to update the PRL & Profile using the Temporary Stock E4GT from emmc (http://e4gtcm.blogspot.com/2012/05/temporary-stock-e4gt-from-emmc.html). Still did not help with the sound quality.
Long story short, I finally was able to flash to another modem using Odin -- I am now on FG20. I used the temp stock e4gt from emmc to update the Profile & PRL, but i still have horribly garbled call audio.
Any recommendations on what else to troubleshoot? Or should I just wipe & reflash?
...hoping this isn't actually some hardware issue.
Well. The title is self-explanatory. I was on MIJJz Goodness ROM & flashed the Wicked Sensationz ROM through the recovery w/ MIJJZ ROM & after flashing the ROM i realized that auto-rotation was acting funny. Then it all of a sudden just stopped working all together. I tried flashing back Mijjz Rom & had the same issue.
Has anyone experienced this? I really hope its not a hardware issue. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

i've only experienced this in cm roms... and maybe aokp i dont remember but the problem was in advanced settings in sensors tab. DONT check use calibration data..... as long as thats unchecked and you have auto rotate on in settings it should work fine
