Official (as well as alquez's) doesn't fix permissions properly. Official doesn't log properly, and half the time it wont restore nandroids properly.
Alquez's works better, so I'm sticking with it for now.
Ive been trying to build a fully working recovery for a while (considering how small they are) and just have been having problems with it. Seems impossible almost to fix the bugs.. One after another. I will try to fix the bugs in my cm7 alpha, see if we can get everything working. If we can then it shouldnt be too hard here

Same bugs as CM7.
Camera reboots phone. Must pull battery for it to boot again, otherwise hangs at bootscreen.
Bluetooth turns on, does not pair with anything.
Cant test MMS. Auto converts to SMS by splitting, settings don't stick to allow over 160 character MMS. Can't use camera to record or take picture...
I do get data signal, and it works, so I would assume MMS would work with a fix. (MetrOFF, or manually adding data information.)
Will this work with cwm 5.0.2.6?

I wonder if I broke camera somehow? Because it did work. I even told simon how surprised i was when it worked...will look into that...
Flashed this last night. It booted fine, but when I got to the setup screen, the touchscreen is dead. Went back to my latest backup
My wfs is marvelc (metropcs),unlocked bl, s-off, rooted. Latest ota update to 1.10 bl.
I'm running insink71's 1.1 metro Rom (running great!). His two metro roms are the only ones that have ever worked for me.
Have not been able to flash any oc kernels or roms because of this. Would really like to oc. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Chicle, I have the same setup, same phone, same carrier, same hboot.
I can OC just fine. Jmz's kernel doesn't work for me. It just bootloops. Mindh4x8r's kernel bootloops twice, then proceeds to boot for me. Try Mindh4x8r's kernel without swap and see if that works. Make sure you wipe cache and Dalvik cache first!
I installed this last night and had a couple issues. When it would first boot up it would run nice and smooth but would soon start lagging a bit. I was looking at the frequency settings for the processor and it defaults at around 864mhz. By default my minimum was set at same, which seems very high. I reset the minimum frequency and it wouldn't stick to what I would change it to. After a couple reboots my minimum was at 120, even when I set it for something else, but it was just running slow. Camera didn't work for me either.

Definitely odd. But it kind of confirms what I've been suspecting for a while.
Most MetroPCS phones are identical, however I believe that they came out with a revised device later. My friend has the exact same phone as us, however his (Stock, he wont let me mod it) phone tells me its a hardware 1.1, where mine is a hardware 1.0. It tells you in the "About phone" settings menu. (Stock, insink's MPCS1.0 and 1.1) No other ROM will tell you this information.
Could you report back on which hardware version you have?

If you want to talk in IRC, I'm in here all day: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#classicnerd&uio=MTE9MA4c
Hello all,
Aspiring dev here, wanted to try my hand at porting a rom.
The rom I have ported is classicnerd ICS. The teams website is www.classicnerd.net. It started as a tweaked version of CM7 for the HP TouchPad, and now they have moved on to using their own source, so I thought I'd attempt to port it.
Classicnerd is mainly an AOSP rom, but with init tweaks aimed at making the UI very fluid and smooth, hence the "butta" name. Try it out, and let me know of anything that is wrong or that needs fixing etc.
When you long press the power button to bring up the power menu, DO NOT tap reboot into recovery. You'll have to unbrick your kindle. I am going to remove this option from the rom.
Credit and thanks go to:
Hashcode for his kernel (versions 0.0.1 and 0.0.2)
InterceptRaven for his modded kernel (0.0.3+)
classicnerd for the source
cyanogenmod for various tweaks in the rom
TheDoctor for trusting me with his Fire to test these roms before I release them.
I want to give a special thanks to aaricchavez for spending a lot of time with me and actually being the one to figure out what was going on with the port. Thanks!
Not working:
H/W Video decoding
USB storage (working on it)
Things to come:
Custom wallpapers (I'm aware it has HP wallpapers lol)
Correct boot animation
Further tweaks.
Bug fixes
As always, I am not responsible if it asplodes your Fire, etc etc.
PLEASE MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP IN TWRP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE!!
Flash this in recovery like any other rom.
Please be courteous and definitely leave me feedback.

Presumably this is the same issues as if you reboot into recovery from the ROM in CM7 while running TWRP: the device will than not reboot back to normal mode, but instead loops into recovery every time you reboot.
If that is the case than using CWM will resolve that. The issue is in the reboot wrappers in the recovery itself not the ROM. The DooMLoRD has added a set of scripts to the ramdisk that correct the reboot wrappers so that you can properly boot back to normal mode, fastboot or recovery on command. In short; CWM should work just fine (I have not tested it yet). Basically in summation TWRP has the wrong reboot wrappers for the kindle and therefor does not re-assign the bootmode properly to remove itself from recovery.

Doomlord has the scripts in the ramdisk of his boot image he uses on his kernel?
On another note, I'm running intersectRavens kernel right now, and it seems to be working very well.

I'll be honest I don't entirely understand ramdisks lol... Having said that I know that the recovery resides in the ramdisk and the kernel utilizes the ramdisk but technically speaking the ramdisk is not part of the kernel. I know when you build a boot.img or a recovery.img both are accompanied with a ramdisk so I would assume that the recovery and normal boot functions exist in separate locations of the ramdis, subsequently it doesn't matter what kernel you are using so long as you flash the correct recovery.img
DooMLoRD has all the scripts needed in the ramdisk files in his recovery tree
I imported the bootable_recovery part of that to my CM7 manifest and the parts needed for the ramdisk (the reboot wrappers primarily) I imported into my device tree for the kindle
Basically the point is you should be able to reboot out of recovery if you are using CWM and you chose recovery from the ROM
Oke. Cleaned as per OP request.

What it the problem with USB mounting? Does the notification show up?
(Which device tree are you using btw?)
The problem with the usb notification was that for tablets it is not implemented in AOSP (only for phones), the commit to enable it should be somewhere in https://github.com/KFire-Android/android_frameworks_base/commits/ics in the SystemUI/src folder.

I don't remember a "connected as installer" message, we also don't use MTP anymore, only mass_storage (but it worked for me with MTP on linux). Have a look into the /frameworks/base/packages/SystemUI/src/com/android/systemui/statusbar/tablet/ folder, only found this commit right now.

Forgot to say thank you, I appreciate your time in doing that for me!
To the others, I have a further tweaked version with intersectRaven's kernel. Just waiting on him to get back to me with an OK to release with his kernel. 1.2GHZ is mighty nice on this Fire
I love my TouchPad, but I have got to say, I totally see the allure of the Fire. It's a very nice, and very sturdy 7" tablet with decent specs for a good price. Not getting rid of my TouchPad because the 10" screen is great for work (I use it to RDP into my servers at work), but this Fire is a lot easier to transport. I think I'll enjoy learning to dev on this thing

Wow, thank you! I really appreciate that!
This is just the first step in my learning how to do this. The next big step is to take this from being a port, to actually being built from Classicnerd source.
But, until then I will continue to tweak this and do what I can.
Hey forum i back yet again, this time i present to you a new kind of app its called glazed mods. This app is so uniques to all the others, well maybe it may only be one of a kind. So what does this app do, easy it allows you to download the mods that are posted on it. I thought to myself, hmm why not make anyone on any rom enjoy this app, so i am, currently all of the apps are working on glazed ICS, any other rom such as gederom can only download the ones with a little orange plus on them.
By what i mean this app is one of a kind i mean that it uses a new way of presenting apps to you. So what makes it unique is that it is a WebView loading a 600*1024 flash website. It fits perfectly to your screen and the abbilities of flash is customization, and many other little tweaks that this app can support.
Things you need to know
Do not click an item multiple times it might cause the app to crash
There is an update feature that downloads the latest update of the roms listed, if you want to see more roms. Contact me or comment below, need devs permission.
You will recieve automatic updates but not by updating the app.
Please report any bugs in the request section

You have to install through the app in order to detect that it is downloaded. But you can reflash glazed ics or any other rom and it will delete all the mods.
Yes reboot into recovery works, but if you are using FFF 1.4a it doesnt (The one that can have 2 roms at a time)

It needs su because It installs a custom virus. JK.I am using a lot of native code such as wget and that's why I need switch user permissions. It was not working until I added su -c.If you look in the super user logs you can see all commands it uses.

Oh a fix for your problem maybe would be to clear cache and data then reboot and it should work.
If that doesnt work you can use the pc version. Its not the best size in the world but it works.

I tried it a couple times and now all is well. Everything works fantastically. Really like the selection of inverted mods.

Has anyone tried the Eyecandy theme with gederom?
I know it's listed as not compatible with all ROMs but I swear I thought I had read in a thread somewhere that someone had used it w/ gederom successfully.
Is it possible for you to add some features from the SGT7 rom as a flashable mod?

Oh a fix for your problem maybe would be to clear cache and data then reboot and it should work.

For anyone who wants the source code, here it is:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/86322124/Glazed Mods 1.1.zip
It is set up to compile for android 4.0
Anyone else experience this?
After using the app and installing the inverted play store i was stuck at the boot animation, let it sit for 30 min with no luck so i had to restore a backup.
Knowing how stupid i am i went to restore a backup and i forgot that i had deleted both the rom zip and my backups from my sd card so i had to get out the ol' laptop, download the rom again and mount through twrp to install. Last part was totally my fault
But anyways im going to try to induce the same problem and see if i can pull the log to see what was going on. Shouldve done that in the first place but again Beer does impair my thinking haha!
apply at goo.im for a dev account. u get hosting, and goo manager access which kind of does what your trying to do with this. or just use it for hosting.
So I liked the ability to do the color differentiate thing and other little mods I noticed with the new camera... but I don't like the builds we have right now as I'm seeing to much TouchWiz lag in them... (came JB lol) so I just pulled it from WildChild's rom.
You need to install it by renaming the old camera file (located in /system/app) SamsungCamera.apk.bak this is as a backup just in case you dont like the new app for whatever reason.
copy and paste the file to /system/app/
reboot
Then it should work. Check permissions as I did and it wasn't set properly even though the camera functioned properly...
Easier then I thought and wrote up.
Be sure to wipe cache after all is done just in case as @DocHoliday77 suggested.
Yes I just did this process all over again.

Confirmed on: Wicked [v2]
I'm sure this will work on any TouchWiz rom, waiting on confirmations.
any questions ask away I'll check frequently and update post if need be...
I tried this and wasn't able to get the camera to work. I'm running stock rom on tmobile but have upgraded to the UVLH2 radio.
I renamed the SamsungCamera.apk to SamsungCamera.apk.bak
I copied the file you posted to the /system/app folder
I set the permissions to what you posted in your pic
I rebooted and when I tried to use the camera I got a force close.
I rebooted again and still got a force close error.
I then tried installing the camera by clicking on the apk in root explorer. It told me the camera failed to install.
At that point I just reverted back to my old camera app. Is there something different I should be doing?
Looks like i should right the instructions a little better... I'll do a better right up in a little bit when i can get to my computer.

Try unchecking Execute.
updated, it's actually stupid simple copy and paste, and reboot that's all I did and then took a picture.
@mt3g
What rom base are you currently on?
Reason I ask is cause there is quite a change between the first two and the latest update.
If you're on an older base some things from the latest may not work correctly.
If you are running one of the first two, and it works fine then at least we know that's not the case here.

Whenever you replace an app in /system/app, its a good idea to boot recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. Try doing that and let us know!

Alright that's good, need other's to try it out and see if we got lucky, I don't see how it'd be too different from other TW based roms though.

I'm just on rooted stock UVALH2 and followed OP instructions, wipe, wipe dalvik cache and nothing happened. Still stock without added options.
Do I have to be on a custom rom?
Thanks
It is the same as the CM10 camera. What other features did you add? It works well but it is missing the burst mode and storage location to save the photos.
Oh, and I didn't have to wipe data or non of that! but just copied/pasted and reboot.

I'm curious, how did you update? Did yoh flash the rooted rom? Or did you install the full update via kies or odin. Or did you install the ota update?
I've been suspecting the following for a while now but could never get an answer to confirm.
Basically if you just flash the rooted update, you are going to miss out on a number of other firmware updates to other parts of your phone. Flashing the rom does not update the other partitions like installing via kies or odin will.
I could be wrong here or at least in your case, but not having the FULL update installed could cause exactly what you are seeing.
Just food for thought but would love to hear others input on this theory.
Note: you could try the dialer code mentioned in another thread to try updating JUST the camera firmware. I think its in general.

Ok, I am currently running UVALG1 via wildchlds flashable rom. I installed the camera as per op and worked great! So my theory was at least part if not fully wrong.
However I have a question/request of anyone willing. Enter the dialer code from above and choose the first option Check Camera fw Ver. A toast will popup telling what your cameras and phones versions are. Mine said zdfe02 for both, but as stated above, his said one was zdff03.
Would you guys be willing to do that and let me know what it says? I figure zdff03 will show up if you have updated to UVALH2.
Thanks in advance! Hope I'm not annoying you with this stuff, I just want to know more!!!

i have both zdfe02 for cam FW. I'm on UVALH2 but still on old baseband UVLEM. I'm wondering if this is causing me not to be able to get the updated cam??
This Rom is a port that i made of Jeremyandroids LK7 build with his permission. This is a very light Rom and has performance scripts that he wrote for the Rom. I included the Latest Stock Tmobile Kernel from the UVALL4 release and as you will see it performs very smoothly on even a stock Kernel. I removed some apps that Jeremy android put in it as i was getting force closes and the Wi-Fi kill app seems temperamental it works for some that have tested and not others including myself. I also added Bluetooth back in as i gotta have it. Flash any Kernel you wish i have only tried perseus and it seemed top be fine. The stock kernel really performs well with this Rom. All credit goes to Jeremy android as i just ported the ROM for our use. I am not a DEV and i will answer questions to the best of my knowledge that i can. The link for the original thread is below and i will update this port as the rom gets updated. Please use at you own risk and do not complain to me if you brick your phone ,the rom has been tested and its good to go. Flash as you would any other ROM and you will be fine
Link to Original Thread In ATT Forum please refer to this thread for all modifications made to the ROM too many to list :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091715
Flash as you would any other ROM in CWM or TWRP, WIPE CACHE's Format System and Factory Reset, I used Twrp without issues and get ready for smoothness.
First boot will take a lil time and screen will go black because there is no Bootanimation so dont worry , i advise to go look
at the original thread before flashing. And as i always do update to the latest modem.

ROM comes with no Radio, It retains what ever Radio your phone was currently on. I always recommend keeping up with the latest release from T-Mobile. As far as perseus it was tested with perseus and it seems that some of the scripts that jeremy has written into the rom dont play nice with the Kernel and makes it lag
Guys with issues did you Full wipe or dirty flash. I recommend fully wiping everything ive flashed each version like this and haven't had any force closes . As a matter of fact if it force closed i took it out thats why some of the apps that he has in the Rom are not there so make sure your full wiping if coming from Ver2 to Ver 3. I just redownloaded the Rom and ill mess with it all day to see if i can replicate the Issues some of you were having . Thanks for downloading and the feedback

Hi all,
I managed to make working multiboot feature on Galaxy S3.
Below are some videos preview that I did demonstrating the features ( don't look at sound, I removed it because my english is not fluent).
This project is at an early stage but already working with limitations.
If you want to try it, beware that it is dangerous (no risk to brick but if you make mistake you risk to install a zip into your internal rom), so to test it, please follow exactly the operations in videos examples.
Very important recommendations to test :
- BACKUP all your data first !
- Use only your internal if you have at least 4G available ( 7GB recommended because I create sparsed img files but if you fill all the rom, it will take 7GB )
- Use your external sd card only if :
- you have at least 7 GB free
- your filesystem is vfat or ext4 ( exfat, ntfs not supported for the moment ) - Very very important : when you use "set rom" option, you have to see "command succeded" at the end of the output. If not, don't go further and reboot.
- start by playing with recovery roms ( check video ) before testing full rom
- creating rom on vfat can take about 15 minutes (to create img files). Be patient...
The method used is an adapted kexec-hardboot method created by mkasic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266827), but with a complete replacement of kexec by another userspace program ( kload-harboot ) and a very small kernel patch ( hardboot-reserve ).
Note also that this adapted method is easily portable to any android devices.
If you are interested in this project ( to help for testing, to help dev, to add features etc..), I will open a thread in the developpement subforum, to published sources and explanations.

Sorry to answer lately. I did this program on i747M ( Bell canada provider ) with d2att cm10.2 kernel but as we share the same kernel, it should be fine. Just take care of warnings that I putted in first message. If you can share your experience and tell me if you found problems/bugs.

No problem man. It's working good. I tested cm11 paranoid android and it worked good. But I tested avatar ROM 4.3 and it didn't work so well. Probably a ROM issue. And these were tested with my internal ROM as 4.3 touchwiz. You should put in the OP to flash with Odin. And I found a bug I think....
When you make a new ROM and flash the ROM in the new slot, you must swap back to internal in order for it to boot. So you can't swap to it, and then boot it.

Is there anyway to make a regular zip for this? I don't have access to a computer for Odin

Thank's for feedback.
I will add the information that this preview has to be installed with Odin.
In fact, it is prerequisite to go back to original rom to be able to boot a Rom that you installed on internal sdcard ( /data/media/../) .
When you select a rom, it is to make operation on it ( install, wipe etc.. ) but not to boot on it. I admit that it is not very clear...

In my case, it was also to have my original rom (not rooted) for my work during work time, and use other roms outside work.
This looks awesome I will try it out asap. Thanks for the hard work

Wow! This looks awesome! I'll have to try it when I grow a pair of balls haha. I'm too scared to mess with my phone any further. (Especially since I did the 4.3 OTA.)
Works like a charm

It even flashes KitKat Roms without the status 7 even though it's based on twrp 2.6.3.0

Close the program and reopen it. Use default settings. Make sure re - partition isn't checked. It normally isn't. So open odin. Click the file in PDA. Hit start. Done.

Nicely done OP! Tested and I can confirm that this does indeed work on the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S III SGH-T999!
One small thing though, this mod makes the recovery think that the device is an i747, therefore, T-Mobile ROMs (with the getprop in updater-scripts) cannot be flashed with this. I expect though, that this is a minor issue and can be fixed very easily. Once again, great work! :good:

What kind of bugs are people running into? I just saved my device's ass from a hard brick for the second time in just a few months so I don't want to flash anyting with odin right now, some stability would be nice for a ltitle bit
However, if people have not been having problems once you boot into either ROM, at least nothing additional to what is already a known issue, then I am flashing this sucker RIGHT away. Question, how is /system/ looking? what about build.prop and the init.d folder? are they seperate for each ROM, and if so, how are they managed when I am not booted into one for instance?

Every rom is sorted into its own folder in these incoded files. You see?
